Excellent company. Jose responded to my request promptly and provided a fair estimate of the work. He was very professional. We sought two other quotes, and Deckmaster was the most reasonable. They also scheduled and completed the work within 3 weeks of signing the contract- there was no long wait. It took about 3 days to do everything. The crew was very professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They arrived on time and worked late into the day in 90 degree weather. I was very impressed and have already recommended them to several neighbors. I would definitely use them again. I am very happy that I checked on Angie's list and found them. I can't say enough good things about them.

Did good job, on time and kept in touch by phone. Only issue I have is their price...initially wanted $1250 for their "best" restoration package, I had a price quote from Henry's Housework for $850 which they matched, no questions asked. So I would recommend shopping around then ask them to price match because while their work was excellent, nobody should have to pay $1250!!! Some nails were not hammered down as promised which is why I gave a B for quality

The crew was on time. They cleaned the titles and sealed them. They also cleaned my tv room carpet. They whole process was several hours. They removed all the dirt. My older tiled kitchen looked very bad. Now looks very good. I am very impressed with the results. They suggested depending on the traffic I should clean and seal them once a year... I will definitely use them again.

I got several estimates for the deck refinishing project--Deckmaster's estimate was right on par with the others but I was much more impressed with their demonstration and the process they described. In addition, I was interested in their upkeep plan for reduced maintenance costs in the future. The guys arrived on schedule both visits and worked extremely hard. A few minor details brought them back a third time and every last detail was completed to our satisfaction. Working with Victoria in the office for scheduling was also convenient both by phone and by email. The siding washing seemed like a gentler version of power washing and was less expensive than our other estimates and it looks great. I highly recommend the Deckmaster process and company.

Great experience. I strongly recommend these guys. The owner came out for the inspection, explained all the options and verified that their chemical treatment would remove the existing (and badly self-applied) stain. We elected their middle package and selected a light oak stain. We shouldn't need deck treatment for another 3-4 years. I came home on the agreed-to day to find the deck completely stripped and cleaner than I'd seen it since the day it was built. The treatment even removed some lumber-yard markings we hadn't been able to sand away. A week later the crew visited a second time to apply the stain. A thoroughly professional job. They masked all surfaces and I haven't found stain anywhere it shouldn't be. Per their claim I saw no damage to flowers even though I have beds on two sides of the deck. In addition to the refinnishing they fabricated and installed latticework around the bottom of an elevated portion of the deck and stained three removable benches that were built at the same time as the deck. Great job.

They were really good. I would say they were wonderful. They were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and clean. They were efficient and I didn't have any problems whatsoever with them. I would have them again. The price was pretty average.

Recommended company. The whole process took two whole days. I was very impressed on the thoroughness and the workmanship from this company. We had used another company years ago and they did a terrible job. I am glad I went with Deckmaster they redeemed my faith that there really are good companies still out there that care about workmanship.

They were very professional and they keep up with the deck maintenance well. For deck maintenance, they have to make sure the wood is dry for two days before they do the stain removal, and they never pushed that. It was really important that they would do high quality work for us and I was happy when they did a demo for us.

We chose them in large part because of their Angie's List ratings, as well as an ad in a mailer. We were not disappointed. Their service is unique, as they do not power wash. They recommended their high-end package, as the deck needed some repairs. They showed up as promised, working when we were not at home. They replaced all of our headers and railings, cleaned the deck and then came back to put the finish on. The deck looks beautiful.

They did a great job. They communicated well and were on time. They were not the lowest cost, but the service you receive makes it worth it.

Originally, we planned simply to replace the damaged boards on our existing deck. But Deckmaster then offere us a good price for doing the entire deck, and we accepted. We are very glad we took their advice.

Everything went very well. They were very punctual and efficient, and did exactly what they said they would do, with the desired result.

I called Deckmaster based on Angie?s list recommendations. The first available appointment for an estimator was about two weeks out. The estimator (Fernando) came out on time as agreed and was very professional. He took measurements (900 SF), did a test cleaning, and gave us literature to review on the Deckmaster process options. They have 3 cleaning packages available. We chose the ?restore? option which is the most expensive and opted for an upgraded stain which lasts longer. It involves completing the necessary wood repairs, stripping the old dark stain, sanding all horizontal surfaces, and hammering down raised nails. The work was scheduled for about 3 weeks later. Our deck is over 25 years old, needed some wood repaired (damaged bench and step) and a dark brown oil based stain removed that had been on the deck for approximately 5- 6 years that we didn?t like. The pictures below show the color before (dark brown), after the cleaning process (natural color), and after the sanding and sealing (redwood stain). Normally, the work is done in two phases; the cleaning and repair phase, and then sanding and sealing. In our case it took three days due to weather delays. On the first day, rain forced the two man crew to stop early and they had to come back the following day to complete the cleaning phase. Deckmaster kept us informed about scheduling, but, be prepared for weather delays which they obviously can?t control. The sanding and sealing was competed about 4 days after the cleaning phase due to more rain. For good measure it rained again for 3 days straight after the sealing was completed. The crews were respectful of our property and protected the landscaping with plastic during cleaning and used shields and masking to protect the house and landscaping during sealing. There was a problem with the stain due to the extensive rain, but, Deckmaster came back and re-did the stain. We were amazed at the results. Our deck looks great and has not looked this good since new. Virtually all of the dark stain was removed and the wood restored to a natural color and then stained with redwood stain (which helps mask some imperfections). The deck boards and rail caps feel smooth to the touch. We are very pleased with the results, highly recommend Deckmaster and are believers in their low pressure cleaning process-we should have been doing this years ago. Short of replacing all of the wood surfaces we can?t imagine our deck could be any nicer especially considering its age. These guys know what they are doing and are very pleasant to deal with!

Overall, it was a very good experience. The serviceman that came out for a quote was very friendly and professional. He showed me, on my deck, how their cleaners worked and I was very impressed. My grey deck was actually a nice natural wood color under all the damage. I scheduled them to come out in early May (about 3 weeks later - that was the earliest they had availability). They warned me that if there was a greater than 30% chance of rain, they would have to cancel. Fortunately, both days were clear and they came out at their scheduled time. They did a great job of cleaning the deck and it looks fantastic now - almost brand new. My one complaint, they said they were going to put up something in between my house and my neighbors (I live in an attached townhome) so their cleaning and stain would not get on her deck. They failed to do so and unfortunately my neighbor was sprayed with stain while she was on her deck. Luckily, the stain came off of her and her clothes fine, but I thought it was unfortunate that their otherwise flawless performance was marred by this. The service was relatively pricey - almost $2000 for my deck, porch under the deck, stairs, and fence. However, it was going to cost $900 to have that same area powerwashed. Considering this service did less damage and included sanding and staining, I think it was worth it. Plus, under their maintenance plan, they will come out in 3 years and repeat the entire service for 1/2 price.

Overall the job was very well done. Jose, the company rep, was responsive and on top of the job, easy to work with. Gus, the lead contractor on site, was outstanding. Professional, courteous, and a pleasure to work with - not only did I feel that way, but neighbors who had the chance to talk to him in the course of the day had similar words of praise for him. Bottom line, we're very pleased with our new deck and with the people who handled the work, from management through the guys on site, but ESPECIALLY the guys on site. I can't see you going wrong with this company.

They immediately scheduled a date for estimate. Fernando who handles their project management showed up and was extremely courteous. Explained what they do, the price options, and finish options. He wasn't pushy at all and took the time to make sure I understood what they can do. Also helped understand what was worth while in fixing on my deck (some of the boards are warped but not that bad). Performed all measurements and provided an accurate quote right then and there. He really took the time to explain the different sealant/finish options and helped us pick one that would best fit what we were after. The work to be performed was scheduled for the following week (two separate days: one for sanding and cleaning and two days later to do the sealant application - we chose the sanding as our deck had splinters). On the first day, they came and sanded down the boards, rails, etc and drove nails down that were sticking out. They did a really good job to clean up after themselves. On the next service day, they came and applied the sealant. It was exactly what was shown to me during the estimate. Our deck came out PERFECT!!!!! Deckmasters is a little on the expensive side but they do an excellent job well worth while.

Everything turned out well. They did exactly what they said they would do. There was a problem, but they came back and corrected it.

We first hired another company to repair our deck. They promised to power wash, replace damaged boards, strip, sand, make minor repairs and stain the deck. However, when thay had finished, they had not sanded nor replaced the damaged boards, nor made any repairs. In fact, their power wash actually damaged more boards. We stopped them and a friend recommended we join Angie's List to find a good deck repair firm. We did and found DeckMaster who promptly came and finished the job properly.

They had good follow up and worked until we were satisfied. We had to keep checking with them about a date when it was not raining, but most of it was not their fault.

Initial appointment with a technical person who explained their service and gave me an estimate went fine. He was very professional, and I expected to be pleased with the project, but all went downhill after that. At the time of the estimate, I was told that the job would be scheduled in 4 weeks' time. When the scheduled day arrived, I contacted the company (note, they did not contact me) to confirm the date, but was told that, due to weather, things would be delayed. Okay, I understood that rainy weather would delay things, but the office staff was unable to tell me even vaguely when I might expect to be re-scheduled. These delays went on for WEEKS, and in every case, I had to call them about once a week, only to be told that it still would take more time. This continued to be the case even after the rainy weather of June changed to dry weather with no rain. Finally, 10 weeks after the initial appointment, and 6 weeks after the project was first scheduled, the work was done. However, with still more delay. I knew that it would be a 2-day project (one to do the deck repairs and cleaning, the second to apply the finish). The first part was done, but another rainy day occurred immediately, meaning that the second finishing step couldn't be done. I understood that problem, but for reasons that were not explained, instead of returning on the next dry weather day, it took another 3 working days for the crew to return to complete the job. No explanation was given as to why a project like mine that was interrupted wasn't scheduled for the very next available day, but other jobs intervened. Overall, the quality of the work, once it was completed, was satisfactory, but dealing with the company was so frustrating that I would not recommend Deckmaster to others. I recognize that this is the type of work that is weather-sensitive, but even so, the company should be better able to make reasonable estimates of schedule, and its staff needs to improve its customer service. Time after time, the only response that I got to my calls was "Sorry," with promise to call me back with more information. I never received such a call. Ironically, after the job was done, the office staff called 3 times in 4 days to remind me to send a check for the balance due. In the end, I got what I paid for, but because of the aggravation, I paid too much.

The final product looks good but it was very difficult to schedule partially due to the weather. We were scheduled then rescheduled at least four times for the initial cleaning and it took much longer than I expected it would to get an estimate. The work was done efficiently and the workers were professional. They used a board to guard against potential damage to our garden and, impressively, no damage was done to a single flower or plant. Carlos, in particular, was very courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable.

The work was done expertly and carefully and the deck looks new again. We are very pleased with their service and will use them in the future. I highly recommend Deck Master.

This deck was built using the new pressure treatment standards, i.e., the wood for the support columns and the rails had been treated with copper, instead of arsenic (according to the original contractor). The stain (resembling an off-white paint) began to peel within 6 months. The original contractor delayed fixing the problem (pointing to a clause in the contract that said they weren't responsible because no one in the industry knew how stain would adhere to the new pressure treatment), but finally re-stained. Actually, they did nothing more than stain over what was there. Consequently, it began to peel again in a few months. This time there was no negotiation - no fix allowed. DeckMaster assessed the situation and recommended a light sanding and scraping of the peeling paint and then re-stain. Pointing out that a full power wash to remove the existing stain would be cost prohibitive. We accepted them to perform the work. The job appeared to be more extensive than they anticipated, so the two guys had to come back to finish. We had several delays due to rain, but DeckMaster always communicated well and we weren't required to be at home for the work to be done. The job looked so great (and we were so busy) that we didn't do a proper careful inspection until a week later. We noticed a few unstained areas on the step rails and called to schedule a return visit. Again, no problem. Communication with the DeckMaster foreman and scheduler were excellent.
