Upholstery Restoration & Select Fabrics

Based on Angie's List recommendations, we contacted Upholstery Restoration by phone and then took the wooden desk to their place of business. They examined the broken front leg, quoted us a price of $150 and a completion date several weeks later. We agreed to that arrangement and left the desk with them. The repair work was completed by the promised time, and we picked up the desk from their repair shop (which is very near our home). The repair was so expertly done that it could not be detected. They took especial care to match the paint color of the original. We were highly satisfied with their work and plan to have them next to replace the caning on a chair.

I contacted the company after reading reviews on Angie's List. They were very convenient to our home, and as I said above, did a great job for a fair price. The work was performed in their plant in Kensington Maryland.

I called them last week in May and inquired about this job. They were very patient with me on the phone and made sure they understood what I wanted. They gave me a quote over the phone and said I could come over any time. I went that day. 3 of the chairs needed to be completely rebuilt from the board up and this wasn't discussed on the phone. The price didn't change. I was called the next week that the chairs were ready. They are beautiful. I was so impressed that I took in 2 more chairs. They were ready the next day. I should mention that I took in my own fabric but they appeared to have a large selection of beautiful fabrics.

This review is a bit premature as the cushions they are upholstering for us are not back yet. However, it has been a distinct pleasure to work with this mom-and-pop operation; they were courteous, helpful and patient. We saw this in their behavior towards us and other customers, as best we could tell. We saw some evidence of their workmanship in their store (they had some restored furniture for sale) and were truly impressed by how well it was done. Upholstering is a dying art and these people not only provide the service but also make it a good experience. I would certainly go back to them.

My basement was flooded and everything was soaked. As a result, a diningroom set by Scan was damaged. There were six chairs that had to be recovered and we found exactly the right material for ithem. They picked up the chairs and delivered them. I was very pleased with the entire experience.

It was a little slow to get it back, but it looks amazing. We have an heirloom now.

They did great; they did great work. They took little longer than I anticipated. They told me it would take two weeks but it took about four weeks for them to do it. I had to follow up with them to find out the stuff. By the way, the work was pretty thorough. I am not sure whether I am going to use their services again in the future.

They were fabulous. They were great. They came and picked up the furniture and they were able to move heavy furniture for me. They were very accommodating. They showed up on time and did a fabulous job. It is a family owned business.

Dropped the chairs off and was told it would take 2-3 weeks to do the job. Staff was very friendly and provided good advice. The chairs were ready within a week and look like new!! Excellent quality! Would strongly recommend them and use them again!

From consultation about materials, to selecting thickness of cushions and size of pillows they were very professional. We also had had them redo an "L" shaped kitchen dining booth for us 2 1/2 years ago. We have been very satisfied with that piece so we went back. It's a family-owned business and they run it that way. They want you to be satisfied. They have a lot of business so it takes awhile to get a new order done, so that's why the "B" on punctuality.

They did a good job, but I had to call them to find out if it was finished. They didn't call me to tell me the job was done.

It turned out looking beautiful except for a couple of things that happened in delivery--scuffs, etc.. They immediately scheduled someone to come out and deal with those problems. I was happy with it.

I visited the store with photos and measurements of the chairs and a general idea of what I wanted. The staff was more than helpful in finding fabrics which were perfect for the job and within my budget... no snootiness about my not wanting the "top of the line" fabrics. They picked up the chairs and returned them with no real delays and my husband and I are delighted with the results. I expected the work to take longer and was pleasantly surprised by how soon my chairs were returned. Have already recommended them to a neighbor.

This desk has been in my family for about 50 years. We recently had it refinished so I really didnt want to have to pay to have it redone. I emailed the pictures including where the hinges attached.I also asked them to fix some knobs that weren't staying on. After speaking them on the phone they asked me if I could bring the shelf and knobs to them, it would save me money. They were close to my home. When I got there They explained how they were going to repair the shelf and knobs. Explained the amount which was $150.00 including 3 knobs, and would take about 3 weeks. I called about 2 1/2 weeks to check and was told it would be ready in 3 days. It was. Very nice and the knobs stay on. It was very easy to reattach.

They were great. They came the day after I called and gave me an estimate. The final amount was what they said it would be. They did a beautiful job. I have a dining room set that is about 50 years old and the chairs were getting rickety. They took them all apart and re grooved everything. They refinished all the wood on the chairs and table. They re finished the hardware on the side. It is brass. They took it off and polished it to make it look nice again. It looks new. They re-stained everything and put a new finish on it. They reupholstered the chairs. I have gotten a lot of compliments for it. It took them 2 weeks to do the project. They said the project would take 4 weeks to finish. It was a big project; there were 6 chairs. My daughter?s high school graduation came up toward the end of that period. I called them a few days before that and asked them if they could finish it quickly; in time to give a party for her. They said that it would not be possible to do it so quickly. However, when they heard the reason why I wanted it done quickly, they put in an extra spurt of energy, got it done on time for me and delivered it. That was nice. They went above and beyond to finish the project. They were very personable people. I liked them.

I contacted UR on January 4, and he came to the house with another worker on January 5. He repaired the table top using steel wool and a finishing oil in about 30 minutes. The table looks fantastic!

The couch was completed on time for the price estimated. It looks great!

I was very pleased. I had no complaints. They were responsive to me any time I called. They brought the furniture back when they said they would. They were very accommodating. I wanted a good job so the price was fair.

We really had to nudge them to get it back by their promised date. It required frequent check backs with them. The workmanship was excellent. The matching of the fabrics and patterns couldn't be better.

I brought chairs to the store and Dave was very helpful and understood exactly what we were looking for. Left my chairs there and they called me when it was complete. We were very pleased with the work they did and how professional the service was.

It went very well. The chairs are really firm now. My only complaint was the salesman said they would clean them up some, old varnish etc. and they didn't. When I picked them up they told me that would have entailed refinishing. Regardless, I left four more to be done and have another four after that. $75 per chair so it will end up being a big job.

Technician arrived on time. Explained what he could do to repair the sofa. Explained that there would be a small dimple in the fabric. He fixed it in 30 minutes. I am extremely pleased. (I am about 6 feet from the sofa and can't see the dimple in the fabric - it really does look amazing.)
