Roof Works

This home is an older townhouse in Baltimore City that we rent to our cousin. .Mike Widener came to do an estimate. He was professional, knowledgeable and sent a thorough contract and pictures of the work needed to be done to our email address. I sent in the deposit and contract. Our biggest problem with this company was poor communication. The contract stated that work would be started within 16 days of signing the contract. When I didn't hear back from them I left a message and received a return message stating they had received the contract and deposit but that they were delayed with work due to an abundance of rain and they would get back to me the next week to let me know when the work would be done. After another week and a half went by I left two messages and they gave me a date to begin work. They arrived on time and were finished in the two day time line that they said it would take. They responded promptly when an irate neighbor complained of debris on her property and the cleanup at the end of the work was thorough. We waited to hear from them but no one called about the final payment. We had requested that all communication be sent to our home address, phone, and email. We requested pictures of the the completed work by both email and later by phone but never received them. A final bill was sent to our tenant with an additional $200.00 charge for additional wood. No one had ever contacted us regarding the additional charge. It is difficult to rate the work done because we have not been able to climb up on the roof to see it and we received no pictures of it. One person did show pictures of it on his cellphone to our tenant at the time the work was done.

It went great. The tech was courteous & knowledgeable. He gave a detailed estimate after his inspection, instead of making us wait for a follow-up email. Their price was also much lower than their competitor's estimated prices.

The Roofworks rep called ahead of time to let us know he was on the way (well within the 11-1 timeframe), and arrived within 15 minutes of the estimated time. He got to work immediately, climbing up on the roof to look at the structure and possible problems to identify the source of a long-standing leak in an upstairs bathroom and in our first floor kitchen. When he came down, he talked to us for a few minutes, describing the failing condition of five vent stacks, which had base gaskets that wer cracked or rotted. He pointed out each gasket to us from the backyard, and once he described the problems, it was clear that there were structural issues with each one. He briefed us on the cost of the fixes, and the time it would take to repair the pipes. At no point did he suggest a major roof repair or try to upsell us on additional services. In fact, he pointed out that the upper story gutters were clogged with leaves and growing plants, and he offered to clear those out once he repaired the pipes. When asked about the price, he quoted what I thought was an appropriate figure, and also offered a discount as a result of our finding the service through Angie's List. We arrived at a very satisfactory price and he started the job. Within an hour and a half, he was done, and the work looked very good. Having the jammed up gutters cleaned out was a bonus and I'm sure that will help keep ice dams from forming in the winter. When he was finished, he explained that the repair would last well into the time we would be considering a new roof--several years out. All in all, the Roofworks expert was efficient, timely, professional, properly priced, and very easy to work with. I will post a positive recommendation in our neighborhood email chain, and I'd be happy to work with them again.

We accepted the work proposal with the provision, "if problem in the same areas reoccurs within 60 days of repair, Roof Works will return and remedy problem without cost to homeowner." We received an email with a one-page warranty with numerous and convoluted exceptions to standing behind the quality of work. If you choose to use Roof Works, BEWARE. Make sure to get an inspection for the source of the problem, rather than a visual inspection, and get a written warranty, even for a short period. As noted from our experience, Roof Works does not stand by the quality of the work performed.

I would consider using them in the future. I got a quote from them.

I highly recommend Roofworks. Roofworks was able to send out one of their employees, Dave, within an hour of me calling. Dave did a great job of explaining what he could do and the price. He made the repair quickly. We called a number of companies before contacting Roofworks, but we had a hard time finding people willing to come out for this smaller job. I was impressed that it was finished within an hour and half o calling Roofworks.

The reason I gave them a B on responsiveness is prior to paying they provide pictures of the tarp on the roof and well as the replacement of the wood. I felt like and this may not be the case, they were trying to blow me off because I needed pictures of the completed work. I understand that they did not want to send someone back out to LaPlata but I request pictures prior and I am sure they forgot. But I reside in Florida and the tenants did not have a cell phone at the time. So I had to be really insistent about the pictures. But other than that everything went great! I would definitely use them again.

The introduction to the company by Dave was thorough and clear. He answered all of our questions, taking time to make sure we understood everything. The installation went well. We had a problem with a previous contractor because they could not provided the proper framing the house needed. Well we explained that issue to Dave. He reassured us that RoofWorks would be able to meet all of our needs. And they did. A complete re-framing of our roof was completed, along with top of the line insulation and shingles. We would recommend RoofWorks to anyone in need of a roof. I believe they went above and beyond what our contract stated. We are very satisfied. Good job guys!!! Way to go!!!

Dave Burns was extremely professional and efficient. Since I'm unable to actually climb up on the roof to see what actual work was done, he did provide pictures prior to, as to what he would be addressing and what he believes was causing the leak.

It went fine. I wasn't at home to see how it went. I assumed it was fine. I don't know how the quality is yet. They were very slow to schedule the initial evaluation. They were very slow to schedule the repair. As a result, we've had additional water coming in. It did take longer for them to come and do both of these things. It's a lot longer for the whole thing to happen than I would like.

Roof Works was great. Mike came out for the estimate and was very detail oriented/thorough. He was able to answer all my questions and concerns about getting a new roof installation. the job took only two days and the crew was very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend Roof Works to anymore who is looking for great quality and craftsmanship for an affordable/fair price.

On June 8th I sent a message through their website requesting an appointment for an estimate. By June 11th, I still not heard from them so I sent a message through their facebook page. No response. Then I sent a message through Angie's List. NO RESPONSE. Then I called and briefly talked to April. When I explained that I never got a response to any of my forms of communication, she didn't even ask for my name and said that facebook was charging her $1 to respond to my message. That's ridiculous because nobody else has had to pay $1 to respond my facebook messages. Besides, it was free to respond to the message I sent through their website that she claims she never got and it's free to respond to my message through Angie's List which was also ignored. I got tired of listening to her excuses and hung up. It's clear that this business wasn't interested in any potential new customers when they ignored all 3 of my direct contacts with them.

Met with Mike from Roofworks on April 13, 2015 and signed a contract which included my purchasing the $3,450.00 Angie's List deal and an additional $735.00 to cover slate tear off ($260.), joint cap shingles ($225.) and a limited access fee ($250.). Mike arrived on time and was very professional. He explained the process and product and showed samples. Mike measured my roof and informed me that the price would also cover replacing my bay window roof. The work was supposed to begin in approximately 14 days but actually took approximately 6 weeks with one rain reschedule. I checked several times with the Baltimore City Department of Housing and was informed that my roof replacement would require a permit. The Roofworks contract stated "Roofworks to obtain Baltimore City Permit". However, on the first scheduled installation day of May 12, 2015, Roofworks did not have a permit so the work was not performed. Mike informed me that one was not required so they would not get one. I obtained a permit the same day from the Baltimore City Department of Housing for $78.00 and informed Mike. The crew reported on time on the installation date of 5/26/2015. They were very professional and worked approximately 9 hours, with lunch, and cleaned up after they finished. A neighbor who observed the work thought the crew did a good job. The roof was inspected on 6/1/2015 and was given a final okay.

The sales rep, Mike Widenor came out, did an estimate and work plan on the spot per one call to make the appointment. He was very thorough, completely described and recorded all work plan details on the estimate; we accepted the same day. Original plan was for all materials and work to be complete within 12 days. It actually was 25 days. Material delivery was very safety conscious and professional. The work was estimated to be a 4 hour job, actually took 7 hours. Again all 5 workers were very safety aware and careful on our 3 story roof. Cleanup afterwards was very thorough and done as described with all metal and nail debris found and taken away, all materials cleaned and stowed. Very heavy rains within a few days proved the work was well done and we are bone dry inside!

Roof Works did a great job replacing our gutters. Start to finish everyone was very helpful and kind. The job ran smooth and the cleanup was very neat. I would suggest Roof Works for any future service.

Wouldn't guaranty a roof repair; would only guarantee work on full or partial roof replacement.

Recently my neighbors had their roof done and it looked great so I called Roofworks for an estimate for my roof. They came right out and we're super friendly and very knowledgeable. They went over all of my options and made the transition very smooth. They came out on the scheduled date and replaced my entire roof in one day I was very impressed. The guys did a phenomenal job on installation and cleaned up so well you would have never known they were there that day. I highly recommend this company to anyone in need of a new roof. They also do siding and gutters as well. I will definitely be contacting them for my next home project.

From start to finish everything was very smooth and straightforward. I got the feeling immediately that this company is very customer oriented. I would recommend me them to anyone. A new roof can be overwhelming, they made it simple. From the sales person, to the office, to the crew i was well taken care of!

On July 1, 2014 ROOFWORKS provided an inspection of the roof on the home located at 11923 Beltsville Dr. Beltsville, Md. 20705. Mr. Dave Golfein was the Residential Specialist which provided the inspection. He offered two alternatives approaches for a resolve. Approach one was for the replacement of a new roof at the cost of $6,720.00 on the homes (townhouse) roof. But he also said he don?t see a reason to replace the roof. Approach two was to repair two or so loose shingles and to clean out the front gutters and sturdy up the same gutter. I accepted his second approach for resolve at a cost of $500.00. On March 2, 2015 ROOFWORKS was call back to the home for the same reason mentioned above (water from the gutter over flowing only over the gutter section above the porch). Mr. Dave Burn?s inspected and said the roof was in need of replacement and the gutters required cleaning. I provide documentation (invoice/job inspection page outlining the repairs from the previous service call) from the previous service call from ROOFWOOKS, outlining Mr. Dave Golfein inspection, and the work done on the roof and gutters. Mr. Dave Burns then offered this resolve. Cleaning out the gutters again and he would lower the gutter on one side so the water would easy in the direction of the down spout. I then told Mr. Dave Burns the gutters were cleaned out in July 2014, with a rebuttal from Mr. Dave Burns gutters should be cleaned every six months. I agreed to allow ROOFWORKS to make the adjustments and repairs with hesitation for a cost of $250.00. The above mentioned problem persisted with water over flowing over the gutter only above the porch. I requested ROOFWORKS to come and look at the issue again. On March 9, 2015 Mr. Dave Burns return to the property to inspect the work done on March 2, 2015. He found no problems with the work done. He made several suggestions to move forward. 1). Hang a second gutter midway down the front of the home to take some stress of the main gutter, 2). Hang new wider gutters, 3). To return to the home on a rainy day to see more precisely what are the issues. We decided to go with option 3, because rain was due within the next few days. Rain did come, but ROOFWORK did not return. In short, the problem should have been repair on the first service call dated July 1, 2014, for a cost of $500.00. If that had been the situation, there would not have been a service call for March 2, 2015 for $250.00 and March 9, 2015 were he found on problems with the work done. ROOFWOOKS didn?t correct the problem on the first service call,$500.00, then the second service call for a cost of $250.00, March 9, 2015 ROOFWOOKS still didn?t correct the problem, ROOFWOOKS found no problems with the work done. .

Mike came out and performed the estimate. After he climbed down from the roof, he brought in several shingles for us to inspect and talk about. He was very respectful of our home and dog. We had two other companies come out that day and by far Mike and RoofWorks were our hands down choice. Two days before the installation, they came out and dropped off the materials. We were at work during the actual installation. When we got home that evening, the only way to tell that we had a new roof was the roof itself. No materials left behind, no nails on the lawn, no dents on the siding. We are very pleased. It's been almost a year and through the suns of summer and the snows this winter our roof looks like new. I've recommended RoofWorks to everyone and we kept their sign up for 3 weeks. A family member needed work done and they went above and beyond. They do great work.

I first had another company come out to give me an estimate, but the gentleman came, took a quick at my home, and gave me a price, without even getting on my roof. I then called ROOFWORKS who took a lot of time to get on top of my roof, inspect it, and give me a price for what I specifically needed done. They told me the worst possible case and the best possible case. They did the job and were good all the way around. They showed up when they said they would, did a good, quick job, and hauled away all debris. Also, anytime that I called to talk to them they were quick to answer the phone and my questions.
