Unique Refinishing

They were excellent. He told me everything that was going to go on, and it was just as he had said it would be. It took them about 3 days. They were clean and neat, and they cleaned up as well. They did a good job. Everybody including my neighbors loves the floors. I used a coupon that I had. My daughter is going to use him when she is ready.

Felix did an outstanding job! I left a message with Unique Refinishing and got a returned call from Felix that day. We set an appointment for Felix to come out and give an estimate which he did later that week. His estimate was not the least expensive nor the most expensive. What impressed me most about Felix was his follow up / returns calls and recommendations regarding the job. The day of the job, we had a snow storm and he showed up on time at 8am with his workers. They completed the work by 2pm which included removing (and disposing of the carpet), prepped my sub-floor, laid the solid wood floors (I provided the wood floors), installed the shoe molding and cleaned up after the work was completed. Felix was easy to work with and would highly recommend him.

This is company is GREAT. They finished the floors in record time. The floors were spotless after they completed - no dust. About a week later Alex dropped by to follow-up and drop off a complimentary floor cleaner. I cannot say enough good things about this company. If you need to get your hardwood floors refinished, don't even bother to call anyone else- just call Alex and he will take care of you. True professionals!

Felix and his crew arrived on time. They helped move the heavy items I could not. Their equipment was set up in minutes and they began to work. I was offered the opportunity to watch and / or inspect each step of the operation. They were true artisans at work. This was a difficult job because of the old soft pine flooring. I was nervous about how it would all turn out. The finnished product was better than I had hoped. It was beautiful. If all businesses opperated to the standard that UNIQUE REFINISHING follows, there would be no need for Angie's List. Thanks guys, we'll be doing business again.

The floors looked really good, and it's true, there was no dust! Our floors are old and not uniform, and we knew that they could not be made to look "perfect." However, we were pleased with the results, and the fresh look of our home. Felix, the owner, responded promptly to our initial call, provided helpful (and lower cost) suggestions on some other work we were considering. The work was done on time and with the least amount of inconvenience to us. The "dustless" feature was great.

Exactly as expected. The crew arrived precisely when they promised...worked for 1.5 days and departed within minutes of the time they originally estimated. A giant vacuum that they positioned outsied the house pulled all the dust directly from the sanding machines..I saw no sawdust in the house. Very neat and clean.

All the other reviews are right on. We also had a very positive experience with Felix. He is pucntual and very responsive to phone calls and questions. When his guys were removing the tile floor in our foyer they found a layer on poured concrete underneath. They had to go rent a jack hammer and spend a day working on it to get it all up and they did so without increasing the cost of the project. Despite the concrete situation, the floors were finished ahead of schedule and they look fabulous. The guys worked very hard long days to get everything done quickly. The floors were stained natural with a matte water based finish. We love the new floor and would highly recommend Felix and his crew to anyone looking for new hardwood floors or to have old floors refinished.

Felix quickly came out for and estimate and explained my options as far as water or oil based polyurethane. Felix and his crew did a great job. They were very efficient and did a very good job of cleaning up. The dust free system was a big plus for me. There was some water damage (especially on the steps) and they did a good job of removing it as best they could. The floors really look great.

When the floor was uncovered and the people that were doing the other work cut a big long hole in the floor to put the new waste line in it. Felix the owner came in and looked wood and knew what it was and it was harder pine which is very hard to find. He located similar wood which was very expensive and he lay in the floor, sanded everything and put a green covering on it. He did the wood in such a way that there was extra and he did in such a way that there was a complete package still down and he gave me a refund. They totally knew what they were doing and he was such a sweet accommodating guy. When they came there were other workmen finishing up something and they waited over an hour to start work and said that it was okay. I paid about $1600 on that work. He came like immediately to give me the price and started and it was a two part job because they were not going to do the refinishing until all the other work was done. Once they were done, he fitted me in and came very quickly and was just incredibly accommodating. All the other recommendations are absolutely on target and that is why I used them.

Felix came out on a holiday for an estimate, to meet my schedule. He was very honest - I suggested removing the old linoleum from the kitchen floors to see if the wood underneath could also be refinished but he advised me to wait until I was ready for the possibility of having to install brand new flooring, which I wasn't. After stripping and sanding the floors he painted samples of stains on a portion of the floor for me to chose from, which was very helpful. The floors look fabulous now.

Felix responded promptly to a request for an estimate, provided an estimate on the spot, accepted the job, arrived on time, and finished the job ahead of schedule. The system he uses produced NO dust during the sanding. His advice regarding how to best finishthe floor was appreciated and actually reduced my costs. In moving some furniture a glass in a cabinet door was broken. Felix immediately dropped the price of the job to cover the cost of replacing the glass. Felix and his crew were positive, hardworking, and pleasant to have in the house. No reservations about recommending or using him again.

Excellent experience with a highly professional provider. Calls were promptly and courteously returned. The crew was punctual, thorough, and tidy, and the price was competitive. No complaints.

The floors are absolutely beautiful! His company was advertised as "dustfree" and that was definitely true. In the middle of all the snow we had in February, there was this big industrial vacuum outside. He had told us because the floors had been covered by carpet for so long and cats and dogs had lived there, that some of the boards underneath might have to be replaced, but that was not the case. He had told us we had to get all the furniture that was in the middle of the room from painting the week before out of the house and into a rental truck until the job was done and floors were dry. We got the truck and his men put all the heavy furniture in for us and were going to put it back at the end, but we said we had someone coming in to do that because some of the furniture was being donated, etc. We gave him the key and he completed the job actually ahead of schedule, all the while being very professional and caring. We would definitely recommend Unique Refinishing that is really "dustfree" and really made our home look warm and inviting.

This was a big job. They delivered the wood a few days earlier to let it acclimate in the house. Then Felix and his crew came every morning right on time. They worked through the weekend and got the job done in a week. I had a problem with some scratches in one room. They ended up changing most of the wood in the room because Felix wanted it to look right. Felix and his crew were professional and very pleasant to have around. I would hire them again anytime. The only suggestion I have is to plan on painting the house after you get the floors done, especially if you are doing the stairs.

The project went exactly as described by Felix. In about seven hours, Felix's crew sanded all the floors, replaced all the shoe moldings, replaced a few broken boards, and applied three coats of polyurethane. They used massive vacuums to make it a dustless sanding process. After they left, we couldn't tell they had ever been there, except that the floors looked new.

I found Felix on Angie's List like so many of the reviewers before me. I cannot say enough good things about his work and professionalism. I own and have renovated several houses and am myself in the home servicing industry. I have seen the worst of contractors and I have seen the best and Felix is FANTASTIC. His quote was very reasonable and he even gave me a $50 dollar discount for paying cash. His crew was very considerate and are experts at refinishing. All of us knew that the newly refinished floors would not exactly match the older floors in the rest of the house - we were all pleased when they came out looking as close to a perfect match as possible. Seriously people I am standing in the room with my my newly refinished floors about to cry they are soo pretty. Thank you Felix for helping me continue to make my house a home.

We purchased a new home Oct 31st and are moving in Nov 10th. We wanted to have the floors done before moving in and selected Unique Refinishing because of the Angie's List reviews. The owner, Felix really is as fantastic as everyone says. He is responsive, always returning calls and answering questions, he gives honest feedback as opposed to always responding in a way that makes him money, and the quality of his work is supurb. I was concerned about our tight timeframe but I called Felix once before we bought the house to talk about the floors but we couldn't get in the house yet. Felix told me not to worry, he would fit us in. Sure enough! I called him Friday, Oct 31st in the afternoon to ask Felix to come look at the floors and he came out Saturday at 9am. He had additional men working on other jobs and my job to speed up the process to meet everyone's deadline. Felix said he'd do our floors either Thurs, Fri, or Sat depending on the progress of another job. He called on Wed as agreed with an update, showed up on Thurs and was done on Friday. One of the best things about this company is the equipment they use to trap the dust. It is amazing. My biggest concern with having the floors sanded was that dust would get everywhere including in the air ducts and we'd have to clean all of that before moving in. However, they actually suck the dust up into a big vaccuum and bag it so there is virtually no dust in the house. Not only did they take care of dust removal but they vaccummed the carpet in the stairs before leaving. I can't say enough about the quality of work or professionalism. The floors look brand new. My husband and I couldn't be happier.

Absolutely great. Felix is great to deal with. This was a hallway and a small job for him, but he took it and probably did not make much on it. I had thought I might restain the oak floor because I was used to it having a dark oak look, but he suggested waiting until it was sanded to decide. He showed me how it would look with a clear sealant and also with a toner. I chose the toner-it darkens the wood just slightly, but still shows the beautiful grain and natural colors of the wood. He was so right. And of course the price was cheaper without staining.

Excellent! The owner was knowledgeable and responsive. The crew arrived right on time and stayed for two consecutive 12 hour work days. The crew was respectful, polite, clean, and easy to have in the house. I will hire them again to do the main level of the house in the future.

Felix is very friendly and takes the time to explain the process in detail. You can tell he really wants to make sure that the job is done to your satisfaction. His workers are conscientious. They advertise as being dust-free and they certainly are. The floor looks beautiful. Thank you!

After years of dealing with contractors whose quality standards were marginal, at best, it was a complete delight for my wife & I to come into contact with Felix. We decided to add a deck to our house & replace the sliding class patio door. Felix designed a deck for us based upon the size and shape of our yard .The design was absolutely perfect for our situation & quickly convinced us that we had found a right contractor. The quality of the deck that he and his crew constructed exceeded our most optimistic expectations. It is simply gorgeous. He ensures the final product is so perfect that no rework will be required. His team are perfectionists. They are simply amazing, second to none. Felix is strongly customer focused. A+ are not enough to properly rate the fantastic work that was done for us.

My husband and I purchased flooring and hired Felix and his crew to install it in several rooms. The finished product could not be more fantastic! Felix measured our multiple spaces to near perfection so we did not overspend on the purchase. He even provided us with some accent materials he had in his shop that worked perfectly and cost us nothing. His crew was efficient, meticulous and was the hardest working group of men I have ever seen. They tidied up after each day and thoroughly cleaned after the final install. They went above and beyond our expectations in handling every detail with care and Felix was constantly on-site to supervise their progress. When we needed a plumber to install a new fixture as part of the project, Felix arranged to have someone he recommends handle the job. The plumber was excellent as well and very reasonably priced. The entire project required three days of work and the team worked nearly non-stop in order to inconvenience us as little as possible. We could not be more pleased with the result and would HIGHLY recommend Felix and his company to anyone. A++

My husband and I bought a house in November with hardwood floors and wanted the floors refinished before we moved in. We called 2 companies and decided to go with Felix's, so we called him back and asked when he could come out. He told us the earliest date was about 2 and a half weeks away, but Felix said he really wanted our business and would give us $100 off if we went with his company, so we did. The Friday before the company was supposed to come out, I gave Felix a call and he asked me what time I wanted them to come out. I told him anytime was fine. He asked me when the baby got up and I told him 6:30, so he said they would be out at 7:00. They arrived about 7:10 and started working. There were about 4 people on the crew. Felix explained that they were going to sand the floors and put down 3 coats of water-based finishing and would be done about 5:00 since we didn't require the shoe molding. He called about 3:00 and told me to come out at 4:00 so that we could do a walk through before the final coat was put down. At 4:00, my husband went over there and Felix explained how long we should wait before cleaning the floors, putting down rugs, etc. The floors looked really good and the next day, they looked even better!
