Brian was great to work with, and Hector and Matthew are not workers, they are 'craftsmen.' They made sure things weren't patched, they were repaird. By the time they were done, my house was better than when I bought it 30 years ago. I'd use Premier again in a heartbeat!

We had a great time working with this client. At this point in our professional development as a highly rated company on Angie's List, we are in the unique position to select mutually beneficial relationships. We prefer a win-win relationship with the right folks. They select us because they recognize the value we provide at an appropriate level of investment and we select them because they have realistic expectations and are REASONABLE to deal with. Imagine you own a firm like ours. You try try try to deliver a great product but are always invading someone's space for sometimes weeks at a time. You deliver 100% and then they pay. Its not like we are selling an IPOD or a car. We install in homes and when the installation is complete, we ask for our money (after the client already owns it!). Therefore, we are in the position to select our clients the same way they select us because we know if you care enough to hire us and are willing to see the value we provide, we will deliver a superior remodeling job with some of the finest professionals we can find. Win -Win. Thanks for being such a great client and thanks for the kind words. Hector and Mateo are available for both interior and exterior finishes. Please ask for them by name if you want to remodel your bathroom, do trim and interior painting or other finish items in your home. They are great guys and really deliver. Thank you for taking time to review Premier HomePro. We appreciate the feedback and your business!
Brian came out to give me the estimate. Unlike the other contractors I had spoken with, Brian said "no problem" to everything I listed as I explained what I needed done. His can-do attitude is what led me to hire Premier Homepro. Andre, the guy they sent out do to the work, was great. He was extremely polite and professional. Overall, the work was completed on time and close to budget. I was very happy with the experience. Premier Homepro will be my first call the next time I need a contractor or handyman, and I will definitely ask for Andre again.
Description of Work: We had roughly a week's worth of handyman projects that needed to be completed. They included a wide range of things such as regrouting a bathroom, fixing several faucets and sinks, restaining a banister, fixing and repainting drywall, and venting a dryer through a brick wall.

We received 151 calls in three weeks time frame to cover this rediculas offer created by ANGIES LIST. For anyone reading this reply, let me explain how ANGIES LIST makes money from all sides. They charge you for a subscription, the charge the subscribers for their memberships and they take 10% right off the top for any "BIG DEAL" the homeowner purchases. In this case, since they created the offer and discounted our services 90%, they kept the $50. We had no previous experience with this sort of offer and were deluged with requests. 151 to be exact in three weeks which we could not handle as a small company. In addition, most folks did not read the fine print and most expected a full set of architects drawings, bathroom, kitchen, home theater and bar designs all included for the mere $50 paid to Angie's List which we never saw a dime of. In addition to all the trouble caused by this advertisment created by Angie's List, who by the way is all about making $$$MONEY$$$ on all fronts, they went back and called each person who bought the "BIG DEAL" and demanded ratings from each person. Many of them were in Virginia where are not licensed and who have given us poor ratings for only being licensed in Maryland and DC. Angie's List has many good points and many very bad ones. The worst one is the fact that they solicit ratings from people who never actually used a contractor's services and post their replies which are placed in the same catagory as those who use our services. I have personally requested they change this model but have not seen any positive movement in this direction.

It was difficult to get a time set up for someone to come out and when we finally got something set up he came out and basically told us he couldn't do anything because the offer didn't include a bathroom and we wanted a bathroom in our basement. He told us they don't get any of the money for the "Big Deal" offers so if we wanted our money back we'd have to go back through Angie's List to work that out. I don't think the offer was well defined and my husband didn't find the guy who came out to be very helpful. We wouldn't use this company again.

The CEO, Alan R Stevens, asked us to sign a gag order after emailing us a release addendum relieving us of our obligation to start a second bathroom remodel. This is against Angie's List policy to prevent us from writing a review. First as a precursor, I have noticed that the CEO, Alan R. Stevens, immediately faults and sometimes berates reviewers (and have already felt the brunt of it) who make negative comments. Therefore, I am prepared and expect that he will do the same once he reads this review. Due to our extremely difficult and long drawn-out experience, I will attempt to keep emotion out of the review and just the facts. 10/17/12 a contract was signed with Brian Matthews, PHP's supervisor. A red flag should have been raised because he kept saying yes to all our requests and said, "It's a simple rip and replace." We moved forward with the next step to pick tile for our bathroom. He was there at our initial meeting, but not at the second one and just gave us a simple square footage measurement. There were no floor or tile plans and the tile salesperson just worked with us since Brian said order "x" amount. We went ahead and ordered tile on 11/7. Following day, I called Brian to inquire about purchasing items, and he said just do it... I thought it was unusual since that's what I hired a company for, but not trying to be difficult, I ordered the toilet and our vanity was already purchased. Tile arrived in December and a wanted a start date - no commitment AND then Brian disappeared. Therefore I contacted Alan on 12/11 and his response - "in surgery"... and I got it, health comes first, so I was sympathetic. 12/11, 12/13 still on vacation - so I waited again patiently and assumed it was due to his health. I waited and then contacted again and he and his wife came out on 12/17 to view the bathroom and take a trip to Home Depot. I thought great, some attention, even though we were starting from scratch. Alan informed me that he would be my main contact, no longer Brian. Interestingly, Alan made excuses for Brian, stating Brian was having hernia surgery on 12/13 and that he was also suffering health problems (which he went into great detail with me, but don't feel proper sharing...) Wow, these guys sure have some health issues, but that's beyond the point, so I was happy to just keep moving forward with a positive attitude. At first I thought, "great, the CEO is in charge and it's his company" but I was WRONG. I was awaiting an addendum to the contract and even outlined things in detail for him so he could have copied and pasted if he wanted. Contacted on 12/17 and pushed back to 12/18... it's the holidays, once more, I'm patient. Even more push back, 12/27 Alan is unavailable driving back from Ft. Benning. My patience is dwindling but 1/4, Alan says he'll be at our home to review the contract and discuss project... HE DOES NOT SHOW. Good news is his construction supervisor shows to review the bathroom but he is not clear on what needs to be done so we're back to square one! 1/5 Alan is sick, 1/6 ill with the flu, 1/7 ill with the flu.... 1/9 I call him on his phone and we literally speak one minute and HE YELLS AT ME FOR CALLING, HANGS UP ON ME, AND SENDS ME A NASTY EMAIL , AND THEN PROCEEDS TO INFORM ME THAT HE'S LEAVING THE COUNTRY THE NEXT DAY ON A CRUISE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE KEPT DETAILED RECORDS OF EVERYTHING. Even more interesting, Brian resurfaces on 1/17 and writes an explanation on why he disappeared - because his job and role had changed at the company. I won't provide my opinion, but an odd excuse as to why there was no communication, and of course, Brian's explanation does NOT match Alan's. One positive, the crew is in the last stages of finishing, and Mauricio Saravia and his team have been professional and actually sympathetic as I was so upset to be yelled at and berated. Long story short, we are still disagreeing and I'm waiting a reconciliation of costs, but because we don't have an addendum, how can costs be amended??? I am contacting Angie's list help desk. I am also contacting the county for assistance. In fact, visit the website for the MONTGOMERY COUNTY OFFICE OF CONSUMER PROTECTION (www.montgomerycounty.gov) and you will see one pending, unresolved complaint (under "MERCHANT COMPLAINT" against Premier Home Pro. Please do your research and GOOGLE his name ALAN R STEVENS and read all the negative reviews which all touch on his volatility. Alan and his wife called me an "Easy client" on 12/14, and I am. In fact, we are not novices to the remodeling experience after renovating a kitchen and a master bath, so I felt relaxed. Why didn't I use the same contractor? The company is an expensive service and it was fantastic, and in hindsight, I understand that you get what you pay for, so we should have spent the extra money. I keep replaying Brian statement of "it's a simple rip and replace"... Caveat emptor and serious Buyer Remorse.
Description of Work: Zero Customer Service. Poor Service and a terrible experience. Update: Heading towards six months and still no resolution. Run for the hills before signing a contract with this company.

Thank you for the very nice review and congrats for being able to get a refund from Angie's List for the big deal you purchased from them!
Bottom-line up Front: For this project, we felt the quality of the work was OUTSTANDING, we were COMPLETELY SATISFIED with the finished job and the price was WORTH EVERY PENNY! On to the specifics of our experience with Premier Homepro: This was actually the 2nd time we have had Premier Homepro do a renovation for us in the last 7 months. The first job they completed (not reviewed on Angies list) was a complete renovation of our main level bathroom. We were so pleased with the price and quality of that job that we did not even bother getting estimates from other companies to do the job described above. We had Brian Mathews come over in late November 2012, look at the project and give us an estimate. He was able to provide it "on the spot" and we signed a contract that day. We had agreed that the person who did our main level bathroom (our 1st project wtih Premier Homepro) would do this project but as we got closer to the start date, we were informed they would be sending a different crew. Initially we had concerns but agreed and it turned out the 2 guys assigned to this project were just as outstanding as the person who did our first project. Looking back, I am glad we trustred Premier Homepro b/c this job had a lot more carpentry and more challenging plumbing/electrical issues than our 1st bathroom project. Between the 2 guys assigned to this job, they had all the necessary skills. One of the other things I really like about Premier Homepro (on both jobs they did for us) is that once they start your project, you see the same guys everyday (except Sundays) until the job is 95% complete (they complete that last 5% about a week later after you put together a final punchlist). The guys never took any short cuts when it came to their work and they made sure to pay attention to details when it came to our requests on the tiling design and carpentry. Everyday the guys left the worksite in very clean order which was very important to us as we have an infant child. My wife and I both work and have to be into the office very early so we trusted the guys with a set of keys to the house and would inspect their work each evening. We left them notes if we had any concerns/questions/direction. Our issues were always addressed the next day. We were able to cut out of work a few times to check in on the job and they were always working hard when we showed up. The guys also called us at work if they had any questions so the work could continue. The job took a week longer than expected (5 weeks instead of 4 weeks as originally bid) which was due to some additional work that needed to be addressed once the walls and part of the floor had been removed. There were a few unexpected plumbing issues and some rotted flooring under the bathtub location that needed to be replaced. On our first project with Premier Homepro, these sort of "extras" were addressed with us in real time as the project was being worked. On this project, the "extras" were not discussed until we got close to the end of the job. Not being there the majority of time myself, I did not even realize the extent of some of the extra work that was uncovered and I would have preferred talking though the "extras" in real time with the owner or his managment team. Getting the entire growth bill at the end was a little overwhelming. Luckily, Alan Stevens (Owner) and Brian Matthews worked with us to explain the extra work and the cost. In speaking with Alan and Brian, their normal policy is to identify "extras" and additional costs in real time but they were not able to make it to our jobsite as often as normal as they were casualties to the flu and had some out of town commitments during the holidays. The fact that Alan and Brian worked very hard with us to come to a final price that all of us could be happy with shows their commitment to customer satisfaction. Without a doubt, the quality of the work was OUTSTANDING, we were COMPLETELY SATISFIED with the final outcome of the job and the PRICE WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
Description of Work: COMPLETE REMODEL OF UPSTAIRS BATHROOM - Effort required a complete teardown of the original bathroom to the studs. Features installed in the bathroom included a new bathtub with all new tiling to the ceiling & 4 inserts for soap/shampoo/etc, new sink/vanity (required re-routing some plumbing), new recessed medicine cabinet, addition of GFI outlets (wiring had to be routed to the basement breaker box), new exhaust fan, new light fixtures (that were relocated from their original wired locations as was the location of the junction box with all of the switches for the lighting & exhaust fan), heated tile floors, a small linen closet with shelving for storage. RELOCATE WASHER/DRYER - Effort required relocating a stackable washer/dryer about 3' from its original location (required plumbing, electrical and gas line re-routing) and building a new closet w/pocket door and shower pan bottom w drain (in case the washer ever overflows given it is located on the 2nd floor) for the Washer/Dryer. NEW BEDROOM - Effort required enclosing an open space adjacent to the bathroom to create a new bedroom. In addition to building the partition wall w/pocket door to enclose the bedroom, they built a closet in the room and had to move some HVAC ventilation and electrical wiring.

We purchased a home built in 1952 and as such it needed some updates. We decidede to start with adding several electrical outlets throughout the house, overhead light fixtures, and switches. The task was complicated by the design of the home, lack of access, and our learning curve as new homeowners. The workers were true gentlemen who took the time to educate as well as to exceed our expectations in completing the required work. They took the time to make sure our home was protected throughout the work and left cleaner than when they started. We discussed additional work which we will definately be using Premier HomePro to complete. When you move to a new area it is hard to know who to trust but with Premier HomePro you are in good hands.

I contacted Alan during the vacation holiday and got a text response back saying that they could perform the job without any problem. I sent the communication directly through Angie's List. I spoke with Alan and we had a great conversation about the scope of the project and the work to be done. The only reason that we didn't hire is because me and my wife sat down and discussed if it really was worth the value of the home itself and the area to remodel the home since we know we want to move to an all-brick rambler that has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms due to our family's new addition. This is the only reason. We have full faith and confidence that Alan and his team could perform the job. Angie's List Members: If you call and don't get a response, send a communication through Angie's List and BE PATIENT!!!! The company will call you back. I saw someone recently give PremierHome an F ratings because they didn't get a call them while they are on vacation. Are you serious? That has nothing to do with the work the company performs "AFTER" you have spoken with someone. Relax. Give the company a chance and UPDATE the review if you do work with the company. Good gracious. Don't give them a bad review if they don't honestly deserve it.
Description of Work: Contacted Premier Home to perform an addition remodel to add 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a hallway laundry room alcove to include a new rear deck landing and replacement of the front deck and front door. This is a pretty extensive job that would have required a dedicated team and about 6-8 weeks of work to complete.

Thank you for this outstanding report! This client was so polite and easy to work with. As a matter of fact, when he told us he was going to buy a home, I educated him on the FHA 203K loan program which has fix up money in the mortgage loan to assist homebuyers repair homes they buy or refinance. Its a great program and he assured me that that was a really good piece of information and that the homes they were looking at will need a contractor! We look forward to working with him and his wife. Thanks so much for the comments in a previous report. I will never understand why someone would want to damage our reputation when they never met us and we never did work for them but I sure do love working with nice, good, kind folks who appreciate our high level of commitment, skilled talent and dedication to doing fine work for our clients. Very helpful with every aspect. Brian Matthews was the principal lead and was able to give us excellent design advice. Andre and Mike were very skilled at what they did, meticulous in execution, kept the work site clean and swept up at the end of each day. They involved us in all the design/execution decisions that had to be made, and kept us informed about all aspects of the job, including their arrival and departure times. They were a delight to work with, and we intend to use them again on two more bathrooms.

Description of Work: WE paid for an estimate for the basement. The guy came and asked what our budget was. We said he hadn't decided how big a remodel to do. He said he didn't do estimates unless clients were prepared to spend $35,000 to $45,000 minimum. He then said we should ask Angie's List for our money back. We have no idea what kind of work he might have been done but were totally put off by his attitude. In the end, we spent $55,000 on our basement - with someone else, obviously.

He also indicated that HomePro also completes the remodeling of other parts of the house, so we discussed the remodeling of our upstairs bathrooms and of the master bedroom. We bought the Angies List deal for a basement redesign/consultation. They were easy to schedule and were professional. However we ultimately did not get much out of the consultation. The job started as a bathroom remodel with a minor roof repair, but it quickly turned into a full roof replacement, instead of a bathroom remodel. The roof replacement started within a week of estimate and took two days (one more than they originally expected). Ceiling repair started about a week after the roof was completed, to make sure the leak was fixed. I had to call the company back a couple of times to fix minor things, and I was not hassled about them. The only negative thing I can say about the experience (other than having to spend my bathroom money on a new roof) is that they had a hard time keeping appointments. Except for the very first appointment for the initial estimate, they always called to reschedule. I work from home most days, so this wasn't too much of an inconvenience for me, but it would have been terrible if I had been taking days off work to meet them. The work was a little more expensive than I was used to in South Carolina, but the quality is impeccable. If you want it done right, give these guys a call.
Description of Work: Repair roof, replace all shingles. Repair water-damaged ceiling and repaint ceiling.

My wife and I noticed that the posts on our backyard porch were rotting, and we were told that that one way to remedy the problem would be to replace the posts and wrap the new posts with PVC to prevent rotting from water damage in the future. We also needed some other minor work done on our house (i.e. securing a loose soffit, replacing a chimney cap and re-sealing some ceramic tile on our porch). We obtained a quote from a contractor to only have the posts replaced and the new posts wrapped with PVC for $2,400. We sought a second opinion from another contractor for the entire job (replace the posts, wrap the new posts in PVC and the other minor work) because the first contractor became unresponsive to our inquiries. The second contractor told us that the porch posts did not need to be replaced and that the existing posts could just be wrapped with PVC instead. When the second contractor quoted us $2,400 to perform the minor work and re-wrap the porch posts we knew the second contractor was trying to take advantage of us As a result, we called Alan Stevens at Premier HomePro for a third quote.. When I called Alan he immediately came out to my house to inspect the porch posts, and he confirmed that the posts were installed incorrectly and needed to be replaced; just wrapping the posts with PVC would only put a band-aid on the problem. Alan demonstrated that he knew exactly how to resolve the problem. I was upfront with Alan by telling him that we had received prior bids for the job, and he confirmed that the second bid was too high, probably because the second contractor assumed that people who live in certain areas can afford to pay higher costs. I asked Alan for a bid on the entire project and he quoted me $2,400, which was much more reasonable. Alan was flexible with the terms of our agreement and I really appreciated that. The work started on a Tuesday and Alan's crew arrived early. Alan also showed up in the morning to give clear guidance to his crew of what needed to be accomplished. Alan also agreed to do some extra sealing of the tile and painting for no extra cost. Alan's entire crew were polite and respectful. On Tuesday afternoon, Alan informed me that some extra unanticipated work needed to be done. The extra work was minor but necessary to complete the job and it involved taking an extra day or two to get the job done right. The extra work added a little less than 10% to the total cost, which is actually reasonable in the grand scheme of things. Alan agreed to do the extra work for cost, which I greatly appreciated. We have been very satisfied with the quality of Alan's work. The porch posts and all of the other work look great. This was a fairly small job in the grand spectrum of home improvement projects. However, Alan and his crew never gave the impression that this was minor to them. I like that Alan screens his crew to ensure that they are qualified and possess the necessary attitude that ensures customer satisfaction. I also appreciate that Alan is upfront about costs and his expectations. This is the sign of a truly professional contractor, and in my opinion that is vital to a successful contractor-homeowner relationship. It's a two-way street and both parties need to be responsive, clear, and reasonably flexible. Alan and his crew delivered on all fronts. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Alan at Premier HomePro for any additional home improvement needs. Thank you for a fantastic job.

One day a few weeks ago, this client reached my on my cell phone while driving in Bethesda and after a brief introduction, invited me to see his project. I was literally around the corner and within 5 minutes at his home to inspect the rear porch posts and a few other items. We like the small and large jobs equally because it demonstrates the breath of knowledge the crews possess and opens the doors to some nice relationships. Often when we get a great client like this one, we go the extra mile. The law of reciprocity is a real thing and its often a bit better to give it your best which we do well. This first job may lead to the next. I already have the porch plans in my inbox and will be working with the client this week to plan this for the spring. Thanks for the "A" Rating! We can't wait to receive you referrals... :-)

Here's the Good, Bad and Ugly - and they got an A review from me on Angie's List. The Good: Hardworking, great quality. Price was the highest of our 3 estimates (but not by too much) but got Brian?s contractor discounts on fixtures we had to buy/pick up, making the job more affordable. Also, some additional plumbing work had to be done and, when comparing to other Angie's List pricing, PHP came out less. Michael came up with a nice solution for the shelves in the recess and it looks great. When there was an issue, Alan took control and got results. When Alan came by to inspect the work, he saw a few things that I either didn?t think was that big a deal or that I hadn?t noticed at all. However, his commitment to quality compelled him to have his guy come back and address those issues. The Bad: Get EVERYTHING in writing, especially ALL items that define ?fixtures.? Don?t play ?nice guy? and figure that it will be taken care of. You must be responsible as the project manager for this project in your own home and communicate with the contractor along the way. If PHP doesn?t email the signed/scanned contract back to you within a day of the agreement, follow up immediately. Estimation for completion was well off the mark by several days despite assurances all along the job (timeline for the Thanksgiving Holiday). When ?troop surge? occurred to fast track some work, they weren?t all part of the A team. The Ugly: An accident occurred whereby a heat lamp was poorly secured to the wall, fell in the tub, began melting/smoking some plastic and caused the smoke detector system to go off (at least I know it works having just purchased this house in July 2012). Took 1.5 hours to resolve (from a dead sleep). This could have been a huge issue if no one was home. While most jobs will have something go wrong, it's how the company resolves these problems and makes you feel as a customer that really counts. Alan and his wife came to my home and remedied any plastic smell from the smoke issue above. Alan is top notch and Michael does high quality work. I easily related to Alan and will absolutely get an estimate from them when we do our kitchen remodel. They aren?t the cheapest, but the definitely do great work.

Thanks for the "A" Rating! We know that doing this much work in a home is tedious and hard to deal with and sometimes things go awry. For us, it is how to solve problems and focus on solutions and communicate with the client along the way. All in all, we know it was imperfect but plan on taking a lesson from this. On another not, our agreement with our clients gives us way more than 1 day to review the Contract and to send it back. In the clause titled "Ratification" it says that this contract and any work orders or modifications must be in writing and accepted in writing by an officer of the company. Notification of acceptance must be made within ten (10) days but no later than thirteen days (13) days from the date of the contract. The reason any contractor takes this time is to make sure all aspects of the agreement are reasonable and that the work can be done in a timely manner. In this client's case, we were to get that bathroom done before his Thanksgiving guests arrived and we did. Thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate it and will implement new strategies to bring additional clarity to our future jobs. Alan Stevens, President, Premier HomePro

My wife and I were looking to have our basement finished so I purchased an Angie's List deal for a consultation with Premier HomePro. I called the company and spoke with the owner. We scheduled a meeting for the following week. To accommodate the consultant we scheduled the meeting for 10am so that he would have ample time to drive to my house. I stayed home from work to meet him. HE DIDN"T SHOW UP. He didn't call to let me know that he wasn't showing up either. I ended up going to work and calling him later that afternoon. He said that he has back problems and couldn't make it. I was understanding since I know that these types of things can happen. We scheduled a different date and time for him to come out and look at my basement. HE DIDN"T SHOW UP THE 2ND TIME EITHER!!! He didn't call to let me know either. I was shocked. With people out there looking for jobs and wanting to work, I was surprised that he would treat potential customers with so little regard. I called him and requested a refund. He agreed and I received a refund. I believe Premier HomePro is the most unprofessional, thoughtless and inconsiderate company that I have ever dealt with. Do yourself a favor, DON"T DEAL WITH THEM!!! You'll be sorry if you do.

Dear Santa All I want for Christmas is for actual Clients who have had real work done in their homes to rate our work with the spirit of happiness this holiday season. Also, Santa, please help this client understand that when he makes appointments with our company multiple times that we cannot help him if he is a NO SHOW (twice). I'd also like Ms. Angie to change the way the NON-CLIENTs' reports show up on the web site... I would prefer they were filed in the circular file since they never experienced our fine services. That's all for now 'cept I'd also like to not fall off the Fiscal Cliff at the end of the month... and oh yes, and Santa, no more stuff from the dollar store please....

They came out and gave me an estimate on how things could be set up in the basement's design. They were supposed to get back to me with the design of the basement. I never called them back and they never called me back with that design. If there is way to continue the work on this project, I would be willing to do that.

Not only did we bend over backwards to assist this client, but we tore her shower out and rebuilt it twice to appease her. She breached the contract by taking off all summer long , denying us access to her home from June to September and then commented on our punctuality. In actuality, the work was outstanding...
