JW Home Improvement

This is my first project with JW Home Improvement, and I am very pleased with their services. From the moment I contacted them through Angi to the completion of the project, I received prompt, courteous and professional service. Josh Metz, the estimator, came to my house to discuss the project and to provide me with a written estimate of the work to be done as well as schedule the work for the following week. All this was accomplished on the same day. Kevin Juares, the technician, did an excellent job and my kitchen ceiling looks fantastic after the removal of the large frame. He was very meticulous, protected the entire kitchen with plastic covering and cleaned up the area before departure. I will definitely rely on JW for any future project in my home.

We recently hired JW Home Improvement to resurface our deck, repair and paint all the trim on the exterior of the house, and make other much-needed repairs and improvements. We very much appreciated Estimator Josh, Field Supervisor Clinton, and Office Manager Michelle for their responsiveness and friendliness. The team they sent to us, Alberto and Javier, were excellent! Highly skilled in so many areas of construction and painting and problem solving, they were efficient, careful, hard working, and thorough. Good natured, they took the time to explain to us what they were doing whenever we had questions. We highly recommend them and plan to hire them again.

Alberto and Javier were efficient in getting the work done; completing it in 3 days rather than the estimated 3.5. They were courteous and professional and were careful to keep my home clean and clean up the debris/garbage from the work.

Salesman unable to answer questions, provided only ballpark verbal estimate, which was high. Asked for a written proposal, never heard from him again.

So please that I went with JW. The side entry porch had rotted wood throughout and the steps were sagging. Also, exterior house paint had been removed years ago but prior owners did not address one side of house, probably cause it was hidden behind crepe myrtles. Crepe myrtles are now gone and that wall is very visible on the street. Also there were some little jobs needed around the house such as replacing rotted boards above the garage. Got a quote from JW in late April and scheduled the work for the week of July 21 for 6-7 days of work. Two workers showed up promptly on the 21st and did a great job. Very pleased with the JW crew as they kept me posted on the progress throughout the job which was completed in six days. Wish I could post before and after pictures as it looks fantastic

The technician, Fredy Aguilar, did great work installing a new sliding closet door and repairing another closet door. The new closet door looks and works great and the old door works better than it did we when moved into our house.

Great work by JW team of Oscar and Jose. They sent two workers to complete all items, which was done within the estimated timetable provided (10.5 man hours total). JW did very thorough work, all issues fixed/repaired, new access door installed, and finished product works great. While a bit costly on an hourly rate basis, you pay a premium for quality, which is always worth it in the long run. would certainly hire again.

The work was outstanding!! Miguel Romero and William Gebara were our technicians. They exceeded our expectations. The next time we have a need for a handyman, our first call will be to JW Home Improvements

JW was excellent. We had a myriad of projects, including exterior and interior painting, drywall repair, exterior wood replacement and brick repair. They did a great job and paid attention to every detail. We had interior jobs and felt comfortable with the men inside our home. Moreover, they went above and beyond with labeling all of our paint cans (with the rooms in which each color was used) and moving them.

JW did a great job from a detailed quote to professional work. We did not have the time, tools or skills to do the work ourselves. JW is a great company to hire.

I was extremely pleased with the work Americo, Israel, and Antonio did! They were detail oriented, taking great care that the job was not just done but done exceptionally well! I have used JW Home Improvement on three or four jobs for my home. The quality of their work is uniformly excellent. Their employees are courteous, thorough, and professional, and they always clean up well after completing a job. While they are not the cheapest handyman service in town, you get what you pay for. The only area where they could use some improvement is with their invoicing/billing process. There have been some errors on a couple of my jobs' invoices; however, the office has always made the necessary corrections quickly and without any fuss. Just keep good records of the hours worked by your technician, and you will have no problem.

Excellent. We recently moved and I had some items left on a punch list that needed to be addressed. I used JW Home Improvement several times at my old home and have received excellent service every time. All jobs, including this one, are completed quickly, affordably, and with very high quality. I highly recommend anyone with a specific need or a list of needs contact JWHI to get help!

The guy who came to give an estimate wasn't qualified to diagnose any of the problems I presented to him, and ended up giving the worker the wrong direction on our repairs, wasting two months of our tenants time and much too much of our money with no results. 1. We had four different kinds of problem to fix, and the estimator in trying to "save us money" wanted to book the one guy they have who can do electrical, tile, and paint work. We had to wait over a month to get this one guy on the schedule. This ended up being a huge mistake. The worker was slow (racking up the hourly charges), didn't diagnose issues on his own, only followed poor direction from the estimator unqualified to diagnose or solution, and dragged this project on for another month. Details below. 1. A plumber had to break tile in our remodeled bathroom to fix a leak. We needed them to create access panels with new tile. The estimator never got out his measuring tape, yet assured us that this tile could just be picked up from a box store. He was wrong. Our tile wasn't 12"x12" standard, but rather 13"x13" and the worker ended up spending hours "shopping" for tile, not getting any of the other work done. JW honored this mistake and did not charge us for these hours. 2. The exterior street lamp or its light sensor were causing the only GFCI outlet on it's circuit to trip, rendering the bathroom outlets offline for our tenants. Again, the estimator offered an electrical solution that ultimately made no sense for our circuit, and the worker followed his "diagnosis" without thinking for himself that led us nowhere with this problem not fix. Why hire an electrician if he's not qualified to diagnose on his own and work to resolve the issue? He was literally just following orders from an estimator who isn't an electrician! JW honored this mistake and did not charge us for these hours (supposedly, and I say supposedly, because the total hours we were charged for what did get fixed below was WAY too high for the result). They still charged us for the materials. They haven't responded to my recent response on this, and I will have to dis dispute the charges through the credit card company. 3. The leak from the bathroom caused a stain on the ceiling below. They painted over this (An hour's worth of work, tops). 4. They repaired a small corner of a ceiling where double tape had ripped the paint (Maybe two hours worth of work, tops) <-- also LEAST important item on our list 5. Nailed two lose railings, which took him literally one minute. We've been charged over $800 for these least important "repairs" that took the worker a few hours. The important repairs remain unfixed. They are justifying this charge with an invoice listing over 10 hours of this work AFTER taking off the hours they "honored". To me this is dishonest and a huge overcharge for what actually got done. This worker was so incredibly slow, wasting so much of our time and docking far more hours than is honest. The estimator was clearly unqualified, leaving my tenants with a broken bathroom and broken electrical work over two months later. Now to be fair, the manager I worked with attempted to honor the mistakes, and tried to help us find tile when it was clear it couldn't just be purchased by a big box store. He was great. But at the end of the day we are being charged way too much for too little and our tenants two months later still don't have these repairs fixed. It's unacceptable.

From start to finish, such an easy experience. Josh did the estimate, was honest and super friendly, and not at all pushy. The team to complete the work, Alberto and Javiar, were on time and finished the work quickly - but most importantly did impecable work. The finished product exceeeded our expectations. They didn't cut any corners and the final product looks like it has been part of the house all along!

There are not enough superlatives to describe the wonderful work that JWHI did on our home. We called them in because our house desperately needed to be painted, some key exterior repairs were required, and the gutters needed to be replaced. Specifically, the paint on the brick exterior was dingy and badly flaking, the siding (wood) portion of the house had dry rot in places, one of the shutters had fallen off during a windstorm, and the wooden columns on the front porch had visible vertical cracks. Thomas Matamoros, Apolo Gonzalez, and the rest of the team did back-breaking work day after day, for several weeks, to address and remediate these and other issues. They power washed the exterior; expertly scraped and primed the surface to ensure it was properly prepared for painting; spent many laborious hours painstakingly repairing and repainting the columns and shutters; removed and replaced rotted wood where it existed, even in corners; communicated their progress after each workday; were extremely solicitous to make certain we were aware of and approved of the work that was being done; and, after doing a superb job painting the exterior, replaced the old, deteriorated gutters with beautiful shiny new ones. The house looks phenomenal! We are so appreciative of the thought, effort, and craftmanship Thomas and Apolo put into our home. Their work is of the highest quality, and we feel fortunate that JWHI assigned them to our project. We also appreciate that Assistant Project Manager Ever and Project Manager Cliff stopped by to offer insights and solicit feedback. We are so pleased to have worked with JWHI. The company has earned our family’s trust, and we recommend them without reservation.

We have worked with JW Home Improvement for a number of (8) hour days over the past few months. We staged new light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures and JW sends the right person who removes the old fixtures and installs new fixtures over (8) hours. This strategy has worked well and we have brought back JW 3-4 times over the basement remodeling project.

The contractor did a beautiful job with a somewhat complex installation of crown molding in basement to cover some electrical -- it required him to work around windows and tiny corners. it looks amazing.

Excellent job by Thomas Motamoros and Apolo Gonzalez at JW Home Improvement. These men were punctual, neat, well-mannered, and skilled carpenters and painters. The job site was always clean and orderly, and the work was excellent. They performed beyond my expectations.

Jeff Dahlgren (JW Home Improvement) did an Excellent job for us with high quality work and budgeted project time very efficiently. He paid very close attention to detail for the tiniest imperfections and the finish product was above our expectations. He was also very personable and friendly throughout the project. He would happily work with Jeff again.

Workers appeared on time, were courteous, extremely competent, and completed all repairs.

Great and quick job! Josh, Alfredo, and Soren were all very professional and quick. The work turned out great.
