Went smooth from beginning to end. I dropped off the items, I was called with the price, and I told them to go ahead, and the work was done promptly.
Description of Work: I had a set of brass light fixtures that were covered with years of paint. They promised to remove the paint and clean the items, which they did, on time and as originally priced. I am very satisfied with the service and the work product.

This project from start to finish was probably one of the easiest jobs we have done in quite some time, thanks to Frank. He did exactly what he said he would do and there were no surprises other than having our table look like it did the day we purchased it.
Description of Work: The quality of work that we received from this company is second to none. They refinished the surface of our maple kitchen table, and it looks brand new. We are VERY "picky" folks, and are not the easiest to please. The Towne Stripper exceeded our expectations.

These two pieces were important to me because they had belonged to my grandmother. I wanted to keep them in my home but needed to find a way to make them modern enough to fit in with the decor in my adult daughter's newly remodeled room which I was turning into a guest room. I had bought a new bed which was a matte black finish, "ealry American" style but modernized, and so I needed to make sure the vanity and bench blended in. Frank came out to my house and looked at the pieces, gave me an estimate, and then picked them up. He was always on time and just so nice to talk to. A real sweetheart! I am SO pleased with the final product! My MomMom's vanity looks so beautiful, I know she is smiling down on me. I can still see her sitting there brushing her hair back in the day. And I am so happy I have something so beautiful to remind me of her. They did an AMAZING job and it was worth every penny! I would use this company again in a hearbeat. The job they did is just unbelievable!

After my grandmother had to go to a nursing home in the mid 1980's, her house was sold and the contents sold mostly to the person who bought her house. I took this piece of furniture and had used it in my young daughter's room more or less as is. After my dear husband died in January, 2010, I set out on a journey to get our home back into pristine condition. I found the Town Stripper on Angie's List and Frank and his wife came out and picked up my grandmother's vanity and bench. I wanted to keep it, but I wanted it to have more of a contemporary flair to go along with the new bed I was buying from Ethan Allen. This was a modern interpretation of an early american desiign. i was convetring my daughter's bedroom into a guestroom. (I am certain that she and her husband to be will be the most frequent guests but I do think others will come!) It is simply beautiful and the work FRank and his team did is just spectacular!
Description of Work: My grandmother's vanity circa 1920 was stripped and painted flat black to blend with the new furniture I purchased for a guestroom.

They did an excellent job restoring the cedar chest. They have repaired and refinished a number of pieces of furniture for me over the years, and their work is always excellent, done in a timely manner and the prices are reasonable. They have excellent customer relationships, and Frank, Jason and Dave are top notch. I recommend them to everyone who needs furniture repaired and refinished.

Frank (the owner) came to my home to do the estimate, and took away one shelf to test for stripping suitability. Several days later, he called me to come to the shop to look at how the sample had stripped and decide if I wanted to proceed. I did, and approximately 10 days later (the intervening Easter holiday slowed things down a little), he picked up the desk and took it to his shop. His team called me within the week, once the entire desk had been stripped, to have me stop by to see how it would look when stained. Several days after that, my desk was delivered to my new home, looking gorgeous and glamorous and perfect! I love these guys. They are highly professional and clearly passionate about what they do, but also the warmest, nicest human beings. I love their work, and I love them, too!

Frank picked up the table in October and it was returned right before Thanksgiving. Frank was very professional. Overall the project went very well. I do plan to use them again.
Description of Work: They refinished a large Ethan Allen Pine dinning set and did an excellent job. I believe that it is now better than it was when I bought it. The price is good. They took a little longer than expected to finish the job, but it was worth it.

The people at the Towne Stripper were great. When circumstances forced me to ask if they could finish our order two weeks earlier than anticipated, they not only agreed, they got it done three weeks earlier. They came to the house, provided an estimate and then picked up the furniture at an arranged date. Less than a week later, I drove to their workshop in Parkville to make final decisions about stains/paint. That interim step saved me from making a big mistake. (Once I saw how beautiful the stripped bedroom set looked, I knew it should be covered with a simple stain, not painted as originally planned.) They seem to love what they do and they were incredibly nice to work with

The owner, Frank came to the house and looked at the table and gave me an estimate for the job. He took the table right then to his shop. He had the table a few weeks because of all the rain we were having and they could not work on it with the humidity we had. But when he finished the table he delivered to my home. When I first saw the table again I was just so happy with the results of his work. You could not tell that the table was ever damaged. He matched the stain perfectly. He did not charge me for pick up or delivery. I would definitely use this company again.

This business is close to where I work; I dropped off the end table Friday morning, and was given a reasonable quote. They were actually able to do the work that day; they called me, and I picked it up on the way home. The staff person was very friendly, and took the time to give me some advice on applying a new finish.

We had two antique chairs. He didn't do anything before we talked about what would be best. He stained the hi-chair and fixed it. We also had a child's chair that needed work. He suggested a few changes and stripped it. He returned the chairs right back to antique condition. He was just excellent.

These chairs are at least 105 years old. They belonged to my husband's father when he was a child. My husband's father was born in 1904 and he used the chairs; my husband is now 82 years old and he used the chairs as a child. Our 2 sons, 53 and 51, also used the chairs, as did our granddaughter, who is now 26. We had them refinished for our great grandson to use. He is now 8 months old. The reason I call the one a high chair/rocker is because the chair has a spring lever on the back so that when you pull it up, the chair goes down and forms a rocking chair. When you want it to be a high chair, just pull the lever up and the chair becomes a high chair again.
Description of Work: Stripped and refinished two chairs, a high chair/rocker and a child's chair. Before he put a finish on them, he notified us so we could examine his work and choose the stain we wanted. When we decided on the stain, he completed his work. Since no longer had a "caning person," he recommended Ann Qwinn to do the caning. She did an excellent job. She replaced the seat on the high chair/rocker and put a back and a seat on the child's chair. The caning for both chairs was $170. All in all, it was well worth the price for a job well done.
