Description of Work: Repair and paint the wood apron above the front door, caulk a small portion of the bath tub, paint the ceiling in a small bedroom. Two men came and did the work. They were here when they said they would be and it took 2 1/2 hours to complete. They had to go to Home Depot to pick up a piece of molding for the apron. I paid $149.00 for the deal ($149.00 for up to 3 hours of work) and another $199.00. Although I paid for three hours upfront and it took them only 2 1/2 hours to complete, I had to pay an additional $199.00 because there were two men.

Description of Work: This vendor never got in contact with me and performed no services.

Description of Work: A representative responded to our initial call to review the work needed and provide an estimate. We were not pleased with the pricing and thought that the jobs were made more cumbersome than required. We decided to use another company and therefore did not take advantage of the paid service.

Description of Work: They repaired pulleys on our old (1945) wood garage door and did a general tune up. Before the work was done our door could barely be closed; afterwards it opened and closed smoothly. We were delighted with work done and their responsiveness.

Description of Work: I came home to GORGEOUS!!! They replaced the trim around my front door with a casing style trim that I had in my archway. It is stunning! Mark, the carpenter also noticed that one of my shingles needed to be reattached to the house. He did that too and swept my front steps. They were punctual and extremely personable. Not only would I recommend them to anyone, but I can't wait to to get another project started. Thank you so much Angie's List!

Description of Work: Replaced a decorative wood fence with gate in back yard.

Description of Work: Met with estimator/owner (EO) to plan job, including making a list of needed materials to have available for when the handyman arrived. When he arrived, he was not properly informed about the scope of the job or discussion I had with the EO, so I went over the job with him and discovered that he did not have some materials that we not on my list to be supplied and left it with him to resolve with EO. Came home to find that part of the job was not done, and then received a call from the office informing me that the time spent on the job was 2x the EO's estimate and that I owed more money. Explained to the office that the work was not particularly well done and that 2x the amount of time was unbelievable. Got a call back from the office offering to send someone else to fix up the job. Handyman #2 called me when he arrived, we discussed the problem as he looked at it and then he got to finishing the work. He was very pleasant. He then called when he was finished to say the work was done. I have not heard from the office since to ask about the final quality of work or pursue any additional payment, which I interpret as the EO's agreement that 2x the estimate was hard to believe. In the end, I realize a new piece attached to the repair area is not level, but I'm not interested in pursuing this any further. Seems they have better and less qualified people and are smart enough to quickly address issues, so I might call them again in the future. I know there are MUCH worse people out there, so I'd recommend giving them a call.

Description of Work: I bought the Big Deal and JW was quick to set up an appointment and actually worked us in early. They removed an old security voice box and a couple of old lights that I guess were installed by the former homeowner. They showed up right on time and my wife and I got held up at work and weren't able to be there while the work was being completed. We got home from work and the repairs were completed and you can't even tell the old items were there before. A beautiful job and we will definitely call them for any needs we have around the house. A++!!

Description of Work: I needed a handyman to fix some things in a basement apartment that I rent out (tile work, replace baseboards, etc). The company does not schedule work more than 1 week in advance and wouldn't be able to come out to give me an estimate until after my new tenants moved in. SO I called and just made the appointment for the work to be completed. I figured some of the work I could do myself, there were a few things that I needed him to do like the tile work - and so I had a list of MUST do, and if there was extra time within the 3 hr coupon, he could do some of the other stuff. I really did not want to go much over the 3 hrs. He was there for 5 hrs. Must have been something he didn't understand. I had supplied everything that was needed, but kept getting calls from the guy - e.g. I had gray grout which was not the same color as the other grout in the room where he was fixing tile -- I still needed him to do the tile work - what did he expect, I was going to run home from work, pick up grout, run to the apartment, and give it to him - that would have taken the whole of 3 hrs??? There was only 3-4 tiles being fixed and this was a basement apartment and in a corner spot - really no one would ever notice once the grout gets dirty anyway! Then I didn't have the right caulk for the baseboards - so he never caulked them! Then he never removed the trash! It is still sitting behind my house. He left the old baseboards and 2 large buckets full of garbage. My brother who was home at the time and has never really dealt with contractors before was told by the guy - "it costs extra to remove the trash" - that's a bunch of BS - every contractor I have ever worked with has removed their own trash and taken it with them. I had to remove it from the apartment and put it behind my house and now have to call the city to get a special pick up for it. Ridiculous! Their price is the same as other handymen I have used ($74/hr beyond the coupon) so price was fine, but it was something of a headache to get scheduled (since they only do it 1 week in advance) and with the trash issue - I doubt I would call them again.

Description of Work: This was a 2 hour Angie's Big Deal. The trim at the roof line of my town house had come loose and was hanging down in front of the building. It required at least a 40 foot ladder to reach the top of the building. JW sent Alberto and Ezer to complete the job. They were prompt, efficient and thorough. In addition to completing this job, they did some repair work on the fence in the back of my house. Because this didn't take the full two hours, I was asked by JW if there were any other small jobs they could complete while there. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of any at the time but was very impressed with the fact that I was asked. Because of the large number of responses they had to this Big Deal, it took them quite a while to get around to my job. However, I am very pleased with the results. Will definitely use JW again.

Description of Work: Mike came out and did a tune up on all parts of the garage door, replaced rollers and made sure everything was working properly. He also ordered and installed the bottom rubber strip which because of wear and tear, was quite useless. All of this was done in a timely and professional manner.

Description of Work: I tried many, many times to contact this business for my handyman service, but I never got a return email or call. I gave up after a while.

Description of Work: Two men worked for 6.5 hours on home improvements which included 2 Big Deals - 1 for 2 hours of interior carpentry and 1 for 2 hours of exterior carpentry work. The interior work included the installation of a new linen closet door and the installation of base trim in my kitchen, bathroom and basement. The exterior work included the purchase and installation of aluminum wrap on fascia board, the removal of a satellite dish from the roof, and the mounting of a new house number plaque. It rained periodically during the day, making it difficult to work outside and seal seams in gutters, as planned. I was very satisfied with most of the work performed. The only remaining issue is some damage to drywall in the basement near the areas where the trim was installed due to scraping to remove old caulk. The workers, Ever and Alberto were professional. They cleaned up most of the sawdust from cutting the trim. The cost of materials is not included in the listed amount spent.

Description of Work: They came at 10:30am and left at 5:30pm. One went on shopping trip at Home Deport once he got the young guy going. this was explaine dto me that I would pay for the shopping time and that they would not come with the supplies. He went to Home Depot for an hour at least which is a five minute drive from my house but I know guys get lost in the store (personal experience with husband.) They did good work but I think it was rather expensive. Granted, I used to watch my husband do this work licky split with the same or better quality. They did buy supplies for part of the work which is included in the cost. I never received a final bill, though, breaking out the charges, supplies verus manpower. The work they did is as follows: They made a linear 16 ft.treated lattice barrier (two pieces 4 x 8) with posts that were sleeved into a metal stakes, and pounded into the ground rather than pouring cement footers. The barrier sat on top of a patio wall.(Keeps the dogs from getting out of the yard.) I like it and serves the purpose without being permanent. They also put brick moulding around a second story window and painted it. They replace rotted brick molding around half of another window which could be reached with out a ladder and put a flat piece of wood trim and caulked it under a balcony that could be reached without a ladder. I thought it was expensive There time also inlcuded an hour lunch break during the 6 hours.

Description of Work: Both services came from Angie's special deals offered by email. The handyman deal was 2 hours for $99. Justin arrived at the stroke of 8 a.m. and quickly completed the four or five tasks I asked him to do. He was professional and very efficient in his work. I was completely satisfied with the results. Several days later, Michael came also on time to provide maintenance to the garage door. He determined that one of the operating screws had broken and replaced both of them, provided the necessary maintenance and completed the work in unbelievable heat and humidity efficiently and totally to my satisfaction. The offer was $149 for the garage door maintenance and it was another $200 to replace the screws. I was very pleased with the work of both the professionals from JW and would happily return to this company for work in the future.

Description of Work: The company carpenter (Tim) who performed the two-hour service, in addition to his considerable multifaceted skills as a carpenter and “handyman,” worked more than hard to make sure the job got done well, professionally and as fast as possible (without sacrificing quality). His commitment was obviously beyond what was required to fulfill the Angie’s List offer of two hours of carpentry service (which we used for deck work and reinstalling a segment of siding over the garage). We were so satisfied that we arranged for another visit by Tim, plus another equally dedicated employee (Eduardo), for additional services to replace old external spigots in tight spaces, plaster wall repair and related roof leaks. The second visit (today) was also a very positive experience. Based on the two different occasions we’ve used this company, we plan to request them again for additional home improvements.

Description of Work: The person from J&W arrived on time and did an inspection of my garage doors. He adjusted what was needed, talked to me about things I could do during the year to keep the doors in good operating condition, asked if I had any more questions and left.I was pleased with every aspect of this experience and would not hesitate to call this company again. Their employee was very knowledgeable and polite.

Description of Work: I used JW to replace wood rot on outdoor exterior trim. They did a great job and were prefessional throughout. They also finished an extimate 1.5 day job in 1 day. I will definitely book them again for additional work.
