This was one of the smoothest moves I have encountered. The initial review and estimate was handled promptly and efficiently. We reserved dates for the packing and the move. The packing crew turned up promptly at 8.00 am on the scheduled date and did a careful and comprehensive job of packing our effects. The movers were a little delayed in traffic the next day but called ahead to warn us and still arrive in good time. The delivery was scheduled for two days later. However, the driver, Mario actually arrived the next evening to check out the location and he and his crew turned up promptly just before 8.00 am on the day scheduled for the move in. The crew worked carefully and did their best to accommodate requests reading furniture and box placement. We have seen no evidence of any breakage or damage. All in all we are very pleased with the service that was provided.

I had used this company during a previous move five years ago, and had no hesitation in calling them again this time. Mark, the estimator, came right as scheduled and was friendly and efficient. At my request here arranged for a number of boxes to be dropped off so we could do some self packing in the weeks leading up to our move. On packing day, A crew of five showed up and immediately got to work, asking me 20 questions about how we wanted things done. They took special care to provide detailed labels on every box, which is extremely important when it comes time to unpack and you are looking for things. On moving day, another crew of five showed up early and got right to work. They were very careful and did not damage anything, either in the old house or the new one. I was amazed when they managed to get a very large desk into a very small study maneuvering carefully through a narrow doorway. They worked extremely h****** a very hot day, and by dinner time we were in the new house. Moving is always stressful, but using a good moving company can make a big difference. We have been pleased with our experience using Town & Country.

Follow-up service after the move was slow, but eventually completed to our satisfaction. The estimate said if we went under the estimated weight or number of boxes the price would be reduced. It took over a month and several phone calls and e-mails to receive the the final weight nor box count. My initial call I about damage went into a black hole, but a follow-up call several weeks later was returned and the company addressed all issues, including a refund for the boxes we had packed and payment for damaged and missing items. We have moved many times during my career. Town & Country was not the best, nor the worst. But for two individuals the actual move would have been one of the better and my rating substantially higher. Two of the three packers did a superior job; however, the one who didn't made for unpleasant surprises, and unnecessary breakage discovered upon opening the boxes. Two mirrors in a set were packed glass to glass with no padding in between. One curio cabinet was packed in a box without removing the items inside or inserting any packing. Upon delivery, the driver and one worker were competent and pleasant, the other, however, had an attitude problem. We asked the boxes be stacked in the garage with labels facing out so they could be read. He just stacked them any old way. He put items marked basement in the garage, and items marked garage in the basement. The delivery would also have been better if it were not so rushed. The truck came overnight from DC to South Carolina, delivered on a Sunday, and they rushed to finish so they could drive back to DC on Sunday after delivery. That meant the driver had to sleep during part of the delivery. It's a 9 hour drive. They should have gotten an overnight before delivery so they would be rested when they arrived.

I am very happy with the service provided by Town and Country. Everyone I worked with was professional and honest. My overall impression is "reliability." If you are tired of people telling you one thing and doing another, Town and Country is a company to call. Steven Morgan provided an accurate estimate. He was flexible, customer-oriented, yet realistic and responsible. The team dispatched to pack my items was efficient, hardworking, careful. Rudy, who delivered my items along with his colleague was working very hard and did a great job. Everything came in as expected and on time. You get what you pay for and you have predictability when working with Town and Country. I highly recommend!

I used Town & Country for a local move within Montgomery County. My wife and young daughter were moving from a three-bedroom townhouse into a single-family home about 15 minutes away. From the moment I contacted Town & Country for an estimate, I was immediately impressed by their responsiveness. I received a response at 9 p.m. on a weeknight, which was very unexpected. Subsequent email communication with the sales rep was always prompt and thorough. The crew showed up when promised and was extremely impressive. They were courteous and took care of our items as if they were their own. The care they took to wrap, pad, and protect our most important pieces of furniture was very reassuring. And, man, were they fast. They completed the move 90 minutes under estimate and under-charged us on the labor rate. From start to finish, I was extremely impressed, and will absolutely use Town & Country for my next move, whether local or long-distance.

Worst experience ever. The movers were late both days. They underestimated by about 50% the time they would need to pack, load and unload. They did not tag all of my items. They were careless with my stuff. They did not pack my tv. They left the van with my stuff in it open and unattended. They did not know how much my load weighed. The company promised to send 4 movers each day but only sent two. They promised a different crew the 2nd day after I complained about the first crew, but then sent back the same crew. The men did not know how to move furniture upstairs and they wedged a set of box springs in the staircase, punched holes in my ceiling, sheered off wall edges, messed up paint on two flights of stairs and crushed some of the wooden moldings. The office folks didn't return several phone calls or respond to all of my emails. So far, the company has agreed to reimburse me for damages but refused to compensate me for my time or the unprofessional, inadequate service that I received. There are many moving companies in DC and Philly. Don't use this one!

Town & Country packed up my condo and moved everything perfectly. Everything made it in tact. The packers and moving team were very professional and careful with all of my items. Not one thing was broken - including all dishes and my glass-top dining table. I would highly recommend them and I would certainly use them again. Moving with Town & Country was much better than prior moves I have done.

We had a four man team to move us to our new house. They were friendly, fast, and skilled. All this in the pouring rain! They carefully wrapped our furniture and kept it dry. I really can't recommend this company highly enough. I used them to move from Maryland to New York City 9 years ago, at which time they carried my enormous 7 foot bookshelf up 6 flights of stairs without complaint. If you are moving in the DC area, you will be very happy with Town & Country.

The move went surprisingly smoothly!! The packers did an excellent job in protecting our fragile items and labeled each box so that they were easily placed when unloading. Our crew in both places was excellent! Martin was our driver from start to finish and he was excellent: professional, punctual and hard working. Everything arrived in one piece, it was amazing!!! I would strongly recommend this company to anyone doing a long distance move. It was very low stress!

I called the company a year ago to receive an estimate to move me from Maryland to Alabama. Eric Aldinger came out, walked through my entire house and provided me with 2 estimates: 1 estimate with all packing being done by Town and Country and 1 estimate with packing being down by owner. I interviewed a few other movers, none impressed me more than Town and Country's estimator. He was matter of fact about the charges and very detailed about what his company would do and any additional expense that I could encounter without asking the right questions. Needless to say...my move was delayed. I contacted Town and Country this year May 2015, and requested another estimate. Eric returned within 2 days after my call. He followed to make sure I would be available for his schedule arrival time (really appreciated that). He arrived and within 15 minutes, he was able to provide me with an estimate. I scheduled my move for 10 days later. So happy that they could accommodate at such short notice! I was told that the movers would arrive at 9:00. The movers called me at 8:30 to inform me that they would be at my home at 9:00, and they were. There was a little friction upon their arrival from one of the movers, I forgot his name. He blustered though the yard and screeched that I needed to move my vehicle. Another mover (DJ) said "good morning, do you think you could move your vehicle?" I explained that the vehicle was inoperable. He stated that they could work around it. He was extremely polite and professional. The driver came out and told me that they could move it for me. He was such a great guy and extremely professional. He explained that they would take care of everything. There was a total of 4 movers for my 2300 sf home. I was very impressed with the entire team. They packed a few of my items that I didn't get to pack. The driver, DJ and the Spanish gentleman were very kind the entire time. The other guy, redeemed himself later in the day. Overall they were a great team and got it all done. They were done by 5:00. June 5, 2015 my property arrived at a storage facility. A different Eric and DJ arrived to unpack and place my things in storage. The longest day ever because of the facilities policy of not allowing the elevator to be operated without a code to get on and off. Very secure facility(Extra Space Storage) but difficult to move in or out. I can't sing enough praises for Eric the driver and DJ the mover!!! They were professional, polite and hard working!!! I would use this company over and over again!!!

We had an excellent experience with this moving company. I contacted the company and a few hours later I received a response from Ryan. He was able to quickly put together an estimate for me and answer all of my questions. He was very responsive to my emails as I prepared for the move. On moving day, the crew of 3 men showed up on time and worked efficiently to load the truck at both our previous residence and our storage unit. It was very hot that day and they worked really hard as they unloaded the truck and brought all of our belongings into our new place. The only issue we had was that someone was supposed to call the day before and confirm the time the crew would arrive. I ended up having to email Ryan and ask about what time they would be showing up. He wrote back that my file indicated that someone had spoken with me earlier in the day (which had not happened). He confirmed via email the crew arrival time.

We needed a long-distance move, and had a six-week baby at home. I contacted three different companies for a full-service moving quote. T&C was very responsive, and was the perfect balance of professionalism and price. They came in on a Thursday to do preliminary packing, and loaded the truck on Friday. Our items were delivered in a timely fashion, and virtually no damage to our things. The total also came in almost 20% under estimate, which was a nice surprise. The only very minor issue was that they arrived at the end of their stated arrival window on both days, which delayed our exit of the home by a little bit.

They were excellent. We found them on Angie’s List. The service was great. They had more packing than they did when they showed here. They had around four guys packing and when they arrived, there were three. They used one truck for just one trip. They were here the next day. It took them all day to do the job. I have no complaints with the work. They were prepared more than we were. They were up the hill before we even got up there. It was great.

Every step of the way, the staff was wonderful. The packers arrived on time and packed the entire house in one day. Many of the fragile items have been unpacked and nothing was broken. The loading and delivery staff were tremendous. The driver, who supervised the load, was efficient and professional. He not only supervised but physically worked on loading and unloading. The day before delivery, he passed by the new house to check out the logistics before delivering the following day. He and his crew were truly excellent on both ends of the trip.

We used T&C on the recommendation of friends. T&C showed up on time and finished early for both packing and moving. Prepared us ahead of time for both days, and then walked us through things each day. Our belongings were meticulously packed and arrived intact. Movers took great care with furniture, including disassembly and reassembly. Utmost professionalism - one of the packers came across a $100 bill that we had long since forgotten was even there, and she made sure to bring it to us so that it wasn't lost in transit. Finally, the final bill from the movers failed to reflect the Angie's List discount, and the company was great at getting that all straightened out for us afterwards. Highly recommend!

First, T&C gave us the best bid of all. Town & Country gave a bid that was guaranteed, even if our eventual weight went over their estimate. They came promptly on both ends of our move, ready to go. We packed all of the boxes ourselves to save some money. The movers did a phenomenal job of wrapping the furniture carefully. All of the furniture came through without a scratch. Out of a full household, only two torchiere lamps got bent in this major move. We thought that was pretty phenomenal, given the amount of belongings making this long trip. We had a crew of four on the Arlington side, two of them on the Amherst side. They were all extremely strong. They were professional, friendly, and very hard working. Having researched about 12 companies for that move, we were very glad to have picked Town & Country. We recommended them to two different families (friends of ours) moving from Northern Virginia to Amherst. Both of those families were very pleased with the service provided by Town & Country. So while I may be the only one writing this review--and belatedly, our move in 2013--the first friend's mother's move in 2014, and just last week, our friends' move up here in 2015 all went well. We are all satisfied customers with Town & Country.

Town & Country was a tale of two companies: one before they picked up our stuff and one after. Before they picked up our stuff, they seemed eager to have our business and were quick to return our calls. Their estimate was one of the least expensive we found. On moving day, the movers were a pleasure to deal with and were careful with our belongings. After they had our stuff, however, it was frustrating to deal with them. On two occasions (while our stuff was in storage, before we were ready for delivery), we emailed them to request some information about our bill. Both times, they emailed us back and told us someone would get back to us, but they never did. Then, on the day they came to deliver our stuff to our new home, we learned that the actual price was significantly higher than the estimate--and they wouldn't unload the truck without payment in full. We did have them do more of the packing than originally planned (we weren't able to get as much packing done ourselves as we thought we would), so we knew the bill would be higher for that reason, but even the charges other than "packing" were much higher than the estimate. After we wrote to Town & Country to let them know about this situation, they admitted that their estimator had underestimated the weight of our belongings by almost one-half (estimated weight: 3861 pounds; actual weight: 6940 pounds), but they expressed no regret or apology. (The lack of an apology was surprising, considering that they acknowledged that their weight estimate was so far off.) Just a curt reminder that their estimate was non-binding and we had agreed to pay whatever the final price ended up being. The tone of their response was basically "your dilemma is your own fault because you shouldn't have believed our estimate." They did give us a refund of a fraction of the difference between the estimate and the actual price, which was nice but not nearly enough. There were some things we liked about Town & Country, but unfortunately, a business standing behind its price (or at least coming close) is a pretty big deal. If someone has a lot of flexibility with price, then Town & Country would probably be fine. But if you are trying to plan and you want some predictability, go with someone else.

It was the most pleasant and professional of all my moves! There was no loss and no breakage and the crew were the most professional and personable I have EVER used.

It was great. They have a great price. They did the work quickly and confidently. I didn't have any disadvantage.

We were very happy with the entire work, starting with the estimate all the way through delivery and the final payment. Ryan and Lina prepared the initial estimate and work order using the inventory list we sent to Ryan via Angie's List. They were patient and thorough answering our questions, and honored the 5% discount for members of Angie's List. Within 24 hours we have a signed work order and guaranteed dates for pickup from New York and delivery in Maryland, and a very reasonable payment schedule: $200 deposit, balance to be paid on day of delivery. On the day of pickup, Fred and his team showed up a bit late, due to traffic on George Washington Bridge. They called from the road to let us know of the delay. Once at our house, they were extraordinarily professional, hard working, competent and efficient; and at the same time courteous, pleasant, and friendly. The company must have done something right to motivate their workers to show up with such high morale. On the day of delivery, they arrived on time, and did another fabulous job unloading everything. At the end of the job, there was a bit of miscommunication regarding the final balance due. Elaine and Ryan were prompt to respond to our questions and resolved the discrepancy immediately. Our overall experience was a definite A+ and nomination for POH. Moving is always a huge headache. Town & Country Movers have done their part efficiently and reliably, making this the most enjoyable move we ever experienced. We will definitely call on Town & Country Movers again if we ever have to move again. We are also happy to recommend them with full enthusiasm and no reservation to anyone who moves in or out of the Maryland/DC/Virginia area.

The mover was very knowledgeable and did a great job. He was very professional and seemed to be doing this for a long. He walked through the house with us and took a look at what needed moved. I had no problem scheduling the estimate.

It was great! From the start this company was extremely professional and courteous. The estimate I received was actually higher than the amount we ended up paying (!) The movers arrived on time and as soon as we told them what we wanted, i.e. which things were not being moved, they got right to work. They even took an old desk out to the dumpster for us, which saved us having to disassemble it and carry it out to the trash ourselves. The move into the new building was not a piece of cake as everything had to be carried up a flight of steps before getting to the elevator, but I never heard any complaining and it didn't seem to slow anyone up. Everything was done by 12:30. In short, I would not hesitate to use Town & Country again or recommend them. I was referred to them by another moving company who had no availability on the day we needed them and it was probably the best thing that could have happened.

They were fantastic. In preparation, we did everything that they recommended. We boxed everything that they had advised us to. They got us moved with no damage and quicker than they had estimated. In turn, it saved us a lot of money. We saved over $1,400.00 off their estimate, by following their advice and getting everything prepared.

I am happy with them overall so far. I chose them because of the high rating on Angie's List. They are excellent people; they are friendly and very professional. They got back to me in a timely manner and have answered all of my questions.
