Jim Stanley Asphalt

Contacted the company using their online form twice, the telephone once, and regular email once. Got two automatic email replies indicating they received my information and would get back to me the next business day. They never contacted me. I used this company in 2011 and was very happy with the quality of their work. I was surprised that the company did not respond to me as a repeat customer. I guess they are booked up for the rest of the year but I still think that a reply to that effect would have been reasonable.

We had no problems, everything went great. The guy I worked with was very easy to work with, and he provided a discount. I was happy with the service and work.

Michael was very professional throughout and clearly cares about customer satisfaction. The work was done as specified on time and the result looked great initially to the naked eye. After the first rain, we noticed a huge puddle in the center of our driveway that had not been there prior to the work. Michael came back and instructed a member of his team to address the puddle. The team member created a groove to drain the water to the side of the driveway but in the process left an unsighlty ~1x3 foot discolored indentation in the driveway. Michael returned a few days later and repaired this himself while further improving the puddle drainage. The aesthetic result was much improved though the area is not entirely homogeneous in appearance. Michael graciously offered to seal the driveway gratis (given the circumstances) this fall after which he indicated the driveway will appear uniform. We really appreciated Michael's taking ownership of the work and responsively working with us to ensure our satisfaction. Update: Michael did perform the sealing work gratis as promised and it looks much improved!

Mike Stanley sent us a very professional proposal outlining esxactly what work would be done and how it would be done. Not only did they take out the old driveway right to it's base, but they put down a new base that was carefully leveled and them put on both a 3 " base layer of asphalt and a 2 and a half inch layer of topping asphalt. This company brought in a small tracked vehicle to help bread up and remove the old asphalt and base. They then brought in an asphalt laying machine, large and small rollers and other equipment as well. The work began right on time and finished right on time. My wife and I are absolutely delighted with the results.

Mike Stanley and his crew arrived when they said they would. They performed all the work specified in the contract. Mike was there, supervising and running machinery, during the entire job. The paving crew seemed to know exactly what to do; one of the crew members told me he'd worked for the Stanleys for many years. The job began with removal of badly damaged areas of the driveway. The crew also took out about 10 feet of the apron area next to the garage and similarly large areas at the two ends of the driveway, where it meets the concrete entrances. The crew applied, smoothed, and rolled the asphalt. Mike Stanley pointed out that he uses a heavier-than-usual roller for compaction, which is a plus. The edges of the drive were properly angled and tamped firmly by hand. Mike paid careful attention to the drainage, which was critical. The driveway runoff drains better than before. The paving crew picked up everything when they were done. Except for a couple of unavoidable asphalt stains on the grass, they left nothing but a new driveway behind. During the estimate process, after the contract was signed, and during the job itself, Mike Stanley was accessible and responsive to my many questions.

Decided to stay with concrete rather than replace with asphalt. Had we decided to go with asphalt, we would definitely have used the company.

They were very fast at providing estimate, but when it came to scheduling this small job, they put me off, made excuses and were generally were uncooperative. Gave up and went on to another company.

I called Jim Stanley to provide an estimate to widen our asphalt driveway by 1 foot on either side. He told me that widening a driveway by 1 foot with asphalt is not an option due to the fact that it would crack and break up over time. My husband and I really appreciate his honesty and professionalism. If we ever need asphalt work done, we will certainly not hesitate to call on him and use his company. I greatly appreciated his honest approach and his willingness to explain what was going on. He was punctual and his prices very fair. He provided a estimate on the cost of resurfacing my drive which I know is a very fair price. Will call him when I am ready to do that.

It went very well. Stanley Asphalt showed up on time and executed the proposal as planned. Jim Stanley provided the quote, supervised the work, and even did some of the work himself. I had a lot of questions which Jim answered patiently. I am very satisfied with the price and quality of the work.

Jim Stanley and his son installed our new driveway this past week. His crew did an oustanding job and even helped me carry heavy plants that needed to be transplanted into the backyard. Jim was professional, courteous, and always responded in a timely manner with phone calls. Jim was able to expand our old, 30+ year single driveway into a 2-car driveway that looks great. Jim came and sealed the driveway the next day with an oil-based sealer. His work comes with a one-year guarantee and he will completely replace the driveway if their are any major faults (this won't be an issue, but it is nice to know the guarantee is there if needed). I highly recommend Jim and his company. They know what they are doing and do it very well in a timely manner.

I was very happy with the entire experience. Mike Stanley (son) came out last Saturday and submitted a very detailed proposal of the scope of work. It was printed right in his truck and included a number of referrals. Clearly the most impressive part of the experience was today when they arrived exactly when Mike said they would and went to work right away. Jim (Father) and Mike were both onsite all day and both shared a keen attention to detail. They went way above what I expected and were able to ensure that the driveway drained fully and completely especially near my newly built garage. All of the folks on the crew shared the same attention to detail and never seemed to even take a break. They cleaned everything up completely and didn't leave any asphalt or debris anywhere. They definitely did not skimp on the thickness of the asphalt and I ended up getting a considerably thicker driveway than I thought I would get. They had updated equipment that was well maintained and obviously take a great deal of pride in what they do. I had a chance to talk to both Mike and Jim over the course of the day and they are the kind of folks you'd like to have as neighbors. I'd use their company again in a heartbeat.

He had a much better price than anyone else in the area, about $500-$600 less, and he did a good paving job as well.

I had gotten several bids to do the driveway work on our property and finally settled on Stanley Asphalt. Their reviews on Angie's List and other review sites were excellent and I liked Mike when he came out to give me an estimate. The work on our driveway took approximately a week. We had a vacation planned and I was nervous about leaving before the job was finished, but Mike assured me that everything was under control and insisted I wait to pay him until after we returned and approved the job. Mike and his crew were very conscientious about laying out the new driveway with me. We were using plans drawn up by our landscape designer, but the actual layout needed to be tweaked as it got laid out. Once the new driveway was laid out, Mike and his crew had to do some regrading of the area because we have a sloping lot. They did a good job of leveling out the area for the parking pad and integrating it with the gentle slope of the rest of the driveway. Mike used more base than he had originally planned but in the end didn't charge us any additional amount. We are extremely happy with our new driveway and I have recommended Jim Stanley Asphalt to several of my neighbors.

After reviewing other Angie's List comments, we called Jim Stanley Asphalt for our driveway. Mike came out the same day we called and submitted a very professional and thorough bid. They arrived on time and did a great job. Our driveway looks great. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

Very pleased with the honesty and work Stanley Asphalt did. We had to re-schedule once due to weather, and the first sealing looked good, but we were concerned of some slow drying on parts of the driveway. Before accepting our check, Mr. Stanley came out to look at it and agreed some areas didn't dry properly. He came out the following week, and re-sealed the entire driveway and it looks great. I would definitely recommend this company.

Our driveway was a mess. It had not been redone for several years and had been used heavily during the construction of walls and house remodelings. This company is great. Mike Stanley and his staff were professional and quick. As they were working they kept materials away from our new walls and those of our neighbor. They cleaned up the entire area after they completed the work on the driveway. Now only are we happy with what Mike did but many neighbors have commented on how well the driveway now looks. It was one of the few projects around here that went off without a hitch!

Mike Stanley was one of the first to come and give me an estimate. He was very professional, and had a prepared package of materials showing his previous work. He explained what he would do very throoughly and also explained what work needed to be done in preparation (removing two tree stumps and an air conditioner). The driveway was done in one day. Mike returned to our house in the evening to go over the work with us. Overall and OUTSTANDING job. Definitely the best of the three contractors I interviewed. Not the cheapest quote, but I would happily paid more for the better service and quality.

Mike came promptly when he said he would. He gave a quote and a thorough write-up of what he would do. His men arrived when they said they would. They did a great job. Our driveway looks fantastic. We are very pleased with the finished product and the entire experience.

Mike Stanley answered the phone when I called or returned my calls promptly when I left a message He gave me a verbal price when I gave him my driveway measurements. After measuring my drivewy for oil seal coating, he sent a written proposal and lowered the verbal price by $20. He wanted to make sure I received the service on the day designated and since he had several jobs that day, sent his father, Jim, to do the driveway. Jim did a fine job. Mike's price was cheaper than another company I checked.
