Prompt, courteous reply to e-mail inquiry. Scheduled the job within that week and we didn't need to be home for them to perform the service. Invoice was left and pictures were e-mailed that night.

Our winter storms badly mangled my 64 foot long front gutter. When Nick came to investigate, he found missing fascia behind the gutter. A new gutter was ordered promptly. The new gutter arrived today and Nick completeted the work in a friendly and professional manner. After removing my old gutters, Nick found there was not as much work as estimated, reducing my bill by over $300. I was as impressed by his honesty as I was by his service. I have found my gutter man!.

I contacted them by email and got an immediate response, but then didn't hear anything for a while, so I emailed again. They came out within a day or two for an estimate and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. The price was reasonable and the work was well done. I have gutter covers which they removed for the cleaning and replaced. They sent me before/after photos of the work done. I called to say I still had leaks in a couple of places, so they came back and did additional sealing and told me they hadn't finished before because it was raining and the sealant couldn't dry. My only complaint is communication; if they had left me a note, a voicemail, or an email to let me know what was going on, I wouldn't have needed to call them to ask.

UPDATE Aug 2012: This review is updated to reflect that Nick Rivers Gutters is no longer serving existing customers in Baltimore City. Despite servicing us at least three times previously, today they told us they stopped working in certain areas of the City due to small streets and were therefore only serving Roland Park (which has some of the smallest streets around!). It does not make sense. They are entitled to work where they choose, but it is very frustrating to pay for Angie's List service, to find a contractor who you then hire multiple times, and the person bails on you. It's just not professional in my book. We have hired Nick Rivers in the past and given an and quot;Aand quot; review. For that job, we were home to supervise, this time we were not. In general, NR does a good job, and they even reattached some brackets that had become dislodged over the winter. However, they totally missed a small side gutter on our porch and when we got a light shower, the downspout for that porch overflowed at our foundation. We called to ask them to come back out at their convenience, left a phone message, but it was never returned. We ended up tending to the missed gutter on our own. It was packed solid with debris, so we knew they had never touched it. Also, we originally called them WEEKS before to schedule the gutter cleaning, left a message that time, too, and it was never returned. It seems the key to getting the best performance from them is to reach them in person and be home to supervise. NR did honor a $10 coupon listed on Angie's List. UPDATE: Within a few months of our April gutter cleaning, we experienced a gutter overflow and called Nick Rivers again. They responded promptly, sent someone when we weren't home, and found a small gutter clog that was new. They must have also recognized the side gutter they had missed on their last visit, because they did not charge us for this follow-up appt even though it was for a new clog. We appreciate that they recognized a mistake and made amends by not charging us for a small clog.

I was very pleased with the service and communication from Nick Rivers Gutters. They explained their service over the phone and it was easy to schedule the time for the cleaning. The crew was very professional,friendly, and knowledgeable about gutters. I've had gutter covers for about 8 years and was concerned that the gutters were blocked and maybe I should remove the gutter covers. It turns out the problem was a bird's nest at the top of a downspout! There was also some debris in the rest of the gutters that they cleaned out. They said that the gutter covers were working fine -- but I should expect to have to clean them out every 8-10 years or so. They were very careful with the ladders and really got the job done quickly. Everything was cleaned up when they left. These are great guys and I'd highly recommend them. Their price was just a little higher than others I talked to, but you get professional, careful, and through service. You do get what you pay for!

They were great! They took before and after pictures. I was also able to see that a few shingles that looked funny from below were not damaged. And, unlike other people I've used, they bagged the leaves instead of just leaving them there.

I spoke to Laura on the phone and she said that someone would be over to inspect the damage and would give me an estimate for repairs. After a second phone call and a wait of about three weeks, someone finally did come by. He or she left a form with difficult-to-read handwriting itemizing the damages to be repaired. But there was no estimate of the cost written on the form. A few days later, Laura left a voicemail asking me to call her back ... but did not provide an estimate for the cost of repairs. I called her back the next day, again asking for the estimate, and got her voice mail. The outgoing message indicated that my call would be returned that business day. It never was. So I called Mr. Handyman (also highly rated on Angie's List) and a workman came out the next day and made the repairs for me. They seem to have done a decent job, so that's taken care of. I'm puzzled about the other reports for this vendor that indicate that they spoke to Nick himself and that he was such a great guy with great response time. I never did get a chance to speak to Nick, only Laura. They seem so disorganized. I realize that they had lots of calls for repairs like this after the "snowmageddon" here in Maryland, but it seems like SOME kind of communication, with a cost estimate and an estimate about when the work could be done would have been in order.

Nick was great. My Mother-In-Law used his services. She called him and he was very busy, but he came out the next day when she wasn't at home and left an estimate. She called him back and he came out to do the repairs as scheduled. When he arrived, she asked if she might need new gutters. I'm sure he could have made a lot more money installing new gutters, but Nick was very honest and told her she would only be wasting her money to purchase new ones. He did a great job on gutters and cleaned both the front and rear. He even sent her back some money, because he forgot her senior discout! Highly recommeded.

Nick should really be called "Saint Nick." In the midst of Snowmageddon 2010, Nick was an island of calm, as well as responsive, professional, and efficient. He always answered his cell phone and always seemed cheerful even under stress. Ice and snow was pulling off the back gutter of my townhouse and when I called Nick for an estimate, he arrived within 2 hours. He said he'd need to wait till more ice had melted off the slate roof since he didn't want to risk damaging the slate, but he reassured me that the gutters would be okay for a few days. When one side of the gutter looked like it might fall on the power line, I called Nick and he came over promptly to cut off that part of the gutter to prevent that from happening. He finished replacing both gutters today, and it looks great! Can't wait to get the digital "before and after" pictures, which Nick sends by email after jobs are done. Jason, the guy who worked with Nick on this job, was awesome too. Overall, really nice people, great quality, and great communication!

Called and left a message that I had ice damming causing water leaking into my home. Immediately called back and said he happened to be in the area for another job and my house was on his way to another job. Said he could be to my house by 2 pm and actually made it by noon. Was very professional and very courteous. Did an excellent job cleaning very solid ice from the gutters and clearing snow from the roof. He also did a very good job of communicating exactly what he was doing and what caused my problems. He also provided some possible solutions to help prevent it from happening again. Would highly recommend Nick Rivers Gutters.

They gave me an estimate over the phone and came out within a week of my call. They did the work quickly, neatly, and efficiently. They were also very inexpensive.

Nick responded quickly and was able to determine and correct the problem, which other companies gave me a runaround about, swiftly and at an excellent price. I'm pretty picky and recommend him highly.

I can’t say enough about this company. After my experience with them, my neighbor even started using and very pleased. They have always been responsive and on time. The last time was a cold rainy November and I really expected them to cancel, but sure enough they showed up ON TIME. Very friendly, courteous, and their prices are in line with everyone else’s . They take before and after pictures and make recommendations that will improve the gutter system if they notice a problem. I highly Highly recommend them!

Mr. Rivers responded to my call for a quote right away. He was able to give me a quote on his first visit. He started the work 2 days later. I was extremely pleased with the end result and the price. He was professional and courteous.

It went very well and I was very pleased. I had a part of my gutter come down and was bent. I thought I was going to have it replaced. When he came out to give me an estimate he said that he could fix it right there. Within in an hour it was fixed and backed up. They were reasonable and were out within one day. I would use them again in future.

My home inspector said I needed new gutters, and that is how I started the conversation with Nick Rivers Gutters. Following our conversation, the inspection took place the very next day. After the inspection, he told me it just needed cleaning and repair, and that new gutters were not necessary. A few days later, they stopped by and were in and out within an hour. They repaired, cleaned, and covered my gutters! I am so glad that there are companies still around that do not oversell you, provide honest opinions, and great customer service. Oh! I was extremely happy with the price, too!

Went well. This is the second time Nick has cleaned my gutters- I have a big old house - not an easy job, I know because I have been doing it myself for 16 years and got tired of climbing ladders. I would not hesitate to recommend him - very professional and definitely worth the money

The cleaning was scheduled on a fairly short notice, about a week. The estimate was relatively high, considerably higher than other companies on the "A" list companies on Angie's list. From the reviews, I thought the extra amount would be justified by the extra detail they claim to give to the job. The worker showed up on the day promised. The gutters were cleaned very well, as expected, with before and after images, which is a nice touch, so I didn't have to follow up on their work. I paid a premium in going with Nick Rivers' company, to try and get that extra service you expect at a premium price. In retrospect, the $40 or $50 extra they charge was probably not worth the added expense, I got essentially the same level of service and professionalism as I would expect with any other company, not really value added, and not particularly exemplary. I'll try another "A" list company from Angie's List next time to compare.

I called on a rainy Saturday morning to set up an appointment for a quote. The response was incredibly fast--Nick was at my house in less than an hour because he wanted to see the leaking I had described while the rain was still falling. He provided me with a reasonable estimate and even did a few repairs at that time. Since the required sealant needed a dry surface, he arranged to do the remaining work three days later, after the weather cleared. The work was completed as agreed and that evening I received an e-mail message with "before" and "after" photos. I was impressed by the efficiency, knowledge, and professionalism of this company, and recommend them highly.

Informed me that I did not need any major repairs or extensions, which I was prepared to undertake. I will probably use him next year to provide a gutter cover system.

I liked the fact that they took digital photos before and after so you actually knew they did something. The cleaning went fine, but we had a minor incident. We have underground drainage and they left drains clogged. They had to come back out to fix that. My husband was very irritated about it.

I contacted Mr. Rivers on a Sunday morning and described the problem and he gave me an estimate and could come out the next day. Mr. Rivers discovered that the down spout was not secured properly to the gutter. He secured the downspout and added extra support to the gutter.
