Rui went above and beyond in completing the work and with follow up to any of our questions and concerns.

The team was great to work with my back patio. The team came in and power washed the stairs and patio. VRN team was very detail in working with the stones and slate in repairing 40 years of mortar. I received three different quotes and VRN was the best value and incredible service. I will use them again next year on a stone retaining wall that needs repair. You cannot go wrong in using VRN!

It was handled fantastically from start to finish. A reasonable price and extremely flexible in their handling of the job. Rui spent a lot of extra time making sure all the old paint on the porch was removed properly so the flagstone would adhere properly and last a long time. He and his dad did most of the job and were pleasant and professional throughout. And the end result was amazing - looks fantastic. Nothing but praise for their work, their honesty and the results.

VRN did an excellent and thorough job. The work was performed over two days. The first day removing cracked grout and cleaning the bricks. Day two putting in new grout. Even though the old grout was 15 years old, VRN did an excellent job matching the color.

Rui and his team were great to deal with. They were communicative, prompt, and thorough. Their work appears to be well done, and they answered all questions. I've recommended them to a couple of friends already. Little pricier than other bids we received, but I felt like they were being transparent with me, and they came back to do touch-up work with no problem.

From beginning to end, VRN Masonry was a pleasure to work with! Rui was quick to respond when setting up our estimate meeting and this continued throughout the project. Work began earlier than expected which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, the weather did not want to cooperate for several weeks which delayed the project but Rui gave us updates for when him and his team could come by to work. Near the end of the project, they even came out on a Sunday to avoid more bad weather that was predicted for the week. Everything is complete now and we could not be happier! VRN Masonry did a fantastic job and I greatly appreciated his responsiveness and receptiveness.

They arrived to do the work unannounced and left a brace on the steps for days without returning to take it off until we contacted them and asked them to. The steps were loose when they finished and the new cement that they laid was cracking. We asked them to fix this and they refused, claiming that it wasn't because of their work.

They did a great job. In addition to quality work, they were very punctual, responsive and friendly. It was a great experience all around, and we would highly recommend them.

Excellent work. Came out and provided an estimate on a Sunday and came by a few days later and completed the job quickly and professionally. Very honest and hard-working father and son team. They did not try to over-sell me; they simply fixed the problems I had mentioned. They gave me a ballpark estimate to replace my steps, which I will need to do sometime later. I will definitely use them again when the time comes to replace the steps.

VRN masonry did a really nice job on my steps. They were crumbling and had become a safety hazard. They gave me an estimate and got me on the schedule. They were polite, professional and did beautiful work. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

It was great. Not only did we get a beautiful patio, but with the grading VRN did, we no longer have rain pooling on the patio. We could not be any happier. VRN was friendly, responsive, and professional. We love our patio and have used it with pleasure all summer. I would happily recommend them.

VRN did a GREAT job in rebuilding our walkway for several key reasons. First, they started when they said they would and ended when they said they would (entire job took about a week and a half). They cleaned up after themselves daily, and replaced torn sod to our lawn caused by their small digger (a necessary part of removing the old walkway). They gave us the lowest bid by far to replace our walkway (the closest bid to theirs was still $1700 higher than VRN's bid, and two bids were over $2K more than VRN's bid!); and, they didn't start the work and then tell us later that they incurred additional costs, like some contractors out there do. Most importantly, the finished product looks really great. Our neighbors continue to mention to us how great our walkway now looks. We'd definitely use them again and recommend their work!

We couldn't be happier with the new wall, it is rock solid and beautiful. Rui and his team built in right and didn't cut any corners. I would highly recommend VRN Masonry to any of our family or friends. He does excellent work and his prices were very fair and reasonable.

We were very impressed with the work done by VRN. They were professional. Responded promptly to all correspondence. There were some delays due to weather, but nothing out of the ordinary. The walkway & front stoop are beautiful.

Rui came by the house late one evening to look at the work we needed done. He suggested that patching the work would be just as good as replacing the brick and a lot cheaper. He quoted us for a patch job as well as replacing the bricks. We opted for replacing the bricks. When we agreed on the job, Rui let us know that he would be able to fit us in within the next few weeks. A week and a half later, Rui called us on Wednesday night to let us know that a space had just opened up for the next day and whether we were interested. I quickly juggled my schedule so that I was able to be home. He arrived promptly at 8am as promised. Took a couple brick samples to match up with the new bricks. His team (family operated business) showed up later with their supplies to begin cutting out the existing bricks. The next day they worked all day and completed the job. They did a great job. The bricks look identical and you could only tell work was done if you look closely at the mortar. I was impressed how well it all matched up. When reviewing their work, I wanted one more brick to be treated, which they did promptly. Overall, very professional, polite, and great quality. I was pleased to have been able to contract them for this work.

They called Miss Utility and had the ground marked for the utility wire locations. They showed up as scheduled on a Thursday, removed the rotting wood beams. Each afternoon when they left, they covered the open area with tough plastic to keep things from washing away during thunderstorms. They came back each weekday, rebuilt the support structure, replaced all of the border wood beams, leveled the slates and power-washed the entire patio. They had to temporarily remove part of a fence in order to reach all of the wood beams that needed to be replaced, but they put the fence back carefully and neatly. They came back and filled in the places between the slates that had been dirt (which was power washed away) with light gravel. They finished up, neatening the dirt that had been moved around, including on my neighbor's side of the fence, on the following Thursday afternoon. They moved my patio furniture back into my preferred positions and I told them it looks as if I have a completely new patio!

Rui and his family are very professional and friendly and aim to provide the best service. He came promptly to provide an estimate, The quote was more than reasonable, I thought, for the work they were to do. They started fairly soon after contract signature. From watching what they did, that wall is never going to fall apart. Quite solid! Had block behind, then concrete, then facing stone. Topped with a stone cap for sitting (Rui's idea). There are drainage holes to allow the rain thru the ground. It did take a bit to complete the wall, but it rained quite a lot during the time they were working. I had one small fussy thing about the finished wall that was just my personal preference - they took care of it immediately, no problem! I definitely would use them again. They even gave me a bottle of Portuguese wine upon completion! Thinking of doing my front walkway when I can afford it.

It went really well, the price was good the work looks great and they were really easy to work with. I will use them again for my next cement or stone job.

Don't waste your time with this guy. I waited for Vrn to do work on 3 separate weekend days and despite their promise to show up they never did. Discourteous and unprofessional.

Rui and his brother are very responsive and professional, I would recommend them to anyone looking for masonry work.

Mr. Palmiero was called on 12/29/2014 at 1:13PM to come out to our house to do an estimate to re point and re-mortar some brickwork on a load bearing wall in the attic on our property. Mr. Palmiero called back on his cell phone on 12/29/2014 at 5:29PM and promised to appear at our house on December 31, 2014 at 8:00AM. Mr. Palmiero FAILED TO APPEAR as promised to look at the brickwork and provide an estimate. He did not call me to tell me he was running late. He failed to appear without explanation. My wireless phone does keep a written record of all incoming and outgoing calls plus their duration.

Overall, they did a good job. The steps weren't completely level, but considering that there were large tree roots underneath, they did pretty well. They were very responsive to the questions that I raised and communicated well throughout the process.
