The work is excellent. The chairs are at least 60 years old and they look fantastic. It took about a month. Jason was professional and responsive.

The Towne Stripper was chosen based on the reviews on Angie's list. There were a few communication missteps at the outset but I blame them on me and not Frank (owner, I believe, of The Towne Stripper). This unit was put together with four (4) steel clamps (that becomes important a little later), and that's it. I took it apart so that all Frank needed to transport was the base. Frank and I spoke on the phone about when to expect him to arrive and he was right on time. I've been in sales just about all of my professional career so customer service and punctuality are quite important to me. When Frank arrived the house was a bit chaotic. We were in the middle of having the house re-carpeted. Frank took a long look at the piece needing repair, asked some questions, and gave me a price and a time frame in which he expected the work to be done. I felt very comfortable with him and was quite pleased with the estimate of the cost and how long it would be before we had it back. About two weeks BEFORE when Frank said it was likely to expect to have it back, I got a call letting me know he would be here with the piece on 6.18 about noon. A few minutes before noon on the 18th Frank pulled up, right on time as promised. Earlier I mentioned the four clamps. Here is where their importance come into play. I had asked Frank when he picked up the base if he would take some time to help put it back together. Seems simple until you realize that those four clamps, the age and issues with the back all contributed to a large amount of aggravation on both of our parts. Just when we thought we had it, something would not line up or pop loose. I told Frank several times that there was no reason he should stay and that I would try it later on my own along with my wife. True to his word, and I'm sure not to let it beat him, he would not leave until it was done. We persevered for well over two hours until we finally got it together. I was, and am, very thankful to Frank for sticking it out. I feel certain that without his help the armoire would still be sitting in pieces. The cost came in right where he said it would. The base looks great and is now sturdy enough to handle what it was intended to handle. I have only the highest regard for Frank and those who did the work. It is probably stronger now than when it was new a century ago. I know often you hear about those who do this type of work, and contractors in general, never delivering on time or within the quote. I feel very comfortable saying that The Towne Stripper is nothing like that. Frank and company do what they say and deliver as promised. At whatever point in the future I need this type of service, The Towne Stripper will not be my first call, it will be my only call.
Description of Work: Repaired the base to a 100+ year old armoire. I was very hesitant to have this work done due to the age but moreso because the unit belonged to my grandmother and brings back wonderful memories of seeing it in her house for so many years.

He did a fantabulous job. It's hard to find someone who really appreciates antique furniture. He was awestruck. He took his time with it and did what he had to do. I found him on Angie's List. The price was comparable to the job he did and the skill he provided. However, he didn't contact me to finish something that he said he was going to finish.

They did an outstanding job. They were courteous, punctual and their work was outstanding. We purchased a $1700 inlay table and paid them $2500 to refinish. The table easily could be sold for $5000 now. I could not offer a higher recommendation.

We had a great experience working with Frank. He refinished a table that has been in our family for decades and it looks absolutely beautiful. He quoted a very fair price and went above and beyond with attention to detail in his work. He and his crew handled pick up and delivery and were very easy to work with.

After talking on the phone, I took my bookcase to their location. The bookcase, an old family heirloom, had a warped side and was pulling apart. I dealt with Jason who was very personable, knowledgeable and professional. I was concerned that the bookcase might not be repairable. Jason assured me that it could be repaired and restored. He gave me an estimate for both cost and time to complete. The work was done ahead of the estimated time and the cost was within the estimated range. I have my bookcase back and it looks great. I definitely recommend the Towne Stripper and would use them in the future.

'The Town Stripper' made arrangements to pick up my bookcase (which was my great-grandfather's), strip, sand, and finish the item. It turned out beautifully! I am so pleased with the craftsmanship/workmanship of the crew. They took time to talk with me about what they felt should be done and made good on all of their suggestions. When it was finished, we coordinated a convenient time for its delivery. I wouldn't hesitate one second to utilize the services of 'The Town Stripper'>

We had a wooden desk that was damaged by flood water and in desperate need of repair. I called frank and he was very helpful about setting a time for pick up and explained the process of repairing the desk. It took a a couple of months due to the amount of work this business does but it was well worth the wait. The desk is beautiful and we could not be more pleased with the end result. You can tell the care that went into the repair and refinishing. I will use them again in the future. It is nice to see businesses that take such pride in their work.

Frank arrived at our home on time and gave us estimates to repair an antique china closet and a dining room arm chair. Several days later, he arrived and collected the furniture to be repaired. Less than a week after that, the furniture was repaired and delivered back to our home. Both pieces were repaired beautifully!

Frank was able to come over one day after we called to look at our chairs. We were concerned about the seats because the slabs had come apart in a number of places. There were a total of three chairs out our set of six. He was very knowledgeable, and expressed some concern about one of the chairs. He explained exactly what he would do, and what it would cost. The cost would depend on how much he would have to take apart to fix the chairs. It was about three weeks before Christmas, and he was apologetic about probably not having them ready for Christmas. We did not care, but he did call the Friday before and they were ready. They total cost was less than the maximum estimate. He even polished them for free, and they looked wonderful.

I would not use The Towne Stripper again. One of the posts wasn't square when they put it back on the bed. He said that it was that way when he got it. That's just wrong. He messed up and wouldn't own it. He does pick up and that's huge.

Estimate never received so job was not done.
Description of Work: I contacted Frank at the Towne Stripper to get an estimate on having a bedroom set either refinished or painted. I left a message and he called back and left me a message the next day. A few days later he came out and met with my husband who showed him the furniture. He said he would get back with us in a few days with an estimate for both painting and refinishing. Two weeks later we still had not heard from him. My husband called him again and he said he had left the estimate paperwork at his home and he would send it to us. It never came and that was about a month ago. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

The tables were picked up on July 6, 2011. Since I was in no hurry for the tables, I called in mid September to determine when they would be finished. I was told it would take another month because of the high humidity during the summer had prevented them from almost all refinishing work. The tables were delivered on October 7, 2011. The tables were beautifully refinished.

On Sat 15th I dropped off the broken pieces of my chair. The chair and the pieces were examined and the price to put it back togather was quoted to me on the drop off day. I was told it would take about a week to fix and was given a claim form which had the item I had dropped off, the method they would use to repair( reglue the base of chair) and the quoted price, as well as my contact info indicated on the form. I was called on Thursday 20th to let me know chair was fixed. I drove over to pick up chair and was extremely happy to see that my beautiful chair was indeed back in one piece. The Towne Stripper had even wiped it down and polished it up for me and took it from the shop and put in my jeep for me. All in all from the first call to me coming to pick it up, the customer service was awesome and the people were extremely friendly.
Description of Work: I had a dining room chair which was completely broken apart and I needed it to be put back togather to complete my dining room set. I researched furniture repair companies on Angie's List and was happy to find that the Towne Stripper was right around the corner from me. I called on Fri 14th told them about my chair, asked about the hours of business and was told to drop it off.
