The Crack Man

Basically we had a whole bunch of different estimates and different people come in and he was just the one we liked from the people who come to provide the service. He did a good job and the service that he performed was very much to our satisfaction. I would definitely recommend them.

February this year the crack man came over fixed long Hair line Crack in the corner of my foundation down in my rec room. His price was very reasonable he was very professional. Would not take any payment until he explained the whole job and He know that I was satisfied. And I'll definitely use his services again if needed I will definitely refer him to friends and family

Everything was great and the owner is actually pretty fun to talk to. After our initial conversation on the phone I sent him some pictures and he worked with me on a plan to fully expose the smaller leak so that we could save his time and my money on the job. He showed up as agreed and performed the full repair in about two hours. Two days later we had another heavy rain and so far I have not seen any evidence of leaking.

During the last big storm, we noticed a crack that was leaking in the basement. After reviewing Angie's list, we decided to call Alek and we are glad we did. He asked that we send him pictures of the crack and when he received them, he gave us his estimate. We agreed on a date and time for the repair. He arrived for the appointment on time and my husband stayed and talked with him while he did the repair. The repair took about 2 hours for preparatory work and the actual repair. My husband was really impressed by his professional manner, knowledge, and expertise. He completed the work and the cost was exactly as estimated. If we (or anyone we know) has this type of problem, he's the first one we'll call! Great job from a great guy!

From start to finish, this was a wonderful experience. I found Alek on Angie's List, and checked out his reviews and website. Since the picture on his website of the kind of cracks he fixes looked just like what I saw on my basement wall, I decided to call him. He was professional at all times, informative, and easy to talk with. It was clear he wanted to the fix the problem and not "upsell" me to a larger and more expensive solution. He was more responsive than the other "wet basement" contractors, and was easy to schedule. He showed up on-time, performed the work to our satisfaction, and explained his extensive warranty and when to call him if we need anything. I will recommend him to others, and will call him in a New York Minute if we have any basement cracks to contend with in the future.

Alek was very responsive to my inquiry about cracks in our exterior foundation walls. He quickly explained that he didn't work with concrete block foundations and provided contact information for a structural engineer who could perform an assessment.

I was fortunate in that I was able to pinpoint where my water problem was and I removed wall board to expose a single vertical crack from floor (almost) to the top of the foundation. Alek was easy to work with, showed up when he said he would and did what needed to be done. I was confident in the repair because he started working just as a heavy rain was coming down and a couple of trickles of water were coming thru as he was injecting the crack. When he finished there were no problems. Again, mine was a pretty straight forward fix. But I spent time chatting with him as he was working, I believe if your situation was beyond what his service entails he would tell you so and probably suggest what needed to be done. I emailed him photos of my wall and we pretty much knew going in what it was going to cost. It comes with a lifetime warranty on the repair. I would use him again without hesitation.

Alek showed up on time He explained how the crack had formed and showed me where it had leaked. The actual cost was revised upward, because an extensive part of the crack had been hidden by the insulation covering the upper part of the wall. It had obviously been a substantial source of leakage and added ten feet to the repair. He estimated the length of time it would take to complete the job and was right on the money. Alek is a Construction Engineer and knows what he's doing! I have been stewing over how to deal with this crack for months, and it's such a relief to have the peace of mind in knowing it's fixed for good!

We have had two very strong rainstorms and there is no leaking at all. I really expected this repair to cost us a fortune and am VERY pleased with Alek's response time, professionalism and his use of new technology to make a quality repair affordable.

He called us back immediately and was able to ask enough questions by phone to know he would be able to help us. He explained in detail the process he used and the times he would be available to do the work. We sent photos by email and he was able to confirm what he would need to do. He was fast to schedule a time to come do the repair. He was prompt and friendly, and very knowledgeable! He talked with my husband while he did the job and assured us the fix would end our leaky basement wall! Since the fix we have had one of the wettest summers on record and the wall has not given us ONE bit of trouble!

I sent a photo of the concrete problem i have for repair. Not only did he respond, he recommended the procedure i was looking for...and, recommended two contractors who do that type of concrete repair work. wow!

Alek replied to my inquiry within 24 hours (it may have been the same day). I e-mailed some pictures where my water line enters the house through the poured concrete basement and the crack above and below the penetration point. The penetration point had been leaking during heavy rains since the earthquake in 2011 and there had been dampness in the crack. He provided a conservative estimate with several options by e-mail and offered me several available dates. He was able to come out the same day that I accepted (Saturday) because of a cancellation. The work ended up costing less than his original estimate and I think the work took about 2 hours. He cleaned up well and, most importantly, the wall has not leaked since, even during a week of heavy rains. He was amiable and professional.

Ultimately, we did not use Alex despite his willingness to do everything possible to help us out. We had to get the work done in a week and could not wait for him to get the extra training he indicated he was willing to go to do the type of remediation we needed. This gentleman was just wonderful in terms of his responsiveness, willing to refer us to another provider, and willingness to get extra training just to do the job. I can't recommend him enough and would be willing to go back to him for anything.

The Crack Man called me right away after I contacted him and explained the process in greater detail than any of the other contractors I had contacted for this job. He asked for some pictures of the crack to better prepare himself for the job. We agreed on a price and time and I hired him for the job. He arrived on time, did the job quickly and professionally and took the time to explain what he was doing, what to expect in the future and how to check for leaks in his work. He also guaranteed the work for the life of the home, so no worries about this crack every again. Should I ever need another foundation crack repair, I would call The Crack Man first.

I initially emailed Alek and sent a few photos of the crack that needed to be repaired. It had been repaired at some point before I bought my house, but had opened up again and every time it rained for any length of time, water would eventually find its way to my basement by way of the crack. After it was determined that it was a poured foundation, he was able to fix the crack and guarantee his work. I was glad that he could make the repair on a Saturday so that I didn't have to take time off of work. He was on time and worked neatly and efficiently. So far, so good - have not had any problems with water in my basement since the repair was made. I would definitely recommend to anyone needing this kind of work done.

Alec was great! Recently I discovered a small hairline crack in my basement wall (the unfinished half), which has started leaking, especially during heavy rains. I started doing research and reading about this kind of crack, potential fixes, and then came to Angie's List to find a vendor. I'm glad I did, because on of the places I was going to call had horrible reviews, and I'm sure I would have been talked into more repairs than I actually needed. I read the other reviews about "The Crack Man" and called on Saturday (Memorial Day weekend), not expecting a call back until Tuesday. He actually called Sunday, and was actually in area headed to another job. We discussed the issue over the phone, and since I had already done quite a bit of research on approximate costs I agreed to his price. When we started trying to schedule, I found out that he was leaving to go on vacation, and wouldn't be able to get back down this way for a few weeks. With all the rain we were having, that made me a little nervous, so I asked (since he was already in the area) if he'd be up for coming over after the appt he was already heading to. He agreed that since it was dry, and with the unpredictable rain, fixing it sooner rather than later was better. When he came in he was very professional, examined the crack, and then explained how he was going to fix it. He assured me it wasn't a structural issue, and that it was a simple fix. All in all it took about 1.5 hours. Thank Goodness he was so flexible, and willing to take on a last minute appointment. 2 days later we had a horrible storm (while I was out, and couldn't even put towels down as a precaution), and it truly put the repair to the test. I went down to the basement after I go home and was thrilled to see a completely dry floor, and no sign that water was leaking elsewhere. I would absolutely recommend him again, and actually took a couple of business cards to give to friends.

Alek's level of professionalism, knowledge and helpfulness was very refreshing. Most contractors would have gotten off the phone with me right away when they realized there was not an opportunity for their getting work. I would defintely recommend Alek and contact him for future work.

Alek provided an estimate over the phone to fix a floor-to-ceiling crack in my basement where some water was seeping in during heavy rainstorms, and especially during tropical storm Sandy. He had to work in a difficult corner area and also remove my previous shoddy repair work. He did an excellent, clean job and the work took about 4 hours or so. He is friendly, personable, professional and I would definitely hire him again for a similar issue and recommend him to others.

My first experience with Alex was over the phone describing the types of cracks in the floor and walls of the basement. He was very patient and explained that the floor cracks were probably not a structural issue and may not require repair. (I really appreciated that as others may have taken advantage of it) He came out and gave me an estimate with counseling on the pros and cons of each type of repair that I could choose from. Once we were able to pick a service date, he completed the work in one evening. The only thing I had wished he had mentioned was to cover any electronics etc, as the concrete dust got everywhere. Other than that, he did a great job and I have not had a drop of water in my basement and no more musty smell in the garage after it rains.
