Perry Moving & Storage

We used them 7 years ago. Can't speak to their current operation, but our experience in 2007 was less than satisfactory. Scratched the dining room table and had to cell the owner to get resolution. Likewise, after completing the move, I was presented with a bill that was considerably higher than the estimate. I have not recommended them since.

The evaluator came and gave me an estimate of that was within $100 dollars of the actual cost. The wrapping crew and the loading team worked so well together. They did a marvelous job. The day after they left, I called them and asked them to return and pick up some items I neglected to have them take. They came out and picked up the items during the fourth of July weekend. They got them on the truck and then left for Florida.

They did a really good job. The whole process was very good. The sent 6 movers and 2 trucks to help with move. The movers were all very nice and polite. They got the job done in about 10 hours.

It was slightly challenging pinning them down for a date of delivery, which I'm to understand this is the norm in this business. The responsiveness was a little slow when inquiring and I kept hearing about "how busy there were", which, for the record, people who are using your business for an important long-distance move, don't want to hear. But they did deliver on time and on the day they 'wouldn't promise' to deliver on. From the estimate to the day of moving to delivery, the crew did a fabulous job. James and Reggie and crew were amazing and worked really hard, despite the heat. The crew in Baltimore showed up ready to work hard and were prepared with their own drinks, etc. and worked quickly to get everything loaded. Unfortunately, they underestimated the amount of stuff we had and had to call and second smaller truck to load a few more pieces on and so we were a little concerned the second truck wouldn't deliver until several days (or who knows when) after the first truck - and the second truck had all our mattresses. But they were able to squeeze all the extra stuff on to the original truck and deliver on schedule. We were shocked and very happily surprised they fit it all in (they ended up strapping the extras to the back, outside the truck - but it worked!!). We were very happy with them and would definitely use them again. This is the second time we've used Perry and both times the estimate they provided were mark on with the actual price.

Very well. Movers were on time & friendly, very polite. Worked hard & quickly. So for only a few minor scrapes which will easily be fixed. A very good experience.

Sam came out to give us a quote for moving and storage. He took an inventory of everything that the movers will be putting into storage. He then gave us a detailed quote. We are moving this weekend--I will provide an update afterwords.

They were here last week, a couple days ago. It was very detailed. They took inventory of the house. In a walk through , I told them what was staying and what was going, they gave me an estimate based on the inventory of the house. This included what it would cost for packing services. I have a four bedroom house. I got three separate estimates and they are all in the neighborhood of seven to ten thousand dollars. He was right on time. He explained to me the different options for moving. The estimates seemed to have all of the details that I needed to make a decision. I haven't had a chance to view the three estimates that I had.

Everything went very well. Packing was done in one day, and two trucks were loaded. One went directly to the storage facility, and the other went to Perry's headquarters for deliveries in Towson the next day. The condo has restrictions on when movers can take things in and out, so the deliveries had to wait until the next day to allow the movers to be able to start in the morning and finish in early afternoon. Then they delivered the items to our daughter's house. Items destined for Florida were stored for about a month until they could be delivered in Florida on May 29. Perry handled all of this themselves, requiring no transfer to a long distance mover. We paid the fee of $120 per month for storage. Everything was done efficiently, professionally, and very politely. We had only one small bit of damage that Perry repaired very well. it was the front of a file cabinet drawer that detached from the door, probably due to weak glue holding it on. It was a relatively inexpensive oak cabinet that we had for many years. Perry's repair made it better than it was when it was new. Other than that, there was no damage and no loss. One of the things that we liked best was that all the people involved with packing and moving were Perry employees. They don't use pick-up day laborers, and you could tell this by the professionalism and familiarity among all the people involved. We've made many moves, both in the US and between the US and Europe and the UK, and Perry is definitely a world class mover. European companies are noted for their professionalism, and Perry is easily equal or better than them. If you need a mover in the Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD area, we would certainly recommend them.

Eddie and Chris were awesome for my move. They showed up at the time they said. They laid down mats to protect my floors. They wrapped my furniture and everything went perfectly. It goes to show that finding a company on Angie's List is great when you spend the time to read the reviews. The estimate was perfect. The owner took the time on the phone to figure out exactly what I needed so I could get the best price.

This was an outstanding experience from first contact through the final piece of furniture placement in the new home. We actually employed Perry Moving on two separate occasions, moving the contents of a temporary apartment in Laurel, Maryland and then the move from New Jersey down to Maryland about a month later. Needless to say, the initial experience warranted the second engagement. The administrative side (e.g., arranging the details, estimated cost and contract) were handled perfectly with one phone call and in record time (minutes). Follow-up calls and e-mails to confirm times and dates were very efficient and professional, projecting exactly the confidence that one wants to encounter with this type of service. We always felt like we were speaking with people who understood the drama associated with a move, and were making every effort to ensure that we were comfortable and at ease with the process. The actual moves were a case study in how to do it right -- simply could not have gone better. The first crew, Vernon and Darrell, were excellent and accomplished the local move in under four hours. Not a single scratch, with each piece wrapped prior to movement, and meticulous care as they were transported down two flights of stairs. Also great conversation, by the way, which is one of those bonuses that make you look back on the experience and realize the exceptional performance. These are just great people, and that comes across in how they approach the task at hand. The second move was a two-day event, with packing and transport on the first day and unloading on the morning of the second day. Another outstanding crew, with Bobby, Kyle and Laurel, and the same professionalism and confidence. This was a larger job and included a couple of beastly pieces that had to be moved. The crowning achievement was a cherry Eurocave wine cabinet with built-in refrigeration, weighing in at an impressive 300 lbs. Absolutely no problem, up a flight of stairs and not a scratch. Really an impressive effort, deserving of every accolade in the book, and the same easy style and conversational approach to the job. The overall summary is that this organization really "gets it" from beginning to end. They are service-oriented, understand the trauma surrounding the moving experience, and take extraordinary care in rounding out the potential hard edges for you. We would recommend them without reservation to anyone, and intend to use them again for our final move later this year.

The entire process went very well. The entire crew was very professional and efficient. All were careful about damage to the house as well as the items as they were moved. It was clear they took pride in their work. Items were tracked properly and carefully. This was phase 1 of our future move (to prepare for the showing of our house to potential buyers). We will definitely be using them for the larger part of our move.
