It took a lot of back and forth and the sales rep was not as responsive as we would have liked. The job was performed quickly, but clean up was not thorough and the supervisor left the site long before the job was finished.

It went fine, they gave me competitive quote. I also received an Angie's List discount for being a member.

Shanco designed and built a deck and covered porch with a lovely view of the trees in our yard and the street beyond it.. But the project took significantly longer than expected, primarily because the company sent a single carpenter to do nearly the entire job. That carpenter worked irregular hours, sometimes arriving late, other times leaving early and once or twice not showing up at all. Toward the end of the project, another carpenter had to straighten part of the railing that was leaning inward and tweak the door frame to install the storm door properly. Ultimately, we got the beautiful deck we paid for, but Shanco gets an overall B, not an A, for the less than satisfying construction process. At the end of the day, would we hire Shanco again? Maybe.

Got a new roof and some soffit vents. Shanco was very ice to deal with, prompt in getting things done, and left the area around the house cleaner than they found it! The roof looks great.

One of Shanco's project directors visited the property and explained the nature of the products fully. The estimate was less expensive than one other company, but more expensive than another. Greater confidence in Shanco's ability to complete the job with due care and attention made us decide in their favor. Window replacement was relatively straightforward and fast - one day only on a small house. There was one hitch when the team began to take out windows on an enclosed porch that was up for demolition, but the problem was quickly sorted out by team managers. One exterior door and the sliding patio doors were installed with no problems, but the other two exterior doors presented difficulties because the frames are not standard size: i.e. smaller than current building sizes and the supplier made errors with incomplete information about the product. It took several months to sort this out and find the right model, but Shanco's project director persisted and eventually suitable doors were fitted at no extra cost. Since completion of the job there have been minor problems that required adjustment of a door and replacement of a torn screen on a window, both of which were dealt with promptly. At all times the project directors were very courteous and helpful in seeing the job through to completion. The teams for window and door replacement worked very efficiently and cleared the site of debris. We have no hesitation in recommending Shanco to other members, and we now enjoy windows that open and close without a struggle as well as a warmer and quieter interior in our home as colder weather sets in.

I chose to contact this company based on Angie's List ratings. We agreed on a time for a company representative to visit and review the work to be done. The company sent a confirmation e-mail shortly after my phone call and sent a reminder e-mail the day before the visit. On Monday, the representative arrived on time and spent at least an hour assessing the work to be done. He walked the roof and concluded that the slate section of the roof could be repaired, but an asphalt shingle section of the roof on the rear of the house should be replaced. I thought his assessment was very fair. He measured the exterior door that needed to be replaced and measured all 29 windows in the house. I noted that I was unsure whether I wanted vinyl replacement windows or would prefer wood clad windows. We discussed the brand of vinyl windows that his company generally uses, and I noted that I had been considering Andersen wood windows. I asked him to provide estimates for all the work to be done and to price both the vinyl windows and the Andersen 400 series windows. He indicated that the estimate would take about a week. About ten days later, I called to inquire about the status of the estimate. The representative was not available, but I was told that he would return my call. He did call back, and said he was awaiting some information regarding the windows. He said he would let me know when he was about to send the estimates. After four and a half weeks, I have received no estimate and have not received any explanatory emails or phone calls. I can think of nothing in our discussions that would have discouraged him from preparing an estimate. I am moving forward with another contractor on all the work described above. It is highly unlikely that I would consider this company for future work.

AMAZING!!! This company, especially the former pilot did an outstanding job on the remodel and addition. Cannot thank Shanco enough for finishing the job.

They provided us an estimate and we decided to use them mainly based on the positive feedback for the company on Angie's List. They showed up on time and had all the gutters installed before I got home from work. The estimator was very professional, very low key with regards to trying to upsell. He was genuinely interested in just providing what we wanted. We have not had a bit of a problem with the job done and would absolutely use them again for any other home repair.

Everything went very well, with the exception of a one month delay before we received the estimate for the work to be done. We heard good things about the company so we went with them anyway. And I'm glad we were tolerant, the work is solid, waterproof, and just in time before the Fall's rainy weather. I'd recommend them, just stay on top of the communique.

The roof work done by Shanco was great. The estimate was professional and clear. The scheduling was simple. The crew arrived on time, and completed the work in the time estimated. They were professional and careful. I was concerned about damage to the flower beds from the work on the roof. Shanco promised to do their best not to damage the garden. You would have barely known they were there afterwards. Everything was cleaned up really nicely. Some additional plywood was needed to complete the work. The pricing for the plywood had already been agreed upon in the contract. Mike who was in charge of the crew working called to let me know about it before the work was done. Everything went great. This was the third time I've used Shanco for work on my house and will use them again in the future.

I filled out an online form to get an estimate and was promptly contacted with a date and time. The project manager Dan came out and spent plenty of time assessing the situation, emailing me a detailed bid a day or so later. He explained a few options for ventilation, but I decided to keep my existing ridge vent. The price was below but still comparable to many of the other bids I received. We had to reschedule once due to rain. A two-man team finally arrived in the morning and got to work, replacing small strips of wood over the entire length of the roof near the ridge vent. They called in and left around lunch (they were on top of the room 97% of the time). That night when I went into my attic to look, there was a lot of moldy plywood left, as well as some cracked pieces of wood where the new ridge vent was installed. I wasn't pleased with the location of the new bathroom vents either. I took some pictures and e-mailed them around 10pm to the project manager Dan, doing my best to question (not accuse) the installers of wrongdoing. Dan emailed back that night mentioning that the moldy wood looked okay but he would send the team back to fix the cracked pieces. The next week when the team came back, I asked them to please ensure that the wood was just discolored and not moldy. They spent much more time in the attic this time (as opposed to being on the roof). As a result, they were working most of the day, and replaced almost 3 or 4 times more pieces of plywood. There still one piece I question, but both the workers and Dan assured me that it's fine. They do provide a warranty, so we'll see, but they're the experts. The bathroom vents could not be moved at this point. While I'm not thrilled that they had to come out a second time since the problems would have been noticed if they had just stepped inside, I am pleased that they stood by their work enough to apologize to me promptly after hours and send the team back to correct the mistakes. The job they did the second time around was the job I expected the first time around. It's entirely possibly I did not communicate with them correctly, or that the project manager did not communicate correctly with the installation team. Regardless, the situation was more or less resolved at no additional cost to me.

This company was called after receiving reports from another company that we found dubious. In the end, we decided not to replace our roof right away. The rep was punctual, professional, friendly, honest, and very accomodating--- unlike the other company who inspected our attic/roof the day prior. The price was right also as compared to other estimates we had received with no cut in quality for products. I have since recommended this company to all those we know who were considering having roof work done.

Called to make an appointment for an estimate for new roof and siding. Mr. Hilderbrand came to my home at the appointed time. Seemed cordial and courteous enough. Made his presentation, looked around the house and indicated he would be getting back to me with an estimate. After not hearing from him for a week, i emailed looking for the estimate. Mr. Hilderbrand apologized for not providing the estimate sooner and represented that i would have it within the next day or two. Never heard another word. Total waste of my time!!

Everything went very well. I didn't know how old my existing roof was (I've been in my house for almost 18 years), or whether I even needed a new one. Dan Haske was able to show me, with digital photographs, what bad shape my existing roof was in and easily convinced me I needed to replace it. An estimate was promptly provided, including options for different types of shingles. The job was completed, as promised, in one day. The crew did such a good job of cleaning up after themselves that you could not even tell they had been there. Once the old roof was removed, the crew determined that about 300 linear feet of wood needed to be replaced. Because of the extensive replacement, Shanco ended up cutting in half the contract price per foot for the wood -- they did this on their own, without me asking them to do so. The staff I dealt with throughout were very professional, stayed in touch with me to let me know when the job would be scheduled (it had to be rescheduled a few times due to weather) and letting me know what I needed to do to prepare for the work. I am very pleased with the result, and I thought the overall price was extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Shanco if you need a new roof or roof repairs.

The quality of the work was high, and manner in which it was performed very professional. The company also held back on sending me the final invoice until we had a few days of rains to make sure everything worked out for us even though I made no such request. Highly recommended on all fronts : quality, cost, and professionalism.

Fabulous! Shanco cleaned out the gutters and took photos for me since I was so shocked that the gutters were full given their 3 story location and lack of surrounding trees. They also replaced a gutter over the garage with a beautifully installed larger gutter and downspout. I didn't need to be home during these events and couldn't be happier with the results. They came highly recommended by a family member who used them as they were the only company of 3 that came out and appropriately determined the cause of a leak in his home and fixed it! I look forward to using them in the future to clean out my gutters and eventually replace the rest of the gutters on my home.

Dan was very prompt (came between the given time of 8:30-9am). He introduced himself and provided me with his business card right off the bat. He asked me what the roof issues were and I explained what our home inspector fround. He walked into the street to get a better look at our roof, used binoculars, and took pictures (front and back of the house and the attic as well). Dan explained what he found and stated that the issues were minor and that we did not have to worry. He did mention that there is a minimum for work to be done but he provided a rough estimate of the work and I was pleasantly surprised. (Dan sent a follow up email of the actual estimate later that same day.) Dan also mentioned that Shanco would not be able to come out to make repairs for another 2-3 weeks... that may seem like a while but I appreciate that he was upfront about that. As Dan was leaving, he provided me a folder with a list of references (addresses and type of work performed) as well as his license and company's license. He also explained that the people who would be making the repairs are Shanco employees, not subcontractors. On a side note, scheduling was very easy. I received an email confirmation as well as an email reminder, both which included the time and the person who was coming out to do the estimate.

It was a great and easy experience. They came out, gave us an estimate and we accepted it. When we signed the contract, they literally came two days later and completed the work in three hours. They cleaned up all the mess and off they went. They were wonderful but they were a little late on the day that they came and they did not call which was frustrating. We would for sure use them again in the future.

Our initial contact was with Steve Sweeney who was a pleasure to work with. Mike Flynn's workmanship exceeded our expectations. He worked during the two hottest weeks of the summer and even though he was in the broiling sun most of the day, he put in long hours. His attention to detail was outstanding -- every cut was absolutely precise. The finished deck is a work of art. We appreciated the project manager's (Eric) daily communications and check in. Very professional company who always came when expected. I highly recommend Shanco Companies and we will definitely use them again for other future home projects.

Satisfied with the work. They arrived as scheduled. Worked all day. Were not intrusive. Quality is great. Interaction on the phone and in the showroom was very professional, helpful, and honest (e.g. didn't get any upsell push). Only negative, and it's not major, is that when they didn't finish on the first day, they left and didn't let me know what the plans were - didn't know when to expect them back, particularly since the next day was a Saturday. A one-man crew did return to work all day Saturday to complete, so they did follow through on completion without any lag or gap, so it was just a slight gap in communication, not in commitment or quality. Clean up was pretty good, but a few nails and staples left around on the deck and in the grass. I will use them again when I need other work done.

These guys were wonderful! The staff was very friendly. I asked for a certificate of insurance, which some vendors will not give me or will give to me very begrudgingly, and they sent it to me very quickly. Their rate was reasonable. The estimator was good. The technicians were very thorough and nice to deal with. I will definitely use them in the future.

Everything went fine. Doug was their project manager and a pleasure to work with. The new deck and the door look great. Sean and his crew did a good job under some quite difficult weather conditions. Lots of rain over the last couple of weeks caused significant project delays. However, we are very satisfied with the work we got and would use Shanco again.

Great customer service. Shanco's planners and associates were highly professional. This reflected in the quality of their work. I would certainly recommend their services. Make sure to check their website, too. I was able to find a better discount than what was listed on Angie's List.

They showed up on time for the estimate and for the work. They brought in a full team and got the job done in a day. They did the job right.

I shopped around and based my selection on price and Angies List Ratings for similar work. We are very happy with the end results. Doug worked with us on the initial selections and a small change. Eric monitored the job and the crews were on time, pleasant, worked hard and did a great job. Shanco definately delivered and I would highly recommend them.
