Michael Strosnider (Project Manager for Shanco) would not respond to numerous emails and phone messages requesting the estimates. Two weeks of waiting for a response. If this company is not interested in the work the least they could do would be to call me and let me know that. Very unprofessional and I will not recommend them for any work.

All the gutters and downspouts were replaced in two phases. We were delighted with both installations. During second installation it was discovered that one of the downspouts was incorrectly installed by the previous owners. Without any additional cost to us additional downspouts were installed routing the water in the proper direction.

We thought we might need a new roof (ours is a flat one) and asked Shanco for an estimate. Phil came out and spent a lot of time looking at the leaks and checking the roof, etc. He diagnosed that the primary issue was with how our second floor deck had been installed--it was pushing water into the ceiling and down the walls. In addition, they would need to repair the entire base of the 3rd floor deck which meant pulling it all up. Two skylights needed to be replaced. Lastly, there were spots on the roof, most frequently around windows, woodwork where water was coming into our third floor. Bottom line: we needed repairs and not a new roof. Shanco completed the work in 3 days. They did beautiful work repairing the areas damaged by water and replacing the drywall. We had one small issue with the drywall not drying properly and they returned immediately to fix it. Their work was completed 3 months ago and we have had monsoon level rains. No leaks. Anywhere. We are pleased with the expertise that allowed them to correctly diagnose the problem. Some folks told us we needed a roof.

We are happy with the results of their work. We would recommend them to others. We plan to continue using them.

We were very please with the roof repair and gutter replacement we had performed for us by Shanco. The company was good to work with and very responsive to our questions and concerns about the project.

The communication with Shanco was excellent. I was impressed with the office?s personnel: they e-mailed me to confirm my appointment and they kept me up to date at every step of the job. The Project Manager, Dan H., also courteously came to my house to provide an estimate and give me some additional advice. The installers were very professional and did a beautiful job on the house. They also (thankfully!) cleaned up very well after themselves. I would recommend them, and plan to use them again in the near future.

The total experience working with Brad from Shanco Companies was excellent. I told him about the water leak from the gable during any windy rain storm. He did a full inspection of the gable and determined there was no flashing along the bottom of large gable vent. I appreciate his honesty because when I asked him if we should have the gable replaced with a smaller one, he explained the reason why having a large gable is beneficial for the roof in the long run. I also requested if they can remove the two older satellite dishes from the roof. Shanco crew was professional and did a wonderful job cleaning up. I would recommend Shanco Companies.

Shanco Companies were very good.I thought they were a little on the higher end with the price but they had excellent customer service and they did excellent work.

The person coming for estimates seems professional.

A Shanco rep came out on time on the day scheduled. He inspected inside the house, outside the house, and back inside the house, both in the basement and one floor up. He used sensors, touch, and his own visual observations. The rep explained that the siding looked exactly as it should look, but that the sliding door looked problematic. He explained the specific things that looked wrong with the door, and recommended that the door be replaced. After some comparison shopping and additional consultations with other companies, I chose Shanco on the basis of the amount of time spent on the inspection and the detailed explanations given. The order was placed. The company sent instructions on how to prepare for the work. The replacement had to be rescheduled for some reason that I can't recall (it might have been weather). The replacement was scheduled for a couple days later. A project manager arrived that morning, looked around, and explained the process. The workmen arrived on time, worked diligently, and answered questions as they came up. An hour or so after the workmen were finished, the project manager came back to inspect the job. He noticed that the locking mechanism on the door handle had not bee set correctly by the workmen, so he quickly disassembled, reset, and reassembled the handle. The door has solved the problem of water in the basement.

After getting three estimates, we selected Shanco to rebuild our two decks and to reface a cinder block wall to match the rest of the house. They provided the lowest bid, even after I added on some items. All the staff at Shanco were very professional and responsive. Doug was the project manager, who did the original estimates, managed the project from beginning to end and kept me informed at all steps in the process. The job involved use of 2 different 2-man crews, one for the decks and one for the wall. Doug was on-site at the beginning and end of each job and stopped every day to assure the project was on track and that all of my questions were answered. They were very responsive to any questions or concerns that I had. Both of the crews were very hard workers, were excellent craftsmen, were polite and answered all of my questions. They left the job site clean at the end of every day, which was very much appreciated. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend Shanco for future jobs. They did an outstanding job on both decks, the new wall matches perfectly with the rest of the house and the project management was top-notch.

We got an estimate that seemed very reasonable. They gave us different options for different sized gutters. They also told me it would likely me a week before I could get them installed, but they were actually able to come the next day after my initial payment. They installed them in one day and they cleaned up so well after themselves that you could not tell they were here except for the new great-looking gutters. They were timely and very professional. Their administrative office was very easy to work with!

The estimator, office administrative staff, site supervisor and 2 installers were responsive and courteous. All conversations and appointments with the administrative office were confirmed by Email. The estimator arrived on Monday; the job was initiated and completed on Friday of the same week. All empty holes left by the old gutters and downspouts were sealed with caulk. The other 2 companies that provided estimates refused my request to caulk the old holes even though I asked each one twice. The estimates from the other 2 companies were close to Shanco's figure (which was slightly lower than the other 2), but Shanco's willingness to caulk and to include caulking instructions in the written contract was the real tie breaker. Shanco's on-site supervisor and 2 installers brought all needed materials with them, were exacting in their measurements and installation, answered questions upon completion of the job, and cleaned up thoroughly.

Reviewed information from an article located at the library as what to ask a contractor/company for specifics about their product, years in business, whether they were licensed/bonded,list of families they serviced, etc. Reviewed Angie's list of roofers. Received a recommendation from a friend who used Shanko Received three bids and chose Shanko. Dan Haske, Sales Representative, provided us with a complete history of the company, inspected our attic for any damages caused by rain, weak boards, etc. (spouse accompanied Mr. Haske while attic was being assessed) climbed on roof to assess and measure outside roof, provided samples and throughout presentation was professional, answered all questions and left brochures explaining the company. He stated he would return to his office, review his notes and provide us with a contract for our review. Mr. Haske called within a few days stating the contract was ready for review and we agreed on a date to meet. The proposal and contract was clear, stating all necessary work to be done, plus the price. We had only one small adjustment regarding the cost of the plywood to be used. Mr. Haske willingly agreed to the adjustment. One-third deposit was required. As I had difficulty selecting the roof color, Mr. Haske arranged for a senior member of Shanko to come to our home, used his Ipod to take pictures of our house with the various roof colors. This was very helpful and a color was easily chosen.

A Shanco rep came out to inspect the damage and provided a quote within a few days of the call. He was very professional and thorough and worked with us to revise our insurance request to be reimbursed for the repairs. It took a couple of months to schedule the service, but that was reasonable because we had to wait for the weather to be nice enough to allow someone to crawl around on the roof (and there was no problem that had to be fixed immediately). The scheduling staff were great and kept us up to date on when things would happen and what was going on. The actual repairs took place over 2 days. The crew worked quickly and thoroughly. They cleaned up everything (including the damaged bits that were laying in the back yard and I didn't think they'd notice) and took it all with them. The repairs look great. Shanco had great follow up too. Before sending us the bill, they called and went through all of the repairs and made sure we were happy with everything that was done. And then they sent cookies to thank us for choosing them to do the work. They provided a great experience and I would recommend them without reservation and use them again without a hesitation.

I called three Angie's List roofing contractors & secured bids from 2. Both bids were comparable @ $275. Shanco arrived the next working day after I called to provide a bid. Mr. Hildebrand described the situation as he saw it & suggested a price that was the minimum they charge for sending out a crew for an hour's work. He suggested I could do it or they would be happy to do it for me. I wanted the problem areas identified to be throroughly cleaned & prepared & to have a warranty (1 year for a repair), so I elected to have Shanco do the work. The proposal arrived in my email Inbox before the day was out & Shanco scheduled the appointment for 2 weeks later. I received an email reminder for the appointment, but service was delayed one day due to weather (& I was notified of the delay via email even though it was obvious no one was going to repair the roof during the rain). I received several email inquires after-the-fact to be sure I was satisfied w/ the work. I assured them that I was. I am contemplating a new deck & I will be sure to ask Shanco to provide a bid.

it went without a hitch. at the free estimate i was given several options at different price points. the workmen came when i was told they would and did the job in one afternoon.

C rating overall. A few months later they were supposed to replace a patio door which had to be custom cut. The door was delayed and I didn't get it in November, but finally got it in February. Reason for the delay was that the company that cut the door had cut it incorrectly, so it needed to be re-done. To the company's credit, their president was nice enough to come personally to my house and apologize for any delays and errors and they gave me a significant discount on the door. I ended up knowing many of the staff, and I think everyone was trying their best. The deck problem stemmed from them not discussing with me before changing the design, so I would advise if you plan to use them - talk through your expectations and discuss design changes in advance! I would actually use them again, however, since, the work quality was excellent - the carpentry was outstanding, the door installation was quick and clean. So, overall, I am happy with what I got, but it was a bit frustrating getting here.

From start to finish all went well.

From the initial consultation to the final product Shanco was wonderful to work with. Steve Sweeney was very responsive to our needs and worked with our budget to create a design which not only addressed our wet basement issues but which resulted in a beautiful front porch/walkway/patio. I changed my mind a couple of times as to materials and design, and had many questions Steve was very patient, responsive and accomodating. He even worked with our Home Owner's Association to get the plan approved which other companies were not willing to do. The work began exactly when stated and Jorge and his crew were extremely polite, professional and neat. Someone was always available to address any questions we had as the work progressed and it was completed in a very timely manner. I had a couple of very minor concerns upon completion and they were immediately addressed and resolved to our satisfaction. I would not hesistate to recommend Shanco Companies or to use them again for another project. Both my husband and I were very pleased with the service they provided.

I discovered water coming through a light fixture near my chimney one day when it was raining hard, and so had them come out to check what the problem might be and give me an estimate. Dan indicated that he didn't think that it was the flashing near the chimney (what I thought it might be), and may be coming through some cracks in the metal framed window, as it was a driving rain. He advised that instead of starting to tear thing apart, to wait to see if it happens again, and take further steps at that point. I appreciated his honesty and will definitely call them again.

They did an excellent job, the work does promptly and I had no trouble talking with them, and they do very high quality work.

The crew who performed the work was exceptional. All insulation was packed perfectly. The wood OSB had no noticeable missing cuts. The house wrap and hard side insulation was intricately installed. They told me to purchase new light fixtures and they installed these in place of the old ones. Seams were minimized on the siding and it looked like everyhting fit together perfectly on the entire job. It is pretty amazing since the house itself was built in 1969. The crew was able to hide the refirgerant lines for the A/C system which in itself was incredible and it makes these unsightly lines hardly noticeable. J-Channel and weather stripping was installed expertly and caulking was applied in key areas to insure optimum weather proofing. The crew itself was extremely freindly and hard working. They worked 13-14 hour days every day. They only stopped briefly for lunch. A tremendously hard working crew. When they were done, they picked up and swept up after themselves (and the other people who had left debris before them). The crew was a sub contractor who generally only does siding so they have become very skilled at their craft. Not to worry, Shanco, oversees the team, provides all the materials and the technical support to the team. Shannon and Phil of Shanco did a great job making sure everything was completed perfectly. I can honestly say that no-one will do a better job than these guys if you want your house sided. It was trully an outstanding effort and I have NEVER seen a siding job come out so well. My wife and I are overwhelmed at the outside look of our home and the care that went into making this come out so good.
