Description of Work: I sent an email which was never returned. Two weeks later I then called and received a call two days later where the person took my information only to receive an emailing stating that they aren't taking any clients in my area. This is all fine but if my intial email had been answered I could have moved on. Also they should clearly state the areas in which they cover.

Description of Work: The work was done in 2010. |The service had cleaned a friend's flowerbeds which looked very nice. No weeds. When the crew cleaned my beds, they were not meticulous. I used the service because they advertised green methods, not chemicals manual removal of weeds. Within three weeks, the weeds were back. Obviously, I paid too much. (By that time, my friend's beds were covered in weeds.) NOTE: I did not contact Lauren to report the problem (I had medical issues to deal with), but neither did she follow up with me. In this instance, I paid for not following my standards, but not again. If the service doesn't deliver as promised, I will not settle for less.

Description of Work: Cleaned up shrubbery beds, removing some old plants. Selected and planted new shrubs and other plants according to plan drawn up by Lauren. Mulched beds and redid small patio including cleaning moss off patio blocks. |This company was a pleasure to deal with. They were all efficient and hardworking, and we are extremely happy with the results.

Description of Work: This is the second time I have had Lauren and her crew come in to work in my yard and garden. They were as professional, responsible, and knowledgeable as the first time. I had them clean up my garden (my entire front yard) and get it ready for winter. They also cut back some plants in my back yard and weeded the weeds that had accumulated on our back border. We live on a Columbia pathway and these weeds are highly invasive and difficult to get rid of. They did a great job. After the main work was finished they hauled away all the garden detritus and cleaned up yard, garden, & driveway. Lauren always come over to do some of the work, and to make sure her crew is meeting her very high standards. I plan to use her garden service again - spring 2013.

Description of Work: Called Lauren and recieved a call back the next day. We set an appointment for her to come out which she did. The project is for my wife and she and Lauren did the walk around. My wife was told she would work up a drawing for which we were willing to pay for, BUT.....weeks later have not heard from her. My wife called last week, left a message for her and still no response. I get the impression that she is choosing her jobs by the size and maybe we are not big enough for her. Regardless, she should have at least contacted us and politely declined!

+ -1 moreLauren came highly recommended from a friend, so when I was ready to deal with the front and back yards of our townhouse, I called her. After we had discussed the job on the phone, she came out to see the space and take measurements. We talked at length about possibilities. When she completed a plan for both gardens, she came over to discuss it; and she had photographs of the plants she wanted to use. She also described what she would be doing to enhance the soil [read, Maryland clay]. The front yard went very quickly, but after using white stone in a drainage area, she agreed that white was all wrong. Her crew took out the white and replaced it with black river rock. The back yard included digging out several old shrubs and all of the grass and weeds; the team that worked on that part worked diligently at really hard work. The plan called for a pathway and small stone walls lining the path. The team, including Lauren, broke up the stones to create a curving dry wall. When I didn't like the curve of the pathway, they rearranged the stones to fit my ideas. I was impressed with Lauren's crew; I felt confident that each person knew exactly what was required and could do it without supervision. When the work was done, Lauren came back to be sure it was what we wanted and that we were satisfied. She returned mid-summer to see how things were doing during the drought; one bush in the front yard had died, and Lauren replaced it when cooler weather arrived. I don't think that a bush in the backyard is going to make it, but I know that come spring Lauren will replace it with no hesitation. Lauren and her crews are hard workers and easy to get along with. I have already recommended her to friends and neighbors, and I would eagerly hire her if I needed other work done.
Description of Work: We live in a townhouse with small front and back yards. I wanted to completely eliminate grass and create gardens comprising mostly perennials. The front yard is in deep shade most of the spring and summer, and the back has gone from full sun to partial sun/shade. Lauren came highly recommended from a friend, and so I called her. We first talked on the phone about the yards and what I wanted. Lauren listened well; she was willing to listen to my ideas before telling me her thoughts. When she came out to see the property and take measurements, she also brought materials to show me what she had in mind. I had about 2 dozen plants that had been rescued from a major excavation in the front yard, and she carefully included them in the plans.The work also included major clean-up in the back yard, and all of the debris was cleared out at the end of the day. Lauren gave me personal attention throughout the planning and execution. Her work is guaranteed for a year, and she uses hardy, healthy plants that are appropriate for location and sun, can survive the climate in this area, and require a minimum of maintenance. In mid-summer, Lauren came out to see how things were doing in the drought, and in early fall she returned to replace a shrub that had not survived. I know that I can call her with questions about the gardens at any time.

+ -1 moreLauren responded within 24 hours to the voice message I left. We arranged an onsite walkthru and she gave me an estimate immediately. I was pleased that she had a degree in horticulture and knew all my plants so felt confident in her understanding of what the yard needed. The work was started on the day designated, held up by 2 days of rain which she called and informed me on hearing the 24 hour weather report. The crew returned the next day after the rain stopped and finished the job. There was one small shrub they were unable to transplant without high probability of loss, she called me and explained. The bill was ready on time as estimated. I would gladly use her again and have referred her services to others.
Description of Work: My yard had been slowly getting ahead of me over the past 4 years. Lauren's Garden Service crew trimmed overgrown corner border of 5 Burning Bushes, trimmed up overhanging willow branches, cleaned and edged all bedding (3 areas) and border areas (about 50 feet by 80 feet) front and back of house and around deck, removed 2 ancient overgrown Forsythias, removed 1 large dead lilac and 3 other small shrubs. Cleaned up all debris and mulched the areas edged (6 yards mulch). Work was completed in 3 days. Cleanup was spotless.

+ -1 moreWe were very happy with the price and the work. The price was about 40% less than another quote we had done, but I believe the other quote probably included quite a few more plants. Overall, very happy with the work. Just be sure that the price includes enough plants to get your flowerbed to the density / thickness that you want.
Description of Work: Our existing flowerbed in the backyard was completely redone. Existing bushes were removed, and all new plants were installed.

Lauren advised us what needed to be done to prepare the landscape for winter, provided a free estimate, and completed the work quickly. She and her crew worked fast, but thoroughly. The place looks great! We chose her because of her knowledge about plants and commitment to organic, environmentally friendly gardening with no chemicals. She was pleasant and professional throughout the process, and returned every call quickly. She and her crew even cleaned up items that were left behind by a different company that had done a project on the house. She is also working out a natural design to enhance the rest of the yard.
Description of Work: Winterized lawn, including: pruned bushes, weeded yard, removed leaves, had mulch delivered, spread mulch, started compost pile, removed unwanted small trees; provided advice on how to care for a variety of plants/bushes and provided free estimates on 4 more projects.
