Omar's General Contracting

Over the past 10 years we’ve had Omar and his amazing crew come and do multiple projects. We had a less expensive contractor do some projects but the attention to detail was always lacking. We learned the hard way that we needed to pay for Omar’s team to if we wanted work to be done right and look amazing. We really like his crew also.

Omar and his crew (Juan Carlos and Daniel) did a fantastic job and we couldn't be happier - planning, estimate, product selection, delivery schedule and quality were all a great experience.

Omar gave me a competitive quote for the work. It took a little time to schedule the work, but once they did it, the team who did it was very professional and efficient. The quality of the work was excellent and they kept the area where they worked very clean. I was very happy with Omar & his team.

I got in touch with Omar contracting and they set up a meeting to come over to discuss the project on May 6. Omar himself came out (on time) and looked over the property and discussed the project and asked if we had architectural drawings for the project. I told him we did not, but that we were just looking for a rough estimate right now to see if what we wanted was within our budget or did we have to tone down the scope of the construction. The construction involved the adding a bedroom and a bathroom over the garage and some modifications to the existing structure. On May 15, not having heard anything, I emailed the company and got this response from Omar (all the responses are copy and pastes), “Yes, I am working on it. “ On May 22nd I wrote saying we were just looking for a rough estimate and got the following response from one of the people working for Omar, “Yes , Mr Shahid We are getting an idea for the estimate price . We will provide the price as soon I see Mr.Omar . Thank you for contacting us!” On June 6th I then again inquired, and asked that if they were not interested in the project to just let me know and I would move on. After all, they are under no obligation to work for me, but at least let me know they would rather not take on the job. I got the following response” “Good Morning ! Mr. Shahid My apologies Mr. Omar had an inconvenience and right now He is out of the country but He will be back on June 11th and when he get back We will work on it .” It is June 19th now that I’m posting this review. I rarely post bad reviews (perhaps I’ve been lucky) and I understand that Omar is under no obligation to do anything for me. But as a professional contractor I can expect him to give me a somewhat timely response for a fairly straight forward project (adding on top of the garage).

Omar was onsite plenty and the teams he brought in were excellent and got the job done quickly.

Mr. Omar came over to give me an estimate. I described the work, he took notes, and made measurements. He didn't gather very specific information, for example on what doors we wanted for the cabinets. He was a little hard to understand but I thought we communicated ok and our interaction was friendly. When he was finished he began to leave without any mention of when he would provide an estimate. I asked and he said in 4 days. The scope of the work was ballpark $20K so it seems like enough of a job to get someone's interest. Apparently not his. I checked back with him the following week - no estimate had been sent - and got a prompt apology from the company and a statement that they would have an estimate for me soon. Guess what? It's been almost a month and there has been no response. I don't know what's up with this company but in 30 years as a homeowner I haven't run into anyone who didn't follow up with an estimate or explanation. A disappointing experience.

Excellent work. The repaired ceiling and walls in two rooms look great and they did a fantastic job painting after. Dust containment was *perfect* and they worked quickly and smoothly.

Omar came by to review my basement, but I never heard from him with the estimate.

Omar's price for repairing our shower drain was substantially lower than other contractors because he proposed fixing it by going up through the ceiling of the floor below. Work was done quickly and professionally.

Omar's General Contracting received the bid when our hot water heater flooded our basement in 2018. From start to finish, the work was done well, and we are extremely happy with the finished basement. The quality workmanship is obvious even in the smallest details. Omar himself offered a range of options with different price points, but never pressured us to add on "extras." Omar's work crews were always helpful and polite, and were flexible enough to take our wishes into consideration where possible. The company obviously values safe work practices and kept the site clean and free of hazards and debris at all times. The subcontracted work was absolutely up to our specifications. We will hire Omar's again, and are happy to recommend this company to anyone.

Omar's responded to our initial inquiry within a day or two by text, and scheduled an appointment to visit very promptly. Omar spent an hour with us reviewing the work at our house. He promised to send an estimate shortly after. We followed up with text reminders and a phone call, but after two weeks had received absolutely no reply whatsoever. This is very poor communication. At the least a short note explaining why he could not, or did not want to, do the work would have been courteous. A text would have taken all of 5-10 seconds. We are disappointed because this business is in our community and we would have liked to support it.

Left 2 messages to arrange an onsite visit for an estimate. Never received call back! Very disappointed! Poor customer service!

Omar was at least 30 minutes late to the initial estimate meeting. When I called the number listed on his website to see where he was, the person who picked up said she never heard of the company. When Omar eventually did show up, he gathered all the information he needed and said he would get an estimate to me in a few days. A week later, still no estimate. I reached out to his company and they apologized and said they would get an estimate out shortly. It's been more than 2 weeks since the initial meeting and still no estimate. I've since decided to go with another company. Very unprofessional!

HOA's requested us to replace the rotten wood in the exterior of the house (window frames, frieze board, 2 upper level rake boards and corner frieze board). Mr. Omar came out personally the next day I talked to him and gave me a good advice on what what to do. I had 3 other quotes (including a friend of mine) but Mr. Omar's gave me the best quote (and to replace the wood with PVC material!) and he came very recommended from Angie's list. He's also kept his promise to clean up each day (because other contractors around the neighborhood left their work stuff laying on the ground). Overall, we're very happy with his work and the professionalism he and his crew displayed. I highly recommend his company and will use his company again in the future.

Mr. Gámez had good suggestions on how to meet our design goals in these spaces. The work was done very professionally and looks fantastic. The work crews were skilled and conscientious and were a pleasure to work with. Workers were on site 6 days a week during the work period and the work was completed in only 5 1/2 weeks. We had none of the usual contractor horror stories, only a very smooth experience. We highly recommend Omar’s for painting and remodeling work of any kind.

Omar came on short notice and fit me into his schedule immediately because we were hosting a party the next weekend. His estimate was half the estimate of that I got from another contractor. The workers were also great.

They did a good job on the repair. When they did the painting, it is a different color. I thought the price was a little high. Quality was excellent. They were efficient. They were on time. They cleaned up everything. He probably should have painted the entire are instead of spot paint. I would have rather he charge me more to take the time to match. I have not notified him to give him a change to fix it. He did the repair quickly. He was very responsive in only two days. They exceeded my expectations when they cleaned up every day. He didn't leave anything.

Omar and his team are fantastic! He is extremely responsive, the work is done on time, no surprises. I loved working with him and will use him again for my next renovation job.

Very well. All phases of the project was carried out expediently and professionally.

I used Omar's General Contracting to remodel my shower. The shower was very dated and on the small side based on how it was built not the available space. OGC stripped the shower down to the studs, the shower framing was reconfigured to take advantage of the additional space, the plumbing was moved over to fit the new layout and a bench was added. OGC was very open to listening and talking with me about what I wanted to do. When I moved the location of the bench to the another side of the shower, they accommodated my change of mind. We discussed how that affected the final shower look and we went on from there. It's perfect! The single shower head was replaced by a shower head, a sliding shower head mounted on a bar and body sprays. The frameless glass just makes it so inviting. The tile and finishing work are beautiful! OGC also hung cabinets, replaced a two piece vanity with a three piece vanity and changed the towel bars etc. to match. This definitely ranks as one of my favorite outcomes in a remodeling project.

Requested estimate and bid for a large renovation project. Had issues with scheduling initially. Then we met at the property to discuss. Blue prints were requested. Coordinated pick-up, and was again delayed in picking up. After, multiple follow-ups by email and phone, still have not heard back from anyone. No one answers the phone, it always goes to voicemail. Providing large prints of architectural plans cost money. They literally wasted both my time and money.

The work was generally satisfactory. The toilet was successfully installed (it is stable and there are no leaks), the installation of the new vanity/sink/faucets were also well done. To install the mirrored medicine cabinet, the workers overcame a significant challenge accommodating a design flaw in the cabinet that emerged during installation (although the cabinet was supposed to be capable of both surface and recessed mounting, it's design wouldn't allow the door to open if it was recessed) -- the contractor devised and implemented a solution on the spot. The contractor also successfully modified the light switch installation so that it was attractive cosmetically by doing some minor carpentry. The contractor also installed the two ceiling lights and provided and replaced a defective wall switch (thereby addressing a problem we had feared would require more specialized electrical work). A couple of minor issues with the final results might have been avoided and the Owner, Omar, was away on family matters and the chief manager (who had done a terrific job on a previous window installation) said he couldn't provide an initial firm fixed estimate, so we agreed they would track their work hours instead. This caused some consternation at the end regarding final price. However, when Omar returned, he offered an adjusted price which we agreed to. The lesson was, for this contractor, to obtain an estimate for work planned (as we had done on a previous job they performed) and no issues would arise. Omar provides quality work at reasonable prices and is very responsive. It was primarily his unavoidable absence at the outset that caused the less than straight A ratings we've provided. We would hire his team again and his lead supervisor is also a skilled and ingenious problem solver for this work as well.

Excellent, Omar and his team were fabulous. They were thoughtful, reliable, attentive and responsible. I can only highly recommend this firm and would work with them any time again.
