VRN-Masonry -not a mason 12 years ago, VRN Masonry performed a fabulous job of building a flagstone floor in my backyard. It needed to be redone. This time it is shockingly awful. 1. New mortar much darker, and sloppy, excess mortar wasn’t removed. 2. Not all bad mortar was replaced. Terrible, terrible job. I requested that he perform a proper job, in order to be paid. He didn’t even bother to reply, or to show up. Not a mason, not a professional, not a decent human being. Stay away from him, not worth a phone call or email.

Project finished ahead of schedule at a fair price. Solid work that will hold together for many years.

As always, weather has an impact. The end result is very nice and my husband and I really like it. I would hire this company again.

Excellent. We have worked three times with VRN in the last eleven years, and their work, care, professionalism, skill, and artistry cannot be beat. When they come to our home to do their work, we are always assured of top quality, good communication, punctuality and efficiency. This is a rare small family-run business of 28 years in their skill, good ideas, craftsmanship, knowledge of their field, and wide experience. We can't praise them enough.

Concerned that our 2 story condo might need brick repointing, I offered to provide VRN with some pics in advance. Upon receipt of the pics, they replied that "the grout seems to be fine." I insisted on a more thorough estimate, if only to have a pro confirm this on the record for my HOA. A week passed without response. When I followed up, I was asked for video. Concerned that video would be too big an attachment, I asked why the 5 pictures I'd already sent weren't sufficient. They followed by asking how many stories the building was--something I'd provided in my very first correspondence. (This is all recorded in Angie's List's messaging service.) Upon pointing this out, I was told that they only handle one story homes. To be clear: my dissatisfaction has little to do with the job being outside their scope. It has everything to do with communication. Enough info was provided in my first reply to close the conversation, and yet it took a week of my persistence to get a definitive response. It leaves me suspicious whether their refusal really had to do with the size of my building, versus not like my "attitude?" Guess I'll never know.

The service was provided exactly how the contract had promised. The workmanship was excellent. I appreciated the professionalism and availability of the owner. There was constant communication about service dates and times and estimates for completion were right on target.

Very well. I highly recommend his services.

It went well. During the course of the installation, we worked together to iron some aspects out and the crew was very responsive. The porch looks great.

Rui Palmeiro met me at the house and we discuss the work. That was 2 weeks ago and after 4 attempts to contact him about his proposal, I have moved on and am no longer interested in his estimate. If his work is like his response for a proposal, he work would be less than satisfactory. I have gotten 2 other proposals .

They did a very good job and I will have them back again.

VRN Masonry repaired our patio, repaired the block supporting our garage wall, and poured concrete to fill in under our front porch. They responded quickly and meet our need to get the work done quickly. The quality of the work is very good. We are pleased with the work they did--it certainly met our needs. They also cleaned up well when the work was completed.

The job went well. There were some issues with the supplier. They sent the wrong pavers and we had to reorder. That was beyond VRN's control. Once everything arrived the job went smoothly and quickly.

great! the plan was to repair the bottom step and secure the railing, but Rui also patched another problem spot on the staircase and filled a hole where the railing entered the top of the staircase to further secure it, without any additional cost. job was done promptly and well. would highly recommend.

The work was completed in a timely and professional manner. Old stones were removed and the work site was cleaned up. The price was fair and the final product excellent.

This company understood that we didn't want a complete replacement of all the cement, and they were willing to do a partial repair. It looks fine, and they were very pleasant to deal with.

It went fairly well with the exception of rain delays.

I had gotten about 4 estimates for this job and VRN was about in the middle price-wise. I read all the reviews and was impressed with VRN so I decided to choose them for the job. The one thing I wanted to emphasis was the slant in the front yard so there wouldn't be any standing puddles when it rained, and the height of the last flagstone to be level with the existing sidewalk. The work was completed in a timely manner and I think they did a great job. I just love my front porch and yard. As today's thunderstorm, hail, and heavy rain fell, I constantly looked out my front door. The rain just ran right down the yard and there were no puddles at all. I am very pleased with the job and I would hire them again and highly recommend them.

Rui was really responsive and came back a few times to make sure I was satisfied. The flagstone path is BEAUTIFUL.

After years of neglect, the walkway leading to our house was in pretty bad shape with lots of loose mortar and even missing chunks. Rui and his crew took care of everything for a good price. They began with a power wash, and I was amazed at what a difference that alone made. Our old gray walkway was suddenly bright and tan. Then they replaced the loose mortar, securing all of the flagstone. The walkway looks great. I especially appreciated Rui's professionalism. The job was delayed due to a spell of bad weather, but Rui kept me informed and let me know he'd be on the job as soon as the sun came out -- and he was.

I cannot say enough of how well this local, family owned business performed. They could have tried to push a much bigger rebuild job but did not. They showed up just a few days after we agreed to the work and completed is it in about three days. Every day, Nelson stopped by to check on progress and discuss with us how things were going. The porch looks like new. VRN is a great team and I recommend them for anyone looking for porch or paver walkway repairs.

I decided to use somebody else. Everything was fine. They were quick and responsive. We just had the landscaper do the whole thing.

Work went well. We insisted to get flagstones in a range of color (as requested from the outset) rather than uniformly grey stones Contractor had in stock. Work was interrupted briefly because Contractor had a vehicle breakdown but this was no issue for us.
