Sheldon & Sons Inc

I signed the contract in mid-May with a deposit. I started pursuing them to come out and do the work in July. They finally came in late August and started the work. The estimator did not assess the job correctly so we had issues with the price that had been quoted. The positive was that the painter who arrived was a professional and did a good job prepping and painting (he did, however, manage to kill a section of the grass which I had to dig up and seed this fall).

From the first converation with the very friendly and knowledgeable receptionist and Scott Sheldon's initial visit to discuss the project, and continuing throughout the course of the work, the total experience with Sheldon and Sons was most agreeable and cordial. The work crew arrived at the scheduled time and performed work diligently and in an extremely capable and professional manner. They disposed of all debris and neatly stored their tools, paint cans and drop cloths daily. I am very satisfied with the quality of work they provided and would definately hire them again and recommend them to friends and family. Also, Scott Sheldon dealt with my insurance company on many occasions which took the burden off of me. Also, during their work one of their painters found a diamond ring I had lost five years ago and immediately gave me the ring. This I will be forever grateful. I believe that this reflects positively on the integrity of Sheldon and Son's employees. A less honorrable employee would have not returned the ring and I would have never known.

They broke the contract. There should have been 2 people painting and it should have taken 1 day. It took 6 days with 7 different workers. There was dry wall dust everywhere, and I had to go to the hospital and have a cleaning crew come in to clean. The cleaning people even became sick. The painters never covered anything in my home. The last day Mr. Sheldon made a tent in the area they were working, but this wasn't until the last day. I have tried to get them to cover my hospital bill. It has taken almost a year with the insurance company, but they do not have the proper coverage, so I had to go through the Department of Labor, who cannot do anything either. Sheldon and Sons will not do not anything to help and have been than less cooperative, so now I have to file a lawsuit.

This contractor deserves an A ++. This was a week long project done on schedule without a single flub. The crew was polite and courteous and quite skilled. Careful inspection of the job revealed not a single mistake, drop of spilled paint or any other defect. I had previous estimates which were more expensive. The estimator Scott Sheldon submitted a very detailed estimate and the job was done for exactly the amount of the estimate. I cannot offer higher praise.

The experience was excellent and we plan to use them again.

Although the start date was moved back twice, once they started, the men were prompt, courteous, respectful and trustworthy. They worked from 8 to three every day, alternating their breaks so that work would continue. They obviously were good partners because they both worked side by side all day, completing the various parts of the job together or working on two parts of the job simultaneously.

After talking to me about what I wanted done, the company owner gave me an estimate of $5010, which I thought was somewhat high for such a small, empty space but agreed to it because he was able to do the job right away, while I was on vacation. He later stated that the estimate was for the same color on the walls and ceilings, and when I insisted on white for the ceilings he charged me extra. He agreed to start the job on 6/6/11 to be completed before I returned on 6/11/11. When I returned from vacation on 6/11/11, I learned that the job was not yet done. A few days later, when the job was completed,I met with the owner for a walk-through. The ceiling and painting job was fine, but all the counters and the floor were white with plaster dust. The ceiling fixtures were not removed. The bath tub was filled with junk including coffee cups and other items used by the workers. The touch-up paint was not left as promised (the paint was eventually provided upon my request). Even though I was not thrilled, I OK'd the job as I was anxious to move into the new condo. After cleaning up the mess and moving in, I found that THE WINDOW AC/heat UNIT WAS COMPLETELY CLOGGED WITH PLASTER DUST. The workers apparently did not cover the unit while removing the popcorn ceiling. Even after I cleaned the filter several times, the unit blows out plaster dust constantly and I have had a sore throat since then. I now realize I will have to replace the unit ASAP or jeopardize my health. To sum up, my condo was left a mess after the job; I was charged extra for white paint on the ceiling even though I had requested the color before the estimate was provided; the ceiling lights were not removed and discarded as I had requested; and WORST OF ALL the workers did not properly handle the plaster dust involved in removing the popcorn ceiling--it was all over the place and severely clogged the window AC/heating unit which became a health hazard.

Guys were on time and willing to get the job done in the alloted time. they did not remove light switch or wall sockets covers before painting, they missed some places and missed some holes they should have repaired, Lines could have been neater. Overall paint job was passable not the best but OK

All phases and workers started on time with punctual and courteous staff. There were some weather delays and Sheldon staff worked around this problem efficiently. Lamont, the foreman, was a stickler for detail and had an excellent way of communicating progress and issues. A few issues came up and he always had proposed solutions and options. He coordinated all phases of the work. All of the painters and carpenter (and power-wash group) were friendly and professional and kept us informed of what they were doing. All the work done was of the highest quality and we are very pleased with the outcome.

The final products of both jobs were amazing. We highly recommend this company, and we will be sure to use them again in the future. We had an in home estimate done, and then not too long after a worker came right out to the house and did the job in a timely manner. The service was great, effective, and well done. We give our highest thanks to the company, heldon and Sons Inc., and their services.

I greatly enjoy working with Scott & Jim at Sheldon & Sons and with Nancy at the office. They arrived on time and on schedule for this work and always notified me if they were going to be delayed in the morning, e.g., picking up paint, snowstorm. They were careful in preparing all room surfaces to ensure a quality painting job and had experience using oil-based paint, which is more suitable for older houses such as ours. They were meticulous in laying drop-cloths and using plastic to minimize dirt and dust and cleaned up carefully at the end of each workday. They also were versatile in the range of activities they were able to perform, so that I was able to ask them to assist with ceiling repair, wood trim restoration, and window repair, all of which improved the overall appearance of the house. I found Sheldon & Sons to be extremely responsive and service-oriented. They are an outstanding resource for owners of older houses such as us.

This is the third project we have done with Scott & Jim at Sheldon & Sons. They are professional, communicate well with customers, and are extremely experienced in painting, particularly older homes such as ours. During this and every project, they regularly consulted with us to ensure that we were satisfied as the project was proceeding. They did outstanding work in painting our rooms, particularly in working with oil-based paint, which produces an outstanding appearance but can be more difficult to use. They were great to work with, keeping to their schedule and even coming in on a Saturday to ensure that they completed the project on time.

We were extremely pleased with the work performed by Scott and Jim at Sheldon & Sons. We felt their work to be a great value, particularly given their strong attention to detail, their versatility in performing a range of activities (e.g., window repair) needed to complete the painting job, and their professionalism in working with clients. Scott in particular was a great resource who was knowledgeable about potential sources of old fixtures (e.g., windows, window latches) to replace those that were broken in our home. They were diligent working in cold weather and in completing the tedious task of repainting dozens of old wooden shutters. They were timely in completing the project and greatly improved the appearance of our home. They kept to a predictable schedule and involved us regularly in decisions needing client input. They worked diligently and independently all day long. It was truly a pleasure to have them working on our home.

They were terrific from start to finish. The returned our call for an estimate immediately and came right out with an estimate. The 2 days they worked at our house, they were prompt, EXTREMELY neat, and very accommodating with our schedules. We found their work impeccable. Overall an excellent experience. We will definitely call them again.

Sheldon and Sons came out to give us an estimate of the a deck repainting and a complete garage exterior painting. The garage was done without a flaw and almost a year later the paint job is holding up great. I wish I could say the same about the deck repaint that they had performed. After the initial consultation we had chosen out color scheme and work was scheduled very soon afterwards. For some reason, the deck paint won't stay put and had kept on peeling off. Sheldon has already come out 3 times since the initial job to redo the deck. On each single occurrence they were extremely polite, professional and understanding of the problem and they never even mentioned additional fees or such. Overall I would greatly recommend their work and professionalism.

They were on time, very courteous, and best of all, very clean. No dust!! I will definitely use them again.

Painter showed up on time. Work done in one day as estimated. New chair rail blends in with the old chair rail. Drywall repair can not been seen on the wall - like the failing paint was never there. Wall below the chair rail had a red faux finish - new paint color covers completely - no signs of the red paint. A very good job - have sheduled painter to do hallway bathroom.

No much to tell. I have been working with Sheldon and Sons for over 4 years. I first met them after and insurance contractor totally messed up a water damage claim. They worked hard to correct the error and won my business for a lifetime. Sheldon and Sons continued to work with me through a major renovation and beyond to another towmhome that needed some help getting on the market. Now I am in a brand new home and can't wait to start working with them again....the new house has some pretty high ceiling. I am sure the hardest thing will be to choice my colors.

After the initial consultation with estimate, we coordinated a time for them to begin. They were prompt, completed the required job in an efficient manner and time frame. They completed their job within the pre-arranged time and left our rooms without a mess.

Sheldon and Sons gave a fantastic estimate for repainting and retaping our hallway ($680), about half as much as anyone else we talked to. I was also impressed by the polite and friendly owner, who did the estimate. We set up an appointment and the painter was supposed to arrive between 7-8am. I called at 9:00 and was told he would be there within 20 minutes. I called at 10:00 and was told he would be there within 10 minutes. At this point I needed to get some work done and had to leave the house (I had warned them of this) and postponed the appointment. A few days later the painter showed up, right on time. However, when he looked at the wall, he said that simply retaping the hallway would not fix the problem, since there was a missing chunk of wall in the corner where the plaster and drywall walls met. He was absolutely sure that the tape would simply peel off again unless he filled in the gap with plaster. He was convincing and we paid the additional $400 to have him do that. My biggest problem here is that the OWNER of the company did the original estimate and seemed perfectly fine with simply retaping the wall. I believe the workman gave us sound advice, I'm just confused why the owner didn't see the same issue. We ended up spending quite a bit more than we intended (and had to decide within a few minutes, since the workman was standing there). However, I was quite grateful that the workman had done his job well, rather than just retaping and walking away from the problem.

They are really good. We will definitely use them again. They are very reasonably priced and do excellent work.

Had two painters Scott and James, they were professional, accurate and took proud in their work. They showed up on time, and if they were running late, they let me know on a timely basis. They were respectful and courteous....always removed the trash and covered furniture etc. Happy to have them in our home. Would definitely use them again!!!!

They do very good work. It took about seven days to do the work. There were two gentleman and one day they brought in a third. The two gentlemen were very good painters. I would hire then again in a heartbeat. I was very pleased with their work.

My wife picked them. Their work was fine and we had no problems. They were professional and courteous. They worked until the job was done. They worked until 7 that night and came back in at 7 in the morning to finish. Their pricing was good.

Went great. The men were hard-working skilled professionals who did an excellent job.
