Everything about our experience with the owner, Jim Sarazin, and his entire crew was outstanding. From the very first contact, we were impressed with this company's professionalism, flexibility, attention to detail, responsiveness to our needs, and the quality of their work. Not only was the end product as attractive and well built as we had hoped, but the process of working with them was truly exceptional. Prices were reasonable, questions were answered promptly and in detail, and any small, unanticipated problems that came up were addressed immediately. We are very happy we chose Deck and Shed Pros for these projects. We would definitely hire them again for any home repair work.

The repair quickly got to be much more than was originally planned so the job became more complicated and bigger. Mr. Sarazin had no problem changing the job to match what was needed and at a fair price. The quality of the work was very good and the workmen were professional and efficient. The original decking material is no longer available and what was used worked out very well.

Jim Sarazin of Deck & Shed Pros gave me an estimate within a day of my request. His price was fair, reasonable. I had one lower bidder who cancelled on me. I had two bidders who wanted to charge more than double. Jim and his workers, exactly on schedule, delivered lumber on day one, rebuilt the deck on day two, and hauled the trash away on day three. The work looks outstanding, and Jim is very easy to work with. Best contractor experience I can remember.

My husband and I are more than satisfied with our new deck and with the whole process. Jim is totally responsive and flexible and met all our requests, and any changes we wanted, in a timely and honest fashion. The quality of the work was wonderful. The crew was amazing and did a great job on building the deck, as well as on removing the old deck and cleaning everything up. A few times during the building of the deck I had some questions and wanted to make a few changes. Jim responded immediately and the crew made the changes. I highly recommend this company and wish they did more than just decks so we could use them for another project.

Deck and Shed Pros is the company to HIRE. Price, quality, customer service, no hidden costs are the reasons you want to choose Deck and Shed Pros (DSP). I do my homework and had bids from 4 companies before I chose DSP. They were not the cheapest but that's because the quality offered was significantly better for the price. Now that the deck is installed, it is simply beautiful and clearly the right choice. The owner, Jim Sarazin, met with me in person several times although my project was modest - a 9 x 13 replacement deck. He carefully explained my options and made sure I understood the work involved. He presented choices and explained the costs involved so I could get the deck I wanted within the budget I had. I appreciated his ability to help me make the decisions I really wanted and to decide what other choices weren't important. For example, one set of post caps would be three times the other and the choice did not significantly affect the design. Choosing the less expensive kept me on budget. I have not dealt with many other companies who really take the time to explain options in detail and be concerned about what I want. This is not a company who gives you a "package with a fixed price" and you get only what the package says you can have. Lastly, the workmen were professionals. In my crew their English was limited but the crew chief made sure they knew what to do and his English was perfect. In their countries, they are experienced craftsmen and they showed that with the great job they did. There was one problem with my hose which was punctured accidentally by a nail. It was replaced immediately and with good humor. I honestly cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the final product and the process. I felt very inexperienced with hiring someone to do my deck. Although it was a replacement deck, if you put a brand new one next to it, you would not have known the difference. I congratulate myself now for making a great decision with DSP.

Jim and his team did great work building steps coming from our existing deck. The work was completed quickly and the end result was exactly what we wanted. Jim also helped us complete our project within our budget and in the time frame we needed it completed by. Great work all around.

Jim was very responsive and consulted me on the different options for the type of the fence. In the middle of the permit process (which Jim handled) we got limitations for the fence from the Town of Chevy Chase (very strict standards) so Jim patiently revised the plan. Jim was always very courteous, available and above all, professional. I can highly recommend Deck and Shed Pros for any yard projects.

Very professional. Our main contact, Jerry, was very professional and worked with us to meet some unusual needs. Simon, the carpenter, was very good. He did quality work and worked long hours to get the job done. HE also did a good job of finishing up all the little things. I would hire them again.

Jim Sarazin was contacted about deck stair landings on ground level. He gave us an estimate. Because he had additional work for his team that day in our area, he was able to reduce the cost to us. We had about 15 pieces of trim that needed to be replaced after a few harsh winters and he replaced those at his cost. Very professional and his crew did a great job. Would absolutely hire for additional work.

We recently hired Deck & Shed Pros to build a brand new composite deck onto our new home, and we LOVE IT!!!! It's beautiful and well-constructed. The material, which is a new composite that looks very much like Brazilian Ipe wood decking (but without the maintenance hassles), is absolutely gorgeous, and the vinyl rails look very good with it. The owner, Jim Sarazin, was an absolute pleasure with whom to work and we were very comfortable with him from the onset. He's trust-worthy, professional and straight-forward; he offered excellent advice about how we could save money by sizing the deck to best meet our needs while avoiding unnecessary cuts and seams. The county official inspected our deck and it passed with flying colors; he said he's been dealing with Jim's company for quite some time and he knows the quality of their work. The deck was built in two days and the project went off without a hitch. We are very much looking forward to using our new deck this summer!

Horrible....below standard construction that is resulting in damages to the deck and safety issues. A company that does not stand by its work cannot be trusted.

They did an excellent job on a complex deck repair. Specifically, they replaced all original six foot tall posts which were uniquely fastened to both the existing beam and the concrete piers. They also suggested strengthening the stairway with 2 posts with concrete pier to give it more strength and then rebuilt the rotted bottom pieces. Lastly, they replaced some rotted original planking using same 20' dimension/grade lumber using well sunk screws. All work was done on schedule, at a competitive/quoted price and managed “to the minute”.

The work on this job was done methodically and with extremely high craftsmanship. The workers paid close attention to every detail. Additionally, in the process of reconstructing the deck, it was discovered that the support structure needed to be leveled and reinforced in certain locations, to make the final product perfect. The company used the same level of service to correct unseen problems as they did for the visible sections. The crew cleaned up the job every day before leaving. All of my concerns along the way were immediately addressed, discussed with the best solution determined, and then perfectly executed. It was a pleasure to work with the owner as well as every member of the crew.

I upgraded to acetylated pine treads, risers, and rails for my home's new stairs on the advice of Randy at a premium cost. I was assured that this would age better and last longer than typical pressure treated lumber. Initially I was happy with the project, but after the winter large cracks appeared in both posts and smaller ones along the rail top and continue to get worse. I have been trying to get in touch with Randy or Maryland Deck & Shed (now known as Deck and Shed Pros?) for 2 months to have them respond and hopefully correct the situation. I have called the main number, Randy's mobile number, Jim's mobile number, and Angie's List messaging. Jim did return my first message, but have heard nothing from him in several weeks. According to my contract the work is supposed to be warranted for 1 year and I have to assume materials come with some sort of warranty. I'm left frustrated and without information or remedy for a project that I upgraded to a premium material that has not performed as promised. While initially I was happy with the final product, I unfortunately do not recommend this company since they have not stood behind their work per their contract, and their response to my problem has been virtually non-existent.

I can't begin to say how hard it was to find a contractor who would even call back. Mount Rainier isn't Potomac certainly, but I had the money to pay for the work up front and was unpleasantly surprised at how many people were not interested in the job. Ultimately Maryland Deck and Shed were the only serious bidders. Fortunately they did an excellent job. The cheap aluminum sides and bare-bones glass panes were removed. Much sturdier 4 x 4's propped up the roof, and cement panels were installed for the sides. They protected the wood ceiling and trim that I wanted to keep, and in fact the trim fit better after than before. Really nice windows with screens replaced the glass panes, and a slate floor was put down over the cement base. A new screen door and fan were put in. They painted the interior and exterior, two coats, and it looks very well. The entry is much more solid and air-tight than the previous structure, and tons more attractive.

We had a great experience with Maryland Deck and Shed. The price was right, the product selection was expansive, and the construction was completed efficiently and expertly. We had a bump in the road with scheduling our initial consultation, but everything was worked out nicely and professionally after that. We were happy to have stuck with them rather then let the scheduling issue color our opinion. We would definitely use them again for further services.

From the beginning with the design of the shed through to the job completion, James Sarazin (Jim) of MD Deck and Shed was incredibly helpful and professional. The shed cost more then your everyday pre-built , but the quality of construction and installation is worth it. Very happy with my shed purchase.

The salesman was nice and willing to work with you but after the contract is signed you have to deal with the owner, never to hear from the salesman again. The owner has very bad temperament, specially for a service provider, and is very rude. While the major construction was okay, they lack in paying attention to smaller things. In spite of repeated reminders, they severely damaged the sprinkler system. Very reluctantly, he paid for fixing the damages as I had withheld the money from the final payment. It was all after I had agreed to pay him an additional $1,000 from the initial agreement. It was not a pleasant experience.

All projects were completed on time. The made adjustments to the original plan that improved the results of the patio and deck. That resulted in a small price increase (approximately $150). The extra costs were worthwhile to me, but I would have liked the additional costs itemized when I was making decisions. The extra costs of materials was provided in advance, but not the additional labor costs. That said, the estimator and workers were very good to work with.

Jim called me back promptly and talked me through what repairs needed to be done. He was honest and up front about not wanting to take someones money for such an easy repair.

Our experience with Maryland Deck and Shed was positive from beginning to end. Called them about repairing our deck. Jim, the owner, came to our house the next day and gave us a practical and reasonable proposal for replacing ledger boards, posts and other deck supports. His crew arrived as scheduled and the work was completed within two days. Jim was personally involved throughout the process and always responsive to our questions and concerns. Jim and the workmen he employed were extremely professional and diligent. We are very pleased with the result and would highly recommend them.

The deck roof collapsed and I have reported the contractor to the state. Permits were not pulled and after an engineering report from my insurance company, I found out the materials proposed in the contract were not used, The contractor is not honoring his warranty.

I was in the process of selling my house and thought that I needed to have a new support system built to hold up my roofdeck. I called Jim at Maryland Deck & Shed in a bit of a panic. He came to inspect the situation that same day, and found that the repair was not needed after all. He was honest, supportive, and understanding. His customer service went above and beyond what one would expect, and I am very grateful for his help.

It was a pleasure working with Jim. I had a tight budget and he did everything he could to keep costs down, while providing me with safe, functional and very beautiful decks.
