The work preformed was excellent and the professionalism of the gentlemen that completed the work was sublime.

They came timely, and did their jobs well. The major job was cleaning up some grout around the kitchen sink that had accumulated a lot of filth, and the job came out much better than I had expected.

Great! Although there was a little bit of confusion at the beginning regarding what exact work needed to be done, everything went really well once that was sorted out.

I thought the workers did an EXCELLENT job. They were punctual, worked extremely hard, and did a great job. JW was one of the only companies that was willing to come out to fix, but not entirely replace, holes in our siding. I give the quality an A+. I had a minor issue with the estimation being different from the ultimate invoice, but JW was very responsive to my concern and addressed it promptly. I was very pleased with how they conducted their business. Will definitely use again.

I did not like them at all. They cost by the hour. Thy ran really slow. They charge to get material at a store to get material. It cost way more than it should. The way the time was and the way they did things. I was not happy. They were very slow, and went to the store. They took like two hours. They were charging a $100 an hour. It was ridiculous. They gave me price that was ridiculous, and I got the price to come down. I was not happy. It was expensive. They did work with me on the price. The quality was ok. I don't think they were that punctual.

JW Home Improvement charges by the hour. The estimator gave a low ball estimate, which was compounded by the fact that carpenters were incredibly slow. It took one employee about 4 hours to install a replacement slab door in a basement closet. The same employee also took about 3 hours to add hinges to a access panel to a sink’s water shut-off. Both projects should have taken less than 4 hours. Unlike other home improvement contractors, JW Home Improvement does not arrive at the job site with building materials. JW's employees estimate how much building materials are required; and you then accompany the JW employee to a home improvement center to purchase the materials. Note that you are being $106 per hour the employee's shopping time. The initial trip to Lowes to purchase supplies and materials took about 2 hours, which was an hour longer than necessary. Then the employee had to make 2 additional trips to Lowes for the purchase of additional supplies. These last two shopping trips took a total of 1.5 hours. The employees’ lack of ability to estimate the amount of materials needed is evidenced by their initial belief that the shed’s roof needed a 100 square feet of shingles. In fact, the roof needed about 185 square feet of shingles. This necessitated that I make two additional trips to the home supply store. I also had to make an additional trip to Lowes to pick-up a tube of roof caulking, because the worker had misplaced the original purchase. I requested that my total bill be reduced by $633 ($50 + 5.5 hours X $106 per hour); and I received a discount. While the workers were definitely inefficient, the quality of their work was excellent.

Did not arrive on day promised...made excuses the scheduler left the company. After 3 phone calls they said they would come the next day. Two men arrived to prep the area for tile work and after 2 1/2 hrs left saying another crew would arrive at noon. Yes...they never showed and 3 more calls later they told me they would send someone the next day and I told them not to bother because I would find another reliable company.

He did a really good job. Responsiveness was a problem. I don't want to be bad but it was a problem. I probably would not use them again. I'd tell my friends and family to go somewhere else.

It did not go very well. I ordered a "deal" -- 4 hours of rot restoration for $199. The deal was that I paid $69.35 to "guarantee" $199 for 4 hours of work. The remaining $129.35 was due "directly to the service provider at time of service." JW Home Improvement called me within 10 minutes of my purchase and asked to schedule a time when they could do an estimate. I was pleased with their promptness, but puzzled by the estimate since I thought we would simply communicate about my needs, they would advise me on what materials I need, and then they would just show up and work for 4 hours. (That has been my experience with other Angie's List deals.) But, if they want to come out and look at it beforehand, that's great too. After we arranged for a date and time, they asked me for payment of the remaining $129.35 over the phone. I told them I thought that was due "at time of service." They said, no, I had to pay it now so they could do the estimate and if I did not like the estimate I could get a refund -- minus a $50.00 service fee. I cancel the deal on the spot.

A few years ago I used JW Home Improvement to paint a room in my very small condo. I was so pleased with the work and cleanliness that I decided to hire the company again to complete work in my bathroom. I especially rehired the company because I was PROMISED that I could get the same painter, which I definitely looked forward to having. To my surprise, that did not happen; and I was told how skilled the guy was in doing repairs and had been in the business for over 20 years. Now I will be the first to admit that my bathroom can be a tough place to work due to its small and odd size. :) The worker did a great job installing my new mirror and the shower shelves. However, the paint job was definitely average. I appreciated the work that was put in to repair parts of the wall; but the job itself should have been given a once over, especially because it had been humid out. After I carefully looked over the bathroom, I realized the worker skipped over painting various parts of the bathroom and needed to repaint portions. On top of that, there was not much effort put into protecting my bathroom fixtures. I spent too much time cleaning paint, etc. off of my items. I should have contacted the company, but I just repainted the parts myself. I was very disappointed and will not rehire for another paint job.

I think they did a very nice job. They showed up on time. He was nice. The work turned out fine.

He showed up on time. He was very easy to work with. Unfortunately he did not grout. There was a problem with the tub. We have used them a lot though, and would recommend.

Very well. JWHI appears to be a bit costly but the quality of work is quite good to excellent.

Excellent. Service was provided the same day that request was made at the "no job too small" two-hour minimum rate. Work completed promptly in a manner to preclude future failure (correcting a design flaw in the original installation).

Great job. Very responsive, honest, reliable company.

Ok. The techs finished the first projects and were just trying to kill time texting but luckily I was checking in on them every 15 minutes. Sigh.
