Estimator came and reviewed our deck. Our deck was installed in March of this year so it's in great shape. Offered end of season discount of 10%. Amanda called the day we were scheduled to say the crew was not going to be able to get to us due to traffic. Rescheduled for 11/22 as we did not have any plans. 2 men arrived in a clean DeckMasters truck #5. One spoke English well enough to communicate with. The other person must not have spoken English or perhaps didn't wish to interact with us. They went about the cleaning process in a very organized fashion. I was disappointed that they had attempted to bring the truck on to the lawn without asking. They created 2 deep ruts in the lawn and where the wheels were spinning, tore up the turf. It was not until they were leaving that I asked them about the ruts. It was only then that they admitted the damage. If I would not have seen the damage (by not being home) and asked them about it I'm sure they thought they would have gotten away with the damage to the lawn. I called the office and Amanda thought they should wait until Spring to re-seed. I informed her that I wanted the ruts filled with top soil, grass seed and straw put down immediately. I requested that they bring those materials with them to repair the damage when they return to seal the deck. I did send images of the damage to Amanda for her reference. They were to return on Saturday 11/24 to complete the sealing process. At 8:30a.m. Amanda called to say the weather was not acceptable, too windy. I totally agree with that call. Rescheduled for Monday 11/26. Upon return on 11/26 the deck was 'sealed'. I was not home but wife stated that the rut was filled and seed put down. No straw to protect it or keep it from washing away or birds eating it. I came home to find the rut nearly filled and grass seed on top. It rained that night. Not worth fighting them over a $50 problem. I'm not sure if the sealant had time to cure before the rain came that night. So I find it interesting that I am stressing over the rut and damage to the lawn from the carelessness of the employee and the job they were hired to do went pretty much as planned. I will update as the years pass as to the performance of the 'sealant' used to protect our deck since the temperatures dropped quickly and it rained the night the sealant was applied.

We decided to work with DeckMaster after speaking with several companies. Jose Ugalde came out to look at the job -- repair from a fallen tree -- and he clearly knew his business and provided a quote right away. It took quite a bit of time to settle with insurance (as it turned out all the decking had to be replaced since we couldn't match it), but once everything was settled they came right out and did the work. We had a couple little issues, but they were resolved to our satisfaction immediately. They also cleaned and stained the rails and trellis. Overall we are very happy with the work performed by DeckMaster.

They responded to my call, examined the deck and gave an estimate for what I wanted to have done. They returned several days later, did a good job of replacing the boards which I wanted replaced (including some on the floor of the deck and the railing), cleaned it and painted the entire deck with a stain that I had approved. They cleaned up thoroughly and protected the plants surrounding the deck. I considered the cost to be appropriate for the work performed.

The deck looks awesome! Like it is brand new. There were a few areas that needed touching up and they came back without question to address them; the technician assured me that they would come back again if I had any other issues. They always call the day before to confirm and when they are on their way. I think the price was very reasonable for a two-step process on a very large deck, split stairs with landing, and top cap of the railings on the deck and stairs. The people were great communicators and highly professional.

Deckmaster did a good job overall and I would use them again. In July they replaced the boards and railing tops on our deck. It took 2 days. They were on time and did good work at a good price. The project manager responded quickly to phone calls and questions and was prompt in relaying instructions to his team on site. In October, they returned to power wash the boards and stain our deck, as well as our fence. Once again, they did good work. They also moved around our furniture below the deck so as to avoid dripping stain onto it, which was appreciated. One positive is that they did the work on a 2nd story deck without ever having to enter the house. One negative thing though was rescheduling. The deck woodwork was done on time, but the deck/fence cleaning/staining was rescheduled twice due to weather, although the weather on one of the cancelled dates was fine. Once they did it, the work was good. They also called the day before to confirm they would be coming out. **I amended this review to reduce the overall quality rating from A to B. Within a few months after the work was done, we noticed a couple of minor issues. The first was that when the wood boards shrank after installation (a common and expected occurrence) they shrank up a little too much in some places, leading the wood looking a little warped around the edges and a little uneven. The other is that the stain treatment they put on the deck started to wear away fairly quickly. I thin these are minor issues overall, but are noticeable quality items over the long term, and makes me want to rate them as "good" rather than "excellent".

My husband dealt exclusively with Jose, so I need to preface with that. However, Deck Master did a fantastic job repairing, cleaning, and staining our deck. We have not done anything with the deck in the 10 years we have lived here, and I thought we would need to have it replaced. It looked awful. Jose and crew pressure washed it, repaired missing railings, and fixed any nails that we coming out. They then stained the deck and it looks brand-new. I never imagined it would look as good as it did. They also pressure washed the side of the house where mold tends to grow, and that is spotless. They were punctual and responsive, and finished the job within the time frame provided. We are VERY happy with their service and would absolutely use them again. We highly recommend them to anyone.

The deck looks like new! The technicians were extremely thorough and very courteous. They arrived on time and completed the work within the time frame we were quoted. Needless to say, we were extremely satisfied with Deckmasters.

deck masters was prompt in contacting me and provided a written estimate. A complete explanation of the services and all my questions were answered. The service was completed just a week later. They showed up when promised and completed the work within the timeframe estimated. The work was completed to my satisfaction.

I'd tried doing re-sealing the porch myself or having someone come out and powerwash and seal the porch but it never lasted. Additionally, many of the wood railings were rotting and needed to be replaced. I started doing it myself and discovered it was a bigger job than I expected, which is when I called DeckMaster. I was impressed that they were able to match the original railings so well. I will probably have them back every year to re-seal the porch. I'm relieved to have found a company that will take over this chore for me, at a reasonable price.

I called to receive an estimate on installation of a new deck. I was placed on hold; the woman who answered and took my call was rushed and did not fully comprehend me. She was unwilling to provide me with a hard appointment but wanted the appointment to be a two hour window. I explained that if it was during the day, I do not work from home, and needed a hard time. She was unwilling to do this. (This was done by each other estimate I have gotten....). I explained that this would be an expensive project (I estimate over $30,000), and that if they wanted a chance at the business, they should meet some minor timing issues like an appointment - she then tartly replied that they have many customers and could not meet a request for a specific hard timed appointment. I then ended the call. Not sure they are in the business of making money. Would suggest trying a different company. Owner - if you are reading this ----- you really need to learn the front end of the business. This is no way to get clients. I am ready to sign a contract and it will not be with your firm.

Overall the experience was positive. It was easy, straight-forward, and uncomplicated. I feel good that the deck is now in good shape and will not need further work for approximately 2-3 years. Update August 2013: It has only been a little over a year since DeckMaster power-washed, stripped, and re-stained the deck and it already looks like it did before (green stains, etc.). Friends came over a few days ago and commented that the deck really needed to be maintained. When I told them it was just done last year they said the job could not have been done right and that it really should be done again! I am very disappointed given what I paid and the assurance by DeckMaster that the deck would now be in good condition for 2-3 years.

Arrived on time work was done in 3 days. They are clean and efficient. Happy with the work.

I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for putting in a new deck almost two weeks in advance of the meeting. After being put on hold for a long period of time to do so, I got a two-hour window for a day which I would be around to meet with someone from the company. I received a call an hour into the service window to tell me that something had come up that morning (my appointment window was 11 am - 1 pm) and the person could not meet with me until that evening or the next day. Because the times did not work for me and because I had not been contacted about any delays in meeting with me until after the time the meeting was supposed to take place, I decided not to pursue working with DeckMaster any further and did not reschedule.

Only appointment they had available for an estimate was 2 weeks from the day I called. On the day of the estimate, I was told they would arrive between 10 AM and noon. They missed that window and changed it to 1 PM - 2 PM and missed again. Once it hit 3 PM with no show for an estimate the decision was already made about if I would use their service. Thanks for wasting my time with your lack of professionalism.

The total quote was more than DOUBLE other estimates. The person who came out was NOT friendly at all. Little interaction unless I initiated it. The price was $2.50 / sq ft and didn't include stripping the wood. The DeckMaster brochure, which I had to prompt him to provide, listed $1.80 / sq ft as a MAX price for a Premium Water and UV Protection package. When I asked him why the price was so high, he said it would be a "Custom Restore", whatever that means because he didn't really explain it. No wood needs to be placed and his quote specifically states it only needs to be cleaned and did NOT include any wood stripping. One good thing did come out of it, he stated that the company ONLY uses Sikkens deck products and my research indicates it is a very good product. I can't say STAY AWAY because I didn't use their service and maybe this guy was having a bad day, but the brief experience was a complete turn-off.

I called DeckMaster in the third week of April to arrange an appointment for an estimate for a new deck for my home. The earliest available date was approximately 10 days later. When the estimator arrived on Thursday, May 2, he was very polite and professional, and I expected that, if he provided me a quality plan and a reasonable price, I would hire them to do the job. Today, 8 days later, I have not received the plans that I was promised by April 4, nor have I received any further communication from the company. Everyone I spoke with was polite and professional, but the company's obvious lack of interest in doing the work, and their failure to communicate with me, led to the low score I have provided.

Amanda was very courteous and professional when answering the phone and she scheduled us about 2 weeks after the estimate. We were just about to leave our house for work when the crew arrived. We were glad that we were able to speak with them even though I had already conveyed our concerns to Amanda. We asked the 2 man crew not to walk or drag equipment through our flower beds that were recently mulched and have plants starting to pop out of the soil. We asked them to be careful in pressure washing and staining the deck so that the plants around the lower deck and underneath the deck would not be destroyed. We suggested that they use the walkway around the deck instead. The men were very understanding and took the time to cover the plants as much as they can and carefully pressure washing and staining the deck when they came to the flower bed area. We were so impressed with them taking the time to listen to our concerns and actually took the time and care with our flower beds. The deck looked beautiful, got all the green coloring from our hanging plants off the railings and the bird poop from the floor of the deck that it almost looked new. I was so impressed with them 4 years ago that I recommended them to our neighbor who has started using DeckMaster as their deck maintenance provider. The only thing I would do differently is the next time I need deck maintenance done, I will have it done before my plants started to come up and before my beds are mulched. I would also recommend that you have an outdoor outlet other than where your deck is located so that the men do not have to walk on your newly stained deck to unplug the electric cord to their machine when they are finished. I could not tell that they walked on the newly stained deck, they must have tippy-toed through it. Anyway, by the time DeckMaster needs to come back I will have an outdoor outlet in the front of the house for them to use and I may even upgrade to a better package. I would highly recommend them and especially crew on Van #7.

They were very friendly and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with them. They quoted me close to $12000 which was much less than another company; so it was good. I liked them. I am still talking with them. They understood what I wanted. They gave me the impression that they could do the job. They weren’t hesitant about what needed to be done.

We had an excellent experience with Deckmasters from the estimator who gave us several options, to the office which contacted us with precise information on the timing, to the two workmen who did a careful job installing the new boards on the oddly shaped deck and neatly removed all the old lumber. The price was reasonable and we will call them again in a few months to do the recommended finishing of the new lumber.

It was a great experience. The deck looks great. The initial meeting for the estimate went very well; the representative was very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all my questions, explained everything, and advised me on what to do. The technicians Denis and Emir were conscientious. They worked nonstop until the job was done. They were very neat and were careful not to stain the surrounding areas. The flagstone walkway was excellent. They did a great job sealing with a non-shining sealant. Note: Be careful if you chose the cedar stain color. At no fault of Deckmasters, I chose the cedar stain color. Applied to my deck, it came out redder than I expected and I would prefer a natural color. In the future, I would use Deckmasters again but just chose the natural stain.

I really appreciated having Jose Ulgade's leadership and design recommendations as he showed lots of patience with me and my husband. His crew, and especially the 2 project managers, were really nice and did a super job building our new deck/ screened porch. We love it. I would recommend DeckMaster to anyone considering building a deck or porch.

Got the referral from Angies List. Called and made appt for estimate. Gentleman came to the house and discussed options. Demonstrated how the deck would look once it was stripped. Offer a deal on the maintenance - many plans and choices of stain. Office was in close contact with me since the weather plays a role in when they can do the work. Had to be rescheduled but it was painless on my end as they came and went while I was at work - even though it was a second story deck. The only complaint I have was that they did not put my garden hose back in the holder when they were done.

Everyone (from the scheduler to the estimator to the workmen) was fantastic. We are so pleased with the excellent results & professional job.

The technicians were conscientious. They worked nonstop until the job was done. Dennis, the technician on day 2, helped repair a leaking gutter also.
