Not well -- I have had JW do some work in the past and they were great. I got a special on angies for 4 hours of work and paid for it through angies. JW sent out their handyman -- Justin -- and he worked for me for the allotted 4 hours doing minor things, such as hanging curtain rods, changing outlets, etc. within that 4 hour window. I supplied all the materials. That has now changed even when you get a 4 hour special. they send out either Josh or Jessie to review what is to be done. I don't like either one of them and find their review of what I need done superfulous and unwanted. I just want someone to come out for the 4 hours and do what they can during that timeframe -- but NO, Jessie or Josh have to step in and try and upsell me or say that the handyman can't do this or that during the timeframe. I am so disappointed because Justin is great and I loved working with him but I will not tolerate Jessie and Josh trying to push me around. I will find another handyman.

Chris was on time, polite and professional. Excellent work on the blinds, well within the time frame i contracted for.

Wow! We’ve worked with JW before and as before the work is excellent. We had Alfredo and Juan the first two days, the a third man named Juan on day three. The weather was simply atrocious but they powered right through! Courteous, easy to work with - great experience. The office team is also excellent. We worked with Josh Metz on estimate, and Clifton Allen on materials. All great! Highly recommend this company! Stephanie and John

A terrible repeat experience. The work is decent when they actually show up and are available. After being a repeat customer for years, they completely took our loyalty for granted. Scheduling and price estimates are a nightmare. Angie’s List is a big place. Save your money and time by skipping JW Home Improvement.

We had used JW on a prior job and while not cheap they were outstanding. Our experience on this job was opposite (messy, overcharged, rude and failing to complete work). It was simple - insulate the doors to the house, fix a fan, install a couple of overhead lights. I paid a large down payment of about $1984 based on an estimate range of $1984 to $2884 depending on level of effort for 2 people, two days worst case (It was explained that if the work took 1.5 days for the two of them the cost was $1984, which I had paid, if it was less, they would credit). The day they were scheduled they showed up on time - a more seasoned worker, and a younger fellow. Both pleasant. They began work, but the seasoned worker left midway through the first day and never returned. As a result they did not finish the job and there were messes I discovered after they left- they left paint drips along the basement staircase onto my tiled floor, rusted nails and bent flashings on the deck and stair. There were still moldings and flashings that needed to be replaced on the exteriors of the doors, the screen on the fan mount they installed popped open that evening, and i couldnt close it, and they left debris on driveway -(later picked up), as consequence my wife punctured her left front tire with a nail from that debris pile. She had to take off work and we had to purchase a new front tire for $82 because it could not be repaired due to the location of the puncture. I sent a detailed email and my wife sent photos of the debris they left, and they did not respond i called and they said "you can clean the paint drips easily off the stairs", but agreed to send a worker to make the repairs, and they never showed. I called again and we tried to reschedule and they said "let me get back to you" - they never did, or at least did not try hard enough. The original job was estimated for 2 people, 1.5 days with 2 full days being the max. Billing called my wife demanding us to pay for the remaining costs (for two people based on original estimate), she pointed out that the job wasnt complete, they turned us to dispatcher who told us any "repairs" to the work would be an additional fee, and my wife left the call, pointing out that we had already paid $1900 for the work, based on a 1.5 minimum - 2.0 day job for two people, and the additional charges were based on a 2 day price for two people. After that we lost contact, and decided to throw in the towel. Just as the holidays are beginning we received an charge for over $900, making the total cost $2884 (the highest end of the estimate - 2 people, 2 days or 4 days work, whereas we actually had 2.5 to 2.75 days of actual work) for some very basic work, We are disputing the charge. I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer. My health is broken, my wife is working full time and trying to keep our family afloat. This has been a terrible stress to my family. Again, they had done a great job earlier, on a roof leak. This time I found their dispatcher to be completely unsympathetic to our situation, and their response to be incredibly disappointing, I am paying an incredible $2800 for work I could do if my health were better, and my wife and I have spent at least 8 hours trying to unscrew their actions. I find that taking advantage of sick, older people is the worst thing a vendor can do, and it happens all the time - i just never thought it would be us. Clearly the company can do great work, but they may risk something like this.

The work was superior in quality. The technician was excellent, professional and left the property immaculate. The estimator was also very good and professional and the phone staff were polite, helpful and thorough.

I submitted a request. They called me within 24 hours to come out and provide an estimate. Clint came out to provide the estimate and took the time to explain everything. We scheduled the work to begin 2 days later. Alberto sent me a text message to let me know he was about 30 minutes away. He arrived on time to perform the services. Alberto and Javier fixed everything and cleaned up after themselves. The work area was spotless. I plan to hire them again for some additional work.

Great! Workers came on time and not only did a beautiful job, but stacked up the refuse discreetly and picked it up early the next day with no traces left. Quality work.

Company charges $50 for estimate -- good toward cost of job if you choose them. I chose not to pay for an estimate and will look elsewhere. The "C" rating and hire again "no" response are not relevant -- I just could not submit the review without checking something.

Tough job in a confined space but precisely and professionally completed in estimated time. Thorough clean-up done at end of each day, and great care taken to avoid tracking-in or damaging home.

The only wait was for the door (which had to be custom manufactured due to our front door's dimensions). The work was quick and to their usual high standard (I have used JW three or four times now). It actually came in under the estimate.

Excellent service and workmanship. Will work with this group again the next time I need a contractor.

We originally had four items on our list. Jesse came out for the estimate and did a quick inspection of the exterior and found several items that needed to be addressed. We ended up having the team tackle all the additional items so they wouldn't turn into bigger issues later. Other than a delay in the start day and a hiccup on the first work day, the job went well. Alberto and Javier were pleasant to deal with, respectful, neat and did a great job on each project. They replaced a piece of trim and the rubber seal on the side of the garage door and you'd never know it wasn't the original piece. They painted the trim and garage door and didn't spill a drop on the driveway. Inside, they laid drop cloths leading down to the basement where they replaced a section of drywall. They covered the entire room in plastic so as not to get dust everywhere when they sanded. After patching the drywall, they painted the entire wall so the patch wouldn't stand out. They moved all the furniture and put everything back where it was when they were finished. When they were all done, you would never have know they were here because they didn't leave any mess behind. We were so glad to have all these little projects completed and done well. This is our second time using JW Home Improvement and we would use them again. We would also ask for Alberto and Javier again. They make a great team.

The technician was on time, professional, and efficient. We love our new ceiling fan. This was our second positive experience with JW and I'm sure we'll use them again.

Project went awesomely. Alberto Velasquez and Javier Jiron were amazing. Completely took care of all of our wood issues having to completely remove a door and a window. Exterior power washing and painting went very well too. Done in the allotted amount of time even though they encountered additional unexpected damage. We need to have more work done and I will specifically be asking to have these two back to do it. Very professional. Very understanding of our protective dogs. Very happy! Thank you!

It looks great, and my technician assured me that I should never have another problem with it.

BOTTOM LINE: Excessively High Work Estimates, Charge you for their ridiculously long time to shop for Materials & slow roll the work to make more money. I just checked BBB, I'm not the first to complain about their business practices. Angies List should NOT recommend them. BACKGROUND: Received a ridiculously high estimate for approximately 32 linear feet of crown molding work. After a back & forth with the salesman & deciding I would do the painting we settled on a contract of $2976-$3968 plus material, for 1-2 days of labor. DETAILED measurements were taken during the estimate & example high quality pictures of the desired final product was supplied to the sales rep & included in the contract. Two workers showed day 1 at 0830, REMEASURED & left to Home Depot (15 mins from my home) & returned almost 3 hrs later with material. They worked from 11-1pm, took lunch 1-2pm, worked again 2-4pm then left at 4:20pm. They basically worked 4-hours of actual labor & finished less than 1/4 of the project on day 1. . Day 2 they worked 8.5 hrs only because I complained & a manager got involved but they still needed an ENTIRE 3d day to finish the job, again NOT including painting. The work itself was well done only after a manager intervened on some details. My complaint are: 1. They took an excessive amount of time to shop for material on my dime & accomplished little to NOTHING on day 1. 2. They work INCREDIBLY slow because the longer the project takes the more money they make. 3. Finally, they tried to bill me for 52-hrs of labor & did not include unused materials returned to Home Depot. Total actual labor was 21 hrs x 2 workers = 44 man/hrs. I eventually got it reduced to 46 & got credit for returned material but the job could have been done in MUCH LESS time. I do NOT recommend JW Home Improvement due to their excessive estimates, slow work & business/billing practices.

Very well. Raymond Humton and his colleague, Kevin, did an excellent job. They were courteous and professional. Kevin did an excellent job painting the front door and made sure that he had me look it over before he completed the task to ensure it was done to my satisfaction. Raymond did the various other repairs and was very personable and clearly had a wealth of experience (he also fixed my ceiling fan which was not on the original list). It was nice to feel my house was in good hands and that I was working with good people whom I could trust. I have used JW for other work and this was the fifth time they did work at my house. I recommend them!

Brandon K. knocked out several projects that I can take off my todo list now. He fabricated a window well covering from scratch. It's done in time to keep our basement from flooding when the big storm hits tomorrow.

Cliffton Allen was the tech who performed the excellent work. He was a great guy and tech. He did the work in a very professional manner and was highly knowledgeable.

This is the third project I have had JW work on at our house. The quality of the work is excellent and the workers are first-rate and punctual. However, this time the project ran 18 hours over the labor noted in the estimate. I was out of town when the project was completed and never received a phone call alerting me that the project cost was increasing. Thus, I did not authorize the overrun. I simply received a bill for $2,000 more than I expected. I incorrectly assumed that the increased cost and labor hours was simply the company charging me in advance for a small amount of labor associated with painting new lumber after it cured. That was not the case as I received a subsequent bill for another eight hours of labor. I was present for the painting that day except for a short while and can truthfully assert that the painting took two men three hours each for a total of six hours. I was out of town when this latest invoice came; it is JW's routine practice to charge a credit card on file if - after three tries - the customer does not respond. When I saw JW's emails, I incorrectly assumed it was the receipt for some auto work I had done. So, my credit card was charged for eight hours of labor. I have contacted the company three times as of today and was assured that the company owners or senior professionals would contact me and proffer a solution to my complaint of being overcharged for labor. (I am now wondering if the extra 18 hours was actually worked, given the incorrect labor amount on the latest invoice.) The company has not contacted me. I will not do business again with JW and will not recommend them to others given the lack of professionalism displayed in this situation.
