Mohammed & I singed the contract to do the attic weatherization in my attic. The work included number of items: removal & disposal of existing insulation; removal of existing insulation on attic metal (not flexible) ductwork, sealing accessible duct connections, and wrap ductwork with new foil backed fiberglass insulation; sealing of top plates; installing attic tent (very helpful); installing non-combustible air tight cover over accessible lights and seal with fire rated foam; building approx. 100 sq. ft. storage platform; install stops (baffles) at the eave areas as needed between the rafter ends; blowing loose fill insulation to achieve a R49; conducting final blower door testing and combustion safety testing; finally submitting paperwork as necessary for eligible rebate from PEPCO. The total bill was approximately $6,500. With a rebate of $2,000 from PEPCO, my payment to Mohammed was approximately $4,500. The approximate sq.ft. of my attic space is 1,500. I was highly pleased with Mohammed's and his crew's work. Mohammed is extremely pleasant guy to work with; he showed up ASAP whenever I called him with a concern and addressed each problem. When my old wooden attic ladder kind of broke down because his crew climbing up & down on it, he inspected it and replaced it with a metal one without any cost to me. He did the work in October of 2016. Now, July 31, 2017, when I am exploring the possibility of replacing my roof, the roofer had some questions on the baffles. So I called Mohammed and he showed up within 20 minutes and cleared the doubts of the roofer. Do I need to say anything more about Mohammed's work? He is an exceptional and excellent service provider.

Great. There was an issue with the drywall that was patched. Mohammed was very responsive and sent out an expert drywall guy to address the issue. I was impressed with that.

Perfect. Professional. Timely. Great communication. Even helped me with the energy saving rebate application from the electric company. Arguably the best home improvement I have had done to date. Home is cooler and AC is not working as hard. Two upstairs rooms are no longer unbearably warm but cool and comfortable along with the rest of the home. This was a Big Deal. Setting up the appointment was easy. Mohammed arrived on time and got to work. My home isn't too big, so the entire process took about 90 minutes. Mohammed showed me where the home was loosing heat/air, how the bedroom recessed lights were a fire hazard, and why the third bedroom was warm in the summer and cool in the winter. We were basically heating and cooling the outside. A few days after the assessment, I received a thorough report of suggested repairs, and if made how much money could be saved over a year. At the time, my electric company was offering a rebate for energy-saving repairs. A crew came in a couple weeks later, and made the necessary updates. The biggest difference was in the cooling of our home. Before the audit, our new AC did not comfortably cool the entire home. After the audit, the entire house is comfortable and the AC does not run all day. HESS sealed cracks in our duct system, provided LED bulbs, redistributed and added attic insulation, and properly housed the bedroom recessed lights. The most interesting find was that our microwave motor was in backwards. This didn't allow for proper venting (microwave is over the stove). After 12 years of the smoke unknowingly blowing back into the kitchen, the motor was correctly turned and, whoala, the smoke now vents to the outside. Would hire again and do recommend HESS.

It was pretty straight forward, pretty simple, and pretty easy to communicate with.

This company was an absolute pleasure to work with. Mohammed came to do the energy audit and was very professional, punctual and we appreciated the good manners that he displayed. He made several recommendations on what we could do to improve the efficiency of the home, and helped us identify where we would get the most bang for our buck. Even the team that came out to do the insulation was polite, careful to cover the areas where they worked, and carefully cleaned up after themselves. We've had several companies come to the house and wish all were as thorough and conscientious as these folks were. My experience with HESS and Mohammed was excellent and I recommend him highly. He did exactly what he said he would do. First, he came to my house and performed an extensive audit and made recommendations as he walked around. Then he performed a blower test and showed me where all the major leaks were in my house. He followed that up quickly with a written report, including color pictures of the leaky spots. The report included recommendations for further insulation, but also pointed out options that were not cost-effective. There was NO hard sell about the additional insulation services and in fact he encouraged me to look at other options that he thought might have been lower cost. I preferred to use his services and he provided a detailed written estimate which I thought was very reasonable. The work was scheduled in about 30 days time at my convenience. Mohammed answered all of my questions thoroughly and promptly. The subcontractor he used (Southland Insulators) were also top-notch. They were prompt, pleasant, neat, and hard-working. They performed the work exactly as described and for exactly the price quoted. I wish all service people were as good as this!

Mo and his team were on-time, efficient, and courteous. They were all extremely professional and expert in their field. The work was accomplished extremely well, and the blow-out test results revealed a 25% more efficient home, which will improve the comfort of the home and reduce our energy bills. We were very pleases with the work quality and the performance results. We would highly recommend Mo and his team.

Mohammed was amazing. Very personable, open, and honest. Gave me a great breakdown with detailed info on what is causing leaks and energy loss. I knew I had some issues but ddint realize how many issues until he walked me through every area of the house. He gave me a quote on everything he recommended, and it was more than reasonable. I am in the process of fixing the things I can do on my own and ceratinly plan to use him for the bigger things needed.

Mo did a thorough energy efficiency audit of my house several months ago. He spent several hours going over every corner of my house, from basement to attic, explaining what I can do to increase energy efficiency. All of this information was written up in a thorough report and sent to me a few days later. When I called Mo up this January to request his assistance to seal my attic and basement, he immediately organized the whole process with his subcontractor and within a couple of weeks they were at my house. The workers arrived promptly at 8:00 AM and worked non-stop until around 4:00 PM. They were courteous, professional, and efficient. Everything was cleaned up upon completion - these guys really worked well and went the extra mile to spray foam every opening possible. It is absolutely clear that as a result of HESS's weatherproofing work, my home has become warmer, my heat pump doesn't have to work as much, and I do not feel the cold air coming up from my basement throughout my house. Mo is a good communicator and knows his business well. Do not hesitate to call him - he could explain the whole process much better than I could in this short review. HESS is a very professional organization, and you will feel the results of their work immediately! My only regret is that I didn't get this done years ago...

The installation went extremely well. HESS brought in two teams of guys to get the work done in a single day. As described, they accomplished a lot of work in that day. The teams were skilled, professional in their conduct, and respectful of our home -- and Mohammed played a supervising role throughout to ensure that things progressed well. I was particularly impressed by their trouble-shooting and problem solving, and the integrity they brought to that process. For example, while preparing to blow insulation into one of the attic storage/crawl spaces, they discovered that our 2nd story bathroom van was simply venting into the crawl space. Rather than blow over the issue, as some might, they remedied the problem by installing new venting that ran to the outside (as it should) before then proceeding with their insulation work. Likewise, when working to insulate the small entry doors for the crawl space: the original estimate had been to simply install rigid foam insulation on those doors. When that proved problematic (because of hinges and trim work), Mohammed instead decided to install the more costly zippered shield with radiant barrier option -- a definite upgrade over the originally priced scope of work. He did not charge us any more for the upgrade, but kept to the original contract price! On a final positive note, HESS submitted the paperwork on our behalf to get a 50% rebate back from the utility company, so a $3000 installation ended up costing us only $1500. It was definitely worth the investment in terms of both a comfort and cost. We are very happy with the work that HESS did on our home, and have felt the difference in our house's heat retention ever since. We would use HESS again without hesitation, and highly recommend this company's services.

I would highly recommend HESS for the great job that Mo did on my energy audit. He was extremely thorough, answered all of my questions, and made himself available to walk me through my audit report after he had completed it. A++++

He recommended hybrid hot water heater and a new refrigerator, given the age of it. He answered many questions I had during the audit and also afterwards via a phone call. He provided a written report also. He was professional and pleasant.

Mohammed inspected all work and conducted a test-out blower test the same day to quantify the significant improvements in air flow efficiency. I am very pleased with Mohammed?s hard work as he conducted the tests, provided the report, organized and managed the fixes and ensured completion of this project. Mohammed was very nice and explained everything as we went along. We was clean and tidy. He was very patient with ALL of my questions. He was very prompt in getting back to us with a VERY thorough report of our energy audit. The recommendations were reasonable and easy to understand. He was prompt in scheduling the suggested repairs. (the work is scheduled to be done next week) His contract fees to repair the identified issues were very reasonable (especially if BGE will really provide the said rebates). He provided the promised efficient-flow showerheads, lightbulbs and pipe insulation. Can't wait to start seeing the savings!!!

First, Mohammed from Home Energy Saving Solutions (HESS) was a pleasure to work with. This whole process started on 4/30/15. I reviewed the PEPCO page of Participating Contractors for PEPCO's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program and picked HESS over other contractors based on reviews I read on Angie's List and elsewhere. Mohammed from HESS performed the initial energy audit of my house on 5/11/15, which was built in 1966 ($100; PEPCO paid the other $300). He was able to within days send me an energy audit report with a list of recommended energy saving improvements ("weatherization improvements") which totaled about $3200. I then reviewed his recommendations and scheduled a day of construction. Washington DC summers are brutal and I could not ask anyone to work in an attic in July. I scheduled the construction for mid-August. Devere Insulation, which works with HESS directly and is also a PEPCO Participating Contractor, was punctual. They immediately got to work and "prepped" the attic for the loose-fill insulation. A second crew from Devere showed-up in the afternoon to blow cellulose insulation into the attic up to DoE specs for the region. I had 3-4" of fiberglass insulation from the mid-60s and now I've got 14" of cellulose (and the old stuff underneath). The scope of work also included adding a radiant barrier attic tent to keep air from traversing between the attic and upper level through the pull-down stairs. The other weatherization improvements were completed on-time as well. The best part about hiring HESS is that they handle ALL the PEPCO rebate paperwork for you. HESS makes it easy for PEPCO customers to participate in their Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.

Mo was very courteous and on time. He explained what he was going to do and how it all worked. Although it was sometimes quite technical, we felt his findings were trustworthy and accurate.

Very smooth. Mo came on time and spent about 3 to 4 hours testing. A few days later I received a detailed report. It was very helpful!
