Description of Work: I didn't end up using JW Home Improvement. I had some various handy-man related jobs that I needed to have done (leaking window sill, unstable handrail on staircase, loose piece in backyard fence, etc.) and JW didn't think they could do all of the work in the 3-hour Angie's List deal I had purchased from them (3 hours of work for $xx); they thought it would take longer and the additional hours would have to be charged at their regular rate, which I thought was far outside of my budget. I ended up getting a refund on my 3-hour deal purchase and I hired another handyman to do the work. This company may do great work, I really can't speak to that. They just weren't the right company for my particular job and that is all my review is meant to convey.

Description of Work: Marty showed up with another worker, and they changed 22 doorknobs in my house in less than 2 hours. I was pleased with the outcome and the professionalism displayed by the workers. I would hire JW Home Improvement again.

Description of Work: I attempted to have a ceiling fan installed. JW Home Improvement sent 2 men out for the install. They were inexperienced. It took several hours, cost nearly $225, and my wall electrical outlets did not work afterwards. I insisted on a licensed electrician to follow-up. His work caused a short circuit. I had to call another electrician in to complete the work.

Description of Work: I'm not really sure if I used this company's services or not. If I did, I don't have any bad memories of them.

Description of Work: We had the garage door tune-up by JW Home Improvement. The tech was on time. He performed a detailed check of our garage door and replaced the rollers. He also made a few adjustments to the door so when it was closed the door did not bow out. After the tune-up, the garage door is much quieter and has been working great!

Description of Work: Great experience. I did the Big Deal for what I thought was a small project. They correctly identified a larger problem, and were honest about what they could handle. Really appreciated the honesty. I thought they were fantastic.

Description of Work: The JW Home improvement guys replaced some rotten wood on the front of our town house.They found the wood and proper paint color. Good work.

Description of Work: There were two large holes in two storage area's/closets that had been there since we moved in. Both were in awkward places, and high up.

Description of Work: I have two projects (very small water damage on corner of window sill in dining room and basement plywood that needs replacing in one section). They would not give me an estimate on either one- so the $149. was completely wasted. Don't use them!!

Description of Work: I signed up for this deal in August (I think) of this year. I needed a small section of the front porch repaired (wood and pickets). After several calls a man came out and noticed a small repair on 2 places on my roof. He wanted an additional 100.00 as a deposit. After another call, they sent a man out who did the porch repair, but couldn''t do the roof. Hfe said someone would be out soon to finish the job. That didn't happen. I had to call again and they promised they would be out this Saturday Nov 24. They had budgeted 1/2 hour to do this and I had already paid them for that. So it was not a big job by any means, and the roof access is very easy. Why they strung this whole effort out this long, I don't know. If the job was too small for them, they should have let me know up front. Please wait to tell them about my review until they finish the job (hpefully this coming Sat). Rick Cook

Description of Work: They did not perform a service. I needed them for work prior to a Thanksgiving Event. After several wasted days of phone tag. They informed me that I was not in their service area and I need to get my money back.

Description of Work: JW Home Improvement replaced a few rotted boards on my deck. This required some angled cuts. They also did a few small jobs in the house. I found them to be responsive and reasonable.

Description of Work: I purchased an bid deal from this company for two hours of handyman work. I had some fence repair that was need, so i called the company after purchasing the service describing the work i need the company said they would come by to see if the job can be done in the time purchased in the bid deal. I was told that they job would be completed with two men and it would be able to be finsihed in the timeframe. The day the repairs were being made i get a phone call that you are not going to finish and we needed to purchase an additional hour of service to have the job completed. We did not agree to this and told them the work needed to be finsihed and that was that. We later recived a bill in the mail for the additional hour of work. We are fighting this bill, and after we looked over the work performed it was miniual and they used the wrong wood for outside use. This is the second big deal i purcahsed were i was getting an allotted amount of time (so far 2 different company's) and both times i was told the job can be doen and at the end of the purcahsed time i was told from the workers we needed to buy additional hours........I WILL NEVER BUY A BIG DEAL FOR HOURS OF WORK BY ANY COMPANY EVER AGAIN>>>>>>>>>ITS THE BIGGEST SCAM!

Description of Work: I called the service to say that I needed to have a mirror hung. I was told that I would get a call back...about 4 weeks ago. I hired another handy man to hang the mirror.
