He was very knowledgeable about the best way to accomplish the task in an older home such as ours; and he also ensured that our project qualified for relevant energy rebates. Let me start by saying that HESS is an amazing company and Mohammed is wonderful example of a real customer-oriented business should look like. He was very professional, competent, approachable, responsive, genuinely caring, extremely knowledgable and ready to do anything in his power to do the project to customer's full satisfaction. I bought my very first house three years ago - it was build in mid 50th and even though it passed the home inspection it was painfully obvious that there is work and money investment that need to done both in the attic and in the crawl space - the house was incredibly drafty and it took a lot of HVAC's effort and energy to heat it up in winter and cool it down in summer. I got some estimates for insulation of both areas but the pricey were so exuberant that I put those project on a back burner. Until my friend told me about Mohammed and his company - they performed weatherization of her house and she was very happy. So I decided to give it a try. And I was more than satisfied! The whole process couldn't be any smoother. From the start when Mohammed performed the audit of the house, explained to me in details what the issues were and how to fix them, to bringing the crew of amazing workers who finished the job practically in half a day (working simultaneously in the attic and the crawl space) leaving the house spotless. And most importantly, my house feels absolutely amazing now! The temperature fluctuations between day and night that I experienced before have disappeared and the house remains pretty much at the same temperature all the time, without using heating/cooling during the months of May and June. Pretty amazing! And all of this work, with the help of Maryland programs (and HESS took care of all that paperwork!), cost me fraction of the money that original estimates asked for. I would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend Mohammed and HESS to anyone who wants their house to feel good and comfortable and who wants to do it with a company that puts their customer satisfaction as their number one priority!

Great. The energy audit identified the source of the humidity infiltration. And the audit report identified adjustments needed to the exhaust fan.

We found HESS through Pepco's Home Performance energy savings program. Mohammed was responsive, arrived on time for the audit, and made sure to ask about any comfort issues we were having. After the audit, he took us through everything he found and made recommendations based on both energy savings and the comfort issues we discussed. He answered all my questions (and I had a lot), and explained in detail exactly what work he was suggested. When it came time for the actual work, it turned out to be a little more involved than expected, but they still managed to get it done in a day. Again Mohammed walked me through all the work that was done and answered all my questions. We haven't had a chance to test out the new insulation in the winter, but so far our upstairs is maintaining a much more uniform temperature and the A/C has definitely not been working as hard. Prior to the insulation we had a room that was 4-5 degrees hotter or colder than the rest of the upstairs depending on the season. Mohammed has also made the Pepco rebate process easy to manage so far, and his estimate was within 3% of the final rebate we will receive. I've been incredibly impressed with his communication throughout the whole process and would recommend HESS for any energy saving or comfort issues with your home.

The representative we worked with, Mohammed El-Ghoul, was very knowledgeable, professional and patient. The audit identified areas that could be addressed to make our house more energy efficient. Mohammed helped us find the right combination of options to fit our issues and budget. The crew that came to do the work was very prompt, neat and thorough.

Individual arrived on time and went to work. At the conclusion, he emailed me the findings and recommendations. At that time, I was planning on replacing windows but during assessment, there was minimal heat loss through windows. Saved me several thousand dollars by not buying the windows. Exceptional! The difference is night-and-day. We have experienced high humidity in our upstairs living area ever since moving into our home. We were also accustomed to our HVAC not keeping up with the hot summers. Days with outside temperatures in the 90s would equate our upstairs heat pump creeping up usually 6 to 7 degrees higher than what we had it set to. We would set the thermostat to 69-70 degrees and the upstairs temperature would increase to at least 75-76 in the afternoons and the humidity would stay in the 70-80% range. This is even after replacing the HVAC and all windows in the house! Home Energy Saving Solutions came in and after a home energy audit, knew exactly what the problems were. They found incredible air leaks into the attic, and areas of low or missing insulation in the attics. We hired them to fix the issues and the difference is incredible. It was 90 degrees and sunny yesterday and our thermostat stayed on 70 degrees all day! It didn’t budge at all, and the humidity stayed at 50%. Our upstairs is finally comfortable again. We are beyond happy with the work they performed and would recommend Home Energy Saving Solutions to anyone experiencing similar conditions in their home.

Hess did excellent work in our house in Bethesda! The results of your test-out were impressive. Previously, our home needed 6582 cubic feet of air per minute (CFM50) blown out to keep the house at a -50Pascal pressure difference (according to the audit report), versus 3620 CFM50 with the test-out. This equates to your Natural Air Exchange Rate improving from .61 to .33, almost 50% improvement! That means that our HVAC system has to cool/heat that much less air that is being lost to the outside. This test does not measure the impact of all the additional insulation in reducing heat loss that was done, only the air leakage portion of the work! It's 104F outside today, and we already feel the difference! All work was done in one day, they left house clean as it was before they came. Mohammed was very responsive, provided detailed explanation during the whole process, and replied promptly to my requests. Pepco rebate is supposed to cover 40+% of total cost. Mohammed submitted all paperwork himself. Updated as of 12/21 Mohammed did a great job to follow up with PEPCO on my rebate. For whatever reason, I haven't received the check. I wrote the email to Mohammed asking to follow up with PEPCO. Within 10 days I receive the check. Mohammed did not only great job on weatherization, but was also quick and responsive to follow up with PEPCO.

Our insulation damage problem turned out to be a bigger job than expected. Throughout, Mohammed and his team/s were a pleasure to work with. They kept us informed so we knew what to expect - and they delivered this and more. A snag we hit was attended to quickly at no extra cost to us. We were told to expect a cooler house - we definitely got this! I'm delighted to recommend Mohammed and his team as competent, value for money service professionals. And they are real gentlemen as well - all of them.

Very impressed with their technician's knowledge and professionalism. He walked throughout the house with me explaining energy-loss issues and pointing out a number of energy-saving suggestions. Also very pleased that the survey included leak-testing our entire home. His thermal imaging equipment provided visual evidence of heat loss issues. Written report I received several days later was very thorough. While the firm did provide estimates for correcting problems found during the survey, there was no pressure to use their services. While I appreciate the special price offered through Angie's list, I would have gladly paid full price for HESS services.

Home Energy Savings Solutions is Amazing!!! I had an Energy Efficiency Audit done in February since part of the cost was prorated through my electric company (PEPCO), and Mohammed came out on time, was extremely thorough and knowledgable, and very meticulous. He laid out what the best "bang for my buck" was in terms of energy efficiency, gave me a ton of useful reading material in terms of my house energy situation, and then completed all the contract and rebate paperwork for me. We then set a date for his team (The Fifth Fuel) to come out and insulate/seal my attic space and they were fantastic as well. They arrived early, were very professional, worked throughout the entire day, and then cleaned everything up. In the end, I had a 22% reduction in air leakage throughout my house. They do excellent work!!! I wholeheartedly recommend Mohammed and his team at Home Energy Saving Solutions for everything in regards to home energy efficiency!!!

Mohammed was absolutely professional and thorough. As we walked through the house when performing the audit, he explained issues. He was prompt with the report and then flexible in our options for moving forward, if we so chose to. We followed up with him and his company to perform the work from the audit. His crew was punctual and professional. When he performed the "test out" or post-audit-work evaluation, (10% is the BGE program minimum standard to qualify for energy improvement rebates) he said 20% is pretty good and normal. Us? We improved our air leak efficiency by almost 40% thanks to his audit and work! We could feel the difference almost immediately as they added 16" of blown-in insulation, among other things. With that dramatic increase, over $7,700 worth of work qualifies for almost $5,000 in energy improvement rebates! I simply cannot recommend Mohammed enough. It's refreshing to know there are still people who perform quality, professional work. Thank you.

Our experience with Home Energy Savings Solutions was great. At first, we didn’t want to dish out the $100 to do the energy inspection. After doing the inspection however, we recommend every home owner get one done, because it pays for itself. As part of the assessment, Mohammed replaced all the light bulbs with LEDs and all our shower heads with high efficiency ones. Those changes alone will cost you $100. Mohammed also walked me through the house as he did the assessment with an IR camera to show me the inefficiencies and heat loss areas. For the work, we priced three companies. I sent the energy assessment to each of them and Home Energy Savings Solutions offered to do more repairs and for cheaper. They did the work in one day and reduced our air exchange rate by almost 20%! During the repairs, the workers found a leak in our roof while adding insulation in the attic and gave us recommendations for repair. Mohammed also made other suggestions to further improve energy efficiency throughout the house, little home repair stuff that I could do on the weekends. Overall it was a great experience and I would hire them again.

HESS did great job. Mohammed started with a thorough audit from roof to basement, including a blower test and infrared camera. The audit included swapping in efficient LEDs, power strips, faucets filters/showerheads, etc. He provided a detailed report with recommendations and took the time to explain everything. The work crew completed the recommended work in a single day, which included tasks from the attic to the basement, and left the house as clean as when they arrived. The follow-up audit showed a 34% reduction in air loss, which should make a big difference in heating and cooling bills, as well as make the house more comfortable. The work ran about $2800 but qualified for over $1700 in power company rebates, and Mohammed kindly took care of the paperwork for that so I didn't have to do anything. I highly recommend HESS if you want to improve your house's energy efficiency.

You know that dream dream encounter, with the perfect company for the job for your home -- where everything is done perfectly and right, on time, and EXACTLY as described, and the results are somehow 10X better than imagined? Until now I would have said its a fantasy, but that is really how good Mohammed and his crew are. This was a huge job, and we did it in the last days of the Pepco rebate offer. The home was not liveable upstairs on some days because of the poor insulation and heat - and the AC bills were astronomical..... Furthermore, we were unaware that there were endless old problems that Mohammed's extremely careful assessment revealed, including parts of the side attics that were exposed to the outside. His initial assessment was a few hours where he went over every inch of the house and did many measurements. He has scientific and engineering training in his background and explains what he is doing very well. He arrived on time, was extremely polite, absolutely thorough, and incredibly patient as he answered question after question. He provides you with a magnificent report, and goes on to explain that report in as much details as you need. The suggested changes come to you in a separate document, excruciatingly specific and each with an explanation as to why they should be undertaken, and what the expected outcome is. This is not some rapidly slapped together report. It has so much information. He then provides a separate analysis of what type of improvement to expect, and I can attest that the improvement in our home is far, far beyond his estimate. On the day of service, the hottest day of the summer, they arrived on time, the covered everything up in every part of the house while working, they worked in 110 degree heat in an attic that may have been 120--and they didn't stop until evening when the house was transformed. They cleaned up everything, left the house spotless ---and Mohammed did all the paperwork needed for the Pepco rebate. It could have been traumatizing, considering there were three separate large attics, and it was not. I am never happy to have to spend a ton of money on a project in this home, and I am almost never happy with the outcome. This is the exception - the best experience we have ever had in many years of home ownership and I am very glad I researched extensively before selecting this company. You may get a cheaper quote from a good number of people, but you will get cheap, poor work. If you want the epitome of professionalism and a job done perfectly, hire this company. I cannot thank them enough.

Mohammed conducted a comprehensive energy audit, and answered any questions I had, even those not strictly related to services he offered or improvements that he recommended. We hired his team to do the insulation (including duct sealing) and crawlspace encapsulation. They worked efficiently and did the whole thing in a single day (a long day). There were a few cleanup things they didn't do as well as we might have liked (e.g. some spray insulation that came through the attic into a few spaces in our house), but overall, we were incredibly happy with the work, and would happily hire Home Energy Saving Solutions again, or recommend them to others. We immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in how often our AC had to run to keep the house at temperature, and the rooms that had humidity issues were also noticeably improved. While it'll take quite a few years for this work to pay for itself (energy costs), the comfort of a much more well-regulated home temperature is incredibly valuable on its own, along with the peace of mind in knowing we're not wasting so much energy any more.
