Description of Work: This company is awesome! From the very first contact with them, I was treated with respect and as a valued customer. Gil Ben Shoushan was my relocation specialist from the outset, and he was incredibly accessible, professional, and concerned about my moving experience. Our packing/loading team consisted of Luis, Albert, Jesse, and Valentin. They, too, were efficient, helpful, and professional. Edgar and his partner unloaded at our new location and were also great. Based on my experience, I HIGHLY recommend this company.

Description of Work: I would highly recommend NOT using Moving USA! I got their recommendation here from Angie's List and went with them based on that recommendation, despite not being the cheapest for my recent move from Maryland to Washington State. | |David White from the Jessup, MD office was my point of contact. He seemed very responsive and willing to go the extra mile for my business... at first. As soon as I put down my (non refundable) deposit down everything changed. His demeanor became very dismissive of my concerns and in some cases even hostile. | |I made my reservations 3 months ahead of my move, requesting at that time to be the first pickup of the day. In the intervening time, I worked with David to dial in exactly what was going and get an accurate estimate. When moving day arrived I was assured an arrival window of between 9 and 11 am (first of the day). They did not arrive until after 1 pm because I was told they got held up at another pickup. I had been assured by David that all personnel would directly employed by Moving USA, but the three that packed me and one that delivered my things (yes one, he actually asked me to grab a hand truck and help him unload his truck for him) were all brokers, not employees. The three sent out to pick up my things did a relatively good job packing, although they were very rough, throwing things around haphazardly while I was watching; I can only imagine what happens when the customer isn't standing right there. | |Before leaving, the driver asked me to pay half of the adjusted estimate. It was at this point I found out that David had failed to include MANY items to told him specifically about; as well, they were suddenly asking for a much higher per cubic foot rate (almost a dollar more), a total discrepancy nearly DOUBLING the then current estimate. I called David immediately and he wouldn't answer his phone at all (which became more and more the case as time wore on). I finally was able to get ahold of a sales manager at the Jessup office, who's name I didn't get, who told me "if you don't like it, I'll have the driver throw your sh*t off the truck." Now being in a bind as I was leaving for the West Coast the next day, I had no choice but to play their game. | |A few days later, I was finally able to get ahold of David again to discuss the per cubic foot rate. He said he would fix it send me the paperwork. A few days later I called him to followup after not having heard anything. He again didn't pick up his phone but a few minutes later I received an email from him with a corrected cubic foot rate, but also adding (for the very first time) a fuel surcharge, extra labor costs, and an even higher cubic footage estimate of my things. The total of this was still nearly twice the last agreed upon estimate. It's important to note too, that they advertise no hidden fees. It was about this time I wrote David and told him that I had come to them because of Angie's List and would report my ill feelings towards them if pains weren't made to correct all this, to which a was greeted with more divisiveness and even some derision. | |When they made delivery (total time from pickup to delivery, 2800 miles away was 11 days) almost every piece was damaged in some way. Some minor dents, some items were completely crushed. One large garment box was all of 18 inches tall when it came off the truck. Furniture had gouges, cuts. I have filed a claim for the most severely damaged items but to date have not heard any followup from that. | |I've moved many times. This was BY FAR my worst experience. Please, don't make the mistake I did.

Description of Work: The crew arrived promptly at the scheduled time and, as arranged, made a prescheduled stop about 15 minutes away at a relative's apartment in my hometown to drop off 16 boxes. All of the important things were accomplished in the move--they wrapped my furniture well and moved a baby grand piano up a steep hill into my home using a ramp! A few boxes that were labeled for drop-off at location A mistakenly went to my home (the final stop) but that is really minor in a move of this type. They tried several times to get a large couch into my new basement and did everything they could until it was apparent it would not fit through either the exterior basement entrance or the basement steps from the first floor of the home. I was pleased with their competence and professionalism and will use them again!

Description of Work: They moved me from a one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom apartment 5 miles away. Everything seemed fine during the move and I was happy to give them a good rating after I wrote the check. Then I started to unpack, and my feelings changed completely. | |They used four wardrobes for the move. Rather then hang my suits sportcoats and dress shirts, they simply stuff them into the wardrobe. I couldn't believe it. Even where they hung clothes in the wardrobe correctly, they then stuffed in other clothes or moving items to fill up the empty spaces. As a result, everything was wrinkled. All my ties were neatly hanging from tie racks. They took the tie racks and dumped them into the bottom of the wardrobe. I found them in a jumble at the bottom of the box when I started unpacking. | |At the end of the move they had told me that they had left some things behind in my apartment because they were liquids and liquids can be flammable. I thought nothing of it. But when I went back to the apartment to finish off the small items, I found that they had left many cabinets unpacked they had also left all the food n the refrigerator. I was there at the apartment from 10 PM to 2 AM packing and moving things that they should've taken. I filled my Subaru station wagon to the roof with all the things they left behind, including their packing materials for me to clean up. They said that they couldn't move any flammable liquids. But then they expanded this to say that if there were flammable liquids they couldn't take any nonflammable liquids sitting next to them, and they couldn't take any nonliquid objects that happened to be in the cabinet with liquids. As if that weren't bad enough, they left a clock on the wall, and pans in the oven. Finally, they had to leave my new apartment before I was really ready for them to leave. | |In their defense, there were some difficulties clearing the loading dock at the new building, and access may have been worse than in other buildings. | |Still, I feel I was made to suffer because their estimators had not allowed enough time to get the job done. | |Other little things: They banged some furniture while moving it in and out of the apartment. One of the movers in particular seemed too impatient and improperly supervised. Maybe this is nitpicking. But when I saw how they had packed the wardrobes, they lost all credibility. I mean, who does that? What were they thinking? Did the movers really send me people who had never had any clothes dry cleaned or iron a shirt? | |And when I returned to my old apartment to finish off the moving, and saw how much they left undone, that sealed it. | |I was around the old apartment for the first three hours of the move, which took eight hours in total. I guess I made a mistake ever leaving the movers out of my sight.
