I received 5 quotes for the replacement of windows and siding on my townhome. The quotes I received from other contractors ranged from 9500-15000! I was slightly skeptical of the low price from Schafer and grandson, but I was provided with two other homes in my area where work had been completed. Schafer and grandson were also referred from a co-worker of a relative, so I figured, what the heck, I'll hire them. I could not be more pleased. A crew came out to install my windows and were finished in a few hours. There were a few rain delays with the siding installation, which is to be expected (you can't install siding in the rain). Dayson contacted me to postpone the date and was very flexible with the rescheduling. Another crew came out to complete the siding and were very efficient and the work was excellent. Finally, the window crew returned to install my storm door and again, did a fantastic job. I HIGHLY recommend Schafer and grandson for any windows, siding, or door installation jobs. I have referred them to my parents and all of my neighbors and I will happily rehire them if/when I purchase a new front door.

Their pricing was reasonable. I thought they did an excellent job. They were very professional in explaining what they could do to improve the look, what different materials they could use and they didn't push me into something.

They were easy to get in touch with and they made very clear what the options were in terms of the work that was getting done. They helped me to get a good balance of an affordable price but quality material. They were timely with the service.

The work went well,with a few adjustments necessary due to idiosyncracies of my home. Travis really seemed to be the leader of the team, adressing any of the idiosyncracies with a smooth confidence and sharp set of skill. Jason. who seemed to take care of most of the caulking did so as if he was an artist. Ron's work ethic was quiet and relentless, carrying material in and out, quietly and focused, supporting the same kind of effort, and craftmanship, of Travis and Jason.The project took two days. Early on the last day, Dayson came by to check the finishing of the job. There was a problem with my shades going back up due to the thickness that comes with putting in any replacement window due to the standard thickness. He demonstrated his commitment to doing the job right and providing me complete satisfaction by going out to get new brackets that are made to replace the old ones so that my old shades went back up perfectly.They cleaned up , leaving the grounds looking as if nothing had ever occurred arond the house. I could not be more satisfied about the way the job went and the way it looks. The windows look great inside and out. I can only say that they get my highest recommendation. You can check out other companies and be swayed by their soooth talking salesmen but I am telling you, you will be satisfied with the experience in hiring the company Grandfather Schafer created, has turned over to Grandson Dayson and the team that delivers the kind of craftsmanship and overall satisfaction that is hard to find nowdays.

Dayson Shafer, the current owner of the business, arrived on time for an early-morning appointment. He took careful measurements, discussed options, and really took the time to explain the work that would be done. During that meeting, I really felt like I had found a great contractor who lived up to its billing on Angie's List, and looked forward to knowing the work would be done well. I asked twice whether the project was too small for him and he said not at all, and that I would receive an estimate within the next few days. That was on Sept. 2, 2011. As of today (Sept. 20), I have heard nothing from Larry Schafer & Grandson Contractors. I've called, left messages, and not one word in response. As far as I'm concerned, Dayson Schafer is no different than the many contractors out there who lack integrity and professionalism and give the industry a lousy reputation.

They did a good job and I liked their cost. I think their quality of work is good as well but I don’t think their good at follow through. I will use their services again in the future.

It would be impossible to overstate how outstanding this company is. Their professionalism, experience, and commitment to customer service was evident from the start: Dayson provided an in-home estimate that was fast, friendly, informative, and competitive. (You won't encounter any pushy sales tactics or price jacking with this local, family-owned company, which is quite an anomaly in the replacement window business.) Needless to say, it didn't take us long to decide that we wanted Larry Schafer and Grandson to install our windows-- and I couldn't be happier with the choice that we made. It took about a month for our windows to arrive, but once they did, a two-man installation crew came out and finished the entire job-- impeccably, I might add-- in a day-and-a-half. They were punctual, polite, and cleaned up beautifully. Best of all, the windows look AMAZING. Larry Schafer and Grandson delivered quality installation of a quality product... and it shows. Replacement windows are an expensive investment, and finding the right company for the job is an intimidating task. So let me save you some trouble: If you're in the market for new windows, call Larry Schafer and Grandson. Your house and your wallet will thank you for it.

We ordered a new bay window from this company after getting estimates from a total of 7 contractors. They were punctual the day of the estimate as well as the day of installation. There was no pressure to buy whatsoever. On the day of the installation, all were professional, kind and pleasant. They worked the entire time, no slacking at all. I couldn't believe how well they cleaned up when they left! You couldn't even tell they were here. I will certainly have them back to replace the rest of my windows without hesitation. I'm so glad to have found a contractor that I trust. I would highly recommend them! All of my neighbors have commented on how nice my new widow looks. These guys did an amazing job!

I have not made a decision yet. He quoted $100 for 1 window. He had good remarks on Angie's List. I kind of understood the $200 surcharge because there is a certain amount of work they actually do regardless of how many windows you have done and it seems that that the business to give people discount is on the surcharge. I didn't really have any problem with them except that I figured I might as well wait till it gets a little warmer before taking out the windows.

We were extremely pleased with them. They were prompt and were clean. They did a great job. Overall their price was the best of all the people we talked to. They didn?t try to oversell anything to us.

They sent a two man crew and finished the job that same day. They were very careful with the installatlion and clean up. Employees were polite and quite capable. They even repaired a door bell that was broken without charge. I was very pleased with the end result and the crew. Very experienced people.

We couldn?t be happier with the overall projects. After calling several contractors to get some estimates, we were disappointed in the lack of responsiveness as well as the pricing from most of the contractors. We then called Larry Schafer and Grandson through the recommendation of a friend and Dayson Schafer called us back immediately after we left a message to get a price on a steel door. He was very courteous and knowledgeable and met with us to measure the door and explained our options. The installation was completed shortly thereafter and we were surprised at the promptness and cleanliness of the job. We then asked him for options for a front door and we ordered a gorgeous door with beveled glass and side lights. We never thought we could afford such a beautiful door, but the price was more than reasonable. The workmanship on this door was so professional and completely transformed the front of our house. Later we called them back to measure for new windows, including a bow window, and again we were pleased at the pricing. That job was completed in a day and once again the house was left spotless. The trim work and attention to detail was amazing! The windows are so easy to clean and have also helped with our energy bill. I can?t say enough good things about this company. They were talented, courteous, professional, and reasonable.

overall, the project went very well. The price was exactly what they quoted, the wait time for the windows to be made was exactly what they quoted, the installation went very well, they were quick and efficient, and did not leave a mess!! they even helped put my curtains back up. This is a Grandfather and Grandson working together, it's so nice to see. This is what America is all about!!
