Overall rating is Good. Quality of work and pricing was also good. JWHI extended AL online coupon offer even though it was not valid for my zip code, so I appreciated that help. Unfortunately, I had to contend with some issues with JWHI scheduling and responsiveness prior to the work being done. On the originally scheduled date for the work to be done (a Friday), workers did not show up during arrival window and no one from JWHI called me. I called JWHI and was told that the work crew was in the area on another job but should be arriving at my house within an hour. More than an hour came and went, work crew still a no-show, and no status update call from JWHI. I had to call JWHI once again and was then told that the work crew would not be making it to my house because their previous job was taking too long. JWHI asked if the crew could come the next day (Saturday) but I said no, I had other plans and I asked to reschedule for Monday. JWHI said they would call me back very shortly to confirm re-scheduling date/time. Never got a call back from JWHI to confirm, so I called JWHI (recurring theme here....) and spoke with General Mgr., who assured me the work crew would come out Monday at 8:00 a.m. Good, thank you... even though I was being inconvenienced. The very next morning, Saturday..... at 6:50 a.m. no less, a JWHI work crew woke me up by ringing my doorbell. They said that they had been told by their boss that the job had been rescheduled for Saturday morning. I sent them away, told them to return on Monday no earlier than 8:00 a.m., and then I called the General Mgr. on his cell phone (woke him up). The General Mgr. could not believe it when I told him that his work crew arrived on Saturday, and so early in the morning. He apologized but by then, their reputation in my eyes had taken a hit. These were the unfortunate scheduling and responsiveness issues that resulted in a D rating for those categories. Too bad, since the different work crew that showed up on Monday did a great job and were very nice.

Had an estimate done and decided not to proceed due to the inflated cost of service and the little work that was offered for the initial deposit amount. Despite repeated emails I have not received a refund of the $400 I paid as a deposit. I would not use Angie's list again for a service like this and we recommend that everyone beware of them 'disappearing' once they take your money.

This was our first experience with JW. They were punctual in reaching out to set an appointment time. The estimator they sent, however, was unprofessional and off-putting. He made several weird comments during his visit to evaluate the work we needed to do, and was transparent in his efforts to inflate the cost of the job because I was a woman at home alone. When I called him on it and made it clear that JW would need to complete the work within the time I had purchased, he got upset. I told him I'd buy the materials and he purposely gave me incorrect guidance on materials, which I only learned when the crew was at our home. With that said, JW went out of its way to compensate for our negative experience with the estimator. They were communicative, punctual, and extremely thorough. They completed the work within the time allotted, and they were understanding about the shortfall in materials due to the estimator. The crew was respectful and did great work. We will definitely work with JW again--I'm already making a list of things I need to hire them for!

The tiles matched nicely and JW was the only place we found that was able to locate this particular size and complete repairs at a reasonable price. Other companies could not find the tiles, wanted to replace the entire floor, or quoted an exorbitant price to do a small area. The work was very professionally done. Our only complaint is that the office did not return calls or communicate with us in a timely manner.

They did a great job. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it.

Had them install a ceiling fan, shelves, window well cover and sink drain. Friendly, punctual and finished on time. Great experience!

This group is super professional. I have called them for several jobs and am asking them to do more for me. They make it easy.

I request Thomas M. He's very reliable and dependable (I don't have to worry if the work is going to be done correctly). Always perform great work. He's also very cordial, has a pleasant attitude.

ANGE F36054AACAED-to paint kitchen wall before new refridge put in: This is how JW Home Improvement rips you off: What started with a 3 hour 'deal' from Angies list for 3 hours of Handy man work; to paint a small kitchen walls where I took down the border [considering backsplash] to turn into $1,326.47 -[minus-$289 Angies list credit for 3 hours]. And unnecessary time involved. 1) Communication issues with Handymen, and Jim Wolohan and receptionist was lacking. Jim called after I booked wanting me to re-do a review I did last year. I re-read and felt it was spot on. However, I called Angies list to verify if that were possible-but felt it was unprofessional. The receptionist indicted they meant the yelp review I did and it was even more spot on and to the point. I advised specifics that did not happen in that scenario e.g. the handyman not putting the bathroom rack on properly; another came out and replaced the shower head that fell off and as he touched up the tp dispenser it came off as well. He replaced those screws also. As well as glue the piece on the sliding shower door. a) The receptionist had also indicated it would be over 2 weeks before they could do the work. that is when Jim stepped in and advised they could do it Friday b) I was also advised to get semigloss paint which I did. The job entailed painting the kitchen wall after having put in refaced cabinets and border taken down needed c) Discussion with Jim was of painting the kitchen and possibly backsplash. I did not think 2 1/2 small walls would take up more than 3 hours; I also pointed out vents for the ceiling that was not accomplished the last time and intake/out registrar. I pointed out cracking on the crown molding which was from their work. He told the work men to cover 2 places where there was cracking. [when they left they had not done this] The Handymen came promptly at 8:20am however there was discussion of what they were doing-and they felt I had the wrong paint-[Home Improvement said it was the right paint]. They left for Lowes at 9:18 and came back at 10:00. The registrars could not be located [as was my case] and they came back with paint. Lunch was 1:30-2:30 an hour. Jim came by unannounced; and asked how it was going. I pointed out the confusion from the morning and that I nixed the backsplash as they said It was not in their Agenda and added the corner cupboard I thought would take a few minutes between paint drying and 2 men. The guy remaining left at 3:30pm the inside of the corner cupboard had not been done nor was the trim. He started packing a little after 3pm-I had not had lunch yet. Jim later called/emailed and gave me dimensions for the registrars which I got at Home depot. The first 3 hours was covered by Angies List- what supplies are you charging for except the paint which was not necessary? Even with lunch [by law] there were 3 hours after the initial Angies list credit; not to mention the work was not completed correctly - again Another guy come out-'Joe' different from whom you indicated however 'Joe' did a great job-putting in the registrars I found at Home Depot. I attempted to do the registrars myself but screwdriver would not turn the x type screws they had and they were stuck. Joe put those in and caulked the crown molding. He did a great job but I asked if I were being charged an he didn't know he was on the clock until 11:00 for what I wanted done. I had finished painting the cupboard. For April 14th you have charged for 7.5 man hours twice; Materials 86.47; to the tune of over a thousand dollars excluding the $289. I AM DONE WITH JW HOME IMPROVEMENT AND THIS REVIEW WILL BE ON ANGEIS LIST AND YELP. There are communication issues and exorbitant fees for simple tasks. The hype does not match the work and work ethic they claim to have. Luis was terrific. He used metal screws instead of the plastic ones that had been installed before and did excellent work on three jobs. I didn't have a new curtain rod, so he drove with me to Home Depot and helped me pick out a new one. I would be delighted to use this service again.

Took much longer than expected, and nearly double the estimated cost per the submitted proposal. End result was satisfactory, but would be reluctant to engage again.

The original handyman they sent was unable to compete the job. It was bid as a one man job but really was a two man job. They had to return several days later and our roof was left without its full support over the weekend. Luckily, there was no bad weather. Appropriately, they did not charge us for the sending out the second person because that was not in the original bid, and in the end the work was fine, but waiting nearly a week for the completion of the work could have been dangerous to our home if the weather had not cooperated. Additonally, I received an invoice for the first day's labor requesting payment when the job wasn't finished! I called and they asked me to ignore it. It seems that billing doesn't communicate with scheduling and vice versa. After they completed the job, I had to call a month later to get a new invoice in order to settle our account. Finally, after I gave them a credit card number to settle the account, sent an email the following day requesting a card for payment. I can give kudos to Antonio, who was responsive on the phone each and every time I called. Would not hire again.

JW is always responsive, flexible, prompt and good with customer service (although we had a few rounds of email/phone tag, but everything worked out in the end). I usually recommend them as a great handyman crew for small projects and look forward to using them for more stuff around the house! We had a lot of odds and ends around the home and used up maybe 12 hours total, applied a coupon (pay 6 to get 8 hours) and everything was done well. We use them all the time.

They went above and beyond and I would absolutely hire again

This is the third time we've used JW, and we'd use them again! Very punctual, great communicators on progress or any challenges: Oscar and his team were outstanding. We had a minor problem, not unusual for the many projects we had them do, w the window box and a ceiling having uneven paint---they quickly returned and took care of it. Their quality of work and responsiveness is excellent!

Workers were punctual, professional, and all the work was perfect.

The repairmen called early and arrived at the beginning of the hour. They provided a quick overview of the work to be completed and provided recommendations. I provided materials prior to the work except gutter screws which were purchased during the allotted time. All work was completed professionally and within less time than quoted.

Raymond and Thomas arrived promptly every morning for six days. They worked very hard, paid attention to detail, and did a wonderful job. They were always cheerful and were a pleasure to have around the house. We are very pleased with the work and recommend them very highly.

All went well, except the animal problem persisted (there was another entrance), They did a great job in repairing the cause of the leak and repairing the internal drywall and even repainting.

Excellent work and finished at the time that was promised

Everything went smoothly. The 2 guys were on time, knowledgeable and professional. Very happy with them.

Very well overall, though the newly aligned gutter is leaking and I've had some trouble getting them to come back and adjust it. I'm sure they will, based on a good experience so far. Very professional and knowledgeable technicians.

Justin cut the sheets of plywood and installed them exactly as I asked. He minimized the spread of dirt in our house. Justin worked steadily, understood my instructions, and was polite.
