They did a good job. They were very reasonable and we called other companies and they wouldn't even touch it.

The crew that did the work did an excellent job. Our deck, which is more than 20 years old, now looks like it is new. We're glad we went with this company and will use them to maintain the deck in the years ahead.

I was able to get an estimator out very quickly and able to schedule the service. It was the end of March so beginning of April showers. The men came on time and worked very quickly and carefully around our flower beds under the deck. The power washed the deck and replaced all the wooden top railing on the top and lower deck. They were supposed to come back the next day to finish the job but the weather did not cooperated. It took them 2 weeks to come back to finish the job. I was not very happy that they did not come back the next week like they said after the initial service. I was told that because of the weather, they had to push everyone back so 2 weeks later, I finally got my naked new wood railing stained and painted as well as the rest of the deck. They tightened all the connections and hammered down the nails sticking up from the deck. Overall, I was completely happy with the job the workers did. They also cleaned up nicely.

Deck color was completed as shown in sample I picked. When I called to discuss, they said it was too bad and they used what I selected. They wouldn't even agree to come out to look. I had to have them come out to redo some missed paint spots, though. When I did, they used my hose to wash brushes and accidentally flooded my basement. I later found out they did not have active insurance and the owner tried to deny any wrong doing and accused me of being a liar. I'd never recommend this company. I had bad work and bad attitude.

It went great. After pressure washing, they replaced several rotting boards and then resurfaced the entire deck. Deck looks terrific and has worn well.

It was done affordably, promptly and without hassle. They made three separate trips to rebuild, powerwash and put the stain on -- it not only looked great at the end, but the new stain matched the old perfectly to make the whole thing look brand new. I highly recommend!

Amazing job refinishing our deck. They started with a detailed low pressure washing. Then repairs and replacement of a few boards and finally the application of a transparent beautiful finish. The workers that applied the finish did so with meticulous attention to the fine details. The price was very reasonable for the amount of manual labor involved. I will definitely work with DeckMaster in the future and recommend it to anyone .

Once an estimate was received and initial inquiries answered, it became tedious to try to get in contact with the sales rep and to get other questions answered. Once it was decided to go with the company we were given an estimate of the start date but informed that weather, etc. could alter that. This is understandable but we received no updates unless we contacted them at which point we were told by the estimator that scheduling was not his job and we should call the office, and the office could not give us any idea of where we might be in the que or when we could reasonably assume to have the job completed by. The cleaning had been done and then it sat for almost 2 weeks. Finally one day the crew showed up to stain. We were not home and despite the company?s promise to call us 24 hours in advance we only knew about the job being completed when we came home from work that day. There were 2 messages on the answering machine from that morning (after 8:00 so we had left for work) telling us that the crew was coming but nothing before. There was no follow-up except for the charge to our credit card. More professionalism and customer service should be expected.

Outstanding... From start to finish= we had a few rain delays- but they fully explained.

Great! They monitored the bad weather and came early to pressure wash and sand when the weather was looking bad for the appointment date. Then returned to finish the job. Fence and deck look rejuvenated.

This experience was pretty much an awful serving of oversold, under-delivered and then lack of professionalism by the office staff as a cherry on top. The project Manager visited my home, was professional and gave a competitive estimate. Restoration was to be done via a wash, sanding of horizontal surfaces and application of 4 coats of stain. When work was actually done, only 2 coats of stain were applied and painters spayed over an electrical outlet box that required replacing the box cover. I made a written comment on the final invoice that the work was not satisfactorily completed and the amount indicated on the invoice was inaccurate. A representative from the office called stating that they would send the Project Manager out to note my dissatisfaction and my card would not be charged until I was completely satisfied. All this sounded good so far. However, the Project Manager showed up 3 days later and excused the fact that the job was done with only 2 coats of paint instead of 4 claiming that it looked to him like they used enough paint despite using less than the agreed number of coats and that I had a 4 year warranty on the job anyway so it didn't matter. He also stated that he would have the electrical panel cover replaced. To my dismay, 2 weeks after the project manager's visit, the electrical panel cover is yet to be replaced yet my credit card has been charged and for more than was agreed upon. Worst aspect of the whole experience was when I called the office to ask why I was charged when the electrical panel cover had not been replaced and charged for more than was agreed upon. The representative on the phone showed no empathy, offered no apology and instead claimed that they were free to charge my card at anytime after the work was done because they had my card information on file as well as my signature and the actual job itself had been completed despite my satisfaction and the outstanding replacement. She did state they would issue a refund for the overcharge though she could not tell me why I was overcharged in the first place. After everything I just went ahead and replaced the electrical outlet box cover myself as I was totally turned off by the experience and did not want anyone from the company back on my property after the failed promises and unprofessional response to my last call to the office. Caveat Emptor!!!

bought the special they had running a few months ago. They never contacted me. I reached out to them and still heard nothing. I gave up and cancelled the Special that Angie's list was running.

We have used this company previously -they are fantastic. On time; thorough, beautiful job, great end result. Workers are friendly & diligent/ Simply the best. Pressureless washing system much better than high-pressure. Our deck is 20 years old and looks brand new.

Deckmaster did an excellent job. They moved all of the furniture and power washed the deck. A few days later they returned to stain it. The staff working on this job were very friendly and helpful. We appreciate their fine work and would definitely use them the next time. They were very careful and helpful.

Would not use this company, this was unprofessional and irresponsible.

I found DeckMaster on Angies List and saw that they were well recommended - I called 3 firms and chose this one for the work. The estimator came as scheduled and explained their procedures to me very thoroughly. The crew came promptly on the day scheduled, in spite of all the rain we've had lately they were not delayed getting to my deck. After they started we had two days with a lot of rain when they could not work - although on days with intermittent rain they continued to make as much progress as possible. They used a pattern on my deck that was much better than the original one and has 'hidden' nails - a huge improvement. They took a lot of care with fitting corners and seams and it looks wonderful. They also replaced timbers in front of the deck that had rotted out over time. We were very pleased with the workmanship and professionalism of Carlos & Ricardo in completing this renovation for us. This deck replacement exceeded our expectations - we are very happy with it and will both recommend and use them again.

Jose Ugalde came previous to the actual work to describe what was needed. Our deck was in pretty rough shape and we had, erroneously, had the cedar deck covered two years ago in a desk sealer that didn't allow the cedar to breathe, leading to rot and damage in several places. He explained what needed to be done to bring the deck back to life and exactly what I could expect costs to be. A few weeks ago the work was started that included thorough cleaning of the deck and replacement of some of the badly damaged boards. Because of rain delays the work was completed until today. The final opaque sealant was put on and it looks fabulous now. I'm so pleased with the work and wish I had used them the last time!

I scheduled the quote which took about two weeks for someone to be able to come out. They called in the morning, on the day of the quote, to ask if they could come later. My window was from 12-2 they asked if they could move it to 4:30/5. I called them at 5:45 to ask if they were still coming. He said we were next. They arrived around 6. I showed them the deck and talked to them for a few minutes. He said he would get to work on the estimate and come talk to me. After about 5 - 10 minutes he came in to ask me if he could put some sort of solvent on a handrail to test what kind of stain it was. I asked if it would leave a mark and he explained that it would. It would take the paint of and expose the wood. I then noticed a wet area at the top of my deck stairs leading down into the yard. I asked if that was going to dry and be back to normal or if it would leave a mark. He responded with, well of course it will leave a mark it stripped the paint. At that point I was panicking that he just left this rather large mark on my deck that I have no way to fix. He responses ranged from, "Well you are refinishing your deck. This spot doesn't matter." to "I am sorry you are so ignorant to this process." and "Well, you can't please everyone." Had he explained to me what he was doing I would have had him do his test in an area on the deck that wasn't so obvious. I was so upset with what he did to my deck that I asked him to leave immediately and did not want him to finish the quote. He eventually admitted that he should have chosen another place to check the wood. I am not sure if leaving this spot on my deck was a tactic to require me to refinish my deck with this company or not. But, I cannot more strongly recommend to you do use this company, even for a quote. I believe the owner of the company was the man who was at my house today. I am beyond upset about the condition of my deck now.

Jose is very easy to deal with and he's a very good designer. My deck is simply beautiful!!! I get so many compliments and neighbors/guests are always asking me who built it. They also built a very pretty raised side entrance that is so nice, people sometimes thing it's my front door rather than my side door. DeckMaster also just cleaned and re-stained it this past fall. They replaced boards that had been damaged over time (4 years is too long to wait). All the workers are very courteous and the result always looks great!

We received prompt responses EVERY single time I contacted Jose or Oscar either by email or phone. They provided a quote that was a bit less than I was expecting and provided prices for a wood deck and a trex material deck (without me even asking). After we discussed our project they suggested a few ideas for us to consider. First, rebuild the deck one level (original had a step down, then another step off of the deck; now we step out of the house directly onto the deck. This was no small job as the deck has a gazebo across from the exit from the house and it required some work on the gazebo to make the deck match heights. Additionally, they suggested a knee wall around the outside of the deck, which really completes the appearance. Finally, they encased the original base of the gazebo in the same material as the rebuilt deck to give the appearance of one structure. The two 'pieces' now look like they were constructed at the same time. We are very happy with the final product, it is certainly much more appealing with all their suggestions. The demolition was completed in ~1 day, everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. The crew worked very quickly and precisely, corners are square, deck boards are all aligned correctly and they were all professional at all times. There were two minor issues with workmanship (which probably could have been left as is), that when mentioned at the completion of the project, they returned as soon as weather permitted and fully repaired the issue. The deck is very stable, looks great and is a real value for the price. The group was professional, courteous, replied quickly to any contact we made and knew what they were doing. I would use DeckMaster again without any hesitation and would recommend them to family members.
