We were in need of an updated garage door opener. The previous opener was loud, and the pully system seemed to be coming loose. The staff from Garage Door Nova made a recommendation for two types of openers and allowed us to choose which met our needs. (We wanted access on our phones.) On the day of service, the technician arrived promptly and completed service efficiently. Once installed, we were very pleased to have a new system that is almost silent when opening and closing the garage and that offers new, updated features.

Could not have asked for better service. It was a Sunday morning, Garage Door Nova responded immediately. The technician (Steffon) provided an estimate, which I found quite reasonable, and was able to accomplish the job right then and there on a Sunday afternoon. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a substantial discount for being a military retiree. Steffon was very thorough - not only replacing the extension springs, but also recalibrating the extension spring system, including the cables, balancing the doors and providing an 8-point safety check. Steffon was absolutely professional and patient in answering my "20-questions." Garage Door Nova is "Aces" in my book. Thanks!

World class service guys. Man! Not only were the workers respectful and kind, but I admired their attention to detail. They also showed up on time and worked quickly too. I highly recommend this company to anyone!!

Garage Door Nova was very responsive. I called in the morning and they were able to send someone out the same day to fix my broken spring. The work was done quickly and the technician seemed very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company.

I called on a Monday for someone to look at my garage doors. A technician quickly came on Tuesday (they have an $89 estimate fee which is not charged if you buy the doors from them and they do the install). I was told I needed new doors. The price that was quoted was in line with prices I had researched on the internet. The replacement was scheduled for Friday, between 11am and 1pm. I waited and at 2:00pm I called the company and was told the tech was running late. After waiting several more hours, I called and was told they techs were still running late. The two technicians finally arrived at 6:00pm and worked until 11pm. However the doors would not open; they had not measured the doors correctly and needed to get special 'quick turn' adaptors from the warehouse, which of course by that time was closed and was not open on the weekend. The doors also did not seal properly (it is a brick garage) so I was offered their vinyl weatherstripping kit at $249/door. When I balked at the price, the tech offered to install weatherstripping on both doors but only charge me for one. (I later priced the stripping at Home Depot and Lowes; each strip cost $8.95 and there are 3 needed per door. That would have been $54 for the strips for both doors, and almost $450 for a 20 minute installation.) When I called the company on Monday I was told someone would be there before 3:00pm to finish the install. So I waited some more. A different tech finally called at 4:00pm saying he did not have the adaptors or the right color weather stripping and could not come that evening to work. He told me someone would call within the hour to reschedule for the next day (Tuesday). Nobody called. Tuesday morning I called the company and was told the original tech would be back to work on the doors, sometime before 3:00pm. I waited. At 4:00, after calling the company AGAIN, I was told the tech was 'running late.' The tech called at 6:00pm to tell me he was 45 minutes away but would be there that night. The tech arrived at 7:00 and worked until 9:00pm. The doors were fixed so they would open and the weather stripping was installed. However, when the old doors were taken down (Tuesday), they were put out on the curb, and I was told someone would come for them the next day with a special truck. It is now Friday morning and they are still on the curb. I will be calling the company every day until they are picked up. Oh yes, the techs used a table I had stored in the garage to work on. It was an antique and was slightly damaged from their equipment. They also split one of the door frames trying to remove the old door, which they repaired with some screws. In summary, I was told it was a one-day job. It took 5 days (including a weekend when they do not work). I had to take an extra 2 days off from work to wait for them to show up. One of the doors was installed a tad bit crooked (see image), and the tech explained it was because the floor wasn't even. I'm not sure that couldn't have been accommodated. The door frame was broken and repaired, and the old doors have not been taken away as promised. The only good news is that I was given a slight upgrade on the quality of the doors, (but only because they didn't have the model I chose in stock!) and they did not charge me for the cost or installation of the weather stripping. I was totally frustrated at their lack of timeliness. It was a big waste of my time. I would not recommend Lock and Door Solutions for garage door installation or repair.

This company also goes by "Garage Door NOVA" - calling the number for them gave me this company. I generally agree with the other reviewers. I gave them a "D" because they did come out in the middle of the night - the only people that I could find who would do so and the door now seems to work. They gave me the same "$125 and up" for a spring depending on the size. I could not get a firm estimate and was told that it's $99 to have them show up to give an estimate. With my car stuck in the middle of a Sat night I had them come out. The spring was now $225. They said that it's best to replace both at the same time which made sense to me however, instead of simply adding the cost of the other spring they doubled the cost even though the labor is exactly the same for changing one or two springs. Then, they add a "re-calibrate drums and cables" for $189. In talking to several other reputable garage door service companies, they all note that this work is included in the labor fee for changing the springs. It should not be a separate charge. Thus, this is just another scam that this company engages in to over charge their customers. Not being able to get hold of any other company and with my car trapped I tried to decide how much it would cost to rent a car for a couple of days vs paying these guys rip-off fees. I did the latter with the total for two springs on a large door being $594.05. This morning (Sunday) my regular garage guy called me back and said that this was a $250 job which is consistent with what I find online. Even though the door seems to work he is coming to check it. I also told these guys that one of the four screws which connects the door to the motor arm fell off. They said not needed. My regular guys says that it is. I called today and asked for a manager to explain that I felt that the price was obscene and why. She said we can extend the warranty from 5 to 7 years. I have no confidence that they'd ever come back under warranty. I asked why they double the full charge for a second spring when there is NO additional labor required for the second spring. She said "that's how the system is set up" - what bull!! DEFINITELY use anyone else if at all possible. These folks are a TOTAL RIP-OFF!!

I phoned the company on June 4 to make an appointment for a free estimate. The person on the phone advised me that a technician would call me back to make the appointment. No one ever called back that day. I called the next day June 5 and spoke with the same person and she assured me that I would get a phone call from a technician to make my appointment. The technician called but stated he didn?t know why he was calling me and they he doesn?t make appointments that is for the main office to set up. The technician then told me that he would have the main office contact me to set an appointment. No one ever called and it is now been four days later. A company should never go into business if they don?t have good customer service. I would NEVER use a company that is too big to return phone calls. Not sure how they are still in business but if you are looking for a good customer company this is not the one.
