Dayson came out to my house on our schedule visit. He was right on time, and very down to earth and easy to speak to. He took measurements, gave recommendations, and gave a very fair ball park estimate of a price to replace our front & back entry and screen doors. Overall the visit was very pleasant and I was looking forwarding to working with him. Dayson requested that I e-mail him the model #'s of the specific doors (from Lowes) I was interested in, which I did that night. He told me he would put a quote together and e-mail it to me that same night, or maybe the next morning at the latest. Unfortunately, 4 weeks later I have yet to receive that quote via e-mail, nor has there been any phone calls. No communication whatsoever. I myself have not attempted to reach out to him either, to be fair. But I figured if he disappears like this before even receiving my money, I'm fearful of what it would be like after he does. It really seemed like it was going to be a great experience up front but unfortunately there was no follow through. I have since reached out to other companies to get the work done.

Dayson Schaefer is the window and door contractor everyone dreams about--he was problem-free! He is very friendly, knowledgeable, and honest, arrives at your home when he says he will come, and does fine, quality work. If something isn't working correctly, he will return and fix anything at no charge, even if it's not the fault of the product or workmanship, for instance, a natural occurrence. He also returns phone calls and emails promptly and is flexible about working around a customer's schedule. He installed 7 casement windows, replaced the frames and put in a back door. He painted the back door himself to match the tan siding because the one we wanted only came in white, and he didn't charge for this. The windows look fabulous and open and close smoothly, as does the back door. He also insulated the front door at no charge even though we didn't buy it from him. My husband and I were delighted with the quality and workmanship that Dayson Schaefer and his employees provided, and we recommend them without hesitation. They are excellent!

The old door was removed and the new door installed in approximately 90 minutes. Dayson and Travis did an excellent job. They answered all my questions and cleaned up as well. This is a local and family owned business. The door is made locally as well. Dayson is very knowledgeable and honest. His prices were the best I found. Other estimates were from companies who wasted 30-45 minutes of my time with their sales pitches. Most also wanted to charge an extra $600-800 for installation because it had to be "specially fit." I learned that's not the case with my door. When Dayson does my windows, I won't pay extra to be "specially fit." It does not require it. I look forward to working with Dayson Schafer again.

My windows are beautiful. These guys are such a pleasure to work with. They are professional, prompt, courteous and charming. They are professionals in their field and I recommend them highly. I interviewed quiet a few window companies and NOBODY could compare in price and professionalism to this company.

Dayson was extremely responsive and professional. He came out the same day I called to provide an estimate, gave me multiple cost comparisons for door choices without any pressure about choosing a more expensive one. Instead he just presented options and the pros and cons of each. The install was done very professionally, the door quality is great, and Dayson came out personally to install a brand new frame around the door (my previous back door didn't have one) and even build a box around a weird stone / concrete portion of my step that was an eye sore. Every time we communicated with him he responded extremely quickly and definitely was genuine in his desire to do a good job and make sure everything is right. We are extremely pleased with the experience, price, and the end product. I would definitely strongly recommend them to anyone and would use them again in a heartbeat.

The quality of the work was excellent, price was very reasonable, was able to accomdate my schedule and very professional. I hardly ever have to use my heater now due to the quality of their work.

+ We shopped around to some big window names as well as names we heard advertised on the radio and then went to Angie's List to see what they said. We found good reviews for SCHAFER & GRANDSON and called. What a contrast from the larger companies! Dramatically lower price! Straight shooter, no "sale" prices, just the straight facts, no pressure. Excellent communication. Installation in one day with polite, professional, long-time employed by Schaffer team (which included the owner Dayson and trusted assistant Travis). Attention to details and unexpected discoveries (they found some moldy drywall and repaired it, former windows had been installed poorly requiring additional work on their part) and no additional cost! The ladder used for 2nd floor had scratched the aluminum siding and Dayson and Travis came out and repaired it, (along with a couple of dings they had not done, just as a courtesy since they were up on the ladder fixing the scratches.) So responsive, so professional, so competent, and most importantly...YOU SHOULD SEE MY BEAUTIFUL WINDOWS!! Biggest, scariest home improvement we've ever invested in and we couldn't be happier! First cold snap and our home is actually warm!

went great he did a fantastic job even did some extra things for me at no charge.even stained the wood and caulked a large crack at the baby window area.even gave us a paper for tax deduction for the windows.

This service was done in two parts. In October, 2013, the windows were replaced, then in December, the doors and storm door were done. The owner, Dayson Schafer, was very friendly, professional, and very eager to please. His crew of workers are excellent. They are very skilled and conscientious about doing a very professional job. They arrived promptly on the days the work was scheduled and went right to work very efficiently. We were very pleased with the outcome of both jobs. There were a couple of minor things that needed to be corrected, but they were taken care of promptly and without question. The only reason I gave a B for responsiveness was because we did have to wait for a return call from the owner a couple of times during the process, but I am sure it was because of being very busy since this is a small family owned company and the owner is present on the job most of the time and works along with his crew. The products they sell are top quality and Mr. Shafer has assured us that if there is ever a problem in the future, he will see that it is taken care of. He is a very honest and sincere person, so I believe that will be the case. We would definitely use this company in the future and would recommend him to any of our friends and neighbors.

Very good impression of the company based on the face-to-face visit for the estimate. We did not use them because they mainly purchase and install vinyl windows and we wanted a specific model of aluminum clad windows instead.

The work was very high quality. The workers arrived at the promised time and worked late both days to get the job completed in two days despite problems with doorways not being square. Extremely satisfied with the finished product. The crew was very professional, well mannered, did great cleanup each day. The price was very reasonable for two bay type windows, another large window and two entry doors with storm doors. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting high quality at a fair price. The only very small issue I had was that I did have a call or two that wasn't returned within a day or two and I had to call back (inquiring on the status of the custom made doors and windows). Also they were supposed to come back to put a piece on the front door jamb and they did not HOWEVER I never called to inquire on this either considering it a minor issue and knowing they were really busy at the time.

jIt went great. A pretty cut and dry project. Very responsive. Honest. Timely. Professional. Just really nice guys. I would recommend them to everyone. They did a beautiful, clean installation. I was elated with the product and with the workmanship. I will be calling them when I need my front kitchen door and windows replaced.

They were mediocre. The windows were put where it's going to be but they put a lot of caulk. Maybe they have done a better job and the job was alright but they put a lot of sealant caulk around the windows. However, their prices are low.

They did a good job. They had competitive pricing, the installer was personable and we are very happy with our doors.

His office responded promptly on my first contact, came out on time as scheduled and was professional while here. His estimate was simply higher than I could afford.

They were excellent. They did the work around the end of Summer in August or September and they charged me $8200. I couldn't touch the door any place else for less than $13000. So they were cheaper. Later on they replaced the windows in my bedroom and bathroom because they were getting steam stain in the middle and one had a crack and that job was about $1400. The company is a grandfather-son owned business. The grandson came out and he was a gentleman, knew what he was talking about, had his crew here and they were very neat and polite. I think many more contractors could take tips from him. I wouldn't have called him back for the windows if he hadn't don't a good job on the door. I'm very happy with them .

After several phone calls, delays and some progress, Mr. Schafer stopped returning my calls. I don't know what happened and it took a long time to get things set up. Every step took several phone calls from estimate to getting materials picked out. When last time I called and left 2 messages stating I was ready to go ahead with the work, I never heard from hm again.

The single greatest contractor experience of my entire life. Dayson was polite, professional, and a pleasure to work with. His crew? The same. They were prompt, professional, and did great work. They were BY FAR the cheapest of the three estimates I got. No hard sell. No "upsells" or other nonsense. The workmanship is terrific, the windows are beautiful, the price was great. They left my house cleaner than they found it...I am not exaggerating. Huge props to Angie's List for helping me find such a fantastic contractor. Thanks! Now, if you're looking for someone with fancy 3D architectural programs, an office staff that picks up the phone on the first ring, and slick brochures, keep looking...because that's not Dayson. But if you're looking for someone to give you quality affordable replacement windows, just call him. You may get the machine. It's a mom-and-pop business. You may get his wife. She may answer the phone "Hello?" Don't let that put you off. Just leave a message and you won't regret it.

There were a couple of stumbles along the way, but Dayson's integrity and commitment to do a good job triumphed. After receiving 3 estimates, I chose this company because even though his price was a bit higher, I felt that I could trust Dayson (he is the grandson). This turned out to be true! He helped me pick out the right door for me, didn't push me to higher price points, and honored that I wanted to keep my current storm door. While he was here for the estimate, I also showed him another door in the house that wasn't installed well. He said that he would tweak it a bit to help it seal better and wouldn't charge extra for that (which I really appreciated). I signed the contract on 10/1 and he ordered the door. The contract noted that the work would be completed within 3 -4 weeks. October flew by and was over before I knew it. Right at the end of the month, I called Dayson to see if my door was in. He got back to me promptly and scheduled installation for the next week. He and his crew arrived promptly. They were polite, respectful and efficient. They did a beautiful job and a great clean-up. The quality of the door is superb. As I was writing the check, I realized there was a loud electrical hum in my kitchen. I asked Dayson if they still had a compressor running or something. He said no and thought that the hum was my refrigerator. Arg - onto the next home repair! After he left, I checked the refrigerator and it was not humming. I identified the source of the hum (behind a cabinet) and found the electrical circuit that made it stop. I called an electrician who diagnosed the problem as the doorbell. Somehow the door installation had shorted the doorbell wire. The electrician unhooked it so the hum stopped and I called Dayson the following Monday. The short(er) version of the story is that Dayson eventually brought his own electrician to get to the root of the problem. The wires for the doorbell were in the storm door frame - not the new inner door. Perhaps the vibration of the installation pushed the wire into a nail or something. There's no telling exactly what happened or why - just that the doorbell was fine before the new door and not after. He was ready to take the cabinet off the wall and fix the doorbell box. I really didn't want to mess with pulling off the cabinet, so he suggested a battery operated doorbell. Sold! He also covered the bill from the electrician I'd called. He took full responsibility and made everything right. It is so rare these days to find someone who really stands behind their work and who truly wants the customer to be happy. My first impression of Dayson was spot on: this is an honest man with integrity. I would heartily recommend him to anyone. The doorbell short was a freak thing and is not in any way a commentary on the skill of his crew. I am totally happy with my door and thrilled to have found someone who really stands behind his work.

When I called for an estimate for two sliding glass doors with wooden frames that had been damaged by snow storm, I spoke to the grandson. He came out the next day and was very knowledgeable and professional. He proposed an alternate frame rather than the wooden ones I had. which would be maintenance-free. The doors took a little longer to arrive than I expected , but once they arrived the crew came to install. Since the original doors were older they were not a current standard size and the frames needed to be rebuilt both inside and outside. The workmanship was excellent. I have received many compliments on the doors. The grandson dealt with the insurance company and there were no problems. I ould recommend this company for sljing glass doors.
