I read all the reviews on Angie's list and was excited to see what Budget Bath could do with our Master Bathroom. I made an appointment and Dave came out to review our project. He was on-time, friendly and had wonderful design ideas. He would have been my first choice if I received an estimate that was in-line with our budget. When Dave left, he told me the estimate would be completed in about 2 weeks. I was fine with that, but the time came and went without a word. About 3-4 weeks later, I sent him a reminder email stating we were still very interested and did he have an estimate for us. He responded and said he could have one available for me by Saturday (this was a Thursday I received the email). It has been at least 3 weeks without one word. I am extremely disappointed in Dave's lack of interest in our project. His work looks like high-quality work, and I loved his design ideas. Unfortunately, I feel that our project was a "bother" to him. My husband and I were very realistic with the costs, time and work that our project needed. Dave even mentioned that he wouldn't even be able to start the work until May, which we took as a good sign that he was working that much. We were also more than willing to wait until he could do the work. I am baffled how a project that probably would have cost approximately $30,000 would not be worth the company's time, but that is exactly how we felt - that our project wasn't worth it.

We had several contractors provide us estimates for our project. After reviewing the proposals we chose Budget Bath, not because they were the lowest price but because of the sense of commitment to our project that Dave House the company?s owner portrayed. Dave was very energetic and creative when he met with us to plan the job. He had several ideas that initially I wasn?t in agreement with, but Dave assured me that the job would result in a much better product. Well despite my initial concerns, I must admit that Dave was correct in his assessment as we couldn?t be happier with the end result. And the commitment, dedication, passion, skill, etc didn?t stop with Dave. These same qualities permeated throughout the entire work crew who were all employees of Budget Bath and not subcontractors. Everyone who worked on the project from the plumbing, carpentry, tile, drywall, painting, electrical, etc. were very skilled at their profession and paid close attention to the details. As the worked progressed there were several issues that arose which are to be expected. However, Dave and his team responded to these without complaint. Whenever we had a concern or question, they were addressed without hesitation. We must say that compared to our experiences with other companies on other remodeling projects, the one we had with Dave and his team ranks at the top. We are extremely satisfied with the end result and look forward to enjoying it for years to come. We would highly recommend Budget Bath to anyone who is considering a bath remodel.

Thanks [member name removed] for the " A " review. I appreciate that you trusted us to complete your renovation. Despite being a small main bath, the bathroom we designed together turned out just great. Our client's enthusiasm was inspirational.

In doing this quote I think he will do a great job. He did another bathroom for us and I love it. I am still considering if I will do this remodel. However, if I do, I will use him. I enjoyed the experience. He is extremely professional and a good person to work with.

We had a great experience with Budget Bath. Our master bathroom was in need of significant work and we decided that now was the time to completely redo everything. Dave met with us initially where we discussed ideas and options. He then came up with a design that made excellent use of the space and would give us significant;y more storage in additional to an upgraded shower and bath and improved lighting and ventilation. The crew was prompt and professional and kept the mess to a minimum. Everything was completed to our satisfaction and we are enjoying our new bathroom. Based on the experience, we are planning on doing another major renovation to the second bathroom as well.

Thank you for your " A " review. I appreciate our clients' enthusiasm and creativity during the design process and during the construction phase. They were great to work with. Saline has very good taste and Dan had a very good understanding of construction which helped as we created the new format. We moved the toilet to another wall and built a very large closet in it's place. We built a custom shower stall with a stone seat and a ceiling mounted shower head with a custom glass enclosure. We installed a large soaking tub too. We added sophisticated lighting every where. The new bathroom is spectacular.

You need to read this. We sorely needed a tub-to-shower conversion. The tub was at least 50 years old and had been resurfaced ? badly ? it was embarrassing. We are retired, living off of our nest egg, which in today?s environment, means consuming our assets. We decided that a plain acrylic or fiberglass shower surround would be the best, budget-conscious choice. We also were ready to have something we could use when we are really old (we are old already) and cannot step into a tub. We went directly to Angie?s List and picked the top 3 contractors for tub-to-shower conversions, read all of the comments on them and checked their BBB file. We also spent a good amount of time reading internet reports on the cost to expect for our job. Budget Bath was one of the top contractors we identified on Angie?s List. But with a name like Budget Bath, we were a bit leery. Anyway, we received quotes from two bidders on the work we specified. Then David House, President of Budget Bath, paid us a visit. David evaluated the space and told us that he really did not want to install an acrylic shower. He explained the long term quality issues with acrylic showers and said that, if we wanted it, he would install a ceramic tile shower to match the black and white ceramic tile in the rest of the bathroom. He drew a simple design for the shower, which included extending one wall a couple of inches and building a 12 inch outside wall to allow the shower to accommodate a black granite seat at one end. We liked the design and asked him to send us a quote on it, which he did the next day. We expected the quote to be higher than the two quotes on an acrylic shower, and it was, but not so much higher as to be uncompetitive with the acrylic quotes. All things considered, we felt that we would be more satisfied with Budget Bath?s proposal, including the design and the price. We were not disappointed. The end product is beautiful and showcases the high quality workmanship of the Budget Bath crew of professionals. The matching tile on the new shower makes the entire bathroom look new. In our bathroom the walls are ice white tile, with black tile around the bottom and black tile trim where the white tile stops about four feet up. They put black tile on the outside of the shower pan, completing the bottom row of tiles in black, and topped it with a black granite shower sill. Inside the new shower the tile goes up about 7 feet. Budget Bath selected the fixtures ? grab bars, shower head and adjustable hand-held. All in all, it is classy. To show you how naturally these people do showers, they only had a concept design and moved ahead with all deliberate speed to implement and render the design with no plans. There was only one glitch that disrupted the completion schedule. When they removed the old tub, they found that there was no sub floor. The tub had been installed on the joists (the house started out 80 years ago as a fishing cottage on the Little Magothy River). Without batting an eye, they built a sub floor to accommodate the shower and moved ahead. Once again, it was a quality job. The work is now finished and we are completely satisfied. The cost was that which was quoted plus the extras we asked for and the surprise subfloor installation. We recommend Budget Bath without reservation. They are proud of their work, which is of a high quality, their price for it is reasonable, and they are honest folks.

Wow ! Thanks [member name removed]...I really appreciate being appreciated. Your review just about says it all. We really do care about our clients and the results of our renovations. I am willing to speak the truth about a clients ideas even if it means possibly losing a job. Credit the [member name removed] for keeping an open mind and trusting us. An acrylic shower would not have served them well and it certainly would not have blended well with their existing bathroom either. Allowing us to match the original tile instead of trying to retro-fit a store bought acrylic unit, gave us the design freedom to create something special and unique just for them. They were so positive during the whole process and really supported us the entire time. It sure is great to have customers who are able to recognize the unexpected obstacles we overcame. Thanks to the [member name removed] for their kind words and sharing their Budget Bath experience with our Angie's List members. warm regards Mr. House

Overall, I'd not use Budget Bath again. The main issue is service and timeliness, but a little on the quality of work. I chose Budget Bath based upon the high reviews on Angie's List. They were responsive to my inquiry and provided a competitive price. I was pleased with the contract terms and conditions. So, I signed a contract for a bathroom renovation. The work progressed normally during the initial stages. However, as things progressed, a number of target dates were being missed. This was problematic since I was without a shower and toilet for long periods of time. Apparently, a mistake in tile quantity ordering caused the main delay, but also simply forgetting or other reasons caused some as well. The job ended up taking roughly six weeks longer than projected when all was said and done. I'm a VERY patient person, with the Budget Bath owner even remarking on how flexible I was during the process. However, I very much took note of my disappointment. As the work started coming to a close, my frustration increased at the inability of certain final tasks to be performed. With a few remaining simple things to be done, like filing in some small spots of grouting in the shower and providing me with a permanent pipe access panel (which was supposedly built but just needed delivery), I asked for a reduction in the final price and called it even. The overall final quality of work is acceptable but not commendable. The main problem is the tile and grout. The tile I ordered I guess gets grout in its coarse texture. Apparently, with a very tidy application everything is fine. However, with how sloppy I supposed some of it was applied in my bath, everything is not. In a few places, the light gray grout is on the darker gray tile. As well, some of the grout has dark spots while other areas is whiter. I think a general sloppiness with some of the workers might explain the problems.

First I wish to apologize to our client. A lot of what he describes is true. We did struggle with this project, but we had to overcome quite a few obstacles during the renovation that were not anticipated. Our client was very cooperative, understanding and extremely patient as we passed deadline after deadline. Despite the delays, the final product is beautiful. However, the customer's review did not explain some of the variables we encountered like our working conditions which no one had any control over nor the addition of a complicated closet renovation which involved some special order doors, and custom woodwork plus some electrical work and lighting which we also completed with a high level of quality and workmanship. The tile ordering issue was a problem, but I believe that was due to the pattern selected by the customer "after" the tile was ordered. This only added to his perception of our scheduling incompetence. We had to move much more plumbing than we anticipated and we did this at no extra charge to our client. The location of our clients home only increased the complexity of the renovation. It was a condo unit several floors up in a large building. The adjacent commercial building was undergoing a major renovation with streets blocked off and large cranes and heavy equipment every where and there was literally no parking everyday anywhere near the building as a result. Sometimes we had to park several blocks away which diminished our ability to retrieve materials and tools in a timely manner. Once in the building, we had to set up and work in the parking garage. We had to carry materials and tools up and down an elevator all day long. We did our best to adjust but we never gained any momentum. We sincerely wanted to recover and console the client who was very very gracious the entire time. I take complete responsibility for both the awesome bathroom we designed and built but also my failure to make the necessary adjustments required to satisfy our customer. Thank you to this customer for a fair assessment of our performance on this job. I do not know if he ever became aware of our struggle with the logistics of working in his building that severely impacted our normal efficient process. Limits on parking, elevator use and the multiple demands of the maintenance staff contributed to our woes. The building management also had time limits of work and restricted our entry into the building using a buzzer system. One tenant threatened to have our work vans towed. To our Angie's List customers and a potential Budget Bath Inc. clients, I apologize for this review and would have done anything to develop a different outcome. I am as disappointed as my client. Warm Regards David A. House

Dave House and his talented crew transformed our main bathroom with peeling paint, moldy walls and outdated fixtures into a bright, smart, showplace. We selected Budget Bath from three different proposals, because we liked Dave's ideas and willingness to listen and adapt his proposal to what we said we wanted. Because of the mold and desire to replace tub, we had to gut the room and start over, removing a poured concrete floor along with all drywall. To provide more storage for a small room, we had him install custom-built cabinet. And we had the door replaced and hung to open outwards, increasing the available space. We were a little nervous as the mid-March start date neared, because we'd not settled well ahead on wall or floor tile, vanity and sink design or lighting. But Dave assured us there would be plenty of time to choose those without delaying work, and he was right. He referred us to a tile store as the job was being started, and the new material arrived on time. We also picked out lights, and chose from samples he provided for countertop. We insisted on a different bath vent fan than the one he'd ordered, and he switched without complaint. The work took about a month, and for 1 1/2 to 2 weeks we were without toilet on the upper floor. But Dave's crew helped us reconnect a toilet we'd had in the basement, which enabled us to "rough it" through the necessary demo and initial reconstruction. The crew was prompt, answered our questions about what they were doing and cleaned up after itself. Dave was readily accessible by phone or email, and he visited the house during the job to consult with us on paint and color coordination. We regretted our first choice - it looked a lot darker on the wall than we'd expected - and he agreed to repaint a lighter shade without complaint. Finally, a rarity in our experience, Dave didn't wash his hands of us once the final payment was made. Too often, we've found contractors walk away without having fully cleaned up, or fail to make good on those final details they promised to take care of. Maybe a week after the Budget Bath crew had wrapped up, the recessed light installed in the ceiling over the tub went out. Dave had his electrician out to check on it promptly, and he found it was a defective bulb rather than faulty wiring. The fixture has been problem-free with the replacement bulb. We love the new bath, and would definitely hire Budget Bath again!

Thanks Mr. (removed member name) for the " A ". This bathroom was certainly challenging. The angles ceilings presented us with some design challenges. I give credit to our client for being open minded and trusting our design and our staff to modify on the fly during the renovation. Allowingus to re-install the door to swing outward into the hallway was the key element to making the bathroom more functional. The final product is amazing.

We obtained 3 estimates for the work and all fell within a narrow range. What swayed us to go with Budget Bath was the owner's ability to suggest different ideas as to the new bathroom design. We weren't sure how we wanted the new bathroom laid out, and by the time Dave left us, we had 4 alternatives that we had discussed. He was also helpful before and during the project regarding selecting fixtures, tile, mirrors, the vanity, and paint. Everything regarding the the job occurred just how one would hope it would be. We picked a start date 2 months in advance, and the job started on time and finished 2 weeks later as planned. All of the employees had worked for Budget Bath for a number of years and all were very polite and respected both us and our property. The workmanship was great; the tile work and the drywall and paint seem flawless, and we are confident that the parts you don't see were done equally well. Watching their progress each day we were always confident in their abilities and that the work was being done properly. Settling the final bill was straightforward and had no surprises. In short, we are very satisfied with all aspects of the job.
Description of Work: Remodeled our master bathroom; removed a whirlpool bathtub, shower, toilet, and sink and replaced them with a larger shower, new toilet and vanity/sink, including tiled floor and shower wall. The work also included moving a section of wall which gave us extra storage in an adjoining closet.

First let me tell you that David House is very passionate about his company and the abilities and workmanship of his team. This was displayed during our initial and follow-up meetings and one of the main reasons I decided to go with Budget Bath. The project was started in late May but due to items that were on backorder and last minute changes made by me, it was finsihed in July. One of the main reasons that I wanted my bathroom remodeled was to convert the bathtub to a walk-in shower so that my elderly parents would remain independent and feel safe without any hazards to worry about. Dave and his crew accomplished this and for that I am grateful and the reason I am recommending them on Angie?s List. The entire process was not perfect and there were some glitches along the way and even after completion, adjustments were needed but Dave and his crew responded quickly and corrected whatever was necessary. To give you another example of their work ethics, months before construction took place, I had a plumbing issue with slow drainage from the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I mentioned it to Dave to see if he could help and he said he would talk to his plumber to see if he could stop by and take a look at it for me. That weekend, Antonio came by and he discovered what was causing the problem and he fixed both the kitchen and bathroom drains without one complaint. One important note, Antonio?s wife had just given birth to his son a few days before. This is the kind of workers you will get when you hire Budget Bath.
Description of Work: The renovation consisted of completely gutting the bathroom down to the studs with the removal of a bathtub, vanity/sink and toilet. They updated all plumbing and electric; installed new drywall and ceramic tile flooring; installed new exhaust fan, toilet and faucets; built a new ceramic tiled shower which included a built-in shower seat, hand rails, a wall niche and recessed lights; installed a tall frameless shower door, new vanity and sink, medicine cabinet, lighting fixtures, towel accessories and all new paint.

Thanks [member name removed] . An " A " is always appreciated as potential clients are looking for honest and straight forward reviews like this one, so they can make a qualified decision on their own bathroom project. This bathroom renovation was certainly challenging. We installed a custom shower with a stone seat and handheld shower for her elderly Father and Mother. I think dealing with all of the unusual plumbing and electrical issues were among the most difficult to overcome. The final bathroom result was just wonderful. It really meets all of their needs and is stylish as well.

Dave from Budget bath came to the house to quote our bathroom remodel. Dave was punctual and extremely friendly. Once on site he was extremely creative and proposed a whole host of great ideas. Dave created two plans on how to construct the bathroom. From there he provided us a labor + material ROM on site and then provided a detailed estimate (with drawing) with all of the options costed out individually. The entire experience was great. In the end we did not go with Budget Bath due to scheduling concerns. We will definitely look at using Dave in the future.

reknMy wife and I solicited 4 quotes. We chose Budget Bath as the best value as regards price, schedule, perceived quality. We were not disappointed in our selection. All we can say is "Wow" after it's completion. David House, the owner and estimator, first met with us in late August. He was very professional and detailed in his answers to our initial questions. After narrowing down the 4 estimates to just 2, we asked David to return for a 2nd visit to answer further questions on our project which he obligingly did. That visit sold us, as David gave us the best answers and handled our concerns. He doesn't employ subcontractors.... his team works directly for him, he either supervises their work by visit or via cell. But his crew need doesn't need supervision.... they have a strong work ethic working into the evening when necessary and their crafftsmanship is A+. I was blown away by the intricate joinery of the ceramic tilework his worker Eric did. And all the others, Antonio who did the plumbing, and John who did carpentry, and Joey who did sheetrocking, painting, sanding....they were all very professional, courteous, and enthusiastic in how they work and proud of what they do. The reframing and installation of a new bathroom door was, I believe a difficult job which they made look easy. We love what they did and highly recommend to anyone considering having a new or renovated bathroom.

Thank you for the " A " review [member name removed]. Our client had a need for a bathroom renovation in a very small and narrow space. The house was built in in the early 1900's so creating a modern bathroom using the original walls and floor was interesting. The back brick wall was out of level by 4 inches ! Because the bathroom was so narrow we had to use the parting wall that separated the other row house as a main wall in the tub area. Our guys did a great job and the bathroom is beautiful as planned. Warm regards David House

We invited three contractors, all found via Angie's list, to come to our house and meet with us. All three came to the house and met with us. All three submitted proposals. One of these vendors stood out from the very beginning and that was Budget Bath. The owner of that company came personally and spent nearly two hours with us, helping us to plan the bathroom job in quite a bit of detail. When we received the three proposals, the one from Budget Bath was most comprehensive and, while not least expensive, was at least competitive. We contracted with Budget Bath. Our project started in August and a whole team of workmen took on our job. The project was pretty large and it progressed nicely until we learned that the vanity that we selected for the master bath was backordered. Budget Bath finished everything that they could but then there was a 3-week delay until the vanity was delivered. Once delivered, the job was promptly completed. In the grand scheme of things, this delay was no big deal because we are absolutely delighted with the end product. This is a very good company. The owner, Dave House, really cared about us and personally kept watch over the entire job. His crew is great. Very professional. The quality of their work is excellent. They went above and beyond in many ways. For instance, I needed some outdoor lights installed. This was clearly outside of what was contracted and yet they did this for me while here. We would recommend this company without hesitation.

Thank You so much for the " A " review [member name removed]. We completed two bathroom renovations for this client. One was a partial and the master was a complete re-do. We matched the tile in the partial bath renovation and the final job was very nice. The master bath involved a new shower, toilet, vanity, mirrors, floor tile and quality paint job with nice accessories. The entire project went as planned. The only difficulty we faced was getting the new vanity upstairs and into the bathroom itself. Our clients were wonderful to work with and the master bath is really nice. Warm Regards David House

Very well overall. Beautiful job. We now love our bathrooms. David and his crew were friendly, clean and courteous and helped us choose the right tile and type and gave us suggestions regarding colors and design. David has a good eye for how to put a style type together and he helped to guide us in the right direction. The storage area above the toilet is awesome and very practical. The mirror/medicine cabinet is spacious and deep. Our kids love it. Our only challenge was that we needed more regular communication regarding the schedule as we work full time. We have since decided to have Budget Bath renovate our basement bathroom. We are looking forward to another quality job!
Description of Work: Cost is for 2 bathrooms with some custom work done in each. Master Bathroom and Hallway Bathroom renovations including replacements of vanities/sink, medicine cabinet, custom build medicine cabinet from large mirror, storage cabinet above toilet, new light fixtures, sink and shower/bath faucets, GFI outlets, new fans, all new ceramic tile in shower/bath and on floors, shower sill dress kit, recessed lights, tall shower doors, and painting. David worked with us to make sure we had choices and cares a lot about quality and function. He actually brought us choices of vanities to look over and guided us through the pros and cons along the way. He responded to our request through Angie's list promptly and met with us soon thereafter. Within a week the estimate was emailed to us to review and discuss. About a week prior to starting the job, an email was sent to us with the names and photos of the workers we should expect, even the subcontracted electrician.

Overall, it was a very good experience. Dave and his team were very responsive and professional and the bathroom turned out beautifully. They worked relatively quickly and consistently and were flexible and creative as the project evolved. Dave has a wonderful eye and was able to provide expert advice but still work within our personal aesthetic. We have a crazy, old Victorian from the 1800s with many idiosyncrasies. But Dave seemed to enjoy the challenge and his custom wood work both maximized the space and blended perfectly with the style of the house. I also liked the rest of the team and felt comfortable with them in the house. In the end they gave us exactly the bathroom we wanted We had a few little glitches along the way (as you always do in construction/renovation projects) but what really stands out is how quickly they responded and corrected things when necessary -- even on a weekend! Moreover, they stuck to the budget despite several unforeseen circumstances -- just as promised. These days people who do what they say will do are rare. If I could do anything differently, I would be more proactive regarding the choice of light fixtures, towel racks etc.. The price includes everything, which is great, but it also means there is necessarily less choice on the small items. But all you need to do is ask and Dave is happy to accommodate. I would definitely use Budget Bath again. They are honest, creative and seem to love their work. We are renovating the house from top to bottom and have dealt with many contractors, carpenters, repairmen and skilled artisans of all kinds. I would rate Budget Bath among the best for their honesty, creativity and quality.

Mr. House was scheduled to come by the house at 7:00 PM. He showed up at 5:45, without ever calling ahead. This was rude at best, and could have meant that nobody would be home to meet him. He stated that his source of materials was not either Home Depot or Lowe's, which he considered low grade, but he refused to tell where he gets the materials he uses. He wanted to know how much I was ready to spend, and quickly told me that for $7000 to $10,000 he would be unable to use tile on the shower and tub walls; we would have to settle for the acrylic sheets used in hotel rooms. He also tried to get me to spend the whole budget on one bathroom, leaving the other for a few years. He refused to separate his costs into labor and materials, telling me that labor costs would change according to the materials I wanted, and his charges are for the job as a whole; not to be separated out. In addition, I would not be allowed to shop for materials, but could only choose from what he wanted to provide. He did not have a smart phone or camera. He did make a sketch of one bathroom, but couldn't take any pictures. During his 40-minute visit, he took at least four phone calls, asking if he could call back later. Each call was from a different person. I gather he has no secretary to take calls and handle routine business. As he was leaving, I had the distinct impression that he had no interest in working on my bathrooms; that such a job would net him insufficient profit. He even asked if I still wanted him to send me a proposal.Throughout the visit he sounded and behaved more like the stereotypical used car salesman than someone who actually wanted my business. Moreover, his conduct throughout the estimate raises several red flags regarding trustworthiness and honesty; I do not recommend contacting or doing business with this individual.
Description of Work: Provider was asked to provide an estimate for the repair and rehabilitation of two upstairs bathrooms in a 1960's-era Levitt home. Both bathrooms had been subject to neglect and showed signs of water damage, necessitating serious work. It should be noted that other companies had come through and were professional and able to accommodate the stated requirements.

...................................NO WORK WAS COMPLETED FOR THIS INDIVIDUAL.......................................... How can anyone respond to a review like this ? I truly wish to be respectful but these comments completely misrepresent Budget Bath Inc. This client is correct...I did arrive one hour early for this appointment but I believed our appointment was for 6 pm. I offered to leave for dinner and come back so I am not sure what the offense is and that's where this client's credibility ends. I guess I received a "D" for telling it like it is and trying to help him understand the reality of the situation. The two bathrooms I was evaluating were basically in unspeakable condition. I was afraid to sit down or touch anything and the smell was awakening. I have been designing, selling and renovating bathrooms for more than 25 years and I know what I am talking about and these bathrooms needed complete renovations and then some. There are multiple unknowns when a bathroom has been neglected for this long and I decided to be upfront with the client on his expectations of quality and price. When he stated he had 15k total for both bathrooms I simply explained the options. I was kind and respectful as I explained what I felt was in his best interest and he seemed to appreciate my position. He even asked me to provide a written estimate detailing my suggestions and then I went home without incident. Upon arrival to my office today I receive this scathing review and I was really surprised. I do not provide estimates with materials and labor separate as we are a full service complete bathroom renovation company with a FANTASTIC reputation with clients we actually do work for. We care about the products we install that's why we prefer to guide our clients during the material selection process because we know what items are good quality and where to find them. I believe this individual has many more pressing problems than just his bathrooms or maybe he just had a bad day. We only got an estimate from this company. He was on time, VERY nice, had great ideas for our bathroom and was super professional. However, he was also very expensive. Our bathroom is very small, with barely enough room to fit a tub/shower, toilet and sink, and the estimate came in at around $14,000. He was super nice about it and broke everything down according to price, and offered that the final price would most likely be lower than the estimate depending on which options we chose, but it was still a very high estimate.

Thanks [member name removed]. I am sorry we were not able to work together on this project. The estimate was difficult to calculate because the master bath and the hall bath were modified by another contractor into a complex arrangement. My cost was based on trying to move a wall just a few inches to create the space I felt we needed to make two functional bathrooms. I really could not do a good job leaving the walls as they were and if I can't do a good job I am just not motivated. I do appreciate your kind words and regret that I could not do better for you. Thank you so much (Member name removed) . You and your husband were just great to work with and also very patient when the vanity issue arose. Glad we could correct the problem and move on. It takes two to make things go right and your contributions to the tile designs were essential. Thanks for trusting us. I had Budget Baths come in for an estimate - we just bought a house and needed to have 2 full baths remodeled. We decided against using them since we felt that they would just crank through the bathrooms with a pre-set design but at the same cost of other custom designs (from other companies) that took better advantage of the specific configuration of our bathrooms (it is a historic house so the space was not the typical rectangle). The owner would listen to our ideas but then immediately steer the conversation back to his pre-conceived design. If you have a basic bathroom with no custom needs, they probably would do a good job.

I wish to thank [member name removed] for his review. I think this client may have us confused with another company. I did this estimate 4 months ago and the review is just being posted now. It would be an easy mistake to make by anyone. I arrived on time, gathered quite a bit of information from the client and delivered an estimate within the agreed upon time frame. I never heard from this client again despite 2 follow up phone calls. I designed both bathrooms around the parameters the client set forth. Based on our client reviews for the last 8 years, our customers rave about our clever designs and custom built storage solutions as well as our top quality installation crews vs. subcontractors. Our designs are unique and older homes are our specialty. [member name removed] proposal we developed for him, involved moving walls and changing door locations to create more openness and allow for a larger vanity base. We even designed a custom built linen cabinet to be installed over the toilet in the hall bath. There were many other special features presented to this client. His assessment of our workmanship, professionalism and quality of materials without actually experiencing our performance confuses me and is no more than a guess or an assumption and I regard [member name removed] review as non-credible. I always try to deliver a respectful response to reviews by Angie's List members and it is never easy responding to a presumptuous critique. We have been honored by Angie's List in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 with the super service award for a reason....we are really talented and when clients choose to hire us they are always thrilled with the outcome....every time. Thank you for reading my response and considering both viewpoints.

Mr. House was good about listening to what I wanted to have done and was creative in his design proposals. He was somewhat more delayed in providing the estimate and following up than other contractors I had contacted. More importantly, though, his bid was, by far, the highest of the three bids I received for the project. While I believe he might have had the most innovative ideas, the price unfortunately was over my budget.

Thank you for your response [member name removed]. Kitchens are complicated and since we never met for a second consult, I did not have the opportunity to explain the costs associated with my proposal. Based on [member name removed] enthusiasm for my designs, I developed an estimate that included upscale cabinetry and counter tops and also significant lighting designed to reflect the sleek look of the condo and her taste in furniture. I am sure, had we met for a second consult, we may have reached an understanding and could have adjusted the product costs accordingly. Good luck with the project just the same. Overall, the job went well though there were some hiccups along the way. The way the hiccups were handled is the real reason why we would recommend Budget Bath to others. We originally requested quotes from various contractors in November will little expectation that any would be able to complete the job before our newborn was to arrive in late January. Budget Bath (Dave House) was an exception, and based on other Angie's List reviews, we decided to go ahead with them. Start date was the first week of January. They quickly roughed in bathtub frame, moved old plumbing to accommodate a slightly different location, and leveled out the old floor. They also did an excellent job with mortar/thinset work of old stone wall that lines one side of the bathroom. Particularly tricky is that the wall curves and that there is a window recessed over a foot into the stone wall. One hiccup that happened at this point was that the some old plumbing sprung a leak. Budget Bath was quick to address the leak and rectify the situation. Some great tile work for the floor, along the walls, and up a sloped ceiling was completed as well. It was shortly thereafter that we ran into the major hiccup on the job. The ordered vanity arrived with a finish that didn't match the bathroom. Mr. House was quick to recognize the situation, didn't push us to accept it, apologized, and put in an order for another one. This essentially meant that Budget Bath absorbed the cost of the non-matching vanity since. Because of having to re-order a new vanity, the whole job slipped roughly three weeks awaiting the new one. In the meantime, Budget Bath was more than happy to order custom towel and toilet paper hardware plus install custom shower curtain rings in the sloped ceiling. At this point during a three week lull, our newborn arrived, we had both sets of grandparents come for the event and they were able to use the functioning toilet and tub/shower. (Did we mention that the bathroom was for guest use?) After the dust settled with the newborn, the second vanity arrived and Budget Bath finished up the job.
Description of Work: After taking the top floor of our house down to the bare floor and walls, the floor was re-framed to include two bedrooms and the bathroom. Budget Bath was responsible for taking over after the framing and building out the finished bathroom. The new bathroom is a modified layout of the previous bathroom. So, they were responsible for electric, plumbing, tub/shower, drywall, an open linen closet, tile, vanity, paint, door, etc.

Thank you so much [removed member names]. Congratulations on the new baby ! We could not have asked for better clients. They worked with us every step of the way. They really liked our ideas and we simply reproduced what was on paper and it really turned out special. This house was nearly 150 years old and we had to overcome some unique challenges. The outside wall was crooked and we managed to almost straighten it out with about 7 coats of cement and plaster. We also created a neat solution to the sloped ceiling for a curtain rod. Getting materials up and down the 27 inch wide staircase was a bit interesting too. Warm Regards Angie's List clients from...David House....proud owner of Budget Bath Inc. Dave House and his crew have remodeled two of our bathrooms in the past two years and this year the same crew returned to build a new full bathroom in our basement. The entire experience and end product exceeded our expectations. Dave came up with some great ideas for a bathroom design suited for my ailing and aging mother. The job started and ended on time. Dave accommodated a last minute request to add a backsplash and he also provided a nicer vanity than the one in our contract while staying within the original budget. The crew was awesome. They communicated very well, we always knew when they were coming and what disruptions we could expect for the day (i.e. water turned off, loud jackhammers). They were very friendly, knowledgeable and hard working. We were very pleased with how well they cleaned up at the end of each workday. Also, they were all great with our curious dogs. They were very respectful of the imposition on my mother...they actually built the bathroom then broke through the wall into my mother's room at the very end, thus minimizing the dust, mess and noise. The workmanship also exceeded our expectations. They paid close attention to the details. The tile work is beautiful, the walls are smooth, clean and nicely painted. The toilet, shower and sink work great and look beautiful. I have recommended Budget Bath to several neighbors, one of whom had them do a bath remodel they are very happy with. I would highly recommend Dave and his crew to anyone!
Description of Work: Installed a full bathroom in our basement, including breaking through the cement and installing all the pipes. This bathroom was designed for my ailing and aging mother and includes a high toilet, safety bars and a walk in shower with a removable bench seat.

Wow.....it does not get any better than that. We worked for the Stokes' for so long we know where everything is and it felt like we were visiting relatives. The Stokes are so positive and supportive. They provided us with everything we needed. We were excited when we realized we could make the bathroom just a little bit bigger without any cost increase. I found a larger vanity on sale that was perfect for the space. We really enjoy working for the Stokes and it means a lot to the guys when their hard work is appreciated in this way. I was convinced that any work David would have done would have been exceptional craftsmanship, but the price was way more than we are willing to invest in our starter home. The meeting was helpful though, especially because we learned that we needed to do more research before jumping in to our renovation. What we will likely end up doing is buying the materials ourselves, then hiring a contractor to do specific labor intensive or finishing tasks. For a starter home, that's good enough for us. If this were my dream home, I'd be much more willing to give David the reins.
Description of Work: David came out to look at our master bathroom - we were looking for ideas to improve the layout and increase storage within the existing space. David was very friendly and helpful in terms of helping us consider different design ideas and options. He created a sketch on-the-spot to help us visualize our renovated space. However, his initial ball-park estimate (~35k) was way more than we were anticipating. We are in a starter home in a very modest neighborhood in the city, and while we'd love to improve the space, we are not looking to spend nearly 1/4 of what we spent on our entire house on 1 bathroom. Rather than working with us to discuss various lower budget options, we were encouraged to consider financing.

I appreciate the customer providing a review for Budget Bath Inc. and the kind words. I am always disappointed when we do not earn an "A" for any reason. I showed up on time. I spent nearly 2.5 hours with this client providing various sketches and creative ways to solve their problems. This was just not a bathroom as stated in her comments section. I gave them ideas and pricing for what they told me they wanted. A stone house built in 1889-ish located in a historic district is not a starter home. These homes are very old and very unpredictable. The renovation they said they wanted involved renovating 2/3 of the the second floor, developing smart use of space for a new laundry room, an over sized bathroom, a 12 foot long hallway for access and a walk in master closet. All plumbing and electric would need to be relocated tactfully. They enthusiastically helped with the design while I created the drawings based on what they were telling me. I do not know why this client would think we would charge $35k just for a bathroom......When I was finished with the free in home 2.5 hour consult, they said they expected the cost to be around $ 10,000. I told them the materials alone, for the project we had just designed together, cost that much. I suggested using the $ 10,000 as a partial payment and financing the balance. I have no idea what they paid for their home. I asked them how long they planned to live in the home and they told me indefinitely. So we developed the plan based on long term occupancy. They were very excited when I left.

I made an appointment with Budget Bath for an estimate for our bathroom re-model. The owner David House was very responsive to my email inquiry and we set up an appt. for him to come Wednesday evening (3/20) at 6:30pm. He told me to check out the videos on YouTube, which I did and spent about an hour the evening before looking at their work to get ideas to discuss with him. Both my fiancé and I got off of work early in order to be home for the appt. Wed. evening. We waited and around 6:50pm I called and left a voicemail asking if we were still on for the estimate and if he was having trouble finding our place. I never heard back until about 5:30pm Thursday evening when David called to apologize for missing the appt. the evening before and told me that he had been sick and went to the doctor and had gotten a prescription that had "knocked him out." He said that he was sorry but that there was really nothing he could do and that these things happen. I didn't give them a F rating because he did call to give me an excuse for not showing up but I found his excuse to be just that-an excuse. If he was that sick then he should have called and cancelled, or had someone else cancel, his appointments for the next day or two since he knows what he has on the books for appointments in the near future. Even if he wasn't "knocked out" for 48 hours straight I wouldn't have wanted someone that sick coming to see me and I find that to be irresponsible. Seeing all of the positive ratings for them I was surprised and disappointed to have this experience and to have taken off of work and been inconvenienced for nothing. I personally will not recommend them to any of our friends.
Description of Work: None-we never even got an estimate.

wow....I can't say much more than that. She basically is calling me a liar. I could hardly talk when I called her on Thursday to apologize for not making the scheduled appointment. To set the record straight....I have not been ill since last January of 2012 which is pretty good considering my Wife and I have 5 children. They bring every germ and virus you can imagine into our home every day from school and daycare. If you do not have kids then you likely will not understand. I regret having to explain myself to an individual I have never met. But Here goes.......My Wife began to fill a little "off" on Friday and by Sunday she was in bed all day. There is some kind of cold thing going around and it resembles the flu but its not. I began feeling strange on Tuesday but kept working anyway. By Tuesday night I felt awful. My wife insisted I go to Patient First which we did....she had to drive me. They wrote a prescription involving pills and a liquid to be taken simultaneously. When I awoke Wednesday morning I was definitely not going to work. I continued with the medication and slept all day. I knew I had appointments but they were in my calendar book in my truck. My wife was at work and I just could not get motivated to go outside and find it. Plus I was a little disoriented......at least the drugs were working. By Thursday I was able to do a half day. When I checked my phone calls I returned [Member's name removed] call and offered a sincere apology. I explained my situation and she seemed irritated with the truth. What else could I do....send her a copy of my prescriptions ? Everyone reacts differently to specific illnesses and unfortunately this bug devastated me. Probably because I was fatigued from working so many hours. What human being has the skill to read minds and judge the truth with 100 % accuracy like this ? Then to write an accusatory review on the matter as if their assumption is fact ? Who does that ? Who thinks it is ok to do that ? If you take my reviews seriously, you can only conclude that I am a man of integrity and deliver what I promise over and over. Success is not an accident and we are really good at what we do. Thank you for reading this response in its entirety and I hope you recognize the ill-mannered behavior of this non-customer and the unjust reporting of her "speculation. " I could write volumes more on the subject but I think you get the point. Wow.....

I live in a row house with my husband and two small children, and Budget Bath did a great job leaving the house in broom-clean condition every day and mimizing the impact of their work to our family. All of the materials they used were high quality, and their workmanship was excellent. The owner even returned after the project was done to fix the shower handle, which had tightened up and was squeaking. Their employees are all W-2'ed and very professional. We were really happy with the job they did - no cutting corners.

Thank you [member name removed]. Much credit goes to our clients who participated in the project's design and development. They were so patient through out the job and very kind to us from start to finish. We had some challenges such as parking, three flights of narrow steps and virtually no staging area. Clients do not get any better than this. We really enjoyed working with the Duncan's and their beautiful family. Their positive attitude really motivated us and helped to make this job successful.
