The movers showed up on time, they worked quickly and efficiently--they almost beat me to the new house by driving so fast. It was clear that they didn't want to waste a moment. When some shelving hardware from a bookcase went missing, our rep purchase new hardware that evening and dropped it off the next morning.
Description of Work: I was impressed that our representative actually came to address where we were moving and got a sense of how narrow the street was and what problems might arise. This was especially helpful after hearing that my next-door neighbor, who had moved in 4 months before, had a moving truck that was so large it couldn't fit in the street. She ended up having to rent a smaller van that had to ferry her household goods from a Kohl's parking lot to her residence.

Description of Work: Perry packed all of hanging clotles into wardrobe boxes on the moving date even thou gh the owner packed all of the other belongings. Perry's representative was most helpful in arranging for an earlier pickup and later delivery to accomidate our needs. Perry also provided packing boxes at no additional charge. The moving team was professional in placing pads and other packing materials to prevent damage to our furniture in packing and delivery. The packing and delivery team were both courteous and accomidating in assembling furniture and arranging it for us. It was an out of state move and the best and most efficient of the 6 out of state and in-state moves we have made.

Issue #1: On the day of the delivery, the Perry workers were plagued by bees emanating from the pods. There are no bees in this area before or since the delivery. Also, I noted while unpacking that candles were melted. By 8/13, I had become very ill and reported to Rich Perry that the boxes and other belongings reeked of mold. I was unable to work. Rich visited and sniffed a closet and said it only smelled like new paint and drywall. Becoming more ill, I hired a Certified Master Inspector to collect/analyze samples for $850. The toxin was identified as elevated levels of Stachybotrys. There is an extensive protocol for reparation involving the disposal of most items. The loss exceeds $40,000. In addition, the estimate from the reparation company is $9,000 and I am unable to live in my new house. (The CMI determined that the mold indeed is coming from the items in storage and not from the house.) I have missed a month of work (~$10,000) being diagnosed with extreme mold exposure. Perry is not helping nor is his insurance company responding. They have dragged me around and their insurance broker wrote the following, "Please do not email us any more there is nothing more we can do. You need to go through your insurance carrier (who does not cover this). In another email he wrote, "Again please do not email me!" I had a reasonable expectation that they would return my items in a livable condition that would not make my house uninhabitable and me severely ill. Lab/medical reports are available. Issue #2: When the workers came to pick up the furniture on 3/26, one of them asked me to sign an "Addendum to Storage Contract", stating that I would agree to Arbitrate and Dispute and indemnify Perry against court costs and attorney fees. He threatened to not move me if I didn't sign it, and I was obligated to be out of my house that week. I called their office and told them I would not sign it. Rich Perry arrived at the end of the move and also tried to get me to sign the form. I did not. He asked me to send it in after I was settled in my temporary quarters. I told him it was unfair for him to ask me to sign such a document at the moment I was most vulnerable. We had agreed to our contract weeks ahead of time. Issue #3: I changed the date of the arrival of the furniture to 9 AM on Saturday 7/21/12. I bought donuts for the workers and anticipated their arrival. By 11 AM, I called Rich Perry who told me I was on the schedule for Monday. Showing up two days late was a great inconvenience and I had to take time off work to accommodate them. I do not have a dispute with items #2 and #3, but I want to point out that every aspect of this move was unacceptable.) Additional 9/13/2012: I have provided over 50 pages of documents. Including an analysis report from Certified Lab that identified that toxin Stachybotrys (Toxic Black Mold) and another a protocol for reparation which is a document to assess exactly how to clean this toxin from my house. Update: I sent the following email to Rich Perry, President of PM&S yesterday (10/10/12) at 11:45 AM and have not heard a response. Rich, I assume you are in possession of all correspondence/documents that have passed between me and Hanover?s agents over the past weeks. There is the matter of non-?goods? items to attend to and it looks like it will have to be resolved directly between your company and me since your insurance company stated they have no liability other than the goods. These costs include: Professional reparation of my house due to contamination from the items that were in your storage facility - $9,000.Medical.Loss of income.CMI and lab reports, further testing.Cleaning equipment purchased to try to make my house livable. Unless you wish to discuss how to resolve this portion of my claim, I am going to pursue action against you for these items and any portion of my claim with Hanover that they do not cover, as that information becomes available. The need for reparation is immediate, as I am still suffering from symptoms of exposure. The removal of affected property and my efforts to clean my house have definitely helped, but not totally eradicated the problem. I need professional help. Please let me know if you wish to discuss this, otherwise I will pursue action.
Description of Work: I hired Perry to pick up, store my furniture and other items, and deliver them to my new house from 3/26-7/21/12. I paid the following fees: Pick Up: $1,135 Storage: $840 (3 months x 280 each, 1 was included at no charge) Delivery: $1,080 TOTAL: $3,300 Perry provided a great deal of "free" used boxes and I also purchased new boxes in excellent condition from Home Depot. I packed the boxes and Perry's movers wrapped the furniture in plastic. They loaded the furniture into a large moving truck, and told me they would unload it on the dock inside their warehouse, transfer everything to pods, and store them inside their climate-controlled warehouse.

Dear Angie’s List Members, I am responding to this complaint to let you know this is libelous and completely not true. Member has not provided any evidence of mold contamination that has resulted from our handling of her household goods. See the attached pictures that show boxes in good condition. We invite anyone who reads this to come and tour our facility and see for your self the high standards we require. We are a DOD approved facility are subject to frequent inspections from the SDDC and Fort Belvior. We have not had a facility deficiency in any category and have the records on file to prove it. From the start of the move Member did not want to sign an agreement to arbitration if we had a dispute. We are required to offer arbitration as a means to resolve disputes to our customers as part of being a registered Maryland Mover. Please feel free to contact the Maryland Trucking Association / Movers Council if you are interested in more information MDMOVERS.ORG . We have been doing business in Maryland for 12 years and have never had a customer take us to court or even need to hire a lawyer for that matter. I was present at the loading of Member's goods and because she was difficult through the process I made my self available to deliver her goods on Monday the 23 of July. Member had my email and cell # and was contacting me to make all arrangements for her move. She was concerned about cost and did not want to pay additional for work to be done on Saturday or Sunday she scheduled her delivery on Monday. At no time did she contact me to change the date. When I asked her who she changed the delivery date with she could not say and was not sure. We do a confirmation on all jobs and called Member three days prior to her move and left her a message that we planned to deliver at 9am on Monday. She did admit that she received the message and did not pay attention to the date or time. We tried to accommodate her and help regardless if it was our fault so we called the crew in at 6 am to get her delivery done early so she could keep her plans for Monday. Upon arrival on delivery day Member was waiting for us in the driveway. We used our equipment to deliver the storage containers right in the driveway within 20 feet of the front door. Member spent the morning directing traffic and checking off her inventory. Most boxes were delivered in the basement and garage. Member was inside the containers helping identify furniture and telling us where to put it, at no time did Member mention an odor. She inspected each piece as it entered the house and directed us where to put it. There was no evidence of a bad smell or moisture of any kind. Member thinks because there were 2-3 bees around the containers it means there is mold. I live in the area and Bees are common especially in this area that is adjacent to the county landfill. After unloading the storage items we spent an hour rearranging furniture and helping her get situated. We reconciled the inventory and made sure everything was accounted for. At no time was there an odor or did anything have evidence of moisture or mold. Three days later Member called and stated we broke the washer and demanded I fix it. I arrived to inspect the washer that we did not install and the leveling foot was not down so I simply adjusted the foot and leveled the washer. She also had me move several boxes from the bedroom to the closet and to the garage. I took 30 flat boxes she had unpacked. At no time was there any mention of these odor problems and I saw no evidence of these issues. I did notice there were several boxes not moved by Perry throughout the house. These were stored in a friend of Member's basement not at our facility. Three weeks after delivery Member contacts me to say she has a bad smell coming primarily from her boxes. When I arrived to inspect the boxes they were in the garage opened and had no odor or evidence of moisture or mold.(See Attached Pictures) As I walked through the house I was taking pictures of the alleged mold issues and Member asked me to leave. After several harassing emails and her not allowing us to inspect or offering any evidence. I turned it over to my insurance company. We recommended she do the same. If there is a mold problem in Member's home it was not caused by Perry Moving. It is unfortunate that her insurance does not cover it but that does not make it Perry Moving's responsibility. Perry Moving has contacted council to asses a libel and slander suit regarding these claims. This is a malicious review that is simply not true. I encourage Angie's List members to see what our other satisfied customers have to say. We invite all potential customers to tour our facility and see the high standards we have for caring for our customers possessions. We have turned the resolution of this matter to our insurance company and sugested to her, do the same.

It went as smoothly as moving can go.
Description of Work: We hired Perry to pack and move us after we got 3 estimates. Perry's estimator came to our home and did a walk-through and submitted the most detailed estimate. On Thursday, August 16th a team of three guys came out. They walked through with us asking questions and then proceeded, mostly unsupervised, to pack everything for the move. They even marked the boxes. The next day, a different team of guys came out, walked us through any special concerns, then moved everything from our three story cape-cod to our new ranch, 2 miles away. Everyone was personable without being intrusive. Extremely professional crews.

The movers arrived prior to the actual scheduled time and rolled out sheeting ove rthe carpets and covered the wood flooring. They went methodicall from room to room and ensured nothing was missed. Each item was checked off prior to loading on the truck. At the destination all items were unwrapped and positioned in the correct room. The boxes were taken prior to their departure.

The team from Perry Movers arrived on time. Each member introduced himself. They asked for a tour of the home and began work. They worked diligently and with care. Nothing was broken, no walls were damaged. They brought a team of 5 people with 2 trucks, which was perfect for our move. After everything was packed in the trucks, we did an inspection of the home to make sure they got everything. After arriving in the new home, they asked for a tour there and where everything would be placed. All boxes and furniture was placed correctly in the new home. Again, nothing was broken and no walls were damaged. They did an awesome job!

Everything went better than anticipated. We moved from a very small 2-story. The movers did unfortunately damage a wall in trying to get a very large piece of furniture thru a very narrow accessway, but they immediately had someone come repair the damage. We could not have asked for better service. The movers were very attentive to our needs and listened to our concerns and desires. The moving personnel worked hard the entire time. As a result, the final cost was lower than the estimated cost. We highly recommend them!

I thought they were a bit over priced. I was unable to finish packing what I wanted to pack, so they helped me do to make sure everything was done. I think the hourly rate is high, but that's my opinion. They were there when they said they would be and did a fine job packing my stuff. The head of the crew spent too much time on his cell phone dealing with personal business, leaving the other two to do most of the work. Overall I was satisfied with the job they did, it just cost me $400 more then I thought it would.

I contacted Perry Moving because they came highly recommended by Angie's List and personally. I was told that one of the Perry brothers would come out to my home at an appointed time. The office called back to tell me it would be the other Perry brother that would make the appointment. In the end it was actually another person who came. Diana arrived on May 4, 2011 and went through our home and filled out a form estimating all the furniture, containers needed, and weight. I asked to schedule the move for June 20, 2011. A few days later I was told they could not make that move. Then I received a phone call that there was a miscommunication in the office. They thought my move was for May. I hadn't moved in 30 years and was not familiar with the process. There was no schedule of packing or loading, to my knowledge. Everything was scheduled for June 20th. I wasn't told of any pre-packing and understood it would all be done the same day. Thursday before the move I received a phone call that packers would be coming on Friday. There were 2 packers who arrived on Friday and worked for about 6 hours. They said they would not be returning because they were going on vacation. Saturday morning 1 packer showed up and worked for about 8 hours. There was a lot of packing left to be done before the move. The movers and I ended up finishing the packing. When the movers drove up on Monday morning they shouted from the truck that I had to move my car from the driveway. It was parked to the side of the driveway and was not in the way. I asked why it needed to be removed and was told it would cost more money because they would have to walk farther. The car was removed and the truck remained in the road. The movers were good about moving some problematic pieces. After everything was loaded from the house, I drove my car and they followed me to the storage unit. There was not much in the storage unit and it didn't take them long to store everything on 2 trucks until Wednesday morning. The elevator was reserved for them and moved us in to the 2 bedroom condo and storage garage. I was presented with a bill which was definitely more than the estimate. I later realized it was 25% more than the estimate. In unpacking boxes I found that many were unlabeled. There were broken items and scratches on furniture. Overall the communication and cost of the move were not satisfactory. I discovered that movers overbook during this high season and it was apparent in my move that they were short staffed. Perhaps my expectations were too high for such a highly recommended company.
Description of Work: They were hired to move us from a 4 bedroom house, storage unit, and store all on 2 trucks for a day. Then move the items stored on the trucks into a 2 bedroom condo and storage garage. The move was about 5 miles.

The four guys who came were courteous and diligent about blanketing and/or wrapping all of the furniture, including several antiques. It was an incredibly hot day (95+ degrees) and these guys worked non-stop, only taking short water breaks. They unloaded our things just as efficiently as they loaded them and always asked where something should go if it was unlabeled. Scheduling the estimate visit and the actual move date was easy and their price was comparable to other quotes we got. Would definitely use them again.

From the moment we got the estimate from Steve in Maryland , to the moment the movers left our home in Florida, everything went extremely smoothly. The price we were given was "all inclusive" and there were no additional fees for additional weight or packing or hourly charges that some of the other movers were charging for. As mentioned, Steve kindly brought me additional boxes as needed and came back the week of the move to make sure I was prepared and ready to go. The movers on both sides of the transfer were very hard workers and were extremely professional. They seemed to have a good rapport with each other and worked seamlessly together. Once in Florida, the new crew of movers was just as nice and hard working and professional as the original crew. They helped to hook up things for us and even offered some pointers as we were installing a new mailbox on the property. From beginning to end, this was a smooth transition. I would HIGHLY recommend Perry Moving & Storage to anyone looking for a hassle free moving experience.
Description of Work: We moved from a 3 story, 3300 square foot house in Baltimore to a 1900 square foot single story house in Boca Raton, FL. After a major purge of 20 years of accumulated "stuff", Perry Moving came to our house and spent the entire day loading up the tractor trailer to head down to Florida. They helped me pack up some of the larger items such as artwork and televisions and mirrors, etc. at no extra charge. Even though I had purchased moving supplies online from a used box company, their salesman continued to bring me additional boxes whenever I needed them. He just dropped them off on my porch so they were readily available. The truck was loaded and stored over the weekend for the crew to drive it down to South Florida and be unloaded it on Tuesday of the following week. Once there, they met up with the local crew and unloaded the truck and put together all of the furniture that had been disassembled for transport. It took the entire day and they worked tirelessly in the Florida heat to get the job done.

I called for a moving estimate in December, which was promptly provided. I arranged for packers in late February. They arrived on time, ready to work. They were efficient and got the work done in the time they said it would take. The following day, they moved my goods into a semi-truck for moving half way across the country. Because packing had gone so well the previous day, the loading was quick and painless. Two ot the crew drove the truck to my new destination. In addition, they arranged for my shipment to arrive when I requested it, as I needed a delay of a couple of days. When my shipment arrived at my new home, the two-man crew remained until everything that I requested had been completed. They were polite, professional and very, very experience. They were completely accurate with the manifest they prepared and everything I shipped arrived in great condition. Nothing broken at all.
Description of Work: Imoved from the Washington, D.C. area to Arkansas. Perry Movers provided an accurate, complete estimate, sent fabulous packers who did the best packing job I have ever had, and then then next day sent a moving crew to get me out of my place. Two of the same movers who packed me out also drove the van to my new home and unloaded me. One of the movers was with from packing day to unloading day. All of the crew were professional, curteous, knowledgeable and very, very professional. I have moved overseas, across country and across the city and this was the best experience I have had with a moving company by far. I would definitely hire Perry again.

I wish there was a rating above "A" - that's how good they all were. Dave on the phone was professional and courteous, Diana was like my personal guardian angel - very knowledgeable and kind, and all the packers & movers were wonderful (Kenny, Tonya, Doug, Eric, Nelson, and Joey - I hope I got everyone's name right). We wanted to move as soon as possible, and they were able to work us into their schedule so we could move quickly. There was a lot of work for my move - a long day of packing & another long day to move; so I feel the price was better than reasonable (I have paid more and gotten less from other companies). My house looked like something out of the tv show "Hoarders" but everyone was professional, efficient, friendly and compassionate. It was complicated by the fact that we were splitting two households, but there were no problems, only solutions. I have had some very bad experiences with other movers (one was a national chain) and this has been a very stressful year for my family so I was dreading dealing with the move. But the comradery and skill of the workers made everything easy for me. In addition to the outstanding service we received, they were kind to my ten-year-old daughter, who like all kids, has a knack for being underfoot. (They didn't miss a beat, even when she was "attacking" them with her toy alligator!). All in all, they turned something I was apprehensive about into a surprisingly pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Packed up and moved a ton of stuff - especially books and bookcases.

They were all professional and friendly. From the person on the phone to who delivered the things. They were careful, everything arrived and was not damaged. I would used them again. There were a couple of heavy large pieces that I don't think anyone else was able to maneuver to get them into the home. They really took their time.

The men showed up on time and got right to work. I was most impressed with the pace they started and thought "we'll see how they do in a few hours" I was amazed - They kept the pace up ALL DAY - so much that the estimated 11 hour move was reduced to 9 hours - a significant savings. I don't want to focus solely on speed, because along with that, they used the utmost care as they picked up, moved and setup everything. whether it was a small chair or our large upright piano, the item was set gently in place. We had most items already boxed, but they covered all the furniture in individual blankets as they moved it. I cannot say how much I was impressed. The team was polite, courteous and went the extra mile in everything they did. I manage a business and I know what good workers look like and these men were exceptional. I don't give out recommendations too freely, but I have no reservations about recommending this company. If you are moving, this is the outfit to use.

They arrived at the house where there were items to be packed and moved to the new house. They were very professional, friendly, and efficient. They packed up items that were still remaining to be packed, they moved furniture and boxes to new house and unpacked all. They also unpacked two large PODS of stuff. They worked hard and steady the entire time with a friendly attitude. They put everything where I asked them to put it - which was great because at the time I was seeing a physical therapist for my back and couldn't help at all. It was a long day and they stayed professional and worked hard throughout. I would use this company again.
