Wilcox Electric LLC

This is the second time that I use Wilcox Electric for electrical work in a rental unit. They have always been very responsive and willing to communicate with my tenants and have made the whole process simple. Dale came to the unit this time and was on time and professional and the problem with the light fixture in the kitchen was solved immediately.

I had a beeping smoke detector (hard-wired with battery backup) that was unresponsive to a battery change. I called Wilcox Electric, which was scheduling appointments about a week out. When I asked if they could give me any tips on silencing the annoying beep in the meantime, they said that they try to address recalcitrant smoke detectors the same day. Although I called after 3:00, they sent a very nice electrician -- Nelson -- who was finishing up his last call. Nelson arrived by 5:00, swapped out six smoke detectors and took away the old ones for me.

They did a fine job. They pointed out the problem and made the repairs.

The team arrived on time every morning and left the work area neat and clean at the end of every day. My 1930s house has really thick plaster walls (they eat drill bits and saw blades for breakfast) but the team never complained. David and his helpers Jonathan and Tim did a great job minimizing dust and preserving the cutouts so we can patch the walls later. David kept my husband and I well-informed of the progress of the job and any issues that arose (because old houses are full of surprises). His communications were very clear, "Here is what I found, this is why it's a problem, and this is what we can do about it..." This was my third large job with Wilcox electric and they have always come in on time and on budget. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

Did the job well, on agreed terms. The electrician was also very personable and provided a very good analysis of the potential project we had in mind. Definitely would hire again.

I received multiple estimates for my project. I had a total of 11 recessed lights installed in my living and dining room. I really appreciated the person from Wilcox who met with me. He took the time to explain all the options and was the most knowledgeable and engaged of the people I met with, about what would work best specifically in my space. They were also within the average range of cost estimates that I received from the other companies I contacted, so given the thoroughness of the employee giving the estimate I chose Wilcox and paid a deposit and had them put me on the schedule. Unfortunately, the VERY DAY they were scheduled to perform the work, I received a call from the administrative office saying that they had messed up on my estimate and that the work to be performed would actually require more time and thus, money (nearly $1,000 more), than they had quoted me. They claimed it was due to an error on their end between the administrator and estimators notes. They apologized and offered $400 off the new and much more expensive cost of the job. I am disappointed that I can no longer trust this company, the bait and switch tactics were unprofessional. Calling me on the MORNING of the job was absolutely ridiculous, and at that point felt completely like a bait and switch. While I understand clerical errors occur, there was ample time to identify this issue prior to the day of. The proper thing to do would have been to suck it up and stick to the agreement, while solving their own in-house communications issues on their own time. They were also well within the range of all other estimates I received, so nothing stood out to me about the quote being oddly "cheap". Needless to say I did not end up using them. I have used them in the past for a kitchen project and they did good work. I have no reason to believe their capabilities as electricians are subpar, however their customer service is unfortunate and I will not be using them again.

Gando (technician) very efficiently reinstalled a ceiling light fixture, which had slipped from its base while removing the globe to replace burned out bulbs. Also The scheduling was seamless, couteous and quick. I will most definitely utilize Wilcox’ services should a need arise again!

AWESOME! EVERYONE at Wilcox Electric was extremely professional. Due to my condo management not making our electrical room available the Wilcox crew had to visit 3 times to get the job done and they were extremely patient and professional. David was exceptional! I called Wilcox because tenants in DC were having an electrical issue and I am now based in Boston. Wilcox made it so easy to work with them. They took my tenants' info so they could coordinate dates and time with them, communicated with me before hand and sent the invoice to me directly. Would definitely work with them again.

They did quick, quality work at a good price. I would definitely use them again.

The work started one day late but essentially finished on time. The job was very professionally executed, and the communication with Wilcox was very good throughout the work. The estimate was fair...no bargain, but not inordinately expensive either. One should expect to pay a fair price for work well done.

The were very professional and helpful. I had an appointment and called back to see if I could change it and then we're able to get someone to come out immediately. So the electrician called me and told me when he could come. The work was excellent and the electrician was extremely helpful!

Terribly! THIS COMPANY DID NOT SOLVE EITHER OF MY PROBLEMS, BUT MANAGED TO SPEND 90 MINUTES WANDERING AROUND MY HOUSE BEFORE CHARGING ME $255! I HAD TO CALL THEIR MANAGER TO ORDER THEM TO GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! For that $255 they: 1) put a manual switch (instead of replacing the automatic timer switch) on the exterior light, because they said the malfunctioning timer's replacement would need to be special ordered, requiring another expensive visit to install it. So I now have to call another company to fix the problem. 2) gave me an estimate of some $700 to replace the one faulty circuit breaker, which they told me they would take care of, if I wanted them to move forward. Needless to say, I refused. END RESULT - I NOW HAVE TO CALL ANOTHER COMPANY TO FIX MY SAME TWO PROBLEMS. BUT I AM $255 POORER. Even before all of that happened, or any work was done, it became clear that the company employees had not talked to each other about the job. It was confusion from the very start. Wilcox had insisted that I send them photos of the electrical panel with the faulty breaker, before they came out...which I did. But the guys who came out apparently didn't know anything about the photos. When I talked to them about the bad exterior light, they said it might be the light fixture itself, and I'd have to go out and buy one. They did NOT mention the possibility that the timer might need replacing, and so when that turned out to be the problem, they were totally unprepared to fix it. They sent two techs, when one would do. The second tech was obviously a trainee. They later told me they were doing me a favor by not charging me for his time. They announced upon arrival that "the job ticket" only allowed them to spend 90 minutes at my house, even though I had never been informed that there was a time limit for the job. There were apparently other things on the ticket that confused them which they had to discuss with the manager. I spoke to the manager twice by phone while the workers were at my house about the communication and performance problems. It did not help. After they finally acknowledged that they would not be able to fix either of my problems, the lead tech disappeared to his truck for some time. I finally had to call the manager again to tell him to get his men and their tools spread all over the place, out of my house! I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. BE WARNED.

I had used Wilcox for about 30 years and always find them reliable and willing to go the extra mile to take care of any electrical problems. Dale was scheduled for the afternoon, but called in the morning as he was available. It worked well for me, and he arrived exactly at the time we agreed on. He easily accomplished both tasks efficiently. I found him friendly. We had an interesting conversation before he departed. My only issue was I had to clean the floor below dimmer.

We used Wilcox Electric twice within the last 12 months. Both times the office staff was responsive and professional in scheduling service calls. David was the technician assigned both times. David is punctual, respectful, professional and proficient, He quickly identified causes of problems. We especially appreciated his patient explanation of problems.

The technician was very professional and patient, willing to explain the functioning of the motor and was knowledgeable enough to determine the problem was a broken seal. Saved me hundreds of dollars.

The work went very well, all according to plan. Overall, I found Wilcox to be incredibly responsive and easy to schedule on very short notice even. Specifically, David and Steven were punctual, professional, communicative throughout the process and did a fantastic job overall. I would definitely hire them again for any work we need done in the house.

I got a very good service from Wilcox Electric. I would like to commend in particular the electrician Mr Steve Smith for a good service. I would definitely recommend them.

Very well. Nelson was very efficient and clearly explained what he needed to do. He also provided us with valuable advice regarding other possible upgrades we might wish to make. Price was reasonable for the work performed.
