Mid-Atlantic Deck & Fence Co

While shopping for a new fence for our rear yard, we obtained quotes from 3 different companies found via Angie's List. Mid-Atlantic Deck and Fence had the best price AND offered the best product. We loved that their product came with a warranty. Initially, setting up the estimate was easy and quick. Dave Yost came out to provide the estimate and answer all questions we had. When we decided to hire Mid-Atlantic, Dave came back out to our property and answered some further questions. Due to our HOA approval process, we needed more detailed documentation. Dave provided this information in a timely manner. The product was ready for install within a week, which was quicker than the HOA approval process! The installation crew made some minor adjustments to the fence layout because of the gas and power lines that run in the same area. Installation was completed within a few hours. The only complaint I have is that the crew some dirt laying in our yard from the areas that were dug out for the posts, which we had to clean up. So far, there have been no problems or complaints with the fence!

Our fence had sustained some water damage and Steve returned my call promptly and arranged for an estimate. He was very professional and we felt like the cost was reasonable so we signed up. The only issue we had with the company was some confusion on installation time, suddenly they just showed up and we had wanted to clear some plants away from the fence to save them, but it all worked out. The majority of the crew didn't really speak English and I had question about which boards they were replacing but a quick call to the office settled that. They were done quickly with a minimum of disruption to my gardens so we were satisfied customers.

They were efficient and effective in terms of building the deck. Nevertheless, on three occasions, even before the main job was started, I requested an additional estimation to add a small fence in front of the house for hiding ugly electrical and gas connections, but they never responded. They would not walk the extra-mile, perhaps because the additional job was insignificant in terms of cost. To be fair, my contact-person did have a personal problem during that period. However, nobody within the company would take responsibility to concerning my inquire even after I spoke with another one of their representatives about that matter. They ended up ignoring it altogether.

Jon the estimator was very patient and helpful while we zeroed in on the fenced area and worked up estimates. Once we had a signed work order and deposit, it took a few weeks to actually get the work scheduled. The crew arrived on time and seemed to enjoy working together. They seemed to have a little trouble determining the best way to water-proof the posts on site, but sorted things out without too much fuss. Only one of the four workers seemed to want to cut corners, and the others kept him in line. On the second day the crew chief came back to install the gates, he was efficient, knowledgeable and good at his job.

They arrived on time and got right to work. They listened to my concerns with the rear fence and a tree that was against the old fence and made a slight adjustment to account for this issue. They removed all the old fence and posts. The also did an excellent job replacing my driveway gate. The price that was quoted in the estimate was the final price even with having to make several slight changes and adjustments. All round exceptional job.

Our complaint: I am more than disappointed with the response we got from Mr. Ryan Keegan for an appointment we had for noon today. I was slightly late from dropping my daughter off to school so I got back at 12:05. My wife, who is wheelchair bound had gotten stuck trying to get to the door and noted that he arrived at 10 of and left promptly at 12. When I called him at 12:10 at the latest he tells me that your company has no interest in the job since there are so many trees in the way. He did not reconsider when I told him I was going to get them down and I still wanted an estimate. He does not even know where I want the fence and what tree impacts are there. Very annoying that he knows more than I do about what is going on in my yard. Company's response: Thanks for the heads up I will speak to Ryan regarding this matter. Good luck with the project. From the salesman to the crew, the detail was included all along the project. Several plans were submitted to fit my budget and more important my liking. Again, the crew was very professional, neat, clean and did terrific work.

I called a number of contractors up for appointments to get an estimate for replacing our fence and Mid Atlantic was one of the few that kept their appointment. Steve was very friendly and professional and even explained some differences of the different types of materials for me and we were sent the estimate the very next day (a Saturday). The only reasons we didn't choose Mid Atlantic Deck and Fence were that they could not start right away and their estimate for the work we wanted was higher than the contractor we ended up choosing. Overall, a very good experience though!

Jon from Mid-Atlantic was on-time for the estimate, and provided a written estimate within three days. We did the work in conjunction with our next door neighbors. Once we agreed on the work, the install was scheduled within three weeks. The installers did a great job, and the new fence looks great! The work crew removed the old fence, and left the yard clean of all debris. We hghly recommend Mid-Atlantic!

The company responded promptly to our on-line request. We needed a fence because we had inherited a dog but really had no idea which style or material to use. They worked with us to decide on a fence that would serve the intended purpose but still look attractive. After we had decided the installation date was within a week. The crew assigned to the job showed up exactly on time and were very professional. They finished the job in one day and the crew leader walked me around the installation to verify we were happy with every aspect. I would definitely recommend the company and would use them again.

The company responded to my call for an estimate promptly and arrived on time. The salesman (Ryan Keegan) was professional and courteous. He took his time, walked the property with me, and discussed options. We liked the fact that Mid-Atlantic is local, family owned, and that they fabricate their own materials. The work started on the date picked. Because of rain, the project took a bit longer than planned; but, someone came every day in between rain to continue the job. On the first day, the crew (led by Mr. Carlos Martinez) worked twelve hours taking down the old fence (two types of fencing), putting up the new fence, and practically finishing the project in one day. Darkness stopped the work. The next day there was heavy rain in the morning hours. However, after the rain stopped Carlos returned solo and worked until 8:15 PM. He returned on the third day (again alone) to do the finishing work. I cannot praise Mr. Carlos Martinez enough. His courteous demeanor, positive attitude (always with a smile), attention to detail, and dedication are the best I have encountered by any contractor coming to our house. Carlos' ability to work long and hard is remarkable. Mid-Atlantic Deck and Fencing are truly fortunate to have him on their team. We were fortunate that Carlos was assigned to our project. The fence is finished and to our specifications. It looks wonderful. We would absolutely recommend Mid-Atlantic Deck and Fencing.

Chris came out to do an initial estimate. We were uneasy about the quality of the fences that we were looking at from other retailers because we have a very large dog. Though our dog understands boundaries, he is very excitable and pretty clumsy so we wanted something that he would not be able to chew through and would be tall enough that he wouldn't be able to jump over it. We also discussed the size of the gates, as we own motorcycles and wanted to make sure we could get them from the shed where they are stored out into the front where our main street is, as the back exit has steps. When Chris and another member of the team came out, they measured the yard and talked to us about what we were looking for in a fence. We discussed the large shed that we have in the back and how we needed the fence to line up with the shed so that the dog would not be able to get through it. We also discussed the size of the dog and what we would need to do to keep him in. Chris brought a catalog and talked about our best options. We ended up with commercial grade fencing that was 4 feet tall. Initially, we wanted white, but after talking to Chris, we decided on black so that it would blend in. A week later, our service was scheduled. Two men came out, were very polite and completed the work in about half of a day. They were professional and courteous (as dog and I were coming and going because we couldn't let him run in the yard). They even had to dig up some uneven ground to make sure that the fence was level. They put grass seed and hay down when they were done. A supervisor even came to check on the work as it was being completed. About two weeks later, we received a phone call just to make sure that everything was settling well and that it was working out for us. The fence that we bought has a lifetime guarantee. It's been almost a year (with a cold, wet winter) and our fence still looks as great as the day that they installed it. There is no rusting at all, the fence closes perfectly every time and the grass has grown back where they leveled the ground. We couldn't be more pleased. It was a great value and I feel much more comfortable that a professional did the work. We couldn't have even priced it out as well at a DIY store where we would have had to do it.

The job went very well. The installers worked hard throughout the day to finish the job and paid attention to clean up all the mess. We are very happy with the work and the fence.

.Mid-Atlantic Deck & Fence was very patient with waiting on our HOA to give approval and honored the estimate they had given us 3 months prior to signing the contract. We liked how the representative listened to our needs and helped us with our selection accordingly. Installation was originally scheduled on a Tuesday but was rained out. On Wednesday, the crew was right on time and stayed to finish the job - 11 hours with a short break for lunch. They cleaned up very well and were very respectful. The fence is beautiful and our dogs love having their space.

Frank from Mid-Atlantic quickly responded to my request for a quote, came out to our home at a convenient time for me, measured, carefully went over our options, and promised a quote within a few days. He called the next day with the total price and then dropped off the contract for review a few days later. The contract clearly detailed the project, including decking material, color, size and spacing of joists, size and number of support beams, and warranty details. After a deposit, Jeremy and his assistant removed most of the old deck in a day and in spite of cold weather and rain, made rapid progress over the next several days. During the project, both Frank and Jeremy were easy to contact with questions and very responsive to our concerns, including repositioning a footer that interfered with a doorway. The entire project was completed in less than two weeks and we are very happy with the results.

Awesome, they were not only the lowest price, but they used cedar instead of pine. the cedar looks great, will last longer and smells awesome right now. Everything was done on time clean and beyond expectations. They even asked me where to put the extra dirt from digging out the holes and i had not even thought of that yet. but they put it exactly where i wanted and completed it perfectly.

I initially contacted Mid-Atlantic about installing a fence around our backyard. They responded immediately to my online inquiry. Mike Schenck was an excellent project manager. My wife and I were a little wary about what it would cost, how long it would take, and what would be involved. Mike did a great job addressing our concerns, and really made us feel confident that Mid-Atlantic was the right choice for the project. Based on his professionalism, we ended up asking him about building a deck as well (a project we weren't planning on doing until the following year). We were impressed with the estimates and design plans, and wound up having them build both a 380' long cedar picket fence and a 12' x 20' deck with vinyl railings and Vekadeck flooring. Mid-Atlantic took care of all the permits and made the entire process incredibly easy. The builders for both the fence and deck projects were incredibly skilled and paid attention to the smallest details I wouldn't have even noticed. They took a lot of pride in their work and were enthusiastic about showing me some of the finer points of their craftsmanship at various stages of each project. They even made a few design suggestions that they felt would look better with our house/yard (nothing that changed the overall scope of the project or the price). I deferred to their experience and was glad I did. The results are truly fantastic. Our fence was built just before Thanksgiving, and our deck just before Christmas. Our only other concern was having our yard be a construction site over the holidays when we were having lots of guests over. This turned out to be a non-issue. The fence was completed over 2 days, and the deck in about 4.5 (with some weather interruptions). It was amazing how quickly they worked. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Mid-Atlantic Deck and Fence Co.

The website of this company on Angie's List indicates that they give free estimates for their work. They do not. They charge $50 to give an estimate, which is nonrefundable if you do not use them as the contractor. You must pay the $50 before they look at the job and give you any idea of what service they would perform and the range of the cost. Misrepresenting the estimate process on Angie's List is misleading and should be corrected.

Chris came out within the week that I called and took measurements. He called the following week and we made an appointment for him to come out and discuss what type of fence I wanted. Initially I wanted wrought iron/aluminum - I thought I wanted white but then I got to thinking about having to clean it everytime my husband cut grass or got mud on it so I changed my mind. Then i went with the black or dark color with the driveway gates and so Chris went back to his office and wrote me up another estimate with the changes. Well the $1800.00 drive way gate kind of put a damper on that type of fence and since we live in a wooded area I decided to go with what we had and that was the split rail fence and there went Chris again for another change and he was so cordial about it all. And the fence was put up on Jan 4, 2013 and the installers were terrific - completed in one day about 400 feet with drive way gates I am very pleased with the out come and I would diffently call Atlantic Deck & Fence again !!

Very responsive! I e-mailed through their website and got a call back that day. The sales rep came out to our house about 4 days later to look at what we need and had pricing for me later that day. He was back (at 7:00 that night after travelling to us from Laurel) within days to review and sign the contract. He consulted us on how the deck would be built, how it would look and what we needed to do to prepare. They work with BB&T on financing, so it was easy to finance some of the work at a 0% interest rate, which made it better. The permit was handled within 10 days and they were ready to come out to work. The deck looks great and is very sturdy/well built. We had a few issues after the work was done, but they were very responsive in fixing the issues and making sure we were happy. Chris, the salesman, is great to work with.

I got their name from Angie's List. I got three estimate on the fence, they were not the lowest but they were close to the lowest. I went with them because of the thoroughness of the man who came to give the estimate. I felt like he tried to anticipate everything I would need to know about the fence more than the other people who gave estimates. The fence slats were put in a distance that I wanted apart which is a little bit different than their standard. They were willing to make that adjustment. The fence looks absolutely beautiful . I have had people comment on it. They were very competitively priced. They also did the work quickly and on time. They got it all done in one day. Everything was just right.

They were very professional and easy to work with. Chris was great in providing the estimate and following through. Their pricing was less than all of the other estimates I received for this project.

We went out and got 4 different estimates and Mid-Atlantic was the best, so along with good reviews off of Angie's List, we went ahead with them. They were able to squeeze us in pretty quickly because we were considered a small one-day project. They showed up exactly when they said they would, and set to work right away on installing our driveway and walkthrough gates - which were pretty tricky because they had to bore through the concrete and old poles that were in place from the previously installed driveway gate that was inexplicably cut off at the base by the previous owners. While a few of them worked on that, my husband walked one of them over to the chain link fence on the side of the house to show them where we had 4 baby robins in a nest in a rosebush that was partially growing through the old fence. These workers were so cute with that - they did everything they could to avoid disturbing that nest! They cut the old fence out by cutting around this bush and then ended up having to place one of the posts for the new fence directly under this bush - it was so entertaining and so cute to watch them doing it while keeping one eye on these baby robins. The overall project ended up taking them a day and a half - not due to the robins, but because the old posts were so thick and well set that they couldn't dig them out and had to cut them off with a reciprocating saw below the surface - but each post ate through more than one saw blade! Ultimately the job was completed, and it looks fantastic. We are so glad with the project and have enjoyed the new fence all summer - especially our dog who can now be let out the side door now that we have a nice new driveway gate in place!
