The Tree People

I cannot praise this company enough. Ron Dorr came out to do the estimate. We had a limited budget so had the 8 trees estimated separately by 2 other companies. (the total for removal of these same trees w stump grinding was significantly higher, so I had resigned myself to maybe only getting 1 or 2 trees removed at a time) We do not use credit or financing, so we basically were getting a plan of action so we could save and only get the trees taken down as we saved the amount of money needed for 1 or 2 trees at a time. Well, Ron asked our budget and I was sure there was no way they could remove the trees within our budget of $2,000, but they made it work. Estimated the stump grinding separately and stayed within our budget. I was so happy and thankful, they don't know it but I was tearing up. You see we live by Christian financial concepts, paying off debts and not incurring new ones and they respected that! Well, they came the next week at 9 am and worked all day! Did a fabulous job on these gigantic trees, some right against fence and some between 2 fences and amazingly, no damage, wonderful cleanup and stump cut very low. Workers were friendly and highly skilled. I highly recommend this company and I will be using them in the future, including getting the stumps removed in a couple of months.

They came as planned and did all the work as promised. Very professional, worked very hard and only took short breaks to get a quick drink of water. These men never slowed down and delivered everything as promised.

Ron Dorr came out the same day I requested an estimate. He told me the best deal would be the "3 men for 8 hours" special. I had my doubts that the job could be done that quickly, but Ron assured me that it could. My doubts increased when the crew didn't show up until after 9:00, but they got right to work and completed the first section before lunch, and finished the rest right on time. Louis and his crew did a great job, and Ron even sent an extra guy to make sure everything got done. Ron was unable to come by that day, but called later to ensure I was satisfied with the work. This is the second time I have used the Tree People for yard clearing work, and plan to use them in the future.

The Tree People is a quality company. I have used them for past tree work and once again they did an outstanding job. Mike came out promptly and gave me an estimate of what the work would cost. The crew showed on the morning that the work was scheduled and did an outstanding job getting the trees down. Completion of the job was delayed because of a problem with the stump grinder. Jill at The Tree People office kept me informed as to when the work would be completed once they had the stump grinder part. Once the grinder was repaired the work was promptly completed. The trees were taken down on Monday and the stumps were ground on that Thursday. As always, great job!

They delivered the day we requested on short notice and dumped the firewood in exactly the right spot to avoid damaging any bushes or trees. The firewood looks dry and in nice sizes. Mike and his crew were very helpful and willing to work with us.

The crew, lead by Luis, showed up as scheduled and talked with us about the work agreed upon. Luis was very professional and courteous and the crew started work immediately. The tree was massive, but the crew made it look like a cake walk. They cleaned all debris and wood as they worked and took care in not damaging any of our other trees and buildings/fence in the area of work. While they finished cutting down the large tree, they trimmed the other tree carefully and ground out the stumps we had identified in the yard. They cleaned up as they went, and filled in the large hole left by the huge stump as well. They are currently still working on grinding out the dead tree stump and the remainder of the crew has moved on to other jobs. They were professional, know their trade, left our yard the way they found it, and completed the job much faster than we ever expected. I've already called Jill at the office to sing our praises and pay the invoice. We will definitely hire them again should we have future tree work and recommend them to our friends. Thanks so much!!

Dropped 50+ dead, dying or dangerous trees in our partially wooded two acres in two days. I had them cut them where they fell into approximately 18" lengths and had them leave for me to clean up. I wanted to keep the firewood supply and it save us money when negotiating the price. It worked out to about $100 per tree. They also tagged and trimmed many other trees that needed a touch up that we didn't notice. Crew was timely, professional and courteous. Thanks Ron and the Tree

Although, I did not get an approximate time of arrival till late in the day , when they did arrive they were very efficient. They were very professional, kept me informed as to their plan, inquired if I was satisfied before they left and did a fantastic job of cleaning up afterward. I have had work done on this tree several years ago by another local company and they did not compare to The Tree People in any way. Very happy with the work that was done and the price was excellent.

The crew arrived on time. They removed a large tree that had fallen on a shed, cut down the rest of the tree (the trunk had split), and trimmed several branches from other tall trees that hung over my house. The work was done in one day and clean up was excellent.

It went very well the guys really know what they are doing.I was a little disappointed that my front yard got a little messed up but that really was unavoidable.I guess with all of the rain and the heavy truck and chipper it couldn't be helped.As I said before the guys really know what they are doing bringing those tall trees down without damaging anything. I would definitely use them again.

We contacted The Tree People on January 16, 2015 to examine and quote on removal of a large diseased tree in our front yard. After keeping watch on this tree for about five years, it was apparent by this winter that the tree posed a risk of falling in severe weather. While the tree leaned away from our house, it could damage the surrounding healthy trees and landscaping if it fell. Ron Dorr from The Tree People came out the same day that we called to examine the tree and look over the job. He emailed a detailed written quote the next day. The quote included a 25% winter season discount which Ron stated was to encourage jobs at this time of year. The quote compared favorably with others received so I emailed Ron to proceed contingent on him providing proof of insurance. We received their insurance certificate two days latter via email directly from the insurance company. The Tree People's supervisor and crew of about eight men arrived as scheduled on the agreed date 23 Jan. The crew was equipped with hard hats, safety belts and lines and proceeded to work. They matted the access to the tree with plywood to protect our front lawn. They removed limbs first and then brought down the trunk in 3 - 4 ft sections so as to protect surrounding landscaping. The crew ground out the stump and cleaned up all of the debris. The whole job took about 8 hours.

Provider was responsive and provided a written estimate. Price was in the middle of the three quotes I received. The crew arrived over an hour later than expected; this type of work is difficult to schedule, but a quick call to notify me they'd be late would have raised my overall rating. Once they arrived they immediately set to work without checking in, but they were perfectly courteous when I made my way back to talk to them. The work was conducted with care, and there was no damage to the nearby fence or lines. The stump was cut to approximately ground level - it was not ground out entirely, but given that I didn't request that and given the tree's location in an already-densely-wooded strip, this is entirely reasonable. Cleanup was excellent - I believe the crew left my carport cleaner than it was when they arrived. Overall it seemed to be good quality work at a good price.

My trees were in great need of care after having been neglected for quite a while. The team was late getting to our house but they performed excellent work. They left the area relatively clean considering they cut branches out of every single tree. We also had a dead tree removed and two stumps ground. The only concern I have is that I called after the service to ask why they had not applied any protective coating to the larger branches that had been cut off. They returned the call and my sister answered the phone while babysitting my kids. They tried to explain to my sister why the product had been applied to the tree and she told them that they would have to call back and speak with me. I called back that afternoon and explained in a voice mail that the issue was not that they had used the coating, the issue was that they had not used it. I tried calling twice more to speak with someone and my calls were not returned. Hopefully my trees are not harmed from insects or disease considering there are so many open wounds.

The Tree People operate as a well-oiled machine. From the initial contact through completion of the job, they were responsive and professional. They quickly responded to my request for an estimate, got me onto their schedule, arrived when they said they would and when they left, other than the trees being removed, the cleanup was so good you would not know that anyone had been there. The four man crew who did the work arrived at nine and were completely finished by 4:30. These guys worked really hard all day and barely took a break to eat their lunch. I will definitely use them again for any future tree work that I need performed.

They did not cancel when it was raining and they worked all day long in the rain. I think I never had them come out to do a little bit more than they did. Compared to the midwest, it's crazily expensive. For us, we thought it was way too much money, but that was around the best price we could have gotten.

The crew came on time, cut the tree, removed the stump, put the soil and the seeds. The work took a day and a half. The area was well cleaned up.

The trees on my property are very tall. The workmen arrived on time at 9 am and were there until nearly 2 pm. The work required someone to scale the trees and literally go out on limbs to prune deadwood. This is a new purchase for me and the trees had not been maintained for years. It was a big job. The three workmen were highly trained, pleasant and worked for 5 hours straight. They cleaned up everything so my yard looked perfect when they left. I would recommend this company highly and will use them again.

The Tree People were very quick to come out and give an estimate and also gave a senior discount for being an Angie"s List member. They responded promptly to get the job done and overall i was very pleased with this company and will use them again if needed. I felt that the price was fair and they had no problems with giving me the senior discount even though I had a small job.

They did a great job. They have done work for me at a few different times. They are very professional. They do what they say they are going to do. They work safely. They do the things you want. They do per se. Their price is reasonable.

Company arrived at the stated time. The crew were very accommodating to performing the trimming I directed that day. Cleanup was pretty good, but they left a little residual scraps near the street.

The Tree People can on time, performed the work agreed to. They departed on time and did the clean up as agreed to.

We had The Tree People come out to remove a very large decayed oak that was rather threatening to our home and our neighbor's home (but the tree was on our property). During wind storms this thing would scare the crap out of us. The kicker is that BGE had actually attached guy wires years ago from the tree to a nearby electrical pole. This was the case when The Tree People came out to take a look at the tree. Overall the job went well, they facilitated communication with BGE, eventually handing it over to us. BGE was dragging their feet and we decided not to wait any longer and have the tree cut down. The Tree People did this and everything went smoothly. They promised us, after we paid in full (which I now wish my husband had not done) that they would return after BGE removed the wires, to take down the rest of the tree. Luckily for The Tree People, BGE actually took down the rest of the tree along with the wires. The owner then promised us since we had paid in full, and they weren't the ones to finish the job, he would come back and do some work for us on our property to make up for it. We've since made call after call, his office manager is perfectly nice, saying he will follow up with us, but he NEVER does. We made an appointment at one point, he never showed up. There are a ton of trees on my property and in my neighborhood. I will never call these people again, nor will I refer them because of this.

Let me start off by saying that in Maryland, it is illegal to operate without a valid license - The Tree People are fraudulently operating their services and blatantly lying to customers. When we asked for The Tree People's license number (taking days to respond to calls), the secretary provided one, 1067- WHICH BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/forests/tree_expert_search.asp Additionally, when we attempted to find their license via Maryland's database , they do not come up as licensed at all. Besides that glaring "DO NOT USE" warning, the long story is that we received an estimate which was fantastic and well within our price range. Upon talking to an associate of The Tree People for an additional quote, he mentioned that I may want to look into the status of insurance for The Tree People. After days of trying to contact someone, we finally received their insurance information, and, although they appear to be insured, they do not carry Worker's Compensation on their employees. The secretary would always have an excuse "maybe it's through someone else" but could never provide the information to us. This is important because if someone gets hurt on your property, they can go after YOU for compensation. Later, we found the license fraud, which is incredible. Don't take my word for it, please call them, get the information, and check the license information via the MD site, search MD law, and look for workers compensation insurance. I am sure you will find the same as we did.
