This business was two steps away from being a scam. The process was with the estimator was HORRIBLE they are terribly overpriced yet they assured quality work. Overall the crew was good and did “B” quality work but the company is OVERPRICED AND GREEDY. Once they have their money they were not willing to perform minor tweaks and corrections without charging more money. Overall the work was average to good but, they are untrustworthy and WILL take advantage of customers. There are better companies out there that deserve that are not going to nickel and dime you. Beware and do not give them the benefit of the doubt, find another company.

Very well. This was the second time I have used JW Home Improvement. Their prices are on the higher end but worth it. The workers arrived promptly each day and the work was completed to my satisfaction. In a prior engagement with JW Home Improvement, I had a similar experience. In the past job, the workers accompanied me to the home repair superstore to buy materials because I was not sure what to purchase. JW Home Improvement does good work and I will call the company for future home improvement projects.

Installation went well. Professional work. Primary technician was Thomas Matamoros, who supervised everything and did most of the installations. Thomas was very professional and all of his work was very well done. Whenever there was any question about how to proceed, he always asked me what approach I would prefer. His recommendations were always excellent. I am very pleased with the results of his work.

The workers always were very punctual in the morning, and they did an excellent job on everything they were contracted to do, and did a few extra jobs that came up while they were doing the other work. Overall the workers were fantastic. The price ended up being a little higher than was quoted, but that is partially due to the extra time they spent on the extra work.

It went well. The workmen were punctual, efficient, considerate. I tried not to hover, but when I passed by they were always willing to address any questions or comments I had about the work in progress (or done). I had a good idea what I wanted when they started, but was prepared to compromise if my expectations proved too difficult or expensive to execute. Happily, the results exceeded my expectations. Overall, a pleasant, painfree experience.

At the suggestion of the estimator, the wood was replaced with PVC boards to avoid a recurrence of the rotting. The workman stained/painted the replacement boards in both locations to match the original wood. The results look excellent. All work was completed within one day, as estimated, and within the estimated cost.

I would never hire them again. The estimator wrote down the job incorrectly and the carpenter spent hours trying to replace a part of our door that was in good condition until I asked him why he was doing this. Then, a lot of back and forth with some administrators whose solution was to gift me the time of the carpenter for doing the wrong job which was a pain as I took time off of work to stay with the carpenter. The correct job was many more hours than the Angie's List coupon I purchased so I ended up paying them their high rate of 125$/hr for the extra hours. They didn't even get to the second door I was hoping to fix because the day was over by the time they finished the first door. Worst, the rotten wood wore out again after 1 year so the workmanship did not last. The second time around I hired a local carpenter recommended by a neighbor for 1/4 the price and without the hassle with the estimator, central office and carpenter of JW.

All went well! I had a “honey do” list and JW Home Improvement finished it all in one day. I will use them again once I have a new list.

We had a few pretty small jobs-- mostly carpentry needed on our front and back porches. The work was done without a hitch, within the schedule, and below the estimate. And it was done well. i would certainly hire these guys again.

100% job well done...totally professional, cleaned and took away debris from service performed. Workers very kind and thoughtful! ( I am sight impaired) they kept me well informed throughout the repair process. Great guys!

Bathroom, of course, was a lot more work than planned. They handled it beautifully. Deck repair and painting went smoothly.

They replaced the living room ceiling due to water damage Jesus and Fernando were a great team. I will need additional home improvements in the future and hope I can get this team Thanks a lot Job well done

This is not the first time I have used JW for work in my house. They are fantastic! The estimator is fair and thorough. The contractors are amazing! I will continue to use JW for all my work needed in the future

Fabulous! They were reasonably priced, punctual, clean, and the work was done in the time promised. The engineer/PM kept checking on progress and kept us informed every step of the way. We've gone through several handymen, none of whom performed as promised, but we now have our go-to company. 10 out of 10.

The guys were prompt and professional. Always arriving on time and I really appreciated the neatness after each days work. Drywall dust can be very troublesome, but these guys took care to cover up furniture, etc and did an excellent job overall. I would definitely use them again.

This was a failure on the part of Angie's List. The company responded that I was outside thier area.

The workers were very professional and asked questions to make sure they performed the work to my specifications. The customer service reps are also very friendly and knowledgeable. Very good service!

Two most friendly JW carpentry members, Thomas and Oscar, came to make repairs on damages on wooden parts of my porch and on the door of a garden shed (all damages were weather related). Then they changed two panels of screens on my porch. The labor cost is somewhat on the high side. But such an expense is well justified by the depth of their expertise and the energy they exerted into their work. I want to point out that the managing style of the company is to be complimented. After the work was done, I called the company to point out two modifications on the finished work that may need to be done because of some unexpected problems that surfaced. Immediately the company office sent an inspector to look at the problems. A few days later Oscar came to make the modifications, all without any additional cost.

Everything went well. The technician competently performed all tasks, cleaned up well, and finished in less time than was originally estimated.

Brandon and Soren did an excellent job onsite, executing what was needed done perfectly. They were both professional and worked hard. Overall customer service with JW has been excellent - they are courteous and prompt and accommodated a difficult schedule for me. I have been very pleased and would hire them again.

Thomas and Brandon arrived on time (even early) both days. They did an excellent job of painting trim and two sets of doors. A visitor even thought the trim was newly installed. They took care of everything planned but were able to substitute one job for one that was not needed after all. All in all, both were very congenial and easy to work with and did excellent work.

The work was completed on time and on budget but enough problems arose that I doubt if I'd use JW again. I should have known better when the estimator, on his first and only visit to my house, put pressure on me to accept their estimate on-the-spot. That was a huge red flag but I was in a hurry and the quoted price wasn't crazy, so I signed. But be warned: JW's estimators will pressure you. Things ran smoothly once I was handed off to a project manager. Bob was both professional and punctual. He came out and measured the existing front door so that we could order the new custom door to fit the existing space. I also purchased a new storm door and had it on-site ready to install as well. The installers arrived promptly and were both friendly and efficient. By the end of the day, however, some issues became apparent. First, moulding that surrounds the door frame at the top was a good 1" higher than it had been. This was obvious because the moulding continues horizontally for the length of the wall. It had been level, now the door section was much higher than the rest. Also, the gap between the door and the wall varied vertically from top to bottom. Seemed like something wasn't level there, too. As a result, the door lock just barely made the reach from the door knob to the wall lock plate. Even a slight turn and the door would pop open. The lock plate itself looks to have needed several attempts to alight correctly, leaving unsightly cuts in the wood around it. The storm door was installed properly but they appear to have incorrectly installed the removable glass section. I discovered unused retaining strips in the materials instead of on the door. I brought these issues to Bob's attention and he scheduled the same installers to come out and affix repairs. Unfortunately, the didn't bother to coordinate schedules with me and instead just showed up at my door one morning by surprise. Rather than send them away, I took a few hours off work so that they could get to work then and there. They did resolve the gap issue but at the cost of even more unsightly cuts in the wood. They were, however, unable or unwilling to address the curious height issue that left me with uneven moulding. Overall, the work was completed but the quality wasn't the best and the communication from the installers was zero. This saddens me because they were quite friendly. I just wish they'd done better work. Granted, perhaps my expectations were too high but I assumed that the final product would be showroom-level. Not so much.

JW contacted me promptly after I reserved the deal on Angie's List. They said they needed to send an estimator to ensure that the tasks could be completed in the time that I'd purchased, which was 8 hours for $799. They then said that I needed to pay up front instead of after the work had been completed, and they charged my card. Instead, the estimator provided a cost estimate for work to be completed instead of ensuring that these minor tasks could be completed on time. The estimator came on a Saturday and we still hadn't received the paperwork by Tuesday. When I called to check in, they didn't understand that I'd already paid for the time and that they simply needed to schedule a time to do the work. They insisted that I needed to pay an additional deposit before they could schedule a day and time. At this point, I requested a refund via email and am waiting for a response. This was the second time I'd contacted JW for work through Angie's List, and they mishandled the front end of the work last time, too. But they responded very well to my review here and then did a great job with the work once they came to do it. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice and I will never use this company again.
