The person came at the scheduled time, completed the work satisfactoraly and cleaned up properly.

They approached the job meticulously; they were professional and explained the steps in the repair process as they were performing the work; they also gave us recommendations for repair jobs on other areas of the house where we requested their input; they also cleaned up extremely well. It was the material in which they used in the beginning, so that the drywall repair was not seamless, which comprised the final results in the end.

Charles the owner was rude, unbending, nasty, and never apologized for coming into house and staining carpet with mud.

Everything was done in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. He was also very courteous and knowledgeable. In areas I had questions and needed help, I trusted his instincts and advice. I would use this service again without hesitation, and I would strongly recommend this company to others.

Hired first as a special through Angie's List for 3 hours of handyman work. Wanted a handicap ramp painted but the weather didn't cooperate, so I had many little tasks taken care of, door sweep, sliding door glide, etc. Then, after getting several estimates, I hired Des-Met Construction to do a lot of work in the basement before carpeting was installed by a company they recommended. Des-Met repaired drywall in several areas, removed paneling on one long wall and replaced with green board, replaced baseboard where needed, patched holes in ceiling, painted ceiling in family room, painted walls in family room, stairs, hall, bedroom, and bath/laundry. They replaced all electrical switch plates and replaced the dryer vent. After the carpeting was installed, Charles adjusted the height of some double fold doors. Upstairs, Charles made a new vanity top and backspash for the master bedroom bath and replaced the sink. Charles always showed up when he promised, other than a delay from one ice storm which I completely expected. I will hire them again for future work, including the painting of that handicap ramp.

Needed pretty extensive remedial work which was not known at the time of estimate. Not the fastest job around but came when they said they would, explained each change that needed to be made and cleaned up thoroughly after they were done. Very professional and accommodating. Removed old tile from floor and walls, and replaced with new tile. Finished job looks great.

I had to reschedule the date of repairs a number of time and they were very flexible and accommodating. Very professional in discussing the type of job prior arriving and assessing the amount of work required when here. All agreements made on the amount of labor and actions to take prior to commencing work. The price was fair value for the work and workmanship was good. I would consider them for additional work in the future as I like the quality of their work and trust their business approach.

Des-Met sent someone who appeared to be hired to handle the special offers. So I can't really review the comapny since the company was not really the one who performed the services. If you use this company or any other special offer company, I would suggest that you make sure the owners are doing the work themselves. Handyman came a second day to stain fence.

I had a few jobs we wanted them to do (fix leaking shower door, fixed a vent in the ceiling, install shelves in master bath, patch door frame, hang new curtain rod, and fix another curtain rod.They were very personable and nice to deal with in person and emails. When they came they walked around and looked at everything first. He broke a piece of the curtain rod in my daughters bedroom and did not fix it correctly, and they left a lot of measuring marks on the wall. They did not patch the door frame, the seal they put on the shower door made it worse because it is now sticking out and the water is still dripping. The basement vent in the ceiling has fallen out from the ceiling. I would like a refund or a partial refund.

He was very nice and friendly. Was slow in working.

Overll the service was good.

After exchanging a number of phone calls (Des-Met was anything but prompt in answering), I never heard from the company after my last call. So, I was out the cost of the "deal."

They did very well. Ralph and Russ arrived on time and went right to work. They stayed until they installed all the shelves and fixed the doorways, even though it went past the 1.5 hours (only by a few minutes). They were pleasant and efficient and I would recommend them to others.

We had a slow start (required three trips to my home) due to purchase of incorrect supplies but finally got job completed on Sunday!

They were prompt and figured out a way to fix the stair rail so we did not have to get a new one. They did what I asked them. They were quick and courteous.

As above. This should have been straight forward, but wound up being a huge mess. The initial door installation was the issue and to fix the problems created by that took two people an entire day and Charlie had to come back the next to finish. It is done correctly now-fixing it now saved much bigger problems down the road.

They did a great job with dry wall repair. The experience was good. They were very reliable, and I would recommend them.

They were on time. They were neat and did a good job cleaning up after themselves.

I told him I wanted a weather strip on the door and he did not bring it with him. He used up the 2 hours to go to the store and it did not even end up hold up. I don't feel like I got anything out of it.

FAILURE!!!! I purchased a big deal through Angie's a year ago. Mr. Charles Straining responded to my call in a reasonable amount of time to find out what I needed. He visited in a reasonable amount of time, as I listed two key needs (kitchen floor replacement and bathroom floor tiling,) plus four other smaller jobs that I would consider if he'd like to quote. Of course he quoted them all, some reasonable, some outlandish pricing for what was needed. I decided to have him work on some of the more minor priorities, and called him to book. And I called him to book. . . and I emailed him to book. . . and I called him to book. . . and well, it was over a dozen email requests and half a dozen unanswered phone requests. I have the email and phone logs to prove it, Mr. Straining. I suppose he didn't see my job as lucrative enough, so perhaps decided not to reply to me. Well, for any other contractor, I would've moved on, but yet he had my money already from the big deal purchase. So I then stopped asking him to come out to do the work, but instead called him for a refund. Yet again, no response to any of many calls and emails, until one day he decided to answer. This took nearly a year! While Mr. Straining has never offered an explanation for declining to honor the contract, despite being asked. He did (less than graciously) refund a portion of the big deal price I paid. I am still out 20% of the purchase price due to his refusal to either do the work or send complete remuneration. I did not grade his ability to perform the work, as I'll never know, but he gets an "F" overall for all the problems that he has caused me. Hopefully there are not too many others in the same situation, but I suspect so. I welcome Mr. Straining's rebuttal, but if it doesn't have a check for the balance attached, it will fall on deaf ears. I'll see if a check arrives within a week after posting this (don't hold your breath,) and then will proceed with legal action in small claims court, merely out of principle for the paltry amount. Unless Angieslist wants to step in to put him in the penalty box. Thank you, and may you all pursue your life's work with the best intentions and best efforts.

Tiled bathroom floor. Hope to have him back for other small jobs when budget allows. He also did some small painting and other fix-its. He was here several days.
