We had a 10:00am meetings scheduled, it’s 4:00pm now and haven’t heard a word. Needless to say we won’t be using Schafer and grandson again. The grandfather did excellent work.

It went very well. They were polite, efficient, and did the job in a timely manner.

Doors ordered and ready as estimated. Crew showed on time. Very polite and professional. Cleaned-up after job finished. After 3 weeks, Doors look and operate great.

I wanted to replace my 23 year old builder installed French doors to the patio with a good quality sliding glass door. I got 4 estimates and though Dayson Shafer was not the cheapest price (he was in the middle), I had more confidence they would install it right. Wow, am I glad I went with them. When I was getting estimates, some of the estimators made a big deal of the difference in size between the French doors and the standard slider, like it was going to be a difficult installation, but not Dayson. He was like we do this all the time. The quality of the door he offered was very good. The time between signing the contract and installation was 6 weeks, and the installation took about 4 hours. Chris did most of the installation, Dayson assisted for about an hour. The door was installed just like Dayson had told me, with proper flashing, sealing, and framing. They do so well they make it look easy, but none of the builder installed doors in my house are done correctly so it must not be. Chris cleaned up completely before he left and the door looks great. This is a customer focused group of folks. When Chris was finishing up, I asked about the foot lock I wanted. He said one did not come with the door, but he had one in his truck and then installed it for me. No questions, no hesitation, just first class service. Highly recommended!

These guys are simply awesome! Their level of professionalism is outstanding and their craft is excellent. They are a no-nonsense company and will not try to scam you. They are upfront about their costs and are fine moving on if you choose another company.... but why would you? A company like this is a rare find and you will not be disappointed. No one/company is perfect but I will say that they must work on communication.... they are swamped but I am happy to oblige the communication shortfall since they provide excellent work.

New Acadia replacement windows with 6/6 colonial contour grids and argon gas are in, look great, and keep much more sound out than before. [two thumbs up emoticons]

Dayson was great. He was the only person (out of four quotes) who said of the entry door, "You know, I think I can fix that, and it would cost a lot less than replacing it, since it's otherwise in good shape." (All the other companies were just happy to sell me an expensive new unit.) He was able to reseat the door unit, and replaced and the storm door. The siding job took longer than I had expected (partially due to weather delays), but the crew was very responsive, and if I didn't quite like something, they figured out a way to change it with still making it work and looking great. They took the time to make it right. They used top quality materials, cleaned up after themselves, and took care with the plantings around the house. I was completely satisfied and would definitely used the company again.

They fit us into the schedule the next day to secure the door. We got a great price, and the installers were very friendly. Another company was trying to talk me into buying a whole new door, but since only the jam needed repair, Dayson Schaffer and his team did AMAZING work rebuilding it, without talking us into buying something we didn't need. Highly recommend.

I must first say I do my homework on everything. Moreover, I'm a type "A" personal who expects A LOT from anyone I do business with. I believe my review -could- stop here since everything went better than I expected. However, I feel that I need to add a few more things about my experience. Dayson and his crew Chris and Travis are exception people, least we talk about their work. NO Home Depot or 7-Eleven day workers here! His guys are experienced and have been with him a long time and it shows. The three guys did my above work in a bit less than 2 days and made it look easy. They worked like a well oiled machine together. No head-scratching, cussing, confused looks or lunches on my front lawn in the shade for an hour. Just very steady, confident, purposeful and consistent quality work. They never rushed the job at all. No missing parts or pieces or Home Depot runs because they forgot something. They were prepared when they showed-up and they showed-up on time both days with a positive attitude, professional, courteous, and ready to work. I have never had someone work in my home I have not had to clean-up after. Dayson and his crew are now the exception. Vacuum and cleaning rag in hand, the guys continuously cleaned during the install and demo; not just at the end of the day before they ran out the door like most others. I also found no cigarette butts or trash tumbling around my yard in the wind days later. When they left, you would have no idea anything went on in my home or driveway. The actual install went perfectly and so very smoothly. I was impressed with the crews exquisite attention to detail. I believe the small things -are- the big things. These guys never let me down with fit and finish. I did not have to go back and detail/trim-out their work, they exceeded my expectations with their fit and trim carpentry. And with all the mess and damage they -could- have created to my walls and ceilings; (etc!) they damaged nothing. This includes my old, original, hardwood floors that are easily scratched and/or dented. Dayson even added a few beautiful final touches/surprises to my job making my wife and I so delighted. It was so easy to to make the final payment to Dayson. Best money I have spent on my home, we are so pleased. The one -possible- challenge was staying in contact with Dayson. It is best to call him directly on his mobile. I use email with ease and rely that most people do the same. Dayson can take a day (at most) to get back with you if you use email. I never had an issue since my job was not pressing but, if you're the kind who wants answers in real time, call him. He is a family guy running a small business, so I totally get it and respect that. Dayson's Grandfather taught him well. Door and window installs is all he has ever know in his life. He and his crew will never be unemployed. Let their work speak for themselves. Dayson had a bit of a challenge exceeding my expectations, however I am overjoyed with Dayson and his crew. Honest, reliable, professional, detail oriented, respectful, passionate about his work. I love my new doors and have no regrets at all. Do I need to say more???? Support folks like this doing it right the first time. Thank you guys!!!

I solicited a number of quotes to get a ProVia Front Door. It was almost comical to see how different companies represented themselves and tried to sell the job. Dayson was not only the most reasonable in terms of price, but he also gave me the most confidence that he knew how to get the job done. Other vendors often sent salesmen, where Dayson (who clearly knows his way around a job site) was involved every step of the way. He is also one of the most chill dudes, and I really liked that. He seemed like an honest, down to earth guy and I can confirm that he is. The door went in and I was blown away by the craftsmanship. Travis does amazing work and all of the guys are so polite. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They are high quality at very reasonable cost. Don't hesitate to solicit a quote from them. You won't be disappointed with their services.

Dayson understood that I didn't require a top of the line sliding door, but efficient and durable. He shared the type of door that he typically uses. He took all the measurements gave explicit detail about the work to be performed. He didn't attempt to do any sales talk. He was very professional and direct. He quoted a me a price, but when it was determined I could use a second sliding door he gave me an additional discount. They caulked the new doors and cleaned up very nicely. The completed the work in a little less than a full day. He also gave put door stops and upgraded me to nickel handles with keys so that I could lock from the outside for no additional costs. I truly had a pleasant experience and LS&G will be the first call in the near future for when I replace my windows. Some of the larger companies that came out to give estimates sent salesman that don't know about the door and window business. I received 2 quality sliding doors from LS&G for the of one based on the other estimates received. I would recommend LS&G to anyone needing a door or windows.

My new home was in need of windows. I contacted LS&G to have them installed. Dayson responded very quickly with an estimate. He came out within days to measure and make sure the windows would fit. We discussed several days that worked for me and set a date for installation as well as a backup plan in case of inclement weather. They arrived on time and were so nice and professional. The installation was fast and efficient. They cleaned up the installation mess and left only after making sure we were satisfied with the job. Using them saved me over $1,000 compared to others. I highly recommend them for any home improvement. They are local and not a big company so you are supporting a local business. I will contacting them in the future to replace my roof and siding when it is time. Thank you LS&G for such a great job!!

Used Clearview Window and Door instead and had an amazing experience.

I shopped for 4-5 contractors off Angie's list to price what it would cost to get my side door replaced. LS&G was $500 - $1,000 cheaper than the other companies FOR THE SAME DOOR. Dayson answers all your questions and has Years Of Experience. His workmanship is EXCELLENT (he even brought a piece of equipment to bend the metal so it would fit perfectly around the door frame). He was able to put two pieces of "door stuff" form the old door to the new door. He is easy to reach, answers question, and does fine work. A bonus is that he is a relaxed person. The whole process from A - Z was completely painless. His company also does windows and siding (and maybe roofing?). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company. I have been re-doing my house for many years now and have lots of experience with contractors and estimates. I rarely meet a contractor that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. MHIC #123783 is on his card.

I called for an estimate appointment and Dayson was able to meet me the very next day. I explained that I wanted to replace two exterior doors, the main front door and our basement door. He explained the type of doors he installed and left me a catalog to pick the types of doors and options that I wanted. I emailed him my decision and he emailed me back the cost of each door. Since the basement door was a special order (because of height) it took quite a bit of time, but we were in no hurry. On the day of installation Travis and Joe showed up exactly on time. Travis really knew his job and made the whole process look very easy. They removed the old doors and had the new doors installed in a little over three hours. Both doors fit and look great, we are very pleased. The whole process went so very smoothly.

Larry Schafer & Grandson Contractor, Inc. (LS&G) is an exceptional company as I have personally found. Dayson Schafer, the Grandson, has carried on the family tradition of honesty, responsiveness and being reasonably priced. Dayson and his team of "Travis, Ryan and Joe" are personable and consistently provide quality craftsmanship for the installation of their doors and windows. On Sept 2nd, last month, they installed a Pro-Via Steel Entry Door on the rear of my home. As the interior of my house had a downward-slanting ceiling, the customary Inswing-door in most homes could not be used and required an Outswing-door instead. The rear of my home is now protected and secure. Impressed with LS&G's workmanship on Sept 2nd, I ordered 5 of their Arcadia replacement windows with Argon-gas between the double-panes. Just as their Steel Entry Door required 4 weeks at the manufacturer, so did the replacement windows. The 5 new windows were installed on Oct 7th, replacing those in worst shape in my house. As LS&G strive for the peak of perfection, oftentimes I found they did extras beyond what is expected of them. When the windows were installed and the work-team cleaned up the work area and departed, I was struck by the quietness within my home as a result of the 5 new replacement windows. I AM CERTAIN YOU, TOO, WILL BE PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK!

I feel words are not adequate to describe Mr. Dayson Schafer and his team (Travis and Ryan). From first contact with Dayson in May 2015 when I received an estimate until the final installation and then follow-up call has been fantastic. This is a small, family-owned company but Dayson really does work hard at getting in touch with everyone as quickly as he can. But keeping that in mind sometimes you may need to reach out more than once - but let me tell you it is worth it. Dayson's professionalism and integrity is something that you don't find every day. His grandfather has taught him well :-) In each conversation I had with Dayson, I knew and felt he was a straight shooter - and while yes he is running a business - he is not out to gouge your pockets. He was nice enough to look at a few items at my house during the first estimate even though they were "down the road" projects. He gave me honest answers on what he thought could wait and not wait and how to "make it through" till the funding was available for the next project. We spoke about everything from the door he came to quote to some issues with the siding on one side of my house. While we did have a longer than anticipated wait on the door being manufactured, Dayson was apologetic the entire time (for things outside his immediate control). He kept me informed the best he could. I remained patient because I found I really trusted Dayson and couldn't imagine working with someone else. On the day of installation, Travis and Ryan were to the house first and got to work immediately. All the while dealing with me asking tons of questions :-) They were patient with me and so nice to talk to. They explained everything they were doing very well and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Dayson was "in and out" throughout the installation and portico fix but was just a phone call away if I had a question. I did question the portico a little bit and both Travis and Dayson explained the process a bit more - replaced a bit more than originally estimated - all to ensure I the customer felt confident in there work. Before they left, we did talk a bit more about the issue I had with my siding when the weather changes - They were nice enough to climb up the ladder and fix it at no charge. Eventually it may need replaced but they were so helpful in explaining what they saw and how this should keep me from being on a ladder in the cold and wind :-) Dayson has also followed up with me via phone and email about the work. We just talked recently as he stands behind his work. My screen door is a little "tight" so he has said he would come to adjust it. I also sent him a photo of a bend in my screen door, I am not sure if it was there or if it happened later and he said he would address that as well.. While I am in no rush, he stands by his work and will be out in the next few weeks to address these minor things. We have had a few rains since the install and I have no more leak in my door :) I can't imagine working with anyone else as I go forward on the type of work he does. This is a first class company and it was so nice to work with them.

The initial attempt to contact LS&G was not encouraging. I called the number listed on Angie's List but did not receive a response after one week. The reviews were so good I decided to try e-mailing. I got a response to that within 48 hours. The owner, Dayson Schafer, said they had been having problems with their phone system. We agreed on a date & time for an estimate, one of 3 I received from Angie's List A-rated businesses. Dayson arrived promptly. He quickly surveyed the existing door and what we wanted done. During the discussion, it was clear his main focus was on making his customers happy. That philosophy proved ABUNDANTLY true in the following weeks. Dayson had many useful suggestions based on his years of experience. We agreed on the products and Dayson provided us with a firm estimate that was almost $2,000 LOWER than the high bidder, for the same products and installation methodology. He was also flexible with lock hardware (all of our entry doors used the same types of locks, keyed the same). [The high bidder had insisted on using lock hardware preferred by the door manufacturer (different than what we were using) which meant accepting that or using a lower-quality door available with our preferred locks.] The pricing difference is largely due to LS&G being a small, family-owned and operated business with minimal overhead, such as no separate sales staff. We sent the requested deposit in late July. Dayson contacted us in early September and we agreed to install on the 15th. Dayson and two assistants began work at approximately and ended about 3-1/2 hours later. All of them were friendly and respectful of our house and property. The workmanship was superb, with the new doors sealing perfectly to the frame (no light visible at any edge) and all the locks and latches working smoothly. Everything is maintenance-free. Dayson provided some helpful last minute suggestions regarding peep sites which made us decide to not install them even though he already had them. He volunteered to return if we changed our minds, at no additional cost. (We are not expecting that to be necessary.) We could not have been happier and would use LS&G again in a heartbeat!

Perfect! I had two other estimates from two local businesses that only installed ProVia doors. Both estimates were over a thousand more. Their prices were out of our budget. Went on Angies List and located Larry Schafer and Grandson. Grandson, Dayson Schafer came out for an estimate. Dayson is direct and to the point. He gave my husband and I the estimate with no hard sell. I liked that. Since I knew about ProVia, no info was needed about what a great door it was. Dayson's price was in our budget. Signed contract. Installation went great. Travis and Ryan came out and did a great job. Front Door and Storm Door look perfect. Since this door has a lifetime limited transferable warranty, this should be the last door we ever buy.

Dayson is someone you don't run across very often. He stopped by my home while he had a crew in the neighborhood, knowing I needed help with a few things around the house. He was kind enough to take the time to fix a piece of siding and explain to me exactly what I needed to do to repair another piece of siding. He also instructed me as to what kind of hinge I would need for a door that should be self-closing, and took a look at a window sash and recommended a fix. I might pass on the window, but the other things I will be able to do myself. He would not accept payment of any kind, just goes to show you that for some people it is not all about the money, and I admire that in a person. His kindness was very much appreciated, and if I were not moving, I would definitely use his services in the future. There is no doubt that I will recommend his services to my friends here, though. A great example of a genuinely kind and caring individual.
