Eric was quick to respond to my inquiry and to any questions I had. He was punctual and true to word. It was important to me that the new headers matched those on the row homes adjacent to mine, and he pulled it off. Enjoyed working with him and will recommend him to neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: Replaced the headers above my front door and three windows.

Eric Stinebaugh and his people did a wonderful job. An extra section of flue was added to make the chimney about 2 feet higher. The brick match for the new section, the new crown and the repointing repair is beautiful. The patio surface was completely reset around the edges where it was loose and the remaining horizontal surface bricks repointed. The patio deck was done mostly with the original brick (which I liked). The surface looks new. The vertical wall was completely rebuilt and the brick match to the patio surface is excellent. The patio and wall are beautiful. Eric even added a brick step from the patio to my family room. The driveway expansion joints were dug out and resealed with a caulk-like substance to prevent undermining from rain runoff. This is beautiful also. Eric Stinebaugh is a real masonry craftsman and a perfectionist. He has an excellent eye for detail. He is understandably proud of his work. He was always accessible if I had questions during the job. I highly recommend him and his people.
Description of Work: Stinebaugh Masonry, LLC did chimney, patio and driveway repair for me in August 2014. My house is about 45 years old. The terracotta flue in my one-story chimney was deteriorating and brick work in the chimney needed repair and re-pointing. My brick patio with a vertical storage wall (approx. 3 feet high) needed extensive repair. The brick patio is on a solid concrete pad. Loose brick around the perimeter of the horizontal surface needed to be removed and reset. All of the remaining horizontal surface needed to be repointed. The vertical wall needed to be completely removed and rebuilt. The horizontal patio is approximately 16 feet by 25 feet. The vertical wall is about 12 feet long and 3 feet high. The expansion joints in my concrete driveway had deteriorated and needed to be dug out and refilled.

Eric is outstanding. We removed two storm windows and window wells, put in brick where the windows were, and then finished the patio to cover up the former window wells. We also wanted to repair our chimney. Eric did a simply terrific job. He was on time each day; courteous; very communicative (he asked each day if we were happy with how things were going, and he insisted that we tell him if there was something we thought he could do better); and came in right at or slightly under his budget for time and cost. The quality of the work was great. We're extremely pleased and would hire him again without hesitation.

Not clear about this category: How did it go????? It didn't.
Description of Work: I deduced from my conversation with Eric that he is very knowledgeable and committed to quality work. My Dad was from the old school and his work was impeccable so Eric's comments resonated with me. However a stone wall, severely compromised due to an initial crack in the concrete developed into a major issue through the winter which had to be attended to. I met with Eric in May and owing to his schedule, he would not have been able to begin the work until December, weather permitting. The timeline would have been acceptable if season was not the issue, but a red flag went up giving attention to doing outside masonry work in the dead of winter. That didn't seem logical. I hope the far end of the line regarding Eric's clients does not make for an accelerated meet with a brick wall (no pun intended). The business plan needs to be addressed. I have headed a university department for 30 plus years during which I have supervised almost two dozen employees and, believe it or not, a key business plan made for success. If Eric's work is as good as reviews suggest, he deserves a long successful business life.

Eric did a fantastic job repairing the jack arch and constructing a floor in the old fireplace which was recently exposed (previously covered by plaster, drywall, and bricked up). We had a slight issue with color matching of the mortar which seems to be attributable to the lighting in my living room though (LED lights have a different spectrum compared to incandescent), and the fact that I didn't have a full re-pointing in my budget making the repair spots more obvious. Eric's commitment to quality and perfection led him to come out again and redo the pointing with a closer-matching mortar color without even being asked. I've since recommended him to several neighbors who need exterior facade re-pointing and he has done absolutely STUNNING work next door on my neighbors facade -- the 1/8 - 1/4 inch historic mortar joints are no larger than before the repointing which is particularly important in my neighborhood since it is designated as a historic district. Many other masons would not take the time and care to preserve the exact look of the facade. He also did an excellent job cleaning up and not leaving a dusty mess in the neighborhood. He even swung by my place to check on his previous work and make sure I was satisfied -- really a commitment to the customer that I have never seen rivaled by anyone else in any industry. Truly one of the best masons in the Baltimore area with an excellent team and also just a downright great guy. I wouldn't hesitate to give him business again in the future, and in fact, look forward to it.
Description of Work: 1840's era Baltimore Row home exposed brick work: Replacement of damaged jack arch header in exposed brick fireplace, construction of a floor inside the firebox, and partial repointing of surrounding exposed brick wall, including repair of crumbling/disintegrated soft brick.

Eric was very professional and upfront about scheduling availability. He was able to walk me through what is required for the repair process on the chimney (scaffolding, inspecting, grinding, filling, etc.). He also provided a quote for a brick mailbox construction. He showed me pictures of previous projects and the quality of the work looks astounding. The quoted price certainly reflects the quality of the work and I feel that with this type of work you do get what you pay for. Unfortunately we are not able to complete this project at this time. If and when we do decide to have the work performed we will certainly call Eric back.

Eric is very professional, friendly, and honest. We had a good feeling from the first time we met him and never regretted our choice. He is the best contractor we've ever had and made the process easy. Him and his workers did a fantastic job. After the work was complete, he made sure we were happy with the work. Even after we noticed a few minor cosmetic issues, he was quick to respond and come back to fix them with no additional charge until we were happy. Another thing that shows his integrity is that when we accidentally overpaid on one of the payments, he notified us immediately of the overpayment and drove back to return the check. Also, we gave him a B for price because it was higher than we expected, but definitely worth it. We've hired him for future work and would highly recommend him.

From my first phone call through the end of the job, Eric and his crew were phenomenal. He was patient, took the time to explain things, he listened to me and I really felt like he understood what we needed done and was able to provide the work in a quality manner. When he came to do the estimate, he was able to pinpoint the year our home was built (he was off by 5 years) which impressed me from the get go. He had a good sense of humor and really made us feel taken care of. Eric originally had us booked for August but was able to get us in earlier to repair our stone work on the front walkway. He books out far in advance but in my opinion, he is worth the wait. Communication was excellent, his crew was pleasant and if I didn't have a repaired walkway, I'd never know work was done. Cleanup was excellent and they went above and beyond when they noticed something else that needed repairing and fixed it without us mentioning it at the time of the estimate. I'm incredibly thankful we found Stinebaugh Masonry and will certainly look to this company again in the future should I need masonry work.

Eric Stinebaugh was very professional and personable in presenting his estimate. He arrived promptly with his crew at the agreed upon date and worked with great care . I went up on the roof, at Eric's invitation while they were working and when it was completed. Our house is over 50 years old and I was happy to see that all the brick and cement matched perfectly to the original. The chimney and roof were completely clean as was the area around it. We are now proud owners of the best chimney in the neighborhood. Thank you Eric and your crew.

Eric Stinebaugh returned my first call within 24 hours, and came to my home 2 days later. He reviewed the work we needed, gave us a written detailed estimate and was forthcoming and honest with start time and weather related temperature standards for concrete and mortar work. He also returned before starting the multiple projects we had with his workers to review with them what needed to be done. We had a brick chimney leak that 2 other contractors claimed they "fixed". Eric not only guaranteed his work but gave his word that he would repair our chimney and cap to match our brick ,and he would return as needed to be sure we no longer had a leak! The next job we needed was very important to us! We wanted 8 basement level windows removed and bricked in from the outside to match the current brick on our home. Not an easy job for any mason! Eric matched our brick after carefully photographing color and texture and making trips to brickyard. He did an outstanding job! We have a Williamsburg style all brick home that only a professional of Stinebaugh's Masonry could accomplish. We also had Eric and his staff repair our brick porch from the inside, as there were settlement cracks, shifting and broken bricks. The inside fireplace also needed some masonry work which again was completed and looks amazing. The Stinebaugh staff are polite and extremely knowledgeable. The work was completed on schedule, areas left neat and clean,we were treated with respect. I would describe Stinebaugh Masonry as competent, thorough, meticulous, and professional. It is a delight to work with a company that takes pride in their performance and puts forth the effort to be sure the customer is satisfied with the end result. We would highly recommend Stinebaugh Masonry and are definitely planning on using them again.
Description of Work: Had a leaking brick chimney( 2 other companies said "they fixed it") also needed repair work to inside of brick fireplace. We also had a water problem in basement from improperly installed windows. Rather than replacing the windows, we wanted all 8 of them removed and bricked in to match the outside of our home. We also had some settling of brick porch with cracked brick/mortar and a settlement crack to along garage door which needed to be repaired to match existing facade.

Eric is the best contractor we have ever worked with regardless of trade. After many disappointing experiences hiring contractors to perform work, I can say that Eric is different. The original quote was for porch repair and lintel replacement, and we got much more than that, while coming in well under the initial estimate (30% in our case -though this differs based on complexity of what they encounter). His pricing is based on time and material (find out his hourly rate). He does the job right and says up front that he is unsure of exactly how much time it will take to complete the job properly. I had the week off while the work was performed, and can tell you that he, Salvador and Sergio were constantly in motion. They hustle. He pays them well and they want to stay. Eric ain't cheap, but he is the best there is. He is highly communicative and will give you any status update you need. We are extremely happy with his work, and will absolutely hire again. Our house gleams!
Description of Work: Replace steel lintels over 6 windows on north side of house, rebuild corner of front porch, repoint mortar joints around entire house as needed, rebuild top 4 courses of brick on chimney, replace concrete on top of chimney and re-set chimney cap. Remove lags from around the house and replace/fill brick as needed. Remove old aluminum retractable awnings and fill holes/replace brick as needed. Eric and his crew replaced nearly 150 bricks around our 1927 brick house. Wash entire house with muriatic acid, cleanup site. Made many other small mortar repairs in cellar entryway. Oh, and make the work blend in so our old house looks refreshed. Said he could match brick and mortar and he delivered on all of his promises. Stinebaugh Masonry is the real deal in a world full of talk and shortcuts. Will post pics as soon as I can.

I can't speak to the quality of Jeff's work, since we ended up not hiring him, but he appeared to be a top-notch professional in every way, we appreciated his thorough and forthright approach, and we were easily comfortable enough with him to hire him had we had the budget.
Description of Work: Jeff came out to assess our masonry needs. He was punctual, courteous, thorough and professional in explaining what would need to be done and how he would go about doing it. His estimate appeared to be more than fair for the work called for, but we determined we didn't have the budget for such a project at that time.

My basement had brick spalling issues and I called 5 contractors from Angie's List. Eric was prompt and responsive in returning my call and setting up an appointment. Although his estimate was not the lowest, it was competitive with the lowest estimate I received. Due to the cold weather, Eric was able to fast track my basement repair. Eric was honest and timely in his communication. Eric made sure to check in daily to update me with the progress and to obtain my feedback on the work performed. Eric and his team did a great job on the basement brick wall repair. They were thorough in finding and replacing spalled bricks and did not take any shortcuts. Eric was conscientious about costs and were able to pass on some cost savings. Eric and his team worked on the project for 5 days while I was at work. Eric and his team were trustworthy and I was not at all worried about not being at home. When the work was finished, Eric and his team cleaned the basement and the first floor of the house before leaving the project. Eric stopped by the day after and followed up to ensure my expectations were met. I greatly appreciated the quality of Eric's work and his professionalism. I already have scheduled with Eric to work on another project in June.

Mr. Stinebaugh came out to my home to look at the repairs that were needed over my basement windows. House is a brick rancher built in 1957. I would highly recommnd him because of his years of experience and professional, personable character.

Everybody, if you're going to have masonry done you really should go to Eric Stinebaugh. Last summer he rebuilt brickwork, marble steps and repointed in and around my house. Over the harsh winter, I noticed the joints on my steps weren't holding up. I don't know if it was the weather or chemicals in my ice melting compounds, but that cement was really getting worn out by January. I mentioned it to Eric, and when he happened to be in my area on another job a few weeks later he came by and replaced those joints free of charge. He said he just didn't want anything with his name associated with it looking like that, and took care of it in an afternoon. I think that speaks volumes about his professionalism and dedication. He cares about the work he's doing for you. I can't say enough about Eric and his work.

The team was efficient and professional. It was a very messy job but they cleaned up well and my house looked great when they left. Eric was able to manage time and materials to keep the cost manageable, which was a priority for me. The quality of work is wonderful and I'm very happy with the end result.
Description of Work: I have an exposed brick wall in my master bedroom. When the wall was exposed by the previous owner, the brick was not restored and the wall was in poor shape. As a result, mice were entering my house. It was a nightmare. Eric and team rebuilt the entire wall. It was messy and a project that I dreaded, but they did a great job and the wall looks perfect. And no more mice coming through!

First let me say that I whole heartedly recommend Eric Stinebaugh. He knows what he is doing and was a complete professional during the entire process. The job took 8.5 days work days (Thursday through Tuesday). He and his crew showed up by 7am everyday and left after 3pm. One of my neighbors commented that "they showed up early, worked all day and left late." I am writing this a couple of months after he finished, and I am still completely happy with everything he did. I have received several compliments from various neighbors on the work he did. I have a 3 story edge row house in Baltimore City. There were numerous areas where the mortar was cracked. There was also a three foot high section of stucco along the side of the house which was deteriorating. I requested estimates from three highly rated masons. I found his bid competitive. I chose him because he was excited about the job and I liked the fact that the owner was doing the work (I have the impression that he has 1 other crew doing smaller masonry jobs.) He gave me a bid of $8-10K. The range was due to the fact that he would not know what was under the stucco until he took it down. Under the stucco we found the remnants of two basement windows, one that had been poorly bricked up with a wooden crossbeam remaining and one that had been cemented. There was also another section that was cemented. There were several areas of bad brick that had to be replaced. The stucco extended up to my first floor window sills which had metal flashing. After removing the stucco, we were able to to look under the flashing and found that the sills were wood that had completely deteriorated. I decided to have him rebuild the sills with brick. This was not part of the original estimate and explains the additional cost. I agreed to his proposal in August. His schedule was full at the time and he expected to get to the job in the winter/spring time frame. In early November, he called me to say that he had a cancellation and was I interested in him performing the job in November. I agreed. Eric and his crew were pleasant to deal with. They appeared to work well together. Eric is "excited" about his work, and it is a bit infectious. They cleaned up at the end of everyday. Eric took the time to understand what I wanted and made an effort to make sure that I was happy with all aspects of his work. This paid off in that I only have good impressions of the entire experience. I guess that my highest compliment is that I have a ton of 2nd and 3rd story windows who sills need replacing, and I plan to have Eric perform the job.
Description of Work: 1) Repoint bad areas on exterior of 3 story Baltimore Row house. 2) Remove 3 ft. high parging feature from side of house. Perform necessary repairs and completely repoint. 3) Replace sills of 5 windows
