Our salesperson, Michael came over and was extremely polite and friendly. You could tell he just really wanted to make us happy and give us what we wanted. The customer service level was above and beyond our expectations. Of all the contractors, he was the only one that gave us a price that very same day. Everyone else said they would get back to us and most of them we never even heard from. After we signed the contract, Michael went with us to tile shops and many other stores to help us design our dream kitchen. He even gave us a 3D CAD drawing of what our future kitchen would look like. With allowances to spend on what we wanted, it made the whole process very simple and uncomplicated and actually kind of fun! After our kitchen design, the remodel started two days later. I couldn't believe how prompt they were. Well, less than two weeks later, our "dream kitchen" was completed. I can't express how happy we are with the whole process from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend Premier Home Pro, they were not the most expensive, but they were not the least expensive. Michael and Alan just made the whole process a breeze and I really appreciate it! One issue that came up - The tile that was delivered was not the tile we ordered. I called Michael and he resolved the problem immediately. It pushed the start date back one day, but all was taken care of and overall not really a big issue.
Description of Work: We had a complete kitchen remodel in our condo in Fells Point. We had all appliances replaced and added an island, backsplash, and tiled the floor.

Thanks for the nice review! We did have a few delivery challenges but you and your family were considerate and did not over react to the vendor challenges. Your place looks great and you were fantastic to work with! Can't wait to tackle the next three projects you have contracted for in the new year! Michael and I both thank you for your business and for the opportunity to add you to our growing list of satisfied clients.

All work was performed in a professional manner. The project was completed on time with no cost overages. Contractor cleared away all debris and when finished, the new office was able to be occupied the next day. This client is also one of our trade partners. He is a certified structural engineer who has not only seen our work, but has often sent us job opportunities like damaged foundation walls to repair. He designs many structural plans for us and knowing us and having seen our work for years, asked Premier HomePro to finish his wife's office. We completed the job on budget and in a timely manner. His wife is the real recipient of the project and now has a great space in which she can work from home. If you need a design build company to help you with an addition, structural repair or any other larger building project, Premier HomePro has the resources to accomplish the task. methodically most of the work was done while I was at work, it appeared that the put in quite a bit of time doing my deck, and it showed. Based on when I saw them show up and leave, I think they put in about 5 or 6 10 hour days on my deck. They worked methotically, and did not appear to be rushing through the process. The price that I got from them was not the lowest price around, but as Alan said when he was giving me the quote, you sometimes get what you pay for. After seeing the work, I would believe it.

Let me first start by saying this client was a delight to work with. We first met in the summer and he was all about getting the work done "right". We were busy with many projects and agreed to wait until fall (after he and his fiancee were married) to begin the project. I put one of our top carpenters; Andre' Hunter on the job. Heand his team are highly skilled and proficient. Although the job took a few extra days then planned, we did not increase the price of the project and delivered a superb product to the homeowner on time and on budget. At Premier HomePro, we believe in doing the right thing the first time, taking our time and making every attempt to estimate each job accurately to ensure superior client satisfaction. We try hard to please everyone we do business with. As of the date of this review, we have maintained an "A" rating on Angie's List for 5 years in a row and plan on keeping it that way. I attribute our unprecedented growth (during a recession) to our commitment to maintaining the best customer experience we can deliver, hiring the best people we can find and implementing our mission statement: MISSION STATEMENT Do the right thing : Always be fair and honest. To homeowners. To co-workers. And to vendors, contractors and suppliers. Do what’s right and good things will happen. Love what you do : “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” We get the best and brightest because we attract people with a passion for what they do and a desire to be a part of something special. Protect the environment: We believe in our future, your future and in future generations. As new “green” materials are developed and made available to our industry, we will strive to implement them into every job. Contribute to the community : Premier HomePro, believes in giving something back and strives to be active in community affairs. We are dedicated to improving the homes of our clients but also the lives of those less fortunate. Premier HomePro, has established HomePro House. This charitable arm identifies and provides volunteer services, resources, and funding to organizations in the area and directly to those in need of our assistance. Industry leading warranty : At Premier HomePro, we back all of our work with an industry leading two year limited warranty. Ask our competitors about theirs and compare it to ours. Our goals are clear; keep the client happy and they will refer their friends and neighbors. It’s all part of the Premier HomePro Advantage. HERE ARE THE TOP REASONS CLIENTS CHOOSE PREMIER HOMEPRO OVER THE COMPETITORS : • In-house design and architectural capabilities • Workman’s compensation • $2 million dollar liability coverage • Licensed Bonded and Insured in Maryland and Washington DC • One stop shop for all your remodeling needs • Track record of finishing on time and on budget • Creative design professionals to help you improve your living space • Experienced field supervision • Carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers, drywall mechanics, installation specialist and consultants who know their jobs and do them well • Down-home attention to detail • Veteran owned and operated • Awesome results-oriented leadership • “A” rated on Angie’s List and recipient of the 2010 and 2011 Angie’s List Super Service Award • Industry leading two year warranty • Builder with over 35 years of experience in both commercial and residential construction • 1000s of satisfied customers

I submitted this to you after the original job. It has been well over 9 months and I really don't remember specifics, probably because I really wanted to forget the experience. Sorry
Description of Work: They said that they would give you an appraisal and blueprints. The blueprints were hand drawn not good quality and the person sent out to give me the appraisal gave me an ultimatum. Not a great experience.

Angie's List asked us to advertise on the "BIG DEAL" for basement design a year ago November. Angies List created an offer for us and published it. 151 members bought the offer for a regularly priced at $500, now $50 for a basement design consultation. It seems some people had expectations for a full blown set of drawings for $50 which was not what was advertised. It was a design consultation only with a quick set of drawings. This was not supposed to be a major event and has since created some issues mostly surrounding failed expectations. In the future, we will more closely read the fine print advertised to Angie's List members to make sure we limit out exposure. In addition, we thank this person for the feedback. We too found this not to be such a "Big Deal" or "Good Deal" for us either with so many clients expecting a full set of CAD drawings for $50 (which was never advertised in the first place). On another note, we visited this client in good faith, delivered what we had advertised and apologize if the consultant was pushy. Its never our intention to "be pushy" but we are a sales organization and sales consultants sometimes want to sell stuff to clients. We wish you the best and hope that you find someone to design your basement for the right price.

Some people want it cheap, some want it done correctly, with permits using licensed tradesmen. Hard to create a plan, get it permitted, use a licensed, insured and bonded company with a great reputation, licensed electrician, pass inspections and paint and floor it for $4000. We have a saying at Premier HomePro, pay a little more, cry once. Alan Stevens, President, Premier HomePro

The drywall repairs and painting went very quickly, done in 2 days. As the crew moved through my work order they found other issues with the condo, which I expected to a degree. Alan Stevens took over as liaison at this point, and called me with the problems, and the solutions in the same calls. He was very knowledgeable about the best direction to go with each solution, keeping in mind my goal of a quality rental unit. He also kept in mind that I was not a wealthy investor, and that I had not chosen this situation of trying to remodel a condo in bad shape, but that I was trying to make the best of the hand I was dealt, with a very small budget to get a lot of work done. Alan is very cordial, but clearly a hard charger and one who is focused on what it takes to get a job done, and done well. I appreciated his hands on approach especially as I'm 6 hours away and could not walk the property during the work. He and his assistant Jackie were very kind to send me digital pictures of all the work along the way, so it was almost as good as being there. We ended up having to update the shower plumbing in both bathrooms, bathroom exhaust fans and vanities, tub hardware, regrout the bath tub surrounds, new electric outlets and light switches throughout the condo, and new door hinges and knobs throughout. Then they changed out the ancient kitchen sink and counter top, replaced the food disposal, dropped in a beautiful (and affordable) hardwood laminate flooring in the kitchen, a hood exhaust over the stove, new overhead lighting throughout, and some other minor repairs. Alan spoke with me almost every day after paint was done, going over the job and the needs of the day. I really never expected this level of interaction, especially from the company owner. He helped smooth over some other communication issues within his crew and took care of everything in the end. We have since had another company install carpet and the unit is ready to be rented to a very lucky tenant in Laurel. We were able to save the kitchen cabinets, the bathroom floors and tubs. Every other part of the unit has been fully remodeled, and it really looks great.
Description of Work: I obtained a small 2br/2ba condo earlier this year in Laurel through family. The former tenant apparently had medical issues that kept them from maintaining the unit properly for many years. I contacted several contractors in the area for estimates, but Brian Matthews was one of only two to actually respond. He provided a low bid for basic paint and repairs. I expressed to him that my very specific work request I had emailed to him was not fully addressed. He came back with a labor figure for the work request I had submitted, with me as the owner being responsible for materials. He assured me he had 5-6 guys who would have the work done in a week. Very encouraging since I need the place rented quickly to recover the cost of rehabbing the unit. His contract included my work order as an addendum, so I felt very secure that we were on the same page.

Good people are treated as great clients. We treat everyone the same but some folks get extras because they are kind, fair, have realistic expectations and realize that home remodeling is a tedious, imperfect science with dust, debris, noise and is a major imposition. We do our best to keep our pricing fair, our men trained, and adhere to our mission statement and "do the right thing" always. Thanks for being such a great client. Now please pay your final bill! Its overdue.... :-)

We knew that this was an old house from the 1930s-40s and we would probably expand our to-do list once we got going--and we sure did! Alan Stevens and his crews and his trade partners were very obliging and allowed us to change and add to our designs as we went, with very little difficulty. Due to extending our original requirements, along with inevitable delays here and there, work did extend past our expected due date. However, it was entirely worth it! Beginning with an extensive design phase, Alan guided us through what we needed to choose. He taught us quite a lot about what is feasible and what is necessary, and where costs hide in a renovation. This took several months, and we ended this phase with a firm contract that gave us 'allowances' for choosing various items, such at tile, paint, and fixtures. Construction started in mid-February 2012 with re-roofing and repairing an ongoing problem with our waste water exit. Another vendor had repaired it twice, but the work had proved somewhat faulty, leading to repeating issues with root clogs. Premier Homepro re-set the pipes and leveled them and refilled the trenches. Because the wastewater exited right from under the basement bathroom, well, we really needed to replace that bathroom after all those overflows! They worked their way from the bottom of the house to the top. As the basement bathroom was going in, they brought in a trade partner, ARS, to install air conditioning. We had only had window units before this! The open ceiling in the unfinished part of the basement made putting in conventional AC feasible for the basement and main floor, and they put in floor and ceiling vents and ran flexible ducting, accommodating our old house. Rather than run ducting over walls, we decided that a Mitsubishi mini-split would work for the top floor, which had a very open plan, having been turned into something of a loft by previous owners. This turned out very well, although having the hottest July on record did challenge the system. Putting in new, efficient air conditioning saved us a lot of money, and boy, were we happy we did! We asked that they pull CAT-6 cable up to the top floor and throughout the basement for our house LAN, which they did. That's been wonderful to have. They also had to put in new sub-panels for the electrical additions, and they did a tidy job of adding that into the basement office. They also added some lighting into the basement ceiling, and put that on a dimmer switch for us. We had been having issues with water leaks from the roof, which had damaged ceilings throughout the house. So, they refinished the living/dining room ceiling and repainted it. This gave us the opportunity to redecorate with new colors. The main floor bath had the fixtures and floor and tub entirely replaced. The put in a large shower with rain-head and hand shower instead of the otherwise unusable tub with a broken hand shower. The shower was partially enclosed with clear glass instead of a shower curtain. They also replaced the window in the outer wall--in the shower--with a larger one with pebbled glass that lets in lots of light but keeps our privacy. Architectural white quartz was put into the functional shower niches. This bathroom is no larger than it was, but is now beautiful and fully usable. Once the main floor shower was finished, we pretty much moved ourselves downstairs and demolition and rebuilding began upstairs. Premier HomePro repaired the water-damaged ceilings upstairs and repainted the interior walls with new colors and began the masterpiece, the master bath. The floor plan of the master bath changed considerably, so a lot of drywall came down, and one of the two doors came out. The steam shower went into its own spacious alcove sealed with a tempered glass door. They cheerfully constructed a granite-topped seat, a functional and decorative niche, and a narrow granite ledge in the shower. The walls are tiled in slate with a decorative stone listello running around the entire enclosure about head level. The floor of the shower is tiled in river pebbles, which provides beautiful, natural, and non-skid footing when wet. We wanted to put in a large square Japanese-style soaking tube (with air bubbles!) but this just wasn't going to fit up our narrow stairs--so Premier HomePro opened the side of the house where it was going in and brought it up with a crane. That wall got a new, larger pebbled window for light and privacy, and you can barely tell the siding outside isn't original. The tub is about four feet tall and square--and takes up its own alcove, with two regular stair steps up, all of which they built for us. Slate tile matching the shower forms a backsplash behind the granite ledge and a granite shelf below the window provides horizontal space for candles and such. They hung a flat-panel TV which we can watch while soaking in the tub--it sits over the toilet, which has a half-wall for privacy, topped with granite. Beside the privacy wall is the vanity desk with double towers, drawers, and shelves. This sits opposite the double-sink vanity. Both have mirrors and lights above them. Premier HomePro was very good about letting us keep and re-use wood and mirrors and such from before. They understand wanting to recycle and reuse, so we reused three of our mirrors, a cabinet (put in the basement powder room), doors, hot water radiators, and trim wood. They made one of our reused doors into a pocket door leading from the back of the bathroom into the former attic closet. This made the space into a very useful walk-through closet. They refinished the plaster walls and continued the new bathroom flooring into the closet. This left me a nice place to put up a new Elfa system. One of the best things? The custom cat bathroom in the closet! They tiled a small part of a back corner of the closet floor and installed a regular exhaust fan above where the cat box goes! No more stinky cat box, and it's easy to clean. And they put a Big Red Button up for us to turn on the fan. Really. We were fortunate they went along with our sense of humor in furnishings. A last-minute but very necessary addition to the work came when we realized that the existing twin skylights were at the end of their lifespan. These sit on either side in the gabled ceiling of the bedroom, just at the front of the house under the roof. Alan said he could remove them and roof over that spot, but we really loved the skylights. He graciously let us talk him into replacing the skylights. This proved a bit tricky to order, as the vendor's packaging and ordering was less than informative, but we all worked together to get them ordered and installed. These are new, energy-efficient, and have electric remotely-controlled Venetian blinds--a big improvement. And while the celing was open, we created a design for a rustic oak ceiling, and the Premier HomePro team came through for us again. It's just beautiful, with real red oak panels and beams. As we went along, we also found lots of little things that needed fixing. They performed a lot of handyman tasks on days when we were waiting for parts or Rockville City inspections. These were things like fixing lamps, hanging lighting and painting. One of my favorite creations of theirs is a set of sliding flat shelves in an awkwardly deep pantry in the kitchen. One of the crew made them from scratch and installed them in a day, and I am so grateful every time I use the pantry. We also had concrete breaking up on the front porch, and a rear deck in need of repair and staining. They took care of these for us as well as power washing the house. The front porch and steps have been resurfaced. One of our street numbers had fallen off, and even that got put back up! I also want to thank Premier HomePro because the guys on their team who came out to our house and whom we saw every day for six month were delightful people. They were kind and considerate, always polite and honest. Alan Stevens, the owner, is quick and humorous and very practical. They are growing very fast, and we were fortunate to get all the attention from the company owner that we did. Alan admitted that this was a technically challenging build for them, and they had not done some of the things we asked them to do before, or not very often. Consequently, some things needed to be done over. They DID fix everything we asked them to. Since then they've grown and trained and taken on more talented workers, so I would be confident about asking them to do some of the things we asked of them.

We know this is is a lengthy review but hey, we did a lot of work there! These clients were the best ones we have ever had. They were patient and gracious for over six months as we went from project to project in their home. You have already seen the list if items from the client and let me tell you, this is one amazing home now with a gorgeous master bath with a bubble tub and steam shower, a large picture window, television changing areas and more. The whole home has a new look and feel and we are about to embark on a new project with one of the client's family members. Thanks so much for the referral and the wonderful comments on Angie's List.

Brian Mathews responded promptly and showed me a written labor cost estimate of $800 plus unspecified materials. Brian assured me the materials costs would be minor. He made a convincing sales pitch touting the professionalism of the company their high quality work and its high ratings on Angie's list. Based mostly on the Angie's list ratings I agreed to hire them even though I thought the price quote was a little high. Brian then had me sign a nine page contract and initial each page. When I asked for a copy of the quote and contract he said he would email it to me. Several days later after I contacted Alan Stevens he did email the contract to me. The work wasn't actually scheduled but was started fairly quickly, about a week later, since I am retired and I was available when Brain called me to say he had a crew available to start in the morning. Two men arrived to do the work. Neither spoke English however they did do the work well. When they removed the old drywall and discovered the damage to the roof they stopped the work and contacted Brian by phone. Brian sent his roofing crew to my house to estimate the job. Only one of the four roofers spoke some English. The crew sported tatoos and looked rough. They said the "bossman", Brian, would discuss the job with me. Awhile later Brian called me and said the roof repair would cost between $1400 to $1600 dollars. I asked for a written estimate. After some discussion about the cost he suggested I get some estimates and I agreed. I got a written estimate from Corley Roofing for $950 so I had them repair my roof which they did to my complete satisfaction...Once the roof repair was completed I called Brian. Once again he called me to say he had a crew available to finish the drywall work in the morning. I agreed. Again a couple arrived that spoke no English. They needed directions to Home Depot for materials. They returned and completed the work after borrowing my ladder. They completed the work to my satisfaction. I was billed $187 for materials worth $59 retail at Home Depot. I complained and Alan Stevens and I agreed to $100 for materials.
Description of Work: I needed two sagging 4x8 drywall panels replaced on the ceiling of my garage, a 10 foot length of copper plumbing pipe replaced in my unfinished basement, and a small (lag bolt) hole on my roof repaired. When the sagging drywall was removed they uncovered water damage to my roof needing repair.

Thanks for your review. Actually, the work went very well but the homeowner had a leak in his roof that needed to be repaired which interrupted our service call. The homeowner did not like our estimate so he found someone else to do it cheaply which of course he is entitled to do. Retired people who live on fixed incomes are often astounded at the cost of things today and we often have to counsel them on the fact that in order to have a licensed, insured company covered by workman's compensation, it is expensive. Even I am astounded some days at the overhead the state and DC require to keep things running legally. Yes, not all of our workers speak fluent English. It is a very difficult thing these days to find capable, hard working US born labor. Today's youth do not sign up for vocational training in this area and the pool of carpenters, painters, drywall mechanics etc. has shrunk down to the barest minimum with most of them having left the country since the recession started. We wish we had lived up to your expectations but will settle for a "C" since you did not wish to pay us for the time we spent running around town getting the supplies and for the service call to obtain them. No company works for free. Some people fail to realize that gas is almost $4 a gallon, we spend hours at Home Depot and other places buying materials and someone has to pay for the labor and overhead. We gave this customer a break since he was retired which I believe was fair. We respect those who have paid their dues in the work force and in the military and offer senior discounts and military discounts. In addition, there are discount coupons on our web site

Some ideas required significant structural work, for instance, moving stair landing into a different room. They sold my wife on an option to create a bedroom in this space too. In the end, cost was prohibitive, more than we wanted to spend. We decided to get additional quotes and ideas.

Thanks for your honest review although, we believe that a "A" would have been better! We offered a design consultation on Angie's List in November for basement remodeling which specifically stated that people did not have to use our services. We hope you were able to get your project done but if you have not, please reconsider us.

The start of the relationship was professional and responsive. We felt there was a dialogue, and that Alan and crew had good ideas, while also allowing for our creativity. We are familiar with construction projects, and expect some glitches,do-overs and time delays. Things appeared to roll along smoothly within reason and we navigated our expectations relatively well. The job seemed to move along (though not at the time lines Alan would state). The workmen and craftsmanship of the crew was super. They always left things cleaned up, which was great as we have 2 small, very curious boys who always wanted to see everything. Alan appeared collegial, relaxed and generous. Things seemed to stall over the summer. We went away the first 2 weeks of July, and upon our return and from there on, it seemed like pulling teeth to even get a response. Alan travels frequently. When asked about our carpet order and other things that were outstanding, we would often get responses sandwiched with complaints of how busy he was, or some other thing in his personal life. While I am all for being friendly, the tenor of these interactions were accusatory, as if we should understand that he is a victim of his chosen lifestyle. Essentially, he took little personal responsibility. The tone also became increasingly more flippant and petty, with him charging us $.01 for repainting a spot on a wall that he had told me i could simply wash off (and I had intended to do). (We plan to pay the penny.) When my husband found an accounting error in Alan's favor, Alan took this as an opportunity to criticize him for wanting to have our deal written in contract. He could have chosen, to simply thank my husband for being honest. We are still trying to work out a few final (small) details and complete the project, several months after it was slated to be completed. All in all, the completed space is beautiful, we'd just like to finish it!
Description of Work: We hired Alan to completely finish our unfinished basement. We designed multiple closets, a guest room, bathroom, kitchenette, and open space living areas. Some of the flooring was carpet, some laminate.

This client is absolutely correct. Some things stalled over the summer. The primary one was special order carpet which was totally messed up by the Home Depot rep who ordered it (or did not order it depending on the day I spoke to him). In our initial discussions, the client selected carpet off the roll in Home Depot, then in late May, selected a special order carpet which as it turns out, took forever to be delivered. I am sure this was aggravating for them as it was for me too. Our clients are all told and it is expressly written into the Agreement that special orders may delay things. We cannot control the special order process and in this case, the carpet mill took two months to make the next run of this particular carpet. When it was delivered, we had it installed in two days time. In addition to providing them with "A"+ work, we also included a number of extras which were not mentioned in their review. Please take a moment to read this part as it should have been noted by the client. List of extras they did not pay for or received major discounts on: 1) 9 recessed lights contract value $200 each - total $1800 gift to them. 2) The repainting of the entire rear bedroom. The client did not like the color after they selected it and we repainted the entire room for one penny. Pretty good deal. 3) The client asked for a plastic shower enclosure to save money and a plastic shower pan. We gave them without any additional charge because they were such nice people a FREE tiled shower pan and a beautiful ceramic tiled shower stall with a built in niche for soap and shampoo. We really wanted this project to be a showcase and of course, it is one of the nicest basement finishing jobs I have ever seen. The bar area is spectatular, each room has a 3 color paint job (ceiling flat white, each room has a different color wall paint and semi gloss white). 4) When we built the client's closet shelves, we discounted them after agreeing upon the price $600. 5) We did not mark up the sub panel installed in the garage and allowed them to pay us exactly what the electrician charged us. 6) Reduced markup on the Microwave and refrigerator only to cover the cost of pickup and delivery. 7) Finished the sump pump closet with drywall - no additional charge. 8) Provided an upgraged pad with vapor barrier under the laminate flooring in the basement at no additional cost (the best one Lumber Liquadators offers). We welcome all feedback and thank this client for theirs. We also take time to address all concerns but in private and in this public forum. Thank you Angie's List for sending them to us. We really enjoyed working for them.

Brian's team was very professional. Matt, in particular was great and had a lot of knowledge. They were courteous and kept things clean. There was a lot of dust, but that is expected with the amouont of drywall work that was done. We are very happy with the renovations. We think the price was a bit high in the end, but they did a great job. We did have a few minor communication issues, but since they were working while we were out at work the whole day, not too surprising. In the end we were quite happy with the result.
Description of Work: After purchasng a $50 basement design plan via an Angie's list deal, we had Brian Matthews come out for a consultation and estimate (we never actually did get formal design however). He had good suggestions for how to renovate an already finished basement that had just had damage from water leak and needed some reconfiguring. Brian and his crew (Matt was the main person doing the work) reconfigured some awkward areas and closets, replaced a tank hot water heater with a tankless, added in some built-in shelving for a play area and painted the entirety of the main area of the basement. In addition, just outside our basement walk out, they extended a concrete patio and installed a shed under our deck.

After signing the contract, the cabinets were ordered, work began as promised. I was most impressed with staff professionalism, attention to detail and cleanliness. Believe it or not, you could hardly tell that they'd been in the house! Everything went smoothly - I can't stress this enough. All of the staff were courteous and helpful - offering very good suggestions based on their experiences which we really appreciated. Any time I had a question, Alan immediately returned my call. If some came up - the dishwasher didn't work after installation, he sent someone over to fix it immediately. Premier Homepro is responsive, professional and enjoy their work - I know I love my kitchen but I can tell they're proud of their work. I higly recommend them.
Description of Work: After seeing our friends bathroom remodel by Premier Homepro, we decided to contact the owner, Alan Stevens to explore remodeling our kitchen. He was absolutely fantastic to work and extremely responsive. This was our first remodeling project using a contractor and he was very patient walking us through the entire process. He has great design ideas and we spent a fair amount of time discussing what we wanted, what we could afford and he was very receptive to working with us on every level. We decided to completely remodel our kitchen, which entailed demolishing the old kitchen, moving plumbing and electrical outlets and appliances to accommodate the new design, installing wood floors (to integrate and match the existing wood floor), granite countertops, installation of new cabinets, and travertine backsplash tiles. - a whole new kitchen. I forgot, they also refaced our fireplace with stackedstone. It is beautiful!

This is hands down the best contracting company I have ever worked with. I started out working with Alan Stevens, who has been shown himself to be professional, timely, courteous and extremely knowledgeable throughout the process. Alan came by and saw my home, and walked through the job with me. He gave me a timely estimate, to which I agreed; he then sent over a scope of work document, and we set a time that he could send a crew over to start. Turn around was remarkably fast. These guys were at my house exactly when they said they would be, and got straight down to business. I walked through my house with the electrician again, getting his feedback on what he thought should be done. My initial impressions of the crew were that they were hardworking, knowledgeable, and talented. Four days later, the results of their work proved me right; simply put, it looks amazing. They solicited my feedback throughout the process, and made sure that I was happy with both what they had planned, and the way it looked at the end. I could tell that both the crew and Alan took great pride both in the work that they were performing, and my overall satisfaction with the way my home looks. Communication with Alan was great throughout. He frequently called just to check up on how things were going with the job, making sure I was happy with both the crew and their work. The answer to that is an unequivocal "yes". Awesome job, will definitely be using these guys again. Thanks Alan!
Description of Work: The best experience I have had as a homeowner was getting these guys in my home to work on the following: -Install 34 recessed lights throughout a 4-level townhouse -Install a 5.1 surround sound theater system, running speaker wire across multiple rooms to connect a second zone with 4 additional speakers -Plaster, sand and repaint holes from running electrical and speaker wire -Install light switches and remove unwanted light fixtures

UPDATE (as of 9/29/2012): I was notified by contractor in a letter that Big Buy ad was in error and that the contractor was only licensed in Maryland, not Virginia where I am located. I am willing to forgive this in this matter, and yes, I got my money back from Angie's List as soon as I saw the deal wasn't going to happen.
Description of Work: Jumped on the Big Buy when it came out last year. Tried to schedule a time for the contractor or one of his associated to come by, but they claimed they were swamped with work. Unable to set up a time, so demanded my money be refunded. This problem is half the contractor's for taking on so much work as a result of the "Big Buy" offer, and half Angie's List for allowing so many to sign up for the offer.

I am sorry that Angie's List ran the big deal in Virginia. We are simply not licensed in Virginia and because we obey the law, we do not do business there We plan on becoming a class "A" license contractor in the near future but are not one currently. All Virginia residents who purchased this big deal were entitled to receive their money back due to the mistake made by Angie's List advertising department. Over all it went very well. Brian Matthews is exceptionally wonderful! He's efficient, very exacting, thoughtful, considerate and very no-nonsense. He notices the slightest seam out of place. Brian knows home improvement / renovations business. Yet, he won't impose his ideas on you immediately. He graciously listens while you tell him what you want then if it works for your particular project, he and his staff will proceed to see that you get exactly what you wanted and more than you had anticipated. Brian Stevens selected my kitchen flooring. I couldn't be more pleased. I absolutely love it. Jose and Ivan are two extremely talented contractors. I don't think there's anything they cannot do. They are extremely smart, talented, kind and considerate. arrived early, stayed late and extremely fast. I enjoyed their coming to work in my home. I cannot say enough about Premier HomePro. Note: I did notice a negative report on Angie's List prior to calling. I reviewed the negative comments and made an educated decision to call them anyway and do not regret it one bit. Nor will others. Premier HomePro is an excellent company with two fantastic, personable people managing your projects. Can't say enough about Brian, Alan, Juan and Ivan.
Description of Work: November 22, 2011, a pipe burst in my home.It was probably the most frightening event I've ever experienced. I could not find my mainline shut-off valve. The water was gushing in according to the firemen at 35 to 40 mph. It was frightening. What made the situation worse, I have a lovely neighbor that lives under me. She has a small dog that she leaves in a crate while she works as a teacher just a few minutes away. When it was over, my neighbors house was soaked and eventually gutted. I lost both ceilings, my kitchen electrical wiring was faulty. electric stove gone. Floor was gone. Cabinets crown molding torn down when they pulled the ceiling down The kitchen table & chairs were gone. Living Room furniture soaked. A recovery company came in, set up fans & Dehumidifiers. It was a living nightmare. I actually requested numerous estimates from other Angie's List companies. Some never showed and some that did weren't interestted and never responded. I'd grown tired of the excuses why they never sent their estimates or didn't show. However, the minute Brian Matthews walked in, he gave you the impression he could already "see" the finished product in front of him. He walked around quietly looking at the rooms, then asked; "What would you like done here? Brian is very personable, direct, no nonsense yet very compassionate and caring. He has an eagle eye for "anything" out of place or not perfect. Just amazing. The other half of the Dynamic HomePro Team is Alan Stevens another totally amazing person. Because of insurace co. timelines, requesting work be completed sooner, Alan Stevens rearranged the repairs start date. He bought over his dynamic home contracting duo "Juan and Ivan." Two absolutely smart, talented, enormously fast gentlemen to repair my home. Within minutes, they were checking on the ceilings for any the faulty electrical wiring. Juan immediately placed a mainline-shutoff valve into my coat closet. They checked all wiring. There was nothing they could not repair. The firemen pulling down the ceiling inadvertantly pulled the molding off the top of my cabinets. They had to take the cabinets down to repair the ceiling then rehang the cabinets, add the molding. The kitchen floor had to be replaced. lighting & re-wiring done. They moved project to project until each task was completed. You will enjoy working with Alan Stevens and Brian Matthews. Juan and Ivon are amazing.

We were extremely satisfied with the work that was done on our kitchen and bathroom. The staff for each project were incredibly professional, responsive, accommodating, hard-working, and easy to work with. They completed the jobs while accommodating our incredibly quick turn-around time requests, and did beautiful work. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to family/friends. We have gotten many, many compliments on their work and will absolutely reach out to them again if we need further work done on our home.
Description of Work: Premier HomePro worked on two separate projects in our home: 1) A kitchen modification, involving moving/modification of cabinetry, removal of electric stovetop and electric oven, creation of large window between kitchen and living room, installation of new gas range and butcher-block countertop, and installation of molding/shelf around new large kitchen "window." 2) Remodel of the shower portion of a bathroom, including tear down of existing tile, tub, and walls, and installation of new walls, ceramic tile (with built-in recessed shelf), new bathtub, light/fan fixture, and other bathtub/shower fixtures.

This was a 203K project, so it was important that I partnered with someone that was reliable, knowledgable and insightful -- Premier HomePro and Alan was all of the above with a sprinkle of working with an old friend on top. At the front end, Alan provided an accurate estimate of the project and the requisite paperwork needed to show that he could take on a 203K project more timely than any of the other contractors we were considering. His quote wasn't the highest nor the lowest, but because of the complex loan requirements and his demonstration of competence, it was clear that working with him would return the most value. And it did. The first surprise was how quickly he got started--I closed on the home, a 100 year old Bungalow, on November 4th and Alan had a dumpster and a demolition crew at my house a few days later. Over the course of the renovation, whenever we had minor gaps in expectations or miscommunication, much of it could be attributed to my own indecisiveness, Alan was accessible, responsive and eager to reach a resolution. He also acted very quickly to suggest alternative courses of action when needed. For example, we were having our roof repaired but after the work began, Alan suggested that it would be more cost effective to just replace the entire roof for what amounted to a marginal amount more. That dreadful green roof is gone. And when I say green, I don't mean sustainable. He didn't nickel and dime us either because we ended up getting a good chunk of extras. I got a fantastic education working with Mr. Stevens, a great house that my son and wife can enjoy, and my neighbors admire. I strongly recommend Premier HomePro.
Description of Work: Exterior facade Premier HomePro demolished the ill-fitted siding from the facade of our home and replaced it with 'HardiPlank' cement board plank siding on the veranda walk-up and shingled panels with decorative edges on the upper deck (this was also painted); demolished a deck that was out of code and had fallen into ruin and replaced it with a 30' x 8' eye catching porch that anchors the block's appeal; also installed a new roof using 25 year charcoal asphalt shingles complete with drip edge and ridge vents. Interior Main Eliminated several structural walls, doorways and a laundry room to open up and modernized the layout of the house; installed support beams in several areas of the main floor per engineer's plans; Removed more than 1,100 square feet of sloped flooring and deteriorated joists, floors were then leveled and topped continuously throughout our kitchen, dining room and living room, with classic wide plank Heart pine wood flooring; demoed the small outmoded gallery style kitchen then redesigned, reconfigured and replaced it with a new L shaped kitchen that now flows into the rest of the house giving us a sense of spaciousness that was lacking; we also had the kitchen and bathroom plumbing redone to code, recess lighting installed and dry wall repaired. Basement Finished basement (approximately 600 sq ft): Installed main support beam and anchored support into cement footings, leveled ceilings and installed recess lighting, switches, fire alarms, demoed old plumbing and installed new plumbing to code, installed gas line and hot water heater, sump ejection pit, roughed-in a 3 piece bathroom and roughed in kitchen; basement was also framed, fire blocked, insulated to code, and dry-walled and primed for paint.

I purchased a Basement Remodeling Design & Consultation big deal on 12/4/11. The vendor showed up at my home for the consultation as scheduled in December for the consultation and reviewed the project with my wife and I. He promised a design but never delivered one. I called several times to get a status but each time was told they were working on it. Angie's list gave me a refund which I appreciate. Save yourself a headache and avoid this vendor like the plague.

We apologize for this inconvenience and wish this person well. In December Angie's List asked us if we wanted to be the recipient of basement design consultation leads. We agreed to do this for free. The campaign was very successful and we received 151 leads covering an enormous geographic area with little to no time to get to everyone we saw. We learned a very big lesson during the aftermath of the campaign and hope that this client will forgive us as we had no idea we would be so overwhelmed with replies and responsibilities. We did not receive compensation from Angie's List and if he wants us to complete this task for him, we will at no charge. Please accept this apology.

From start to finish, Brian was great. We had four wooden posts and all the wooden railings removed and replaced with 6 posts and railings from trex. Brian made sure he got us the best price on all the materials and the job was done the next day. Trex has a little more work than most of the composite decking, trex requires assembly for all the railings and Brian's team was amazing. The was completed in one day and it looks amazing. The team were totally professional and the clean-up was flawless. My husband and I are totally happy with the final product and look forward to working with Brian in the future.

The pricing was good however the workers who were sent onsite made a number of errors that had to be corrected. Not enough contractor oversight. They know what they're doing but sometimes the focus gets lost on trying to get out the door quickly. Called this contarctor twice. Both times I got voicemail and was asked to leave a message. The first time, the mailbox was full so I couldn't leave a message. A couple of days later, I tried again and this time was able to leave a message, along with my phone number, about wanting an estimate on remodeling two bathrooms and a kitchen. To-date I have never received a return call. The contract has been awared to another contractor. After receiving a letter in the mail from this contractor on June 26th, I learned that his wife was having major surgery during the time I was trying to get in touch with him. He stated he tried to look up my phone number but found out it was out off service, however in my one voicemail I did leave my cell number. As a compassionate human being and business owner myself, I understand that family always come first and that emergencies do arise which prevent us from doing business the way we normally do. I do have a suggestion for you, as I do this myself. When an unforseen emergency happens, when possible and time allows, change your voicemail message stating that such an incident as occured and that there will be a delay in returning calls. This will let potential customers know that they're not being ignored and should prevent any bad ratings. Therefore I have updated my rating from an "F" to a "C" at this time. I want to sincerely wish your wife a speedy and healthy recovery.

I've been taking all week long to think about a reply to this posting. It seems to me that we offer a wonderful service to those who love a high quality contractor which is why we are so highly rated by our clients. Let's examine this issue. The definition of a client is as follows: cli·ent    [klahy-uhnt] noun 1.a person or group that uses the professional advice or services of a lawyer, accountant, advertising agency, architect, contractor etc. 2.a person who is receiving benefits 3.a customer. We always treat our clients well. Clients are our customers and our customers, those who we do business with really benefit from our services because we care. We care enough to treat them well, to care for their belongings when we are in their homes, care for their cats and dogs and kids. We keep them safe from debris, keep their homes clean, remove all of our mess, vacuum and sweep daily, provide them with trustworthy carpenters, plumbers and electricians, inspect their work, pass municipal inspections and deliver a beautiful finished product at a competitive price. We love our clients and it shows. In an era when some people count their friends on FACEBOOK, we count ours one at a time. You know why? Because we earn it and they know it. Our friends give us "A"s on Angie's List because they know firsthand what if feels like to actually be our CLIENT and sir, our client's love us. In an era when most companies don't give a darn, we do. I am sorry my wife's surgery caused you some grief. Think of how inconvenient it was for her. To all of those folks who do become our clients, don't let this man's comments affect you in any way. I only wish he had become a client so he would have known how important our clients are each and every day. Sir, I love my wife and I am a faithful husband, father and most of all, I am faithful to many many people each year who engage us in their homes. To you, I wish you well in all you do and maybe someday you will also give us an "A" for we always strive to earn one. If anyone needs to text me which is way easier than voice mail, please do so at 240 223 7034 and I will call you asap (plus it leaves a nice record to refer back to also. Email is alanstev@hotmail.com. Thanks for your advice sir.

The total process for the bathroom remodeling, concrete repairs and landscaping went very smoothly. This was due to Brian Matthews' (Senior Consultant) excellent supervision of the work from start to finish. Brian stayed on top of the entire project and kept it running on time. If I called Brian, he would take my call right away or if he was with a client he would return my call very promply. Any questions that I had were answered and any problems were taken care of very fast. For example, my new toilet was leaking some water very slowly. I called Brian and told him the problem and that it was not an emergency. Brian sent out a plumber the next day to fix the leak. Brian selected the shrubs for the front of my house and he made excellent choices. I am delighted with the choice of the shrubs and their placement in my yard. It was a delight to work with Brian. Only one problem on the project. It took a long time for Alan Stevens (Owner) to submit a signed copy of the contract. Hopefully, he will improve on this.Overall, I would highly recommend Premier HomePro for all three of my projects.

Everything was great! I called at the beginning of May for an estimate to remodel my guest bathroom. Brian from Premier Homepro arrived and helped me design a new bathroom. I needed a custom sized shower to fit in the room, and he said that it would be no problem to design something to fit. His design even filled some empty space I had with shelves, to give me some storage room (it was a small bathroom, so that really helped). When I approved the estimate, the company informed me that they had a free crew and could begin immediately. They began the next day (very rare for them to have a free crew, but I was lucky!). I met Brian and his crew at Home Depot to pick out all new fixtures and tile for the floor and shower. Work began immediately, tearing out the old bathroom and building up the new. The workers were excellent, good people, polite and professional but cheery and nice to have around. They came in every day except Sunday, and worked all day to build up the new bathroom. They designed and built a custom shower, tiled it and the floor and painted the room. Every fixture that I wanted was purchased and installed. They finished up about 9 days. The new bathroom is great, and gets used all the time. If it wasn't on a different floor, it would probably become the new master bathroom.
Description of Work: Guest bathroom was completely removed and rebuilt. New room was framed, custom shower and room designed, a new tile floor and all new fixtures were installed. The room and surroundings were painted. The only part re-used from the previous bathroom was the door.

Alan and Janni provided wonderful design ideas and suggestions for materials, including driving me to tile stores and cabinet stores because I don't have a car. Alan was also really good about suggesting areas where I could save money and still achieve the look I was after, and all of his suggestions were spot-on. They also offered help on things like color palette, which I did not take them up on because I was pretty confident in my own choices. They connected me with a kitchen designer who did a good job. I was clear about what I wanted in terms of layout and function, but she added some lovely touches--perfect interior organization for the cabinets, no wasted space, just the right trim and a beautiful sight line from the dining room. I got exactly the look I wanted without spending crazy money on custom cabinets, and the space functions even better than I had hoped. It is truly my dream kitchen. I had some unusual requirements (had to have the Gaggenau ovens, wanted to replace the balusters with something custom that proved difficult to source). Alan hung in there, despite that some of my choices created huge delays for the project. The quality of the final work was excellent. We had some ups and downs along the way, including several miscommunications between Alan and me or Alan and his crew that resulted in things like tile being demo'ed that was supposed to be kept (and then the wrong tile re-installed without consultation) and different kitchen cabinet handles being installed than ones I chose. For that reason, I would probably give an A minus if that were an option. The good news is, Alan always made it right--whether it was redoing the work, suggesting a new work around or giving me the choice between redo and a price reduction, we always got to a solution. I think this is a really important point. A lot of contractors disappear when something goes wrong or there is a disagreement, and Alan does the exact opposite--he works with you to get to a satisfactory solution. In any complex job there are bound to be surprises or things that don't go as expected, and Alan's approach in those circumstances is one of the main reasons that I will definitely use him again if I ever need anything else done. I went over budget, but really only through adding things to the project or choosing expensive materials and fixtures. Alan was good about pointing that out as it was happening, and sometimes I changed my mind as a result. He was less good about keeping all the numbers up to date--but has since added new admin support, which should make that easier for everybody. Timing-wise, we went WAY over estimate. Most of that was due to things like a four-month delay for my ovens and DC permitting hassles from work done by the prior owners, which could not have been predicted or controlled. Some of it was due to the inevitable loss of momentum when delays prevent the whole project from being completed.
Description of Work: Alan did a cosmetic facelift to my Capitol Hill townhouse--kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, interior paint, new upstairs laundry room, repointing exterior brick and painting/repairing exterior trim. Overall, I am absolutely delighted with the result--everyone who walks into my house says "Wow!" (including me).

Thanks for such a nice, candid review. We met this client in July 2011. She read our reviews on Angie's List and contacted us to provide a design consultation for her newly purchased home on Capitol Hill. Since we are a family run business, my wife Janni and I attended the meeting and provided insight and design consultation services which resulted in an agreement for work. Throughout the process, we kept the client informed and patiently waited for design changes that occurred along the way. All in all, we created a plan, submitted it to DC for permits, repaired and painted the entire interior and exterior of the home, re-pointed the brick, remodeled three bathrooms, the kitchen, created a laundry room on the second floor and installed hardwood floors and a custom iron rail. The home looks great! Yes, we had a few delays due to the long wait for some orders to arrive (one from Germany) but the project was completed and our client loves it. Thanks for being such a great client.

Premier HomePro did a basement apartment renovation for me with Brian and his crew doing the work. The company pretty much has an expert on staff for any work you might need. Brian and his crew are highly experienced and knowledgeable... they really know their stuff. So as far as quality & workmanship - they did very high quality work. I was very happy with all their work. Brian is very personable and easy to work with. I found him to be outstanding when it came to coordinating and managing the project as well as communication and timeliness - explaining everything to me, keeping me informed about the schedule and progress, answering all my questions, offering alternatives to address my needs and concerns, and always responding quickly to my many emails and calls throughout the project . Brian stayed on top of everything making sure the project was completed as agreed upon and did extra work that I asked if they could do. Would definitely recommend them and hire them again - in fact, I did!
