Our home inspection was performed by Barry Hoskins. He arrived as scheduled, introduced himself, outlined how the inspection would go (which areas first,next and last), encouraged to ask question (not that we had to be encouraged :-)) He was very thorough , detailed - no rush, answered all questions we had (regarding maintenance, age, possible repairs, made recommendations on what is the best way to handle particular issues . Even though he is not allowed to give any cost estimates, but he made it clear what are the most urgent or the most expensive problems to fix. Also small things can tell you a lot about somebody’s approach - I was very impressed on how careful and respectful he handled owner’s items if he needed to move something to gain access. We received full report next day with pictures, descriptions , specific and general recommendations. We would definitely recommend Barry and if we need to we will use his service again.

Went better than I could have imagined.

Barry arrived on time and gave us an overview of how he was going to conduct the home inspection. He began on the exterior and roof. Then we moved into the basement to inspect the systems and progressed upstairs to the main living areas, bedrooms, and lastly, the attic. He pointed out areas that needed repair and gave full explanations to the scope and nature of the areas of the house that needed attention. He was thorough and performed the work in an unhurried manner. The inspection report was complete with issues of safety, repair, and monitoring.

Every interaction was handled with professionalism and grace. The office manager/scheduler was excellent and the inspectors were through and prompt. Even the builder was impressed with the completeness and professionalism. The inspector identified a number of issues and the builder readily agreed with the items and fixed them, saving me and the builder expensive headaches later.

We were very satisfied, and would hire him again. He had another inspector in training with him, so we practically got two inspectors for the price of one. The report was very detailed and professional. If it had included pictures or digital images of the problem spots, it would have been absolutely perfect.

From the initial scheduling to the actual inspection, everyone I spoke with was extremely professional, courteous and nice. Rainey, the office manager was extremely helpful in scheduling my inspection. When the original person scheduled to conduct the inspection was unable to do it, Rainey worked out other arrangements with the owner, Rick, in order to honor the original commitment. The inspection was very smooth. Rick arrived, explained to me what the inspection would entail and conducted the walk-through. Throughout the inspection he pointed out notable issues, why they were important and options for addressing them. I received a full report the next day. Excellent service! I would definitely recommend Highland Home Inspections.

They were easy to schedule with, and they came out on time. They explained what they were going to do, and then proceeded to do the actual tests. The employee that came out was nice, and listened to my concerns. They sent me the results of their tests in an email in the time frame he had told me about.

They were great from the beginning. My husband sent an email Friday evening requesting their services. Rainy called us first thing on Monday morning. They were able to do the inspection on Monday afternoon. Not only was I impressed on how quickly they could perform the inspection but they were so professional through the entire process. Rick did a great job explaining everything that he was doing and how to fix the little things ourselves. The report was sent to us at 6:30 Tuesday morning! The report was professional and very well organized. I would highly recommend Highland Home Inspections.

The whole thing took about 2.5 hours in the afternoon, and a well-organized report was emailed to me the next morning before 9am. I was very satisfied and would recommend Highland to others.

It went great! They inspected the entire home and were very thorough. This is the was at least our sixth experience with home inspectors, and they were by far the best. They inspected everything, and explained everything to us as they went along. They were working for two and a half hours, and it was a very educational experience for us.

We specifically requested Barry Hoskins based on the Angie's List replies. Barry arrived promptly at the residence. We were first impressed by his attention to detail when he showed up with two pairs of shoes; an indoor pair and an outdoor pair. Barry introduced himself and explained in detail how the inspection would proceed. He told us to ask as many questions as we desired during the inspection. My husband followed Barry around the house like a hawk, and Barry explained everything and answered every question. Barry noted both major repairs needed as well as minor repairs that were not as time critical. After the inspection, Barry emailed a detail and thorough inspection report to us within 24 hours. We noted that one minor observation was omitted. We emailed Barry and within an hour he forwarded an addendum which included the missing observation. Barry was extremely professional and responsive. Outstanding job!

Rick Belliveau was going to pick up a radon test from the home we had just put a contract on. We called him prior to picking up the test and asked if he would do a mold test that day (Saturday). Rick gave us the estimate over the phone then proceeded to the house, picked up the radon test results and conducted a mold inspection. We had a completed report emailed to us within 48 hours. Rick was very professional.

Rick and his associate spent three hours inspecting the house from top to bottom. They took the time to describe how the plumbing, ductwork, etc. all worked to us, how to winterize our house, etc.

Very professional and did a relatively thorough job. They explained everything that was going on in the house.

Barry arrived a bit early was already inspecting the exterior part of the house when we arrived. I recommend following him has much during the inspection and taking notes. Though the report is very comprehensive, its useful to see for yourself the issues he finds and their location. The report contains an executive summary followed by more detailed descriptions. Each issue is categorized as either a major concern, safety issue, something to be corrected or something to be monitored. The only (minor) negative comment is that I think some of the report is cut-and-paste text. I say that because at the beginning of one of our sections is a summary which reads "upon testing, a normal temperature drop..." but that is contradicted directly below with a statement "The temperature drop measured... is lower than considered normal" Obviously, the summary text is boiler plate. A few weeks after the inspection, we e-mailed Barry a few questions about the house which he answered promptly.

I was fairly disappointed in the report he submitted to me, it appeared as though he used a form letter and changed a few details, on top of which the report contained false information including: what nice shape the driveway was in (the property has no driveway).

Barry showed up on time, was very knowledgeable, professional, and explained how the well and septic systems worked and the maintenance issues associated with each. This was very helpful since this is our first experience with these systems. Since this is a new construction house (from a quality builder) he didn't find any major issues. The items he did find were minor issues that were overlooked by the various subs, which left unchecked would have caused damage down the road. For example caulking that had shrunk around the windows leaving an opening for water damage, the underside of a bay window that was missed in the sealing process, etc. The whole process lasted a little over three hours and we received the report the next day. If nothing else the inspection gave us peace of mind in knowing that the house is solid and the builder is providing us with a quality home. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a thorough home inspection.

EXCELLENT. This was my first home inspection so I have nothing to compare it to. However, inspector Clint Bissell was very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. Detailed inspection of structure, roofing, plumbing, appliances, furnace/cooling and electrics were done. Received report the following day and he's available to answer any questions I may have. Also provided information on life expectancy of major appliances (water heater, furnace, A/C, roof shingles, etc) and their care.

Our realtor recommended Highland Home Inspections and Barry Hoskins specifically, because they said he's really thorough. They were right. We got a really thorough inspection of a 1986 townhome. It took a few hours, and got a very detailed printed report (many pages long) the next day. Barry answered our questions and pointed out several things in the house we'll want to improve in the future. A couple months later, we had a little water coming in through chimney and I emailed Barry to ask for recommendations on roof or chimney repair companies. Barry actually came out to the house again (without being asked to) free of charge to go on the roof and take a look at chimney, and to look around in the attic. It was a minor problem of some re-sealing needed to be done up there. He even took the time to answer some other questions I had about the house. I was really impressed!

Clint Bissell did our inspection. He was on time, and did a thorough job. He educated us along the way and pointed out things from large to small that we might want to have fixed and gave us referrals for several problems. Only problem was we tried contacting him a few months after the sale to ask a few questions, and he did not get back to us. He also did not tell us that our AC unit was 18 years old (we could have gotten some $$ for it off the price of our home) and the thing broke six weeks after we moved in.

The inspector was excellent. He spent several hours, was extremely thorough, and took time to offer explanations and details. Would definitely recommend and use again.

MR. BISSELL SCHEDULED OUR INSPECTION WITH WITHIN 48 HOURS OF OUR CALL. HE WAS THOROUGH IN HIS INSPECTION, AND REPORT. THE IMPROVEMENTS HE RECOMMENDED WERE NOT EXCESSIVE, BUT DID NEED ADDRESSED. OUR REALTOR SAID HE IS THE GUY YOU HATE TO SEE COMING IF YOU ARE THE SELLER OF THE HOUSE. IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG, HE WILL FIND IT.

I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY. THE INSPECTOR WAS THOROUGH, AND TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS. THE FULL INSPECTION REPORT WAS SENT TO ME WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE REPORT WAS EXTENSIVE AND COVERED EVERY ASPECT OF THE NEW HOME WE ARE BUYING, PROVIDING US WITH A COMPLETE PROSPECTUS OF WHAT WE WILL BE DEALING WITH NOW AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
