Renewal by Andersen of Baltimore Metro

Installation was rescheduled, fouling up my own schedule. Then they called, wanting clearance to come out when scheduled (just before); they waited until I picked up the msg. to start out, an hour's drive. So they started late. They rushed all day. The installer was good, but his helper was a nuisance. Made a mess. If I hadn't moved their drop cloths, he would have scratched my floor dragging waste across it. At the end, I couldn't open any of the windows (I had pre-Andersen windows I couldn't open either). I waited some weeks for someone to comer and fix the door (poorly installed, missing parts, scratched by them; lock still requires two hands to move) and windows; those guys knew what they were doing. All in all, I spent a lot of time waiting and finally am almost done. UPDATE: This is an addendum to what I wrote yesterday. One thing they were spectacular about: they keep ordering new parts and coming back, without complaint or reluctance, numerous times, until everything is good. So we are still in that process.

They arrived at the scheduled time. The job was completed within the arranged days. The Cleanup was very good.

Aside from a couple outdoor plants taking a bit of a drubbing, everything went very well. It was very quick and the house was "open" to the elements for only a very short time. Cleanup was well done and the windows are really nice. Our salesman was Doug and the manger was Arif. Both were very easy to work with.

Absolutely wonderful!!! The salesman knew his products; measured accurately; and listened to me about what I wanted the end result to be. The installation crew was magnificent. We ran into a slight problem on the front storm door. The previous installer of the door frame didn't install the bottom plate properly causing problems for the Andersen installers. The Andersen team huddled; came up with a solution; and presented it to me. I accepted the solution of extending the door frame by fractions of an inch and the result is beautiful and flawless. I am extremely happy with The Renewal by Andersen team and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for replacement doors or windows.

The sales man was not good. He knew the product and was good with that. I was going back to change a few things with some of windows like the locks which he knew about. He knew that I was going to be making changes when I got to the show room to look at all the windows and he was not good at getting back to me either by email or telephone. I had a lot of problem with that and then his numbers kept changing with regards to the quote that I was given. It was really bizarre because the number were just going higher when I was taking away things and down grading something. It was very frustrating but I wanted the windows because I knew they were good windows. Once I got all of that straightened out the windows were ordered. I actually got the windows sooner than I actually thought they would; I thought they wouldn’t be coming in until March. The people who came into install measured them and then installed the windows. Those people were wonderful. The only problem that I had was with the actual salesman who came to my house trying to get a number that I needed to pay for the windows. Overall I am pleased with the windows and the people that installed it but not the sales representative. They are very well aware of the problem that I had because the regional manager came to my house the day the windows were being installed just to make sure everything went through smoothly. He was very receptive to my concerns and all the issues that I had.

Facts: 1. We ordered the door and a bathroom window on 10/ 23, 2013 for $6500. We new that our door was not a standard door which is why we did not just buy a door from home depot for $2000. 2. They did not install A door until 12/31/2013 3. On that day the window they brought was not even close to the window we ordered. We ordered a bathroom window, since the wood around it was rotted. They brought an off the shelf double hung standard window which was 20" too long. 4. We still do not have the correct window. (2/28/2014) 5. As of today Mr. Durani insists that we have to pay an additional $2000 to have the correct door installled. (2/28/2013) 6. As of today Mr. Durani has not presented any written evidence that we knew we were not ordering a custom door. 7. The we sites contradict all there statements. My perspective: In order to meet the 12/31 deadline a "Renewal" french patio door was installed yesterday by your excellent technicians. BUT IT WAS NOT OUR DOOR. The old door measures 82" long by 59 Inches across The door that was installed yesterday is is 79" high and 57" inches across. That's 3 inches short on the length and 2 inches short on the width. We all know that this is not our door and that they just installed a door to make the deadline. Even the technicians knew it wasn't the correct door because I did overhear a number of conversations over the phone asking for instructions on how to overcome the problem.Their solution was to build up the threshold 3 additional inches and add 1 inch spacer surrounding the door. When the installed door is swung open the bottom of the door floats 4 inches above the flooring. As a result of the retrofit, the margin between the frame and the doors are not as tight as expected and advertised. What is curious is that the screen doors are almost the correct size and sit less than an inch above the step which is the way it should be. Now we have a 4 inch threshold which I SPECIFICALLY said to Michael the salesman that I DID NOT want more than 1" threshold which was the same as our old doors (even though t ey date bak to the 50's) This is is a true hazard. If someone trips over it, the fall to the concrete steps will cause serious harm. A law suit waiting to happen. Also the technicians failed to bring the correct window. As you may recall we requested a window in our bathroom. It's obvious that was the one we wanted to replace because the wood around it is disintegrating. Again, I do believe that the truth is that our order was NOT delivered to the on the 30th so they did NOT have the correct items to install. After this lettter the sale manager, Anrif Duarni, visited our home along with the salesman, Michael (who seemed absolutely clueless, and did NOT say ONE WORD), the install manager. Mr. Durani said that although we paid $6500, we did NOT pay for a "customized" door. They want $2000 PLUS the money already invested to correct the problem. WHo would pay $6500 for a standard door you can buy at home depot for $2000? AND STILL DO NOT HAVE THE WINDOW! 4 MONTHS

Only had one issue with a window that was not sized correctly. They did not request the final payment until the window was fixed and we completed the review with the installer. Very smooth process.

This was a very difficult window to remove and to replace. They ran into an unexpected problem when the old window was removed. The brick above the window was not supported correctly by the previous installer. The "LINTEL" was missing that supports the bricks above the window. The mortar around those bricks was cracked, which had probably caused the leak in the first place. Rather than make due, they called in a Structural Engineer. He said that they could not proceed with the installation until a "lintel" was installed to support the bricks. This delayed the completion of the installation for a week. They boarded up the hole in the kitchen wall with plywood and sealed it with foam. A Bricklayer came the next day to install the Lintel and re- brick the loosened bricks. The following week the new window was installed. The window is beautiful. My husband and I were very grateful that they were not willing to take shortcuts to get it done, but wanted to "do it correctly". Hopefully, this time it will not leak!

Love the windows but beware their sexist sales practices. I was a customer of theirs in the past. I called to schedule an estimate for a few more windows in our house. I thought it was strange that she kept asking about my husband ....is he still co-owner of the house .... would he be present for the appointment. Finally she told me she would need the special permission of her supervisor in order to book the appointment because my husband won't be here. Excuse me?? Why would they assume I am incapable of making a decision about my own house and paying for the purchase? I have done many remodeling projects on this house, and no service provider has ever asked to speak with my husband. To be clear, this comment applies to the national Renewal by Anderson service, the central scheduling service. It is not specific to the Jessup location, necessarily.

I felt they were very expensive. We decided to not go with them, but they were on time for the estimate.

I liked it all. They did a great job with the installation. The windows are top notch and excellent quality. They were prompt and all that.

This is the first time I used Angie's list for contractor work, and decided to call Renewal by Andersen based on their ratings. Everything went smoothly from the estimate, tech measurement, and installation. I was even impressed that the General Manager came to observe the design consultation during the estimate. They contacted me within a week of accepting the estimate to schedule the tech measurement then shortly after the installation date. The price was a little more expensive than my other estimates. However, the three men who installed the windows and doors did an impeccable job. They were courteous and professional. In addition, they replaced some wood rot near the sliding glass door area and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. The windows and sliding glass door are gorgeous and the quality is outstanding. I'm glad I decided to go with Renewal by Andersen for their reputation, quality of work, and piece of mind. It was a great experience. Thanks!

They did a spectacular job, they knocked it out in one day and they sealed up the house really well. There are still a few windows that I want them to install. We have a very old farm house and the windows were in very poor shape. You could feel the cold air coming in, and after they installed the new windows we've had no problem at all. The home stays nice and warm now. They had a three guy crew and they were very professional. They brought all the materials with them and they cleaned up after themselves. They don't take smoke breaks or lunch, they just work straight through to get the job done. They are expensive, but they tell you that upfront. They handcrafted these windows to our specification.

Would had been hard for it to have gone better. There was some delay on installing the doors because an error at the factory on the entry door meant that it had to be done over, thus delaying the doors. A five man crew spent two entire work days removing tje old wood framed double-hung windows, then installing new top quality windows in their place. Materials were top quality and the workmanship and professionalism of the crew couldn't be beat. I can't emphasize how thorough and careful Bob and his crew were, and they cleaned up after themselves completely on both days. We went with casement replacements with grids that give them the traditional appearance of out old windows, but much easier to open and close (and they can't be painted shut!).

Several years ago received a quote to do the work prior to the recession. We called them back and a rep came out very quickly with the original quote, was able to update and refresh with new finishes and options. We'd done enough research that we were confident in the product and the price was in line. Signed the contract. The installers came out to confirm measurements as scheduled and completed that process quickly. Said to expect a call with in 3 weeks for the install. About three weeks later the scheduler called and our windows would be completed sooner then expected and asked if it was convenient to schedule sooner. We were told it would take two full days. Which it did. The installers prepped, masked and covered the stairs the vents and the floors. Went to work and before 5:00pm had completed the primary install of all the windows. Day two completed the caulking and trim work, removed the tarps, and masking, vacuumed and cleaned the floors. One screen ripped during installation, the crew leader pointed it said they'd have some call, which they did, quickly and new screen should be installed in the next few days. Overall very professional, kept or exceeded expectations.

Mary Beth the Renewal by Andersen sales person was the most knowledgeable of all who quoted on our door replacement project. The pricing was competitive right from the start with out all of the usual back and fourth negotiation. The order was placed promptly and delivery was actually earlier then expected. Mary Beth was there at each step of the process from the technical measurement to the installation. Tom, the installer and his crew showed up on time as schedule, were professional, courteous and left our home immaculate after the work was completed. I would highly recommend renewal by Andersen for door replacement.

Day One 1. The crew placed drop clothes throughout the house on the path to each window. 2. The windows were sealed on the inside with plastic sheeting to guard against lead paint dust. 3. The old windows were removed from the outside. 4. Aluminum storm windows were detached from the old windows and carefully stacked. 5. New windows were installed. 6. Debris was gathered and wrapped up. 7. Drop cloths were rolled up. 8. Floors were vacuumed. Day Two 1. Drop cloths again placed throughout the house. 2. All windows were caulked, inside and outside. 3, Trimwork was installed. 4. Debris was gathered and wrapped up. 5. Dropped cloths were rolled up. 6. Floors were vacuumed.

We had a wonderful sales rep, Colter, who was very informative and friendly. No problem with the process.Jim measured the windows and was great since all the windows and door fit with no problems.The installers, Edwin and Daemon, were the BEST. They worked continuously. They were meticulous and cleaned everything - no mess at all. And the dogs loved them.

I would recommend Anderson tech support give the option to have the mechanic installation or self repair from the start as opposed to trying to push it off on the consumer from the start and then offering the offer the mechanic.

That's the division of Anderson Windows that does the replacement windows, as opposed to the windows that go into construction. Their products are the best, made out of the best materials, and the construction of them is innovative. They brought back several people including the installers to look at our house. They and the salesman came several times to answer all our questions and never pressured us. This Renewal by Anderson is in Baltimore, near Woodland. The crew is superior, professional, great, cleaned up after themselves, and were very accomodating with us as being the homeowner, as I know some homeowners can be annoying. Since we have done these windows, I can feel the difference, they are well insulated, have a special coating on them, can stand in the window, do not feel the hot sun, the rain hits them, rolls off, and does not leave a film. Your carpets and floors are not supposed to fade. The windows are double hung, both of the panes fold in for you to clean them from the inside. The core of the window frame is made out of material that keeps them from expanding and contracting. They say vinyl ones do the same, but we read that they do expand and contract. The warranty actually transfers to the new homeowner if we sell. The price was high but we have exceptional quality. They were fantastic. I want to make sure the people in the Baltimore facility get the credit and not the one in Washington, as I do not know what kind of service they give. I give them high ratings.

They came out this morning because we had a broken glass pane on our patio door. It was one of the layers on our patio door. When we saw it, there was a little hole in the center. They gave us a quote. There was nothing that indicated what had happened. I think I spent about $8000, but it was probably more than that. The contractors came out and did the job. They were very professional. They got everything done very smoothly. They found a little bit of rotting wood on one side of the house. So, they gave a quick estimate on it and replaced it as a part of the job. Everything went very smoothly. My husband took the contractor’s card afterwards. If need be, then we would definitely deal with them. We have an ongoing relationship with them here. The price was average. We would use their services in the future too.

Renewal By Andersen (RBA) Baltimore just completed a two day whole-house window replacement for us. We were very satisfied with all aspects of their service from the estimating process through installation and we would not hesitate to use them again. We picked RBA after getting estimates from three companies. The installation crew worked two days, showing up on time both days and cleaning up after each day's works. They were efficient, friendly and did a quality job. We are very satisfied with the quality & function of the windows. The house was spotless after the installation; the installers used tarps extensively, vacuumed all work areas and hauled away all debris. One aspect of the way RBA does business that really impressed me was the amount of automation in the estimating and ordering process: the estimator on the first visit input his measurements into his notebook computer, selecting our chosen options on each window and printed out a spreadsheet and estimate right on the spot. He left that with us while we got other estimates and that file became the basis of our order later on. This same data was used for exact measurements and final ordering later on in the process, eliminating errors in having data transcribed after the initial visit. We changed some sash and screen options when the final (exact) measurements were made on the second visit and it was very quick and easy to accomplish.

It was a big decision to replace these windows, but I am so glad we did. I thought the installation process would be painful and messy, but it was really no big deal! The crew was very easy to work with, flexible and very focused on the details. They let me know what to expect, and they delivered. My home was cleaner when they left than when they started, and that's because they vacuum everything thoroughly under every window, even picking up the leaves outside! I thought this job would take two days, but this crew of four finished it in one day. Also, the sales and measurement stages went well. We understood what to expect, and everything was scheduled and executed as advertised. The price was also unchanged from start to finish. Overall, we are very glad we decided to do this, and we're pleased that we selected Renewal by Andersen.

I am delighted with the results. I really like my new windows. Everyone (salesman, scheduler, installer team) was very professional and easy to work with. Both the salesman and the installer team were very prompt and knowledgeable. When I signed the contract, Jeff told me that Lawrence would call me to tell me when my windows would be ready and to schedule an installation date. And, everything happened just as predicted and very quickly. Jake, Brandon, and Ray were very professional when they came to install. They went right to work. One of the sliding doors was broken so they did not bring it. They came back when the new one arrived and installed it promptly. They cleaned up nicely after they did their work which I appreciated. I would definitely use Renewal by Andersen again.
