Weather hampered the quick completion of the job. Final appearance is the best fence and deck have looked since 2001. Because of weather delays, provider may have pushed too much to complete all the homes. Provider does need to be more careful covering up and/or masking areas to prevent stain from drifting to non-deck and fence areas.

These guys are very good and professional. I called and set up a free estimate, was met at the agreed time and date and went over options. The cost was a bit pricy, even with the discount they provided, but the work was done well. Whatever chemical they use really does the trick. I paid for the sealant / stain that would protect it up to 3 years I think. I think the way the deck looks is great, but I'm not so sure the sanding was worth the cost - I can't tell that much of a difference. Overall, I give them a B based - primarily due to the cost. I would use them again.

They did a great job and the deck looks great. Only thing funny was that we had negotiated at point of sale for cleaning between the slats. When the worker came to power wash the deck they didn't know about that, so there seems to have been some sort of communication breakdown between sales and worker (as there often as). But we just told them and they drilled holes for us to drain the water. Very good job overall.

Went well. Work was performed over a 2-day period. Team of 2 workmen used a chemical cleaning system on the wood and not pressure washing. They replaced 8 boards that were cracked/splintering. Used the same stain we used 4 years before when we had DeckMasters perform similar work. They exercised reasonable care - no chemicals or stain on surrounding brick work or concrete deck. There was minor damage to plants that were right against the deck but they have recovered with no ill after-effects.

Deckmaster showed up a few days late, blaming scheduling and weather. The communication throughout the job was poor with respect to updated information and returning telephone calls. The work quality was generally good, although most of the new wood steps were cracked and railing caps left unattached. Worst aspect was an attempt to overcharge beyond contract price and no communication re resolution, requiring me to protest with my credit card bank which is still open.

They were wonderful. Came when scheduled and did a few extras for free - washed some end tables and the front stoop. looks wonderful.

It was a really good price. It is a tiered system, depending on what I wanted to do with my deck with the option I was going to go for, which was the full service option. It was probably going to be about $2,100 because I wanted to have some boards replaced, and it was a really good price. I just was waiting to see how expensive my basement was going to be before I went ahead with the deck. I may use their services in the future and I just needed to see how much it was going to cost to think of it. I will use their services, but I just don’t know if it will be this fall or when I can get around to it because they were really good. The tech was really good. He took the right amount of time putting the estimate together. He walked around and checked the loose boards and measured everything. Then he tested with the solution to see if they could actually get the stain that I had previously up. Then he walked me through all the options and then left it open to me. I didn’t feel like he was trying to do a hard sell. He was just really informative but not pushy. It was really good and it was really a positive experience. I had one other person and I thought it was really a good price. I thought it was pretty fair. From what he walked through, it seemed like they had a quality product. They were kind of slow on responsiveness because it took them like three weeks to get back to me since I called. He actually came early.

Very effective & did their job,cleaned up.

This company was wonderful. They showed up on time and were very professional about preparing the estimate. The workmen showed up early and got the work done very quickly on the date they scheduled to do it. The price was good. They came and gave an estimate, did the work and I did not talk to them anymore.

Supposed to come on June 24 to take care of the deck. I called on Monday to confirm and made sure they had the check. He assured me that as was well and they would be there. We scrambled to get the deck cleared and changed plans around so that they could come and take care of it. June 24--no show. They never came and did any work. I called their office and left a message. If they provide me with an adequate explanation and provide me with the appropriate customer service, I will be more than happy to change my review.

The quality of their work is excellent. Communication is a little bit difficult sometimes.

The project manager came an hour early to give me an estimate and was courteous and professional. Although it took 2 weeks to book an appointment for an estimate. The men came a day earlier to clean deck, but a week later to stain the deck to due the weather conditions (rain). The results look good.

The estimator did not arrive on time so I did not get a chance to talk to him in person. However he left an estimate which we discussed over the phone. I made an appointment. After several rain delays and a postponement due to a last minute order of stain, my deck was finally completed and it looked good. Now one year after the deck restoration I have an apparent mold or mildew issue all over the deck. I made an appointment in early June for someone to take a look at my deck. It was scheduled for 6/12/14 between 9 - 11. I arranged to take off work, and after waiting an hour received a voicemail that they were cancelling and I should reschedule. I am not a happy camper :-( Update 7/18/14: Deck Master redid my deck this week and it went smoothly. I am pleased with the results and happy to know that I still have 2 more years of warranty, which I certainly hope I won't need. It's still a mystery to me what caused the issue (mold/mildew?) in the first place. There was a significant improvement in their communication efforts (keeping me informed) and their willingness to resolve the issue.

They had different packages for restoration but they didn't restore anything much. They stained the deck. I was disappointed. The price seems to be good.

My initial estimate was done on 4/21. I called about a week later to arrange the work to be completed. They put me on the schedule to come out on 5/7 to begin the project and 5/9 to complete the project. They called the evening of 5/6 to confirm they would be out the next day, subject to the weather (which I completely understand). 5/7 comes and I happen to be working from home that day?.at around noon I call to find out when they plan on coming out only to be told that it is starting to rain and they would have to reschedule. Though it only rained for 1 hour, and they honestly could have come out later that day. They said they would call me back in an hour with a day and time. At about 4 pm I called because I had not heard from them, still, they are working on rescheduling customers, would call me later. At around 6pm I get a call that they will be out the following Monday, 5/12. They called me the evening of 5/8 and asked if they could come out the following day. Great, yes, I was glad. The contractors arrived around 11am, I happen to be home and after some confusion about what the estimate actually was for, and after having to tell a rather portly contractor to get down from sitting on my railing of my deck?yes, he was sitting on the railing of my deck! The power wash was done. Unfortunately, there was not good weather the following week so I called that Monday 5/12 and asked to be put on the Saturday schedule. They told me they were scheduling me on Wednesday 5/14 but I firmly asked to be put on Saturday since I knew it would be raining all week and they agreed. I called the morning of Friday 5/16 to confirm they would be coming out on Saturday, and was told yes, I was on the schedule for the morning. Saturday came, and around 10am I called and spoke with the manager, who said I was not on the Saturday schedule. He seemed fixated on a name of who I spoke with the day prior, like that would have changed the fact that I wasn?t on the schedule. I expressed my frustration with their customer service, not following up to let me know when and if they would come out. I was promised I would get a call either way if they would be able to make it out on Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised when the contractors came out later that day. In the end, I feel that they went out of their way to satisfy me as a customer. I just felt a little frustrated getting to that point is all.

Several days later and after numerous calls to confirm that the estimate was ready, still no estimate has been sent to me nor any attempt to call me been made by the contractor. I ask myself why did I give him so much of my information to supposedly hasten the process? Do they spy on people? Why do they consistently promise to deliver on the next day and fall perfectly short of what they promise? I can't say I really expect much more from them.

José did a thorough inspection of my deck in order to provide an estimate. He clearly has a lot of experience, and what I liked most was that he could repair boards needing replacement, add stronger structural reinforcement underneath the deck (something I already felt was necessary), as well as clean and restore my deck with a new similar color stain. Plus, he offered a 4-year warranty, which I could not find elsewhere. The repair work began within days of my work authorization, though the cleaning and sanding took a couple of weeks (it's high season for this kind of work, so understandable). The staining was delayed a bit by rain. I would have like a little more communication on that front since the date moved twice and nobody contacted me. This was not a problem; I just wanted to be kept informed. They use a spray for the stain, and took very good care that none gone on the exterior of the house. However, at the base of the posts underneath, and some other areas under the deck and a spot on the lawn there are visible marks from the stain. It is not very noticeable, but not as polished as the top. The deck looks truly excellent and we are using it a lot. The work is exactly what I wanted done.

They came very quickly and thoroughly measured the deck and prepared an estimate. I liked that they had a color brochure available to choose a stain. I scheduled the cleaning and staining. They date was pushed back because of rain which is understandable. They spent almost 6 hours cleaning our deck. They were very professional. In a few days they came back and did the sealing. I am very happy to have a deck that looks like new. I was also very glad they took the time to cover all exposed items in our patio below. I would highly recommend them.

The work was performed professionally. The work was scheduled to be done at an earlier date, but had to be postponed due to weather conditions. The two workmen who did the job worked efficiently and I am pleased with the way the deck looks. The only problem I had was getting in touch with the salesman to schedule the work after he had done the estimate.

It was great overall. They were very easy to work with.

I called to arrange for someone to come by our home to prepare an estimate for repairing our deck. Their first opening was about a week out. I made arrangements for them to come by on Nov 13th, but the day before they called to say that they could not make the appointment and would like to reschedule. My husband told them to cancel the appointment since it was a bad sign that they could not keep the appointment. Within about ten minutes after hanging up the phone, we received another call saying they would be able to keep the appointment, but my husband told them that he was not interested in having them do the estimate. We subsequently contracted with another Angie's List company.

We had repairs done to our deck. We also had the decking and screened porch sanded and stained.

The crew worked quickly and rescheduled the finishing quickly around interruptions by rain. They protected our cedar shake siding well with plastic. They also refinished the lattice that covers the space all the way around this wrap-around deck. However, we wish they had also spread plastic over the lawn beyond the deck, because the cleaner they sprayed through the deck railing killed the grass and poisoned the soil such that my reseeding failed. Otherwise we are very pleased with the work and will have them back to renew the finish in three years.

We called Deckmasters to replace the back third of our deck, and to do a clean/stain. When the guys started pulling the boards up, it was clear that the joist were all rotten from being too close to the ground. They recommended that we rip out the whole thing and start over. It was a lot more money than we had wanted to spend but safety first. So we were in for a brand new deck. Because of rain, it took a few more days than expected for the old deck to come out and the new deck to be fully built (4 days altogether). Also the only access to our backyard is through the house, so they had to bring all of the old wood through the house to dispose of them.. and wow they cleaned up everything so well, there's not a trace of any dirt in the house. The new deck is beautiful, well-built, sturdy and higher off the ground (to prevent water damage). We couldn't get it stained right away because the new wood needed some time to breathe, so per Deckmaster's advice we waited about 1.5 months before calling them back to complete the job. I was able to get on the schedule right away, but less than 12 hours after the stain job, we got 4 straight days of rain, which washed away a lot of the stain, and left the deck looking streaky and horrible. We called Deckmasters and emailed a few pictures, thinking we would have to beg and convince them to come back. But before we even had to say anything, they said -- no problem, we will come back and restain in, no charge. Just like that! No issues, no push back! The guys (same ones who've been to our house 3 times now-- they are really awesome -- hardworking, fast and polite) came back for round two and stained it again. This time the weather held out and it dried beautifully. We are so happy with how the deck came out. True, it was a looooong process and more money than we'd expected to spend. But the guys at Deckmasters are great, and I'm glad to give them the business.

My deck needed cleaning badly. It was grimy and had moldy spots. After the cleaning, the deck looked like new. The workers arrived on time for both the cleaning and staining and worked very efficiently. They were pleasant and explained what was done after the job was completed. The stain color turned out beautifully. The deck now looks like a hardwood floor. Based on other quotes for an Ipe deck, the price was extremely reasonable. The estimator did arrive late, but he called and notified me that he was delayed. Overall, I am very pleased with the job that they did.
