Heat Not Getting Above 61 (set to 70)

They were very professional and offered a variety of A/C unit brands (many companies offer just one). They actually saved us money by recommending that we not upgrade our insulation (saved us thousands) and get smaller units than the builder had put in (based upon their industry standard software calculations). Communication was very good and the technicians who have been here have all been very knowledgable about their trade. Replacing HVAC was expensive and I could have gone with a cheaper company (or a cheaper brand that Michael Bonsby offered) but they really helped me determine where to best put my dollars for maximum impact.

Started off rough with mechanic not able to figure out how to get old unit from attic, 90 minutes later after calling his boss every thing went smoothly. He even stayed late to finish on same day

They were good and their customer service is very good, they are considerate also because there are children in the house. Their response time was very good and I would refer them.

It went very well. Beginning with Holly the representative to came out to tell me about the company and its products and services. She was very professional and on time for her appt. The Installation Team was fantastic! They arrived on time (Thomas & Isiah), it took about 8 hrs. Cleaned up after themselves, you never knew they were here. Very professional and courteous. Andy, a supervisor drop by, checking in on this job and ended up getting additional work by informing me that my water pipes needed to be replaced above the water heater. So I had those replaced a couple of weeks later. Great Team, on time, great work very professional.

Joe the owner is easy to work with and professional. Lennin and Eric who came to the building were friendly, efficient and were great to check with me when making decisions. Their work was high quality and they cleaned up the area. Will definitely use them again!

I called them to check my attic heat pump unit. After a short diagnostic they gave me a very high repair cost. When I told them that I can not afford it and I would need to check with few others. They told me it would be $185 fee for diagnostic! I said fine! Then immediately the manager called me and dropped the service repair cost by $500!! That should be a red flag. It shows that they have build a huge profit margin that even if they drop it by $500 it doesn't effect them. My mistake was to accept the offer. But, few days later I called back to report an issue with the heater. They told that the problem is not with the inside unit and it is the outside unit. So, another $185 for diagnostic fee! I said enough is enough! I don't need their service anymore! I am DONE with them!!

It went well with one exception. I asked for someone to return to tuck more of the wiring inside the unit. This was promptly done. All in all I am very satisfied.

We had them come and install a new ductless mini-split. They came in at a super competitive price, were able to get the work done in a day. Some minor hiccups in the first week but they were able to come back very quickly to address the issues and it's been great since. Fully recommend them.

I contacted Michael Bonsby because I was interested in installing a ductless mini-split in what will eventually be a finished attic, and the company is a well-reviewed, Mitsubishi Diamond Elite contractor. I also wished to have some duct work repaired and all of the duct work Aerosealed--both fairly straightforward projects for a competent HVAC contractor. Their Senior Estimator arrived on time, talked with me about my project and how the company could accomplish my goals, and promised to send an estimate and scope of work within 24 hours. The estimate arrived as promised, and the prices were reasonable: $1,500 for the duct work repairs (high for the job, but probably their minimum fee), $2,500 for Aerosealing (comparable to other estimates I'd received), and $5,700 for the mini-split, including installation and electrical work (again, comparable to other estimates). Because the project is to be finished in stages, however, I told the estimator that I only wanted to move forward immediately with the duct work repairs. But I made clear that the other work would follow soon, and we had already discussed my general timeline of having all work completed before the end of the summer. He said that would be fine, and that he would come back out with the duct repair crew to do Manual J and Manual D calculations on my current system to ascertain whether the ductless mini-split was the best option and whether other improvements could be made. So I signed and returned the contract for the duct work repairs. He acknowledged receipt, and said he'd be in touch directly to schedule the appointment. I didn't hear from him for a few days after that, so I emailed again to ask about scheduling the repair work and his supplemental visit. When he responded, he said nothing about the supplemental visit and said that he was "just waiting for an opening in the schedule." He promised to give me a date the next day. He never did. In fact, I never heard from him again. Or anyone else from the company. So today, nearly three weeks since I signed the contract, I called the company to ask if they were planning to do the work. The gentleman with whom I spoke was first unsure whether I'd actually signed a contract, but after he determined that I had, he told me that unless I wanted the work done on a weekend--which I told him was fine with me--he wouldn't be able to get to my job until August. I got the idea that my contract was news to him. And because he didn't sound especially willing to actually do my job over a weekend, and because I'm not willing to wait an additional 2+ months for a few hours of Michael Bonsby's time--particularly given my discussions with the estimator about the need for timely service--we agreed to void the agreement and go our separate ways. Michael Bonsby supposedly does good work. But you have to get them to pay attention to you first. And I couldn't. Not for $1,500.00, at least. I suspect--but of course don't know--that my experience would have been different if I'd agreed up front to the full $10,000 scope of work. After all, other reviews on this site and elsewhere--some as recent as a few days ago--note that the company scheduled and completed system replacements or new system installations (read: expensive projects) in slightly more than a week. But maybe you'll have better luck. Or maybe you'll just agree to spend so much money that Michael Bonsby will jump you to the top of their list. Not me, though--I'll hire one of their competitors who remembers that this is a (crowded) service industry and doesn't make it a practice to ignore their clients.

My appointment was cancelled last minute due to a family emergency. Understandable if frustrating. But we rescheduled for the next day and I heard nothing until *I* called to ask where he was, 10 minutes after our appointment time. "Oh, I'm not going to be able to make it for another hour - hour and a half." No real care in the world and no apology for not calling ME sooner to let me know. What a horrible way to do business.

Between my first call with Michael Bonsby requesting an on-site estimate (a Thursday), and the completion of the installation (the following Friday), the process took about six business days. The ductless heat pump was installed in two days. The install process was probably a bit more complicated than usual because the inside unit was located in the basement, which was below grade. For an above-grade installation it probably would have been a 1-day process. On both days of the installation I left for work after meeting the installers in the morning. I felt very comfortable leaving them to do the job, and they cleaned up after themselves nicely. In order to connect the heat pump to my breaker box, it was necessary to run a conduit outside of my house. My breaker box was located on the opposite corner of the house, and I opted to have the electrical wire run externally in a conduit rather than try to run it through the ceiling (the inside unit of the heat pump was located in a finished room, and I did not want to have to do any dry-wall repair). After the job was finished on the second day, I came home and inspected the job. The unit worked very well and did a great job of heating my basement - so the person that did the initial estimate did a good job of recommending an appropriate capacity heat pump (9,000BTU) for the space. One problem I noted was that the external conduit did not appear to be installed correctly. Instead of using a rigid conduit (such as PVC or metal), a flexible conduit was used, and there were two small (~1/4 inch) gaps in the conduit run where separate sections of conduit were used and not joined together. I called the company the following morning (Thursday) at 8am to explain my concerns about this. The person I talked to was very understanding and provided an email address for me to send photos to, which I did while they were on the line. As soon as they saw the photos they agreed that the installation was not acceptable and scheduled to have another crew come out the following day to fix the conduit. The following day (Friday) a new crew came out and replaced the flexible conduit with a rigid metal conduit. The installation now looks very clean and professionally done. I am very pleased with the result of the whole process. While not ideal to need to have work revised, I was very pleased with how quickly the issue was fixed and with how pleasant everyone from the company was to work with. Everyone I talked to on the phone was courteous and professional, and both sets of work crews I interacted with were very friendly. As a side note, I did not have other companies provide me with estimates for this job, so I don't have a good reference for whether the cost is normal / high / low. The estimated price was less than I was expecting to pay, and based on other work I have had done it seemed reasonable to me.

Service was excellent, they brought down the old one and install a new one and they made sure its working before they left. Representatives were very courteous, they took away all the old stuff making sure place was clean before they left.

I plan on continuing with them. They have been professional.

Perfection. Completed in less time than expected. Job site clean. Absolutely pleasure to work with.

System was fixed and situation/cause was explained.

After many years the equipment went bad. It was a few months out of warranty but the manufacturer said they would cover the equipment. Bonsby, however, initially would not even help coordinate with the manufacturer to process the warranty. I had to get the manufacturer to call Bonsby and only then did they agree to help but only after I paid a price around 1/2 the cost of my original equipment. As far as I understood all my existing hookups (ductwork) was done and all they needed to do was switch out the hvac equipment. My impression was they just concerned with making a buck off me and that they did not care about me as a customer. Would not deal with them again because I prefer doing business with a company that I can have a long term relationship with.

First off, Dawn was my first contact late in the evening... she was very responsive even at 8-9pm. She got us an appointment the next afternoon. Robert Bonsby was our rep. He called ahead to alert an exact time of when he would arrive - he arrived right on time. Robert was very personable and explained that he was there primarily to complete a load calculation for the area of the house where the old system was serving... He was very willing to explain all the different elements that were a part of the calculations... So far we have only gotten one other estimate prior to MB... all they were doing was replacing the same size system that we currently have - making the assumption it was the correct size - as it ends up, after Robert's load calculation, the proper size unit for our space is only 3.5 tons, not the 5 ton system we currently have. When it comes to HVAC, having an oversized system is just as bad as having an undersized system; bigger is NOT better!!. We were impressed that MB HVAC takes the time, money and effort to complete this load calculation to make sure they are providing what we truly need. To be clear, so far we have not had the system replaced - my husband is out of town and we won't go over all of this until he gets back - but so far i know where i'm leaning!!!

No issues. The service provider called ahead, was on time, professional, efficient, pleasant and provided suggestions.

They were great. Everything was good. They are reasonably priced. They are professional and they were on time and courteous. They gave me a better unit than I could get anywhere else for a better price.

Plumbing: We had some leaking HVAC PVC pipes that needed to be replaced. I called them up and asked for a HVAC technician, but the very knowledgeable operator, told me that I actually needed a plumber (stupid me!). She contacted Joe (the plumber), and Joe gave me a call back. I explained the problem, texted him some pictures and he worked around our schedules to come as soon as possible. He was prompt, efficient, affable, and overall, just great! I would not hesitate to use Joe again. Thanks Joe!

The estimate and scheduling were prompt, we were given a quote and it was very reasonable. The company helped us with financing, and there were no hidden costs. Everyone who worked on the project was very professional and knowledgeable.

Very good sales process. Professional offer with clear options to choose. Sales person was responsive and quickly addressed issues and concerns.

Jose did a great job clearing out a block in the drainage line that was causing my split-unit air conditioner to drip water all over my computer peripherals. Not an easy job, since access to the drainage line was tight and cramped, and my unit was mounted at ceiling level above a window. Jose fashioned a thin copper tube extension to the outlet of his compressed air tank by brazing together three shorter tubes to get the length he needed to get the air focused on the drainage line deep inside my unit. Clever and not at all easy IMHO.
