It went great! Moving is very stressful but Town & Country won my confidence right away. They gave us a very realistic binding estimate. It was clear they were competing on quality, not on price, but they were still offering a competitive price, and since the estimate was binding, we knew it couldn't go over that amount even if the estimate was wrong (it turned out to be a little over, so we paid slightly less than our estimate!) We were moving the contents of a 2-story house across the country, and we used both their packing and moving services. The packers were incredibly fast and efficient--they had estimated two days but could have done it in one if we'd been prepared for the huge team they sent! We had one minor incident during the packing where there was a little damage to the drywall when a painting was taken down, but they sent someone over to fix the next day and you couldn't even tell it had happened (we sent a picture to our buyers and they couldn't find anything to complain about!). The move itself was remarkably smooth and despite the distance took less than a week from loading day to move-in day (since we had so much stuff they were able to give us an exact arrival date, and they arrived when they said they would!). We waited until we had finished unpacking to leave a review, in case we found any problems, but miraculously only one casual plate was broken-- all our fine china was in perfect shape and our paintings were all fine as well. There was also one piece of wooden furniture that got a small ding on the side, but luckily that side faces the wall and no one has noticed. There was so little wrong we didn't even feel the need to file a claim, so I can't speak to that process, but after how quickly and professionally they handled the wall incident I have no doubt that they would handle anything equally well. No move is perfect, and moving cross-country is especially hard. What really matters is that problems are solved without hassle, and that is what Town & Country really delivers on. We loved the fact that they are independent movers and not some faceless van line that passes you off from regional office to regional office. Everyone involved was competent and professional. I would recommend them to anyone in the DC area who is moving any distance, especially long distance!

We had an excellent experience with Town& Country Moving & Storage from start to finish. Their estimator was excellent, their dispatcher, Paul was extremely helpful and the people at their facility in Gaithersburg, MD provided us with used moving boxes and excellent advice. We had not moved in 46 years and were very overwhelmed by the entire process. Our moving team of Mike and Walter were professional, courteous, and did an excellent job of packing and moving our furniture, large television, refrigerator, exercise equipment, and all of the boxes that we has packed. Everything arrived in excellent condition at our new home and was placed as directed with expertise. We highly recommend Town & Country!

Fine, moving crew where on time and meticulously packed items for move.

Estimator promised 5 packers and 5 movers/unpackers because it was a big job. They did send 4 packers, and they finished ahead of schedule. The next day they arrived at our new home with only 3 to unload and unpack. They worked from early in the morning until nearly 9:00 pm and were unable to finish. Calls to the company yielded no results. The movers/unpackers were great. Management's failure to provide the number of people originally planned to accomplish this job made for a difficult day and extra unpacking for us.

They did great. I would give them the highest marks possible.

Perfectly. Not one thing was damaged, and I had a lot of glass and fragile items. Very professionally packed, stored, and delivered on schedule. I plan to also leave them feedback at Yelp! and anywhere else I can think of. Their reviews are uniformly positive -- and with all the stress that goes into selling and buying a home, making the move as stress free and easy is extremely important. This entire team (the coordinators, estimate personnel, packers, movers, and delivery guys) is first rate!

They were on time, professional, polite and performed exactly as advertised. They accommodated my schedule and nothing was broken or lost. They were not the cheapest but I think that I got good value. The men on the crew were very pleasant to work with.

The movers were excellent. They arrived within 15 minutes of their arrival window and we were moved within 4 hours!!!! Will definitely use again.

They were very efficient and helpful. I had already packed all my things so they loaded them, and were very careful with all my fragile items, and they delivered them to my new home in a quick and timely manner. They even let me store some of my items with them for a few months! They also have reasonable prices!

I was very impressed with Town and Country Movers. Moving is hard and very stressful. I've done it several times in the past with professional moving companies, but I must admit T&C Movers was the best moving Cie I have had so far. Chris Plummer was a skilled estimator. Even though the estimate for my move was the highest of the 3 estimates I received, I’ve chosen this company because of their professionalism and thorough job done through good reviews in Angie’s list and Yelp. The final cost was almost exactly the estimate cost, despite some adjustments to accommodate my schedules. Everything about the move was exceptionally good. - Company management was very responsive during the scheduling. - The crew showed up on time on the appointed days, despite rain and snow -- and called ahead so I wasn't surprised. Victor, the team leader and his crew were highly skilled and hard-working. They were very careful with my antique furniture, extremely accommodating, friendly and responsive. They were great crew! My move was a really tough one – 90% of my furniture are big, heavy antique furniture. They wrapped everything to minimize damage and exposure to the rain and snow. They protect the wall and floor in my new Townhome. They did an EXCELLENT job! Their goal was to make sure I was satisfied even as tired as they must have been. I would use Town and Country again if I ever move again and would not hesitate to recommend them to others. I can't say enough of how wonderful they were. Their attitude and professionalism made my stressful days much easier.

The movers arrived on time and were extremely professional. Four drivers arrived in two 26 ft. trucks. They worked non-stop until the move was completed. No damaged to my furniture or property. The time Mark estimated was accurate and the full move was completed on time and on budget.

We were so impressed. Moving is hard. We've always done it ourselves, but we needed to move from DC to Wyoming and doing it all ourselves was not a realistic option. We got a lot of estimates (including pods, crates, rocket ships, etc), did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews, and chose Town & Country in the end because they were cost-competitive and it felt like they gave us the best chance of actually getting our things there. There are so many horror stories out there about moving across the country (not about T&C but you know what I mean) that I was anxious. Steve did the estimate and gave me confidence in the process, and Juan and his moving crew were so professional. I wish I'd let them pack more things, they knew what they were doing and were so much faster than us. Juan was in charge of the move out, the drive, and the move in and that was comforting. To the point: all of our things arrived intact and unbroken. Our stuff included antique furniture and delicate crystal and decorations and all of it arrived in good shape. I am so grateful. I would heartily recommend Town & Country to my friends and family and to you. This is my first Angie's List review - I used the List to find them and felt like I owed it to report back. We hired Town&Country to move our things back in 2013. When we were moved in to our new home, and going through some belongings in the garage, we discovered that some very expensive children's clothing that were packed into a plastic container with a lid on, were crumpled in the container and the lid was gone. Not only that, those expensive clothing had dog manure all over them, it looked like someone wiped their shoes onto the clothing. We were obviously not happy, and were highly disappointed with the movers. We paid them a good chunk of money to do the move for us.

I highly recommend this company. Even though the estimate for my move was the highest of the 3 estimates I received, I chose this company because of the professional and thorough job done by the company representative who created the estimate. The final cost was almost exactly the estimate cost. The men and woman who packed and moved my household goods were punctual, efficient, professional, courteous, and delightful to be around. The packing was excellent - nothing broken - and thorough. They checked all cabinets and drawers and if I had left anything behind, they were certain to find it and pack it. For the 12 days between moving out and before moving into my new home, my goods never left the truck trailer which was parked inside a climate controlled warefhouse. The same team that picked up my goods also delivered them and even though I had many items that went down to the basement, they moved it all with good humor. They also put together tables and beds and placed the furniture where I requested. There was one incident. Just as they finished and about to get in the truck to leave, my dog bolted from my new house and ran away. They stayed to help look for her and actually located her for me. As stressful as moving is, the wonderful staff of this company made it as easy as possible.

I called four businesses for estimates. Only two came out to make an on-site estimate; the other two emailed me estimates. I decided only to consider the two firms that visited -- Town and Country and Moyers. While both estimates were fairly close in price and both firms had decent reviews, I was very impressed with Doug's presentation about the firm and its services, and especially its experience with moves into senior buildings, including the one where I was moving. He took a great deal of time to inspect all the furniture and household goods to be moved, which also impressed me, because I felt that his estimate was more likely to be reliable. I selected Town and Country -- and I was extremely glad I did. The movers came exactly on schedule. They used a three man team, and Doug had told the local scheduler, Marvin, to send some very strong men; they didn't look all that strong, but I was amazed at how much they could carry on their backs. After a brief walk-through, the crew chief, who spoke excellent English, gave the men their marching orders and they set to work, quietly and quickly. Except for an occasional stop to drink water -- a good idea, as they were working up a sweat, they did not take breaks or chit-chat. I was amazed at how quickly they packed and filled boxes. I had packed most of the "easy stuff", and it had taken me days; tape guns and I don't get along well, and I had to make multiple trips to Home Depot to get supplies. They had absolutely everything they needed. The truck was loaded far earlier than I expected, and all I had to do, since I was returning the next day to do my move-out cleaning, was get in the car and drive to Rockville. Thankfully, the management at Gardens of Traville was all ready with my keys and so on, and had previously given me instructions for the drivers about where to park. As my building does not have a freight elevator, the movers had to work around elderly residents' comings and goings, but I checked frequently and saw that they were being very respectful, and letting them go first at all times. The men made many trips to my apartment, which involved not only the elevator, but navigating long hallways, and they appeared to be very careful of the walls and furnishings there. I had labeled all my boxes as to the contents, so the men generally knew where to put things. And the crew chief had labeled all the other boxes pretty well, too. A few boxes got put in the wrong rooms because the men didn't understand English perfectly, but it was a very minor issue. The men carefully arranged the area rug and furniture, and the crew chief listened to one minor change I wanted and made it, himself. Before I even realized it, the bed was assembled, the large mirror was attached to the dresser, the two sections of the breakfront were in place and the light in it plugged in, and so on. I knew from experience that movers don't do things like hanging pictures or reattaching lampshades, so I expected that. When everything was complete, the crew chief walked through the apartment with me, to ensure that I was satisfied. Then he reviewed the bill with me. Sure enough, he was very close to the estimate -- in fact, a bit under. There were no hidden charges or upcharges. The bottom line is that the firm was fantastic. Special kudos to the crew chief, who made sure that everything was done to my specifications, and to Marvin, the local arranger. But the real thanks must also go to the three-man team who did the heavy lifting. They were quick, neat, and professional. I have moved many, many times in my life. I have had corporate moves where a new job made all the arrangements, and some went well and some didn't. I've also had moves where my friends and I did all the work, as well as other local moves. I have to say that, although I haven't unpacked my pictures yet, this is the first time that I have seen no damage at all to my possessions, everything completed on time, and total professionalism from the moving crew, as well as a fair and accurate bill.

Working with Town & Country movers was excellent from start to finish. We had the initial consultation with Mark who was informative and helpful. I received a confirmation phone call the day before the scheduled move. On moving day, the truck arrived early! We were happy to get going with the move-out. The three-man crew worked tirelessly and were very methodical and organized in their process. They asked questions when needed and otherwise took care of everything. It was the same process once we arrived at the new house. We discussed where to put what furniture in the new space and they immediately got to work. We were nervous about dealing with a move in general but the entire process was excellent and made our moving day significantly less stressful!

Everything about the move was exceptionally good. Company management was very responsive during the scheduling and estimating process. The crew showed up early on the appointed day--and called ahead so we weren't surprised. They were extraordinarily efficient--each of the four stops went much more quickly than we anticipated. They were also highly skilled and hard-working. Not only were they fast, they were also very careful. The crew was also quite friendly and responsive. They constantly asked us what we wanted to have done with particular pieces and made sure we were satisfied every step of the way. Because of their efficiency, the total cost was well under the original estimate.

Excellent. Hard workers, fast, never broke a thing.
