Description of Work: Town & Country Movers were very responsive to our last minute request to move furniture only from our old 9,000 SF home to our new 4,500 SF home.

The morning of the move, Town & Country packed my entire kitchen (which was very large and certainly included more cookware and glassware than a typical apartment kitchen), as well as other odds and ends such as lamps and stereo equipment. They provided all of the packing materials for these items, as well as my flat-screen TV and other fragile belongings. They transported everything to my new residence, and unloaded the entire truck quickly and very carefully (and re-assembled items they had to take apart pre-move).

Description of Work: I moved from a two bedroom apartment to a single family home. A move that should have took 3 to 4 hours max. The workers made sure to get thier 8 eight hours; costing me way more. They didn't break anything though.

They were VERY professional from the start to the very end.Most important to me was they showed up on time with competent people to perform my move. Starting with the estimate, the packing, the pickup and the eventual delivery. They were always there at the time they had said. No problems were encountered. They were the only company that offered to keep my goods for up to 2 weeks at no additional charge, while we settled on our house in FL. Other companies did offer this only after we told them that Town and Country had offered this service.Stronly recommend them and would certainly use them again.

Description of Work: I interviewed three movers before I chose Town and Country. Their reputation on Angie's List and the estimate given by sales manager, Jacky Davis, were what convinced me to contract with them. The move was from McLean, Va to Keswick, VA, a distance of 95 miles. Town and Country packed our items with care. They kept us informed at each step of the way. The gentlemen who performed the work were extremely efficient, polite, clean and cooperative.

Description of Work: Town and Country gave me a fixed price bid because most of my possessions were being taken to their own storage unit. So the bid was based on their estimates of 4 pallets to storage at the rate of $190/pallet (plus travel time, fuel surcharge, and insurance) for a total of $1,035. I explained in great detail that the building I was moving from had a small freight elevator and gave accurate information about distance from where they would park to the loading dock and from the elevator to my apartment. I called back twice to confirm that even if the move took longer than estimated the price would remain the same. They assured me it would. I later talked to the manager of scheduling, explaining that the move might take longer than estimated because of the size of the elevator. He was familiar with the building and said that was factored it. Twice I suggested they come to my apartment to do an estimate, but they said that would not be necessary. They arrived and began complaining about the freight elevator and the fact that packing had not been fully completed. I said that I would finish the packing--not to worry about that because if it was not completely done by the time they had loaded all of the boxes that were packed and the furniture--I would take responsibility for the rest. They moved very slowly and complained that it was hard to get things out because of all of the packed boxes. Why didn't they get those out of their way by loading them on the truck? By early afternoon, I told the foreman that I didn't think they would finish that day and suggested we call the office to say it was taking longer and possibly renegotiate the fixed rate because I knew they might not be happy about the time it was taking. When the office was finally contacted, the person I spoke to said the "the foreman and I talked this morning because he said there was no way they'd finish that day--We put out heads together and changed the job to an hourly rate basis." I asked why my head was not advised that they had changed the price without even telling me that." I said that I had to vacate the apartment by the next day at the latest--please get me your new estimates for both days. I received estimates that were higher based on an hourly rate, but I signed them and said to please come on time the next day. They came 3 hours late the next day, worked one hour, and then I just noticed they were gone. About 1/3 of the contents were still there. The crew never came back, the office would not return my phone calls that day or during the two weeks that followed. When I checked my bank account. I saw that they had immediately put through a payment to themselves using the card number I gave them for the original deposit. When I gave that number, I said they needed to promise to destroy the number immediately--that I would provide a different number for the work upon completion. So they essentially stole over $2000 from me, helping themselves to that much more than even their second estimate; walked off the job leaving me to deal with renting a private storage unit, rounding up some handy men who would help me if I paid them very well, pay an extra month's rent because of late move out. The company management simply would not return my dozens of calls until well after this mess was over. When I did talk ONE time with a manager, he was extremely rude. Refusing to tell me how much storage I should be paying (since I could see them preparing for the storage wars auction). I just sent them double what
